Negative experience: I have had the unfortunate experience of being a patient to GEDC for a 4 years consecutively so I feel as though this review is quite accurate. After expressing my grievances through the proper channels with no response, I began going to GEDC because I was under the impression they had their Business in order like that of Kaiser’s, where majority of their doctors are under one umbrella, but this particular organization No matter the location in Georgia have the poorest level of customer service, with the most disappointing classless employees. So if you’re looking for a dentist and don’t be lazy like I did do your diligence.

Fantastic experience: I love Pansy!! She is one of the BEST hygienist in the world!! Dr. Tran is awesome!! These two together make a dynamic team!!

Fantastic experience: This was the best experience I have had at a dental office in a long time. I was not rushed and the Endodontist took his time to explain to me the issues, recommendations and next steps to resolve the problem teeth. I walked away clear on my options and how to procedure. Definitely making g this my home dental office.

Positive experience: They are great once you get in the door but their pre-appointment process is horrible. They outsource some of their work to a corporate call center where the agents are flaky and poor communicators. You don't always receive a confirmation when making an appointment. If you schedule the appointment yourself online, a banner flashes to tell you that they will call you to verify your insurance---except they never do call. And when you diligently, take it upon yourself to call them to verify your insurance, they fail to inform you that it is not parking friendly neighborhood--something you'd expect to tell a first-time patient. Maybe other locations are better staffed or the hassle is less due to better parking.

Fantastic experience: I have never had a bad experience with this dental office I have had a lot of dental issues and this office made me a smile. I have recommended several friends and family members to this office in Decatur with the same results.

Fantastic experience: My new hygienist took me to the exam/treatment room shortly after I checked in at the front desk and sat down in the waiting room. Her technique in positioning the equipment in my mouth for bitewing X-rays provided my first ever pain-free experience with that hard equipment, given the tori in the floor of my mouth. Before final polishing of my teeth, she addressed the stains from my daily consumption of coffee and tea, again the first time that I recall getting that special attention to these common stains. I’m very happy to stay with her for my future cleaning appointments.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Eddie Woods is an excellent dentist. I was referred for a root canal and I have not had any discomfort or swelling following or after 24 hours. He and his team took great care to explain the procedure and provided verbal and written directions afterwards. The entire team made me feel comfortable and confident that I was receiving excellent care. They were kind and professional and I highly recommend Dr. Woods for specialized dental services.

Fantastic experience: The Dental assistant was very cool ( I think her name was Jalani) I pray i have that correct, she made me feel very comfortable. Also they were very professional but natural. It was a good experience no one likes going to the Dentist but at least i was treated well while i was there at Great Expressions.

Negative experience: Did not receive any services beyond X-rays from this office but I was not pleased with the intake appointment. Every office is different but I was disappointed to realize my appointment only included X-rays and an examination, not a cleaning. Several other reviews mention this, and it would have been nice to be notified AHEAD of time that another appointment would need to be scheduled. I recognize that depending on the patient, different intensities of cleaning are required and they likely do this to maximize their patient load. While I understand this, I have never been to a dentist and not had my teeth cleaned, even at a new office. I was not keen on the bedside manner of my hygienist, her summary of my assessment seemed rushed, scripted, and frankly judgmental. While I can recognize that being a hygienist is INCREDIBLY taxing/difficult, I want to be seen as a person, not as a head with teeth to be dealt with. I had to contact this office 3 times to receive my X-rays and even filled out a release form in person and still was not forwarded my X-rays. Stephanie, Asya, and everyone at the front desk was very courteous and polite which I appreciated. In summary, as a healthcare facility one of their FIRST goals in an intake appointment should be to establish trust, and I don’t trust healthcare professionals who don’t show me genuine care. Lastly, I put no personal blame for my negative experience on anyone who I interacted with in this office, it seems to me that this chain/corporate ownership does not incentivize staff to give quality care but likely puts pressure on them to see as many patients as possible. Not to mention the lawsuit Great Expressions faced in 2024… If you’re a sensitive person like myself, save yourself some time and find a different office.

