Positive experience: This was an incredible place to bring my wife so that she could experience a little bit of diversified shopping. The many stores there were fun to visit, but it did look a little run down in some areas. Good place to go and shop for groceries and fresh meat!

Fantastic experience: The items here are well organized. Price is just right. Variety of selections. I recommend this place.

Positive experience: 10/26/2025: Hong Kong City Mall has been around for decades. It is definitely past its prime with the mall looking run down and old. There was about 15-20% closed stores in the mall.

Fantastic experience: Let me tell you, Hong Kong City Mall is such a lively and colorful place. It’s full of energy with all kinds of shops, restaurants, jewelry stores, beauty salons, and even legal offices. Every time I go, I’m amazed by how much there is to see and taste. It reminds me of when I used to travel when I was younger, with all the smells, flavors, and friendly faces in one place. Some people say the building is a little old now, but to me the spirit of the place is what matters, and that has not faded at all. The community loves it, and there’s always something new to discover. I would gladly recommend it to anyone who wants a warm, vibrant spot full of culture and good food.

Positive experience: Great variety of Asian stores and restaurants but horribly disappointing that you need to bring your own soap or hand sanitizer to use the bathrooms.

Positive experience: I lobe going to Hong Kong city mall for the grocery store! Great spot to buy east Asian plants like vegetables and fruit trees. I love buying fruit trees here, they have calamansi, limes, mango, star fruit, custard apple trees and more available! They also sell desert roses at a good price, last time I checked it was $17. I also like checking out their home goods aisles. I love the variety of chopsticks and dishware. You can get some cute cat themed bowls or find some traditional and fun dishes- like a small sushi boat! Who is stopping you from owning a small boat shaped platter for snacks?

Negative experience: Used to go here in my childhood when it was so busy and bright, full of people and so many stores to buy from. The mall is kind of a shell of its former self now and it's very depressing. There's not much to get here other than food, clothes, tech and repair, hair cuts, and the food market. It was dark in here and most stores were either closed or it was all emptied out. Pretty dirty inside here, couldn't find the bathrooms. Used to really love this place.

Fantastic experience: Sometimes, they have some relevantly affordable toys that I find really enjoyable. They used to sell some cheap remote controlled helicopters a while ago, and I still use it today. The tapioca tea is delicious. And they sell a variety of fancy Asian textiles, seafood, snacks, and a fancy restaurant attached to the right of the building! I ate a bag of crawfish there! It may not be too fancy or modern-built, but it's ancient state makes it much more exotic and beautiful. I wish they kept that Game Room they had before, but other than that, I enjoy every time I go there!

Negative experience: I wanted to love this place, but honestly the one star is for the condition of the bathrooms, they hadn’t been cleaned or maintenanced in months their was no soap… it was horrific..

Vikas Hanumanthu 7 months ago

Positive experience: The mall is not that lightened up. It’s more like depressing and there is no much toast to Shopp as well.

Positive experience: Went here to experience and see Hong Kong City mall as I am not native to Houston. I actually enjoy looking at the authentic cultural shops there. Only got a couple of beauty items. There was a smell throughout the mall. But if you aren’t use to going through Asian and international markets then the smell will throw you off.

Negative experience: Not very clean, men's restroom has no soap, graffiti on their stalls, one stall door was broken and out of order, some stall doors has no locks at all, vending machine was out of order, I would rather use my restroom then this

Positive experience: I always go to Hong Kong City Mall for grocery shopping and other purchases. It is the biggest Asian plaza in Houston, Texas, because it has the largest market, many gift shops, jewelry stores, restaurants, hair and nail salons, law firms, insurance agencies, and many other businesses. I like Hong Kong Supermarket because they have almost everything I need for grocery shopping.

