Fantastic experience: This was my first visit with Dr. Friedman who was highly recommended by my general dentist. I was very impressed with the office and the excellent hygiene. Angie and Braulio prepared me for the examination and they were very professional and empathetic which helped calm my neeves. Dr. Friedman was very personable, patient and took the time to answer all my questions. He has blessed hands, as I barely felt him working and the level of discomfort was about 2/10. Fantastic experience: I was referred here by my dentist to drain the abscess that was forming in my lower jaw. The staff is so polite, and friendly. Dental assistants were so nice to me. I told them that I have dental anxiety and am very anxious. Everyone tried to make me feel better. I was a bit cold and they told me that they have blankets! Thank you for that! One of the dental assistants walked me through the process and told me not to worry about anything. I was very comfortable and peacefully went to sleep for 40 minutes. It’s been one day, and honestly i have minimum bruising, minimal swelling and almost no pain. Thank you for your professionalism! Thank you Dr. Mahana! UPDATE: I also went back for 2 dental implants to Dr. Mahana! I was a little anxious but the staff was doing everything they can to calm me down and make me feel better about my dental anxiety! Fantastic experience: My son had to have two wisdom teeth extracted, and I would definitely come back to this practice again I think the front desk staff the dental assistance and the oral surgeon with the best I’ve ever experienced. And most of all my son had relatively no pain afterwards, just a little discomfort, which is to be expected.

I was provided nitrous oxide for comfort and they made the procedures as comfortable as possible. Negative experience: I am editing this review. Dr. Friedman is wonderful. The billing department is terrible. My husband’s primary insurance sent a payment to the practice for services that we had paid for in full before the procedure. It is now 5 months later and they still have not send us our insurance reimbursement despite the many calls and copies of the EOB. They also charged our secondary insurance using me as the patient instead of my husband. It has been a nightmare trying to rectify this Dr.Friedman is very patient oriented. He explains each procedure and will answer all questions to make you feel comfortable As a patient I felt valued and I was very confident that my tooth extraction, healing, and implant would be done with exceptional skill Every member of this practice that I had interaction with, from the office staff, dental assistants, and doctors, were exceptional I would highly recommend this group

Fantastic experience: North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Suregery was referred to me by my dentist due to a loose implant/crown. When I got there, the front desk clerk was very pleasant and professional. She asked for my information and once provided and scanned she sent me to the other side to wait to be called. After sitting in the waiting room for about 10 minutes, I was called to the back to be seem. The staff was amazing! very professional and pleasant. After my x-rays were completed, I was seeb by Dr. Friedman who was great to say the least. He reviewed my x-rays and even though it was a "simple" loose crown, he advised me that it was not something that he does, but never turned me away. He was able to remove the crown, clean it and re-tighten it. No more shaking crown and the fear of me swallowing it was gone. Thanks Dr. Friedman, you are truly appreciated.

I found him as warm, honest, professional and helpful as I did when I first saw him back in 2011. There were some internal coordination challenges, but Erica from the admin team did a fantastic job managing the procedure estimate, and the Practice Administrator was also very supportive in help resolve the issue. Fantastic experience: In December of 2024, I took my 17 year old son to Dr. Friedman after after being referred by his orthodontist for wisdom teeth removal. I noted that Dr. Friedman was professional, kind and empathetic, carefully explaining the problematic condition of the wisdom teeth that were beneath the gums, and how he would address this. The surgery went as planned and my son has recovered nicely, his beautiful smile and years of orthodontia preserved. Recently in September of 2025, my hygienist noticed that a concerning sore on the gum at the base of a molar persisted even several weeks after a root canal that was expected to remedy this problem. She decided it was important for me to see an oral surgeon before she proceeded with a cleaning. The gum surgeons in Bergen County the dental office referred me to were not available for months, and their office added that they were out of network from my insurance, and I would be "on my own". I remembered that Dr. Friedman had treated my son and decided to call North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. When I explained my problem they recognized its seriousness and were able to schedule an appointment two days later. When I asked about insurance, they admitted that they were out of network, but said that they would contact the insurance companies and inform me of the out of pocket expense that day of the appointment before I was committed to any procedure. Prior to the appointment, I was able to complete all of the patient forms on line and found this process to be one of the most thorough and user friendly compared with that of the many other medical practices I have patronized. Once at the office, I found all staff members to be friendly, competent and empathetic. Dr. Friedman's assistants recommended 3-dimensional x-rays to help diagnose the problem and I agreed. This was done quickly and they shared the resulting imagery of my teeth and jaw, which was amazing. Dr. Friedman quickly diagnosed the problem and proposed a same day procedure to address the issue. At many other offices, I would expect to have to come back for a second visit. Dr. Friedman offered me multiple anesthesia options, but I was comfortable with just Novocain. As with my son, Dr. Friedman carefully explained the procedure to me and it was completed quickly as planned. The entire visit took less than two hours. As promised the billing person explained the costs before the procedure, and made an effort to minimize my out of pocket expense. I noted that in addition to providing excellent care to adults, the practice was child friendly and younger people were among those waiting to be treated. I would highly recommend North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to people of all ages referred for oral surgery and related treatments.