Fantastic experience: Dr Woods in THE BEST endodontist in the world!!! This comes from a 22 year veteran dental hygienist!! From the injection that I didn’t feel to placing back the temp crown. Time management the best I can’t say enough good things about him. If you are ever so lucky to be in his chair consider yourself fortunate. I only get the best doctors and he is one of them. I only speak on him no one else. Well Nora the Hygienist is pretty awesome too. Same work ethic as Dr Woods

Positive experience: This was my first time coming to this office. It is located in downtown Decatur, on the 3rd floor. This was a great experience. They were on time, professional and friendly, and helpful. In particular, my hygenist Nora was great. She explained every step and was thorough. The only downside was the parking. The parking garage next to their office cost $12!

The knowledge that this team has is crazy...they also break down everything and explain it in a way that the patient can understand. I am so happy that I was referred to this office. I've found my new dental family...even though they're 65mins from my home Update 6/17/25: Mrs Lee took very good care of me even with me being late for my appointment. She very personable and always pleasant. I love my new dentist and the staff. The young woman up front are always welcoming and funny. 6 star business

Negative experience: I have left Great Expressions and found another dentist. The dentists and dental assistants at GE are fine, but the billing is a mess. For two years, I was typically unable to get reimbursement from my Health Savings Account because of inadequate documentation or GE's inability to explain charges. Yesterday, I went for a yearly checkup on gum surgery. I was told it would be free. After the 20 second exam (which was fine), I was told the co-pay was $104. I questioned this. They checked. Oh, sorry, there's no co-pay, they said. My suspicion is that they "up-charge" everything, calling a quick checkup a "consultation" in this case, and see what they can get away with. That's why I'm no longer using Great Expressions.

Positive experience: The wait in the dental chairs was extremely tooooo longgggggg! My appointment was changed from 4:00 pm to 3:00 pm. When I was called, the dental assistant was lost about the matter--the rescheduling--with no sense of direction as to how to handle it other than put me in two different dental rooms for nearly two hours. As I stated above, I was scheduled for service at 3:00 pm. I got seen around 5:30 pm. Lastly, I was expecting a more surgical procedure for the root canal. The dentist drilled a little here and a little there, then walked away. Another assistant asked him, "Are you finished [with Mr. Bonner]?" Seemingly he thought for a second or two, then replied, "Yes." I'm still in awe. jrb

Fantastic experience: Warm , friendly ,welcoming and prompt staff. Dr Woods is an exemplary Clinician . He moved with confidence and calmness throughout my procedure.I felt NO PAIN .His voice completely grounded me throughout my procedure as he instructed and informed me of every step till my procedure was completed . Absolutely NO STRESS .Absolute COMFORT and the procedure itself took approximately 30 minutes .Once the RCT was completed An X-ray of the treated canals revealed that my treatment was successful .I was than given post op instructions and released. NO ONE DROPPED BALL I have worked with several doctors in and out of the state Georgia since 1993 as a RDH and I assure you ,Dr Woods and his staff are PHENOMENAL . Thank you team for taking excellent care of me

Fantastic experience: Pansey Ramsey is the best Hygienist in Decatur. She's friendly, pleasant and patient. She's so caring and thoughtful, I'm so glad that Great Expressions has a wonderful employee like her

Fantastic experience: Had thee most fantastic visit today. I always love coming because the staff is so kind and helpful. The cleanings do not hurt me and they are not pushy with recommendations for toothbrushes or other products/services that you can purchase with them. I love this dentists' office and my dentist Dr. Collins is so knowledgeable. He explained the science behind fluoride and answered all my random questions about tooth supplements I found on amazon... He's so cool and very easy on the eyes:)

Negative experience: . I recently visited as a new patient and was disappointed by the rude and unprofessional behavior of the front desk staff. They made uncomfortable, indirect remarks and displayed inappropriate facial expressions. This made me question their ability to handle patient confidentiality. On a positive note, the dentist was professional and provided good care, but the unpleasant experience with the front desk has left me hesitant to return. I hope they address this issue moving forward

Fantastic experience: Excellent Dental service . Office is always clean, staff always professional, efficient and kind . Services are great. I extremely recommend them if you want great dental service . Only downside is the parking which is not validated. Overall Excellent otherwise

Negative experience: I had my first visit to get my teeth cleaned. After getting an x-ray, I was told that I would not be able to get my teeth cleaned that day. They only would be doing an assessment and will then prepare a treatment plan. As I was having no problems, I found this odd. More x-rays and measurements were taken. At the end, I was told I needed a “deep cleaning” which would require two separate appointments. I have never had or needed a deep cleaning, so I was a bit confused. I requested a normal/maintenance cleaning. I was told I had to have the two-session deep cleaning first. I left without scheduling the appointment. This process seems all about a means to bill for more services. I find this unacceptable. The location was also in an older, not well maintained building in Decatur. The elevator was not working at the time. I can’t recommend this dental office.