Negative experience: I recently visited Hong Kong City Mall, and unfortunately, my experience wasn’t as positive as I had hoped. While I appreciate the cultural variety and the number of shops and food options available, the overall condition of the mall could definitely use improvement. The first thing I noticed upon walking in was the air quality — there was an unpleasant smell throughout the building that made it difficult to fully enjoy the visit. Additionally, many areas, especially the common walkways, appeared dusty and not well-maintained. Cleanliness plays a big role in how comfortable a place feels, and sadly, this location fell short in that regard. That said, I do think the businesses inside have a lot of potential and the community clearly values the mall for its specialty stores and restaurants. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and upkeep, this place could truly shine as a cultural hub and shopping destination. I hope management takes note and makes improvements soon, as I would love to return and have a better experience next time

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this store for years. They have groceries from several Asian countries. A very extensive selection. Today i accidentally left one of my bags when I left. When I got home and realized it I figured it was gone. That was my experience at other stores. When I went back to the store to buy the items again they had saved the bag I had left. What a great surprise.

Positive experience: I found it funny that this "Hong Kong" mall has no shops that are "Hong Kong" at all. Should change the name ah!. Saigon or Hanoi or Da Nang or Ha Long Bay.

Positive experience: I recently visited this Hong Kong Vity Mall and was impressed by the amazing variety of products they offer. If you're looking for any item from East Asia, this is definitely the place to find it! From food ingredients to household items, they have almost everything you need. The most interesting part of the store for me is the section at the back with beautiful ceramic dishes such unique and delicate pieces that are hard to find elsewhere. However, the hygiene in the store could be improved, especially in some areas. Despite that, the quality and variety of products make it worth visiting. I'll definitely be coming back for their unique selection!

Negative experience: Many closed shop doors as of December 2024. The bathroom is disgusting. Four out of 6 urinals are non-functional. The floor, urinals, and toilets are absolutely disgusting. I don't need to describe what I see. Use your imagination.

Negative experience: This is probably a good place for Vietnamese who does not speak English well. There are plenty of restaurants and services specific to Vietnamese. However it's not well kept. Floor are dirty. Foods market is not clean and the fresh aisles smell bad.

Negative experience: Second time coming here & this second time the experience was horrible. The food was great!! Only reason I gave two stars & the market is pretty cool too.. This time around my daughters & I felt extremely uncomfortable. We could tell we were not welcomed & they were being a bit racist. We understand we are not Asian. We are Latinas, but if the roles were reversed. Latinos would be more welcoming for sure. Such a bummer I thought Houston was supposed to be diverse.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here ever since I was a child. I wouldn't really consider this much of a mall, but they have a decent variety of stores. Most of the stores tend to be pretty dead, though. The main focus of Hong Kong City Mall would be the grocery store. It's huge and has a large selection of oriental food and items. Relatively clean in the stores, but the bathrooms can be a bit gross. Overall, Hong Kong City Mall is a chill place to hang out, buy groceries, or grab a quick bite. They also host Chinese New Year events here.

Negative experience: I don't know who faults it is, the retailer or the wholesaler, but I've purchase them plastic containers of soy bean drink here and all three times it was bad. I will never buy soy bean drink here again. Also their pre packaged pork chop loins seems and feels like a sponge. Very watery and soft. Not sure if they injected the meat with anything but im not taking no chances. Other prok loins at different market don't look and feel like these loins. I stopped buying the pork loins here.

Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying this place will have everything oriental you could possibly imagine. The grocery is massive with tons of options. There are lots of stores and bakeries in the mall as well as gift and clothing stores. Everyone is very nice but the area is not the nicest place in the world. Don’t compare it to the galleria.