The folks at the front desk were very friendly and made taking my dental insurance painless (especially impressive when I had barely info to provide them). He and Dr. Friedman both had excellent bedside manner, answering any questions I had and doing all they could to ensure I had as good an experience getting teeth yanked out of my skull as possible. Fantastic experience: I was crying and shaking soooo nervous before my procedure but the entire team was extremely KIND and patient. Everyone was so efficient. I really wish I remembered his name but the assistant that was with me talked to me and really helped calm me down. I chose to do IV sedation and they gave me laughing gas before putting the IV in my arm so I was VERY calm by the time anything scary was happening. Everyone felt so routined in the best way, no one was frantic everything felt organized. This was the absolute BEST case scenario for my wisdom teeth extraction that I had been putting off because I was terrified for 2 years. Thank you SO MUCH to Dr. Friedman and his team for everything I will recommend this week five to anyone I know that needs any kind of oral surgery. After 8 days I feel like I am fully back to normal (besides the holes in my mouth of course) by day 5 I had little to no pain just some jaw soreness which is to be expected. I couldn’t believe it. Hardly any swelling either. This office is magic 10/10!!

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at this office. When I went in for a consultation, no one informed me ahead of time that X-rays would cost $300. I was completely blindsided by the charge. On top of that, the assistant, Kenia, was incredibly rude and unprofessional throughout the visit. She made sarcastic comments like, “Oh, you guys didn’t bring your own machine to take your X-rays, right? So we’re going to charge you $300 for your exams.” Her attitude was dismissive and she seemed visibly annoyed the entire time. This is not the level of care or professionalism I expected. I definitely would not recommend this place based on how I was treated.

Fantastic experience: I had my dental implant prep done yesterday with Dr. Zen Schulhof and his amazing staff, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. I tend to have a bit of anxiety (his staff may say it was more than a bit) with dental procedures, but they made me feel so comfortable from the moment I walked in. Everyone was incredibly patient and understanding, which meant a lot to me. Dr. Schulhof was even singing during my procedure—which, believe it or not, actually helped keep me relaxed (not that he’s going to win any singing competitions anytime soon!). It’s rare to find a team that’s both professional and genuinely caring. I’m truly grateful for the way they took care of me. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I was.given a referral for North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to see Dr. Jerald Friedman. My initial meeting with Dr. Friedman was great. He is not only knowledgeable but also approachable. I felt comfortable asking questions and discussing my concerns. He took the time to explain the procedure I needed step by step. and eased any concerns I may have had. I can honestly say Dr. Friedman is very kind and has a wonderful outlook on life and all those that he serves. June his surgical assistant is also funny, kind and very professional as well as the staff.

Fantastic experience: After avoiding getting my wisdom teeth removed for 20 years, I finally got the courage to remove them with the help of Dr. Jerry Friedman. As someone who is anxious about dental work, I was extremely comforted by his calm and patient demeanor. He provided me with various methods of sedation to choose from and he was an expert surgeon from start to finish. His office staff kept me at ease and answered all my questions as well. Not to mention, the office is beautiful!

Fantastic experience: I had my lower wisdom teeth removed almost two weeks ago by Dr. Mahana & my surgery and recovery was wonderful. I had barely any swelling and didn’t need anything stronger than ibuprofen during my recovery. I will absolutely be coming back to remove my top wisdom teeth. The assistants and staff were wonderful, the best you could hope for in a dental/oral surgeon office!

Fantastic experience: Great place! Everyone is very friendly and helpful, taking time to answer questions and explain procedures. I had a difficult tooth extraction. Dr. Mahana was very concerned about my pain level adding some novocaine as needed. I’ve had dental surgeries in the past and wasn’t phased by what was happening. If you are new to dental surgery, this would be the place for you. They removed my molar and I didn’t feel a thing.

Fantastic experience: The best of the best. Had a loose implant that was done 5 years ago. They saw me immediately and didn't charge me. The Paramus office is also absolutely beautiful and the entire staff is phenomenal

Fantastic experience: I went to this facility for an emergency visit after being referred there by my dentist and was treated with the BEST care anyone could ever receive! I was made comfortable from the moment I checked in and the staff there were all AWESOME! Dr. Kim was the oral surgeon I had, and when I tell you he did an EXCELLENT job at calming my nerves and walking me through every step of the procedure I was about to have… Like, I mean my time there was absolutely pleasurable and that’s saying alot coming from someone who panics worse than a toddler having their shots whenever it comes to going to the dentist lol I would encourage anyone needing any type of oral care to trust this team with all of their procedures… I am so thankful to them for being so kind and helping me to become pain free! lol

Dr. Friedman was so thorough, friendly, professionsl & a great dr. that I had confidence in & trusted to di my 5 implants. Both drs ive had here were great.
