Fantastic experience: My third visit to this dentist and each time I go, they are excellent. Everyone there is super nice and friendly. Dr. White is an incredibly nice man and he’s an extremely competent dentist. His approach is so gentle that I no longer feel that dread about going to the dentist. The hygienists are equally nice and gentle. Everyone from the front desk to the entire staff are incredibly friendly and nice. Brand new, state of the art equipment and the entire facility is spotlessly clean. I highly recommend this practice!!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience, yet again! The dental hygienist staff are very pleasant and you can tell they enjoy their work and show up to work happy! My dentist was quick and thorough with the exam!

Negative experience: GO AT YOUR OWN RISK! I do not believe that a reputable dentist that was confident in their work would slip you a paper to sign right before doing a crown releasing the office of all responsibilities and liabilities associated with dental work. The paper stated, "I voluntarily accept all risks, including potential substantial harm, associated with this treatment, in hope of achieving the desired results, which may or may not be attained." I don't know about anybody else but if I pay the money to have something done properly then it very well should be attainable.

Fantastic experience: Due to a dental emergency they were able to get us in quickly. The entire process was smooth and everyone from the receptionist, dentist, dental assistant and check out were amazing. The dental assistant and dentist made sure my child knew what was happening and was prepared. A few hours later we happened to see the dental assistant and she stopped and spoke and asked how he was doing!

Fantastic experience: Amazing visit…had to get my teeth cleaned and didn’t have to wait long to be seen after my check in…staffing was amazing and was very detailed about my teeth and had the best experience. Negative experience: I went in for a routine visit and was told I needed a deep cleaning that wasn’t covered by insurance. The way it was presented made the situation sound urgent and much worse than it actually was. I felt a lot of pressure to move forward with expensive treatments right away. Thankfully, I got a second opinion and was told the deep cleaning wasn’t needed. I was also told I had a cavity that required a filling, which turned out to be just an air bubble. It felt like fear-based tactics were being used to push unnecessary treatments. I left feeling that the focus was more on making money than on patient care. I wouldn’t recommend this office.

I have very high anxiety with going to the dentist. I enjoy my teeth and smile so I go to the dentist regularly. . Tamela did an excellent job cleaning my teeth; she was very gentle and handled me with care. I remain relaxed when visiting this dental office. Dr. Butcher who performed my exam ; very professional, knowledgeable and personable. I recommend this practice!

From good music to excellent care and genuine concern for my pain and comfort! If you need a professional, genuinely caring Dentist, then please go see them!

Negative experience: i was told very clearly that an exam and x-rays would cost $161. upon leaving, they told me that my total was $280. when i questioned this, they said that it was because i got 'the big x-ray'. how was i supposed to know what x-ray they were choosing to give me and how much it would cost? absolute lack of price transparency and very scammy behavior.

Fantastic experience: I get so anxious when I go to the dentist but Tamika ( I hope I spelled that right) and Dr White were awesome!!! They both made me so comfortable and relaxed. I hate that I didn’t come see them sooner!! Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: This is a great dentist office. All new technology without paying a premium price. My hygienist is quick, thorough, and makes sure I am comfortable. That is also important if you have children. We have been going here for 7 years now.

Negative experience: Today was my first time at this office and I was really impressed. They were all very welcoming, Tameka was really kind and put my mind at ease. Dr. Mole was also really down to earth and easy to work with. I didn’t wait long, and the checkout person was also very kind. Overall, I recommend the folks at this office because, unlike other offices I’ve visited in the past, they seemed to genuinely care and were not pushy at all. Above is my original review that was five stars from a year ago. Today, due to oversights with the front desk, I will no longer be utilizing this practice. I scheduled a follow-up cleaning, was then contacted four times to reschedule and confirm, which I did, then to receive another call two days before, during my work hours, that was missed. Because I did not confirm it within two days, the appointment was cancelled. Very disappointed to have wasted time in the middle of my work day and I will be visiting a different practice in the morning, that got me in with no problem, and had much better servicing on the scheduling side. Sad to not be able to enjoy the services because of appointment issues, but this was really unacceptable as I’d already confirmed this weeks in advance and accommodated your office by rescheduling. A text confirmation would be much more satisfactory for those that work and cannot answer calls during the business hours that conflict with most other working people.

Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist can sometimes be something one doesn’t look forward to. Gastonia Family Dentistry offers a pleasant and efficient office experience. They have huge and calming landscape photos throughout and the people working with you are just as lovely. I was seen quickly with almost no wait time. I’ve never had X-rays ‘in the round’ which were simply done and extremely thorough as was the follow on them. My tech was gentle yet thorough as she did the cleaning and explained what she was doing as she went along. I’d definitely recommend this group if you’re shopping for a dental group!