Negative experience: Ladies and gentlemen, I am here today to share with you a review of the amazing Hong Kong City Mall, starring none other than our very own main character, Joe Biden. Now, let me tell you, Joe Biden may be the President of the United States, but today he's taking on a new role as the hero of our mall adventure. Picture this: Joe strolling through the maze of shops and restaurants at Hong Kong City Mall, sporting his signature aviator sunglasses and flashing that charming smile of his. As he navigates through the bustling crowds, Joe can't help but get distracted by the tantalizing aroma of street food wafting through the air. Being the foodie that he is, Joe decides to take a detour and sample some of the local delicacies. With his signature enthusiasm, Joe dives into a plate of piping hot dumplings, his face lighting up with delight as he savors each bite. And let me tell you, folks, watching Joe enjoy those dumplings is a sight to behold - it's like he's found his own little slice of heaven right here in the heart of Hong Kong City Mall. But the fun doesn't stop there, oh no. Joe's next stop is the electronics section, where he can't resist trying out the latest gadgets and gizmos. With a childlike twinkle in his eye, Joe experiments with virtual reality headsets, drones, and smart devices, much to the amusement of onlookers who can't believe their luck at witnessing the President of the United States goofing around like a kid in a candy store. And as the day draws to a close, Joe bids farewell to Hong Kong City Mall with a satisfied grin on his face, knowing that he's had the time of his life exploring this vibrant hub of activity and culture. So, my friends, if you ever find yourself in need of a good laugh and a great time, take a leaf out of Joe Biden's book and head on over to Hong Kong City Mall. Who knows, you might just bump into the man himself, striking up conversation with locals, sampling street food, and spreading joy wherever he goes. Thank you, and remember: laughter is the best therapy, especially when it comes with a side of dumplings and drones!

Negative experience: Disappointing. Despite being called "Hong Kong" City Mall, it's pretty much entirely Vietnamese stores. None of the bakeries appeared to be actually doing any of their own baking - just bringing in premade stuff. The only redeeming feature was the large grocery store.

Negative experience: The cashier named NHU is rude and incompetent. She overcharged me by putting a more expensive item and refused to bag my items . I complained and the employee at the customer service named LOC refused again to pack my items and they were offensive and insulting. They have dead flies on the frozen chicken meat and the whole place is unhealthy and unhygienic. Never go there ever again and just let this place get closed .

Negative experience: We went to shopping on this market, we bought 2 case of soy milk, after we finish pay, we went to our car and find out it only one (1) case, but we pay for two(2). We went back to talk to talk to one of the cashiers. They denied it. It my fault to check it before wenwalk out, but it not worth it for us to steal the soy milk. It only 18 bucks. The thing is ine if the case was missing either fall off in side store, not on street. The cashiers never check. When I say I have 2 case of soy milk then he scan one case, and time 2. It not about the money, or about the soy milk. They know it better tuat it not worth it for us to cheat on one case of soy milk because we shop on this store over $300 , it not worth for me to cheat on $18 buck. It was partnof my fault that I did not check it before leaving store. This matter i post in here ti let people know that check you stuff before you leaving the store. Onece you missing your stuff. They will not work with you. You on you own once you finish paying.

Positive experience: Mall and retail plaza anchored by the food market. I'm giving it an extra star because it has that 1980s synthwave vibe as you walk down the corridor. I really enjoyed the way light came through some parts of the building. Some shops are super busy and popular and others not so much. Most any service you'd need for day-to-day life is in the mall. Small but high quality food court. The bathroom is rough. It's worth checking out.

Positive experience: I came here late on a Friday night after dining nearby. I’m always down to explore new places, so I wanted to check this out while I was close. I’ve heard about it before but not being originally from the area, I’m only familiar with the history of it from word of mouth. I came in about 30 minutes before most of the businesses were going to close for the night, so I was not lingering too long in any one shop. Being someone who always wants to support local businesses, I made it a point to purchase some food from several of the bakeries located in there. If I hadn’t already eaten, I’d definitely would’ve bought a bánh mì. Everything I did buy was reasonably priced and tasted great! Each shop had its own vibe, with most of them being Vietnamese operated. As always when I have the opportunity, I took the chance to practice my tiếng việt, with mixed results but all of the shop staff were helpful and polite, even when my tones were off. In my case, they greeted me upon entering and let me browse to my hearts content, not saying much until I asked a question or made a statement. I appreciate the relaxed vibe myself. There were so many food, snacks and drinks that I felt a little remorse for what I did not purchase. That being said, I’ll return another day, much earlier and take more time to browse. I didn’t make it into the grocery store, so I’ll do that on my next visit as well. This was probably one of the least busy spaces, I’ve been in the area. I can see that it’s seen its glory days come and go but I can only imagine the history of this place. It would make for a cool documentary. Better yet hopefully, the building and businesses will get revitalized in the future. I always love coming and hanging out on Đại Lộ Sàigòn and embrace the culture and support the people and businesses.