Negative experience: Have been twice. Won’t go back. There’s always a 20+ minute wait after my appointment time, the parking is expensive, the hygenist is not thorough, the dentist seems like he’s barely paying attention during a cavity fix, and they do sleazy up selling of unnecessary stuff like rinsing with listerine that insurance doesn’t cover because it’s unnecessary.

Fantastic experience: Every staff member I encountered during this last visit today to Great Expressions Dental in Decatur was great, from the front desk, to the walking out the door. A particular stand out was Lynn, who attended to me for some sensitive imaging; she was very easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and caring. I am totally comfortable and confident to continue my dental care with Great Expressions under the care of Dr. Lee. Thank you all for making the experience, well, GREAT. Side note- Lynn's nails are '10's 'across the board .

Negative experience: Sad to say I will no longer be coming back to this office, I thought I would be in and out since I was only here to get my permanent retainer reapplied but it took an hour for this lady ( I don’t know her name) to do the procedure. She was nice the second I went in the back but soon after her whole attitude changed and for whatever reason she took her frustration out on me and was rough handling, rushing the process, and making it very uncomfortable for me. This is my last time coming back and I am giving it a one star ⭐️

Negative experience: I see from a few post, what happened to me is not rare. Short version..It would have been kind and empathetic if the Endodontist who had me waiting for 2 hours (includes wait time in lobby) would have made time to apologize for the wait.I understand things happen which is why I held on that long before asking to reschedule the appointment. The reschedule was a test to see if I was being unreasonable. The reschedule was canceled as I heard cricket from this Endodontist. I'll take my service where I'm appreciate. You can learn something from Chick-fil-A on customer service.

From the front desk to the billing staff and the clinical team, I am glad I found them. I had a very bad dental experience in the past and was truly terrified. This team was patient, believed what I said & walked me through my procedure. Dr. Lee is awesome and her assistants are down to earth all while remaining professional.

Fantastic experience: It was for extensive teeth cleaning to alleviate pockets in gums. My hygienist was efficient, caring, and explained each step. She also sent home products to work on the health of my mouth. It was a good experience.

Negative experience: I scheduled an appointment with an endodontist that only works on Wednesdays. I arranged a day off from my work and drove 1 hour to the location. I arrived at 10:15 for a 10:30 AM appointment. I waited approximately 15 minutes in the waiting area before I was called back. I was placed in a chair and there I sat for one and a 1/2 hours without any apologies of the delay or any communication of how much longer it would take. I lost my patience and I left after saying something to a few of the technicians in the back. I will never, ever go back to that location.Waiting an hour and a half and especially without any communication is not feasible. Bottom line that experience cost me time money and gas. That is no way to run a business.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. All staff was friendly, professional, efficient.

Negative experience: Room # 4 on endo side was dirty. The floors have not been cleaned as well as the xray arm. Root canal procedure should be done in a sterile environment which is hard to do in a filthy room. The reclining chair is dirty as well. I did share my Observations to the dental assistant, Dr. Wood and to the young lady who takes care of the payments. If my tooth was not hurting as bad, I would have walked out. Angelo M.

Negative experience: I chose Great expressions for ortho because I wanted the best experience for what I was paying for. Parking is too expensive, front desk staff as well as the dental assistants are so unpleasant & unprofessional every time I go. They look and act young and ghetto. The actual ortho dentist is very nice, pleasant & informative but he is the only one. The other staff give me anxiety. I'm happy with my teeth but the energy of a place is also very important to me. I would not recommend Great expressions to anyone.

Negative experience: The dental care itself that I received was fine, but I felt pushed into expensive treatments that I didn’t think I needed. I was told that my treatment plan would not be modified—it was the expensive treatments or nothing. I’ll probably seek future care elsewhere.

Positive experience: The Decatur location is doing much better lately. Leanise Forde is the best hygienist, she’s super helpful and cheerful. Dr. Tran is a good dentist, but it seems he is over worked with too many patients.