Positive experience: Let me start by saying that I've been a long time patron of this dentist. Myself, my wife, and oldest daughter have been going here for over 3 years. This place used to be amazing. People were friendly, the dentists really cared, and they were always so fast. The quality of care never suffered despite any challenges. Recently that seems to have changed. I haven't really had a personal interaction with a dentist or a hygenist in multiple visits. It's also hard when my hygenist keeps changing...additionally the dentists always seem to be in a rush or unavailable. I know they're probably busy, but it feels like they just don't care any more. To top it off I just got 3 fillings and they left chunks of composite everywhere. Multiple rough edges, nothing is even or smoothed and he did all of them in less than 30 minutes...that's not quality to me. 18 months ago I would have 100% recommended. Now I have to look at maybe finding some new options.

Fantastic experience: I needed a crown on my root canal. Unfortunately I didn’t become completely numb and needed the other 1/2 of numbing meds. At no fault of my doctor. I have had 2 root canal’s done on the same tooth we were trying to prep and crown. It ends up taking too much time to finish my procedure. No worries, I was given a cap after the prep work and an appointment for 2 weeks to have the crown placed. Well my first meal and the cap came off while I was chewing my chicken pot pie. Oh well. I will call tomorrow. I was given Fixodent in case this very problem occurred. I’m not upset. Things happen.

Fantastic experience: Michaela and Miranda were great! Michaela is always concerned about my comfort. Miranda worked diligently to get my partials to fit comfortably. The are both very professional and knowledgeable! Dr. North always takes time to see if everything fit correctly. They're all very attentive to my needs.

Fantastic experience: I cannot express how pleased I am with everyone at Gastonia Family Dentistry, they take time to walk me through step by step, answer all my questions, work extremely well with my benefit provider and the treatment outcome has surpass my expectations every visit. "I Salute You All" and couldn't be more pleased with the work, the doctors and wonderful staff, thank you all!

Negative experience: Questionable practices. Abysmal billing office. Imagine your family member just wants a basic cleaning. And this place wants to do a deep cleaning. And you decline. But they insist on a deep cleaning. And they tell you it’s covered by your insurance. And then some time later you get a bill for the full cost because the insurance denied the claim. And imagine you called the dentist to ask what’s going on. And they told you that YOU need to be the go-between and petition your insurance company. And then you call your insurance company. And they explain that the claim was denied because the service was unnecessary. And that the dentist needs to contact them to appeal the decision. And imagine spending days and weeks and months following up with the dentist office to try to get them to do their jobs. And instead of appealing, they just resubmit the claims. And have them denied again. And then they start threatening to send your account to collections, while they continue not to do their job and appeal. And then imagine after months of going back and forth, they actually appeal one of the two claims (but not the other because why would you do your actual job….completely?). And imagine insurance actually pays them. And imagine then they send you ANOTHER bill, for the claim they STILL DIDN’T appeal. And imagine you called them again, asking them to somehow manage to do their job properly twice, and submit a second appeal for the second claim. And imagine, instead of sending an appeal letter to your insurance company, they send it to YOU. And imagine you call them again asking why it’s so hard for people to do their actual jobs, and they tell you, that that the person you’ve thoroughly explained all this to, repeatedly over 3 months is out of the office and maybe they could give you call back next week. Then imagine, you call again, the next week, trying to make sure they get paid. And you try to inform them that they’ve messed up and sent you the appeal instead of your insurance provider. But imagine the person who didn’t do their job properly is mad that you’re calling them out for their continuous failures. So they refuse to discuss it with you, claiming you’re not on file for your family member’s HIPAA. Even though you’ve been discussing this exact issue in detail for 3 months. So it’s either they’ve fully violated HIPAA for the last 3 months, or they’re fully lying to you now because they don’t want to be held accountable. Either way, still incompetent and unprofessional. So you just ask, if they accept that you’re telling them they need to resubmit the appeal because they sent it to you. And this woman who’s mad says “No!” And they insist on a new HIPAA agreement from your family member. So you play their game. You have your family member submit a new HIPAA. They ask your family member not to let you call back because you are “not nice.” Like asking them for 3 months to do their job properly is not nice. And you call back to discuss this again. They won’t answer the phone. So you have to come in person to the office to explain and discuss the whole thing again. And you explain it all again because they aDr like they don’t know who you are or what’s been going on all these months. And you ask them again to just do their jobs. Well guess what? It will all get done finally. But then they’ll send you a letter in the mail refusing to ever provide services again because you were mean and rude. As if you would ever want to subject yourself to such incompetence again. I have never in my life worked so hard for someone else to get paid. I work, full time to take care of my family. I work overtime to make sure Gastonia Family Dentistry does their own job, so they can get paid too. Unprofessional. Unreliable. And fully incompetent. Avoid them at all costs. Because if you ask them for 3 months to do their actual job, you’re not nice, mean, and rude.