Negative experience: Upon arrival, I noticed the parking lot had many pot holes and cracks. I would drive very slow in this parking lot. The parking spots also seem to be smaller than normal. For instance, my truck is a full, 4 door, 2 cabin, and my bed was sticking out bad. However, there was nothing I could do but leave it as is in its spot. So i would recommend taking a car if u have the option. The inside of the market was not much better in terms of cleanliness. Wet napkins and empty boxes everywhere (watch were u step). I would only go back if I am in dier need of a product that I simply could not get anywhere else other than that I have no desire to return.

Negative experience: Sadly there aren’t many choices when it comes to Vietnamese SuperMarket out here in the Houston area. This spot is pretty meh. We’ve seen a huge cockroach here crawling in one of the aisle before during midday so that was very concerning when shopping for groceries here. Also, keep an eye on your car and belongings places in your vehicle, a lot of shady stupid crimes happening in the parking lot of this place. Viet Hoa is another Vietnamese Supermarket not too far from this one, and it’s a bit better in my opinion!

Fantastic experience: Such a cool place! Tons of Asian products, meat, seafood, and produce in the market. There are a variety of other shops and eateries that specialize in Asian apparel and food. The is a foot spa that has the best foot massage. However, be aware that they want you to tip minimum of $10 on a $35 service. No where does it say that, but we were told to tip that by the person at the register.

Positive experience: this place has amazing food and such a variety of places, but.. those mini machines that u put coins in are a RIPOFF! i put a quarter in and did not get my prize, in those “sticky hammers”, they’re just hands. I inserted a quarter in the “animal erasers” and it went well until i got a bracelet. makes no sense!

Positive experience: This was a great place to buy seafood and health supplements unique in the Asian culture such as the lemon ginger and honey tea. The prices were very reasonable. You ought to know the products of your interest because reps and workers within the store hardly willing to offer any advising on products on sell.

Positive experience: Small Vietnamese mall in little Saigon. There was a grocery store and some restaurants and bakeries overall a nice place to explore a different culture. But was almost empty and felt more like a giant grocery store than a mall.

Fantastic experience: Although I've seen some bad reviews of this place, I will say to that I can agree with some of them but not all. So the downfalls would be. Yes the parking lot can be a bit insane. The mall was clean but the bathrooms are a bit unattended. The smell is mainly all of the restraunts and vendors combined, not a bad. You don't come here for that. You come here for the atmosphere and the culture. I absolutely love Hong Kong City Mall. There is so much to see, buy and eat. There are many restaurants within the mall, and I've almost tried all of them. The people who work within the mall are inviting. They have a huge grocery store inside with good quality seafood at a fair price. Almost everything sold in the store is cheaper than if you were to get it somewhere else. Everytime I go I grab something new. My kids love it, so everytime we go to chinatown houston, we always make a stop here. I definitely would recommend anyone to checkout this place.

I'm pretty sure they have a lot of stuff.. oh yeah I used to get my 5 gallon water jugs refilled here but that's also been a while since I've been here.... But overall they always look packed when I pass by there's plenty cars on the parking... There's one building that they're kept on trying to build something but it's been abandoned for years.. I wish they would build something there

Positive experience: I dont ever remember the inside being this huge. A lot of places have popped up inside. Some food spots, bathrooms on the very far left end, seems kind of sleepy. I definitely would encourage people to walk the whole thing if you are coming to the market inside, pretty interesting.

Fantastic experience: A charming shopping mall with lots of Asian stores. The name may be a bit misleading, most of the stores are Vietnamese, not Chinese. Might be because of a shift in demographics over the years. Nonetheless you will have a lot of fun here.