My tooth has been cracked for years and became infected my pain level was at a 100!!! However, I knew I could no longer delay the procedure. Dr. Woods explained each step and was extremely gentle. Positive experience: 2+ hours late. Took my payment before I was treated. Dr. Woods was nice, explained my treatment well. Person who checked me in was nice. Everyone else acted like they weren't happy to be there...just a job. Since the first visit I've been back several times. I was seen fairly promptly, and everyone was attentive and professional. Maybe the previous review was based on an "off" day. At any rate, I've recommended both the Ponce and Eagle's Landing locations to several friends/family.

Negative experience: The employees were nice But the COST IS OUTRAGEOUS 2 Teeth extractions,temp flipper and 2 implants $ 14,500 !!!!!!! FOURTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Negative experience: The actual dentist them self are great….the office manager is a ball head….i had a consult with a dr about my wisdom tooth and was told they would try and get it covered by insurance which is fine if not ill pay the balance….i go in for my appointment for my filling and was told I have to pay for both when I never received my bill for my wisdom tooth appointment nor was I called to let me no the bill was place in my account…I can ask I just pay either or then get billed on the back in…and since she was on a call if it ran 15 min over my appointment I would have to reschedule anyway to speak to her…do not go here find a cheaper better dentist

Fantastic experience: Great Expressions is the best dental practice I have ever been to in my life!!! The staff is so pleasant and you never wait even 10 minutes for them to see you. Dr. Tran and his assistant Lynn are the best! They make sure that you are comfortable and you never feel a thing during any procedure. There is no pain or discomfort. If you feel anything at all, they stop and give you more of what you might need to alleviate the pain. I love them and don’t mind going to the dentist at all. I actually look forward to it! Dr. Woods does the root canal’s which I’ve always been terrified of. No longer!!! I love Dr. Woods! He’s funny and the procedure is fast and totally painless. I look forward to my next root canal!! This staff is the BEST!!! If you need a dentist, this is definitely the one to go to.

Negative experience: This place is a money pit. I get my teeth cleaned very regularly, usually every six months. I decided to change dentists after my other dentist sold her practice. I made an appointment here online. I knew one of my teeth was sore, so I was expecting maybe a cavity. I arrived at 8:30 for my appointment. They saw me around 9. They took X-rays and the dentist told me I had a cracked tooth and needed a crown. Ok. That makes sense. They charged me $200 after insurance to get the crown going. Then the hygienist came in. I figured I would get my cleaning and be on my way. After wasting my time for 30 minutes, she told me they don’t do cleanings unless you make an appointment to see a hygienist. She wasn’t going to be able to clean my teeth, but she COULD set me up for a return visit for an extensive cleaning that would be another $250. I told her I just wanted to get my teeth cleaned. She said that wasn’t possible. I left and got a refund on the crown. I have NEVER in 50 years made an appointment with a dentist and not gotten my teeth cleaned as part of the appointment. They wasted an hour and a half of my day and now I still have to find another dentist! I got a refund for the crown because there is no way I wanted to start a relationship with a business this sketchy and money grubbing. Don’t make an appointment here unless you want to be drained of funds without actually getting any services.

Negative experience: This place is such a scam full of 'professionals' that rush appointments and don't do a throughout cleanings. They only clean certain areas and leave other parts of your teeth covered with plaque. They take every excuse to charge as much money out of you as possible including scheduling your appointments on days your regular dentist isn't working and not telling you until after your cleaning, so you have to pay extra to come back in another day. Also they have a sketchy tactic of telling you you have gingivitis and have to pay out of pocket for a deeper cleaning. Going to another dentist and getting a second opinion is all you'll need to find out that this is just a method of getting extra money out of their customers. I've had many friends and family drop them over the years for the same reasons. Spend a little extra and go to a quality dentist that actually cleans your teeth instead.