Positive experience: Everything authentic and Vietnamese is what you will find here. Hong Kong city mall also carries Vietnam native fruit trees such as dragonfruit and soursop. Because it is in a sketchy area, I would say be aware of your surroundings. There is a cop designated in the mall, but just be aware. Besides that, enjoy!

Negative experience: Restroom on the side of the food court was opened by the Janitor. Allowing people to walk by watching me unrinate in the stalls. Ask the janitor people why they keep it open because people can walk by and see people urinate. They told me it was the mall policy to keep the restroom doors wide open. I don't want people walking by watching me unrinate from outside. How is this even legal? It's an invasion of privacy!

Positive experience: My first time there. I went only to the supermarket inside. I did not have time to walk around and see the other little stores inside the mall. The market is very big and has a lot of products. The seafood area is big and they have some fishes a life to buy. Was a nice experience. I will come back. They have aisle with only teas and sauces.... Love it. Also the vegetables area is huge and you can find everything and more..... Candy section was very interesting too. Next time I will go with more time. Bit if you want to see and find exotic items I recommend a little tour here. I know there are more supermarket close but never visit yet so I can not compare with others.

Positive experience: Sometimes the best hidden gems are not in a restaurants or a bar, but at Asian grocery stores, or at the food court. At Hong Kong City Mall, it is an Asian shopping mall with 100+ stores from clothing to grocery store, tea shops, pastry shops and all kinds of interesting things. You explore, you will be rewarded with interesting finds. During our visit, our friends all participated to play a game. Each person has to explore this shopping mall and come up with a most interesting or unique item from a store that is less than $5 USD. It was fun as we discovers so many items that are less than $5 USD and we all got to try the various food items that we each bought. You should play this game with your friends and family. It's definitely way to get to know your friends and family better!

Positive experience: One of the Vietnamese trademark supermarket in Houston. Very popular. Located on Bellaire Blvd or Dai Lo Little Saigon Area. You can find literally everything imported from Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Korea and China. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fishes. They got fish tanks here. Cut and clean for you for free. Their main attraction is the natural homegrown flowers and plants from South East Asian. You have to come by and check out yourself. Highly recommend for any visitors. However the manager should always clean and keep the restrooms cleaned. This is Health Issue and official state and CDC law.

Negative experience: To be honest, I grew up in this larger strip grocery store mall as a kid. I really enjoyed the culture and food. However upon re-visiting and as an adult, I felt that there exist a epidemic at this location that I must have missed as a kid. First of all I want to say I love culture and appreciate hertiage. I have traveled the world including 4 years in South East Asia. I just want to put that out there before anyone calls me for cultural appropriation. I am Vietnamese and have lived and worked in Asia. The way that the employees inside the market treats you depending how you dress or how light your skin is- is just shameful. As an Asian community we already face so much pressure to conform and be the "model citizen", that the last thing we need is not to be able to feel comfortable within our own community with our strict and unrealistic expectations for each other. I do not know how many times I have been "shoo" as if I was a dog by the janitorial staff here because I am Asian and not a white guy. "Shoo" over things such as not returning a cart inside the store before leaving, a cart which I found outside before coming in. In comparison- when a lighter skin person visit, never is the staff rude. I personally feel very disappointed as I expected all of this living in Asia-in my previous life, but never in the America I grew up in. These minor rips and tears that the staff of this establishment display embodies the strain in the very fabric of our community. Yes market place interactions within the Asian community do impact and determines what our children see as we take them on our weekly super market trips. Remember back, you know this is true. So yes I want to see the staff of this establishment do better- as groceries such as these can too be the Hallmark and Culutral Health of a community's lifeblood for the future.

Negative experience: This place has gone downhill. I remember it used to be a very nice place to visit, but fast forward 10 years and I was not impressed. The mall seemed like maintenance and cleaning were not a priority. There was a smell throughout the whole mall. Every store we entered seemed to be staring at us like we were going to steal something. One store the cashier was recording us on her phone. Then a clothing store even refused to sell us anything, They told me that I should go shop two stores down if I wanted a shirt. I was appalled, I will take my hard earned money elsewhere.

Negative experience: First, the good things. There are indeed a variety of businesses. There are many options for food, drinks, and shopping. The bad things. The area is filthy disgusting. I saw several people just drop their trash while walking, or from their car windows. Numerous cigarette butts are on the ground. There is rotting food in several places. Trashed carts dot the lot. There are several dead plants. There’s stagnant water and broken fountains. There’s birdsh*t accumulated under awnings and signage. There are numerous broken lights. Parking is difficult. The main walkway awning is rotting right off the metal. The paint is faded. Flies are about, you can see them in one of my photos. I saw zero efforts to control rats. Security patrols the lot, but one watch of them and you know they’re ineffective. Look. This is Houston. There are malls and strip centers all over. Hong Kong Market is not the only supplier of fresh and unique Asian inspired items. I personally like clean areas.

Fantastic experience: The atmosphere is wonderful, great little shops ! It’s a very welcoming and interesting place to visit. The durian here is amazing , I love the durian smoothie with jelly that they serve! Have some live entertainment or performances that you may run into, and has a really nice market with variety of products/produce inside.

Positive experience: At first I read the place wrong and I thought it was deceptive but it was more than I ever thought and was extremely nice with a mixture of different things for the Asian community but regardless I think all walks of life can find something for their selfs in this place with an open mind.

Positive experience: I forgot how great this place was, but I also forgot how hard the acetone smell is near the salon. It carries pretty hard until you hit the food court on either side. Other than that, I highly recommend visiting this iconic Bellaire spot.

Positive experience: As always, Hong Kong has a good selection of Asian foods and ingredients. I go here every so often to get the essentials I can't live without. They have pretty good stock everytime I go there but be careful, some items are past their due dates and haven't been taken off the shelves yet.

Positive experience: Great selection of Asian groceries and was able to get some hard to find items. The rest of the mall had various businesses including a bustling food court.

Negative experience: I love going to this place to shop and wander around, it feels like you're transported into a different world when you're here. I also love taking pictures here and buying unique knick knacks for friends and family, things that you can't find anywhere else. I am giving a 2 star rating because I am disappointed with the food (in the supermarket) that they have been putting out lately, it could be slow due to covid and they are not throwing out the food properly and are trying to hang on to expired old food. I bought some veggie chips that were stale and my favorite mango mochi tasted old and musty (not the first time this happened). If you shop here you are pulling a trigger on some food items because not all have an expiration date. If you are adventurous and don't care then fine, but if you more frugal and cautious about spending too much then this is not a good place to grocery shop. Food here can be quite expensive, a small basket can fetch up to $60-$80 (I mostly get snacks and drinks). If you are adventurous and want to explore Houston's culturally diverse scene then I admit this spot is amazing to bring your date to and for photography.

Positive experience: This mall is an interesting destination for anyone looking to truly appreciate ther diversity of Houston. Or a little flavor of life in a foreign market. Various shops line the air conditioned hallways where the main store is a grocery store (with 90% Asian products, aside from meats and produce, which of course is truly showing products you are not likely to see at Kroger or Randall's). The shops have Asian clothing, pastries, beauty products, etc. Then there are the places in the food court. Great for a tapioca filled smoothie of your choosing! Keep walking and you'll find the old timers playing games on the tables of the food court along with younger men sharing what seems to be a great pastime.

Fantastic experience: They have everything Asian here, cuts of meat you can't find anywhere else and tons of seafood, along with shrooms that are very hard to find a one stop mall worth going too

Negative experience: The place is excellent but its workers work with a bad face and reluctance, specifically those in the butcher shop. They should change the staff, apart from that no one speaks Spanish and those who speak do not want to speak to you, I do not know their comment is of any use, but today I was disappointed with those of the butcher, everyone has a bad character if it is not because the market is super ms i would never go

Fantastic experience: Love all the different fruit jelly jars they sell here. They taste wonderful. And the Honey Aloe Vera drinks and Pineapple are my favorite! I buy the rice bowls here along with soy sauce plates and other kitchen ware.