Negative experience: This location on Ponce De Leon has the ability to present a pleasant experience. Still, it fails not only with the individuals working at the front desk/ receptionist area (attitudes and unresponsiveness) but also with those "in the background,” such as Ashley Williams and Precious Thompson (attitude, unresponsiveness, and unprofessionalism). I have personally received verbal threats from Ashley Williams to send my balance of over $1400 to collections while I was actively and consistently attempting to rectify the newfound balance issue (that was due to an error on their end). This balance was added out of nowhere over two years after the beginning of a treatment plan that had concluded over a year before. I received several “stories” of where the balance came from since I hadn’t visited this Great Expressions location in over a year. Ultimately, Ashley Williams decided on the story that my insurance did not pay their portion of my treatment plan. I was never notified during my treatment plan (when I was actively coming into this GE office) that they had any issue with my insurance (now saying even that I did not have insurance at that time, which was completely false). However, I still wanted to resolve the issue. I contacted my insurance company and received confirmation that I had insurance at that time–further, they said they had no problem issuing checks to GE to correct the balance. My insurance company gave the provider number so GE could contact them and resolve this. I have several email threads relaying this information and requesting updates. I also have proof of phone conversations and unanswered calls to GE to inquire about this being resolved. After seven months and a lack of communication, I paid the balance out of pocket. Still, there were issues after that because the balance amount was “incorrect.” It’s very unfortunate because I adore the doctors at this location and have no complaints about the dental assistants. Still, several of the receptionists, Ashley Williams, Precious Thompson, as well as GE’s recordkeeping, responsiveness, and professionalism severely lack. This situation has many more details, but I will leave it at this. I hope they improve professionally and that this will help potential patients in the future.

Negative experience: Fyi- they will not give you a voucher for the parking (about $20.) After coming here for a couple of times and always told I had great healthy teeth- I was scheduled for an evaluation instead of a cleaning once. The hygienist out of nowhere said I had gingivitis and needed a deeper cleaning (not covered by insurance, about $170). Went and got a second opinion and was informed that chain dentists are starting to use that tactic to get more money. This place is sketchy. They didn’t offer any alternatives. No longer a customer here needless to say

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lee and Tonya were amazing. Tonya was very gentle, while taking a full Xray and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Dr. Lee listened carefully and was able to develop a plan of attack to allow me to go back to work ASAP. I love these 2 professionals and will definitely be making my future appointments soon to get something more permanent. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: The staff seems to be making an extra effort to help patients. The billing staff answered all my questions and did additional follow up with a smile. Despite being very busy, they did everything with a smile. My hygienist is amazing! She is attentive and answers all my questions and even paid extra attention to teeth when asked. She is friendly and efficient. THE BEST. What a great work environment. A real happy place.

Positive experience: The only reason I gave 3 stars is because I didn't have any problems with my wisdom teeth extraction. That being said, my family and I will be looking for a different dental provider. I felt that the customer service was terrible except for one lady spoke too, I wish I had remembered her name. I felt like they only cared about making money off me. The dental surgeon didn't seem to care to take the time to offer her professional advice on my dental situation. It felt as if she was saying 'okay you're here, are you ready to get this done or not.' Zero bedside manner. The assistant was the same way. After my extraction, they didn't even offer the option of keeping my extracted wisdom teeth. No big deal, but I would have like to have that option. While still under the effects of the anesthesia, I was placed in a wheelchair and brought outside the building in the cold while my wife came around with the car. One of the assistants did stay with me however why not wait at the entrance of the building inside out of the cold. I was given very vague post-op instructions. I called a couple of weeks later to ask a question and I waited on hold for 20 min. I had to call back to speak to someone. I was told that someone would return my call by the end of the day. Two days later, I still haven't received a call. I will have to call again to get my questions answered. I get the feeling that this company and just want to perform as many procedures as possible, make as much money as possible, and cares very little about customer service. What I do know is WE WILL BE TAKING OUR DOLLARS SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Negative experience: This was the worst experience I have experienced in a long time. It was a true waste of my time. The professionalism received was unbelievable. To be told one thing and 5 minutes later I was told something different and to be rude while speaking to me made matters worst. Dr. Ashe do better and don’t send patients away after telling them you will perform the procedure and send an unprofessional person into the room to deliver the message but to reschedule for another day.

Negative experience: I would give them 0 stars if it were an option. Worst dentist’s office I have ever been. If you give them a recent full set of X-Rays they will first tell you they their doctor to make sure they are compliant … Once they realize they are compliant … they will tell you they need a panoramic X-Ray … for a routine cleaning :) I am fairly confident that, had I stayed there, I would have been taken in for a full-body CT scan :D Thankfully I left. But only after a very frustrating waste of my time, and after a very blunt, but failed, attempt from them to milk my insurance while bombing me with unnecessary radiation that no dentist has ever requested for a routine cleaning, especially within a few months from a previous X-Ray). And, of far less importance but should probably tell you something about this practice: they do not even validate for parking on the garage of their medical building.
