Negative experience: Dr.Gao is the worst dentist I’ve ever seen in my life, being on both private insurance and Medicaid I have seen my fair share of dentists. Her bedside manner is horrible, she scolded me, actually slugged me in the arm and told me my teeth were ruined and I need dentures soon. I came in because I have an infection and I just want the tooth pulled ASAP, which she did not, sent in an antibiotic and when I asked for advice on pain management she said “what you mean? It’s an infection that’s developed for years. You gotta take the antibiotics”.. like okay lady thanks a bunch. I don’t believe she actually physically touched my mouth once, just looked at the X-rays and sent me on my way with my Rx. I wish I would’ve went elsewhere instead of wasting time here. 1 star for the receptionist and dental assistant that were a bit friendlier.

Positive experience: Staff was really nice when I entered. The dentist himself I felt like rush me out he couldn’t take out the tooth I wanted that day so I just wanted a cleaning done and he honestly did not even do anything n said I was good to go

Fantastic experience: Went to have all my teeth pulled. Dr. Gao and the fantastic dude assisting her were super friendly and efficient, talked me through the whole process which really helped calm the nerves!

Negative experience: Worst dental experience of my daughter's life. She's on Medicaid, and Dr ? Petel took full advantage of her situation. Knowing full well he could do shoddy work and no lawyer could take the case because it was all paid for by Medicaid. He ground down her front teeth, there was nothing wrong with them, and replaced them with inferior dental implants, resulting in infection and thousands of dollars to redo his inferior work. She only wanted work on her back teeth. During her last visit he said he would not work on her back teeth and to not come back.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Patel is amazing!!! I see him and so does my son. He is gentle, fast, and experienced. I also love how they have a play area for kids.

Negative experience: Terrible experience! Brought my granddaughter there and was very disappointed. Staff is not friendly, they barely greet you. It’s run like an assembly line. It’s very impersonal and not a calm place at all. The worst dental office I have ever been to. There’s not much for privacy either the way the office is set up. All the exam rooms are open one after the other, like an assembly line. Poor child in the next space screaming at the top of her lungs and pain at whatever they were doing to her I was afraid to look around the corner. And it took two people to do her cleaning that spent the entire time chitchatting- so they did a terrible job. They never explained anything they were doing to her while doing her cleaning. It was over in less than two minutes. They did tell her they added sealant, but that was about it. They never even rinsed her mouth out or allowed her to spit in anything to get rid of the gunk from the cleaning. She didn’t even get a toothbrush and toothpaste after the cleaning which most Dentist give out. The office is extremely cold. Almost felt like you were in some factory with no privacy for anything, nothing was relaxing about the visit. I guess because you service mostly public aid patients you just treat them like crap which is unacceptable. I’m assuming the only thing your office cares about is collecting that money from Insurance. I wish I would’ve thought about pulling my phone out and taking photos of this place!

Fantastic experience: Dr Patel is the absolute best.! He has so much patience and understanding for children. We love having him for our dental needs.!!

Negative experience: Have not ever been here to get my teeth cleaned. But after reading all the reviews. Definitely not showing up for my appointment tomorrow. This place sounds scary and will not take any chances letting them touch my mouth.

Positive experience: Dental Dreams Machesney Park, is a nice option as they accept my insurance & the office communication is accessible. The staff are attentive. The dentist assistant Brandon, is excellent & helpful. The dentist, Dr. Gao, is always rushed, & often misses important things. It is difficult communicating with her because she is always rushed and doesn't always take the time to listen to patients. Her procedures are sometimes inaccurate largely in part because she is always in a hurry, which makes patients feel they are unappreciated & nervous. It would make a tremendous, & positive difference if she would listen and take her time with each patient.

Positive experience: The Asian dentist is rude and rushed you in and out. They’re waiting until don’t take things seriously and they filled 3 of my teeth together and I can’t floss because of it.

Fantastic experience: He pulled 2 teeth my dentist couldn't pull, and fitted me with an upper and a lower partial. I still owe 75 dollars my Humana Insurance didn't pay. Overall, I'm happy.

Negative experience: This female dentist left 2 roots and a half of tooth in my mouth packed it all in with guaze and sent me on my way, and her assistant seen it ALL and didnt say or do anything about it. leaving me in pain and causing masive infection. I am already seeking an attorney , they WILL stop treating us public aid patients so badly !!!

Negative experience: I had made an appointment cuz my two front teeth were in pain. I had scheduled a root canal about a year ago but caught pneumonia so couldn't do it and then my insurance got cut. I possibly didn't call them to cancel. So now a year later my tooth is giving me trouble again I now have insurance and I'm able to pay came in and Dr Wei Gao denied to do my work cause I had missed appointment a yr ago. Seem very rude about it told me You didn't come last time so I'm not doing it I don't give second chances is what she told me. Gave me referral to go somewhere else. So don't let anything happen to you or you miss her appointment otherwise she won't see you.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Patel and his team are fantastic. They never rush with the procedure. They take time to explain everything. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a dentist who cares about patient’s comfort and understanding.

Negative experience: Im very disappointed. My dentist never looked in my mouth to see where I told her the pain come and goes. Said there's nothing there go to oral surgeon for root canel.and show my xray something growing growing in back upper tooth. Told go to oral surgeon. I was given a dentist in chicago. Told me take piture with my phone. To show them. First idint want to go to Chicago. Second di you think my insurance will pay with just pick on NY phone. Very up set

Fantastic experience: I am so impressed with DD, the compassion and professionalism are amazing. They are quick with making appt's and seeing the dental assistants and dentist goes smoothly. I appreciate the wonderful service and wouldn't go any place else for my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care for young adults and older adults. Dr. Patel takes his time and is very patient. Today I was a new patient with Dr. Gau and she is a very good dentist as is Dr. Patel. Excellent communication and kind. Dental work can be very scary.

Negative experience: Had an appointment, had to refill out paperwork as a new patient. Had to fill out online and send insurance information to a email. Showed up early and still Waited for 45 minutes past appointment time. Dentist never said anything about cavities but suggested a sealant, when I declined, hygienist for upset and talked about a cavity child had, but said sealant wouldn’t treat the cavity. Yelled out to dentist “did you hear what she just said” dentist agreed and then she quickly rushed us out of the office. Dentist just mentioned cleaning and sealant. Cleaning was rushed and appointment time was for X-rays and cleaning etc. was gone in 15 min. I guess I’ll have to pay out of pocket to see another dentist to get a proper exam and cleaning.

Fantastic experience: She knows what to do, what is best for my dental plan, and has worked at this location For years. She knows what's best for me. I've seen and heard her with the children that come through, and is amazing with them. Back for more, in our in prompt amount of time. Always there. Thanks.

Negative experience: I will never come back to this place! They are not welcoming at all. They don’t greet you at all. They make you sign the papers and say you can sit down. The lady that cleaned my teeth first barely cleaned them. She was done in 2 minutes. She didn’t explain any of what she was doing. She took x-rays. There was another lady that came in and she was very rude. She yelled out that I had cavities (the reason I was there and to get my teeth cleaned) and was grabbing my face and getting water all over me. When i told her she just said water is good for cleaning your teeth.. She was scraping my teeth so hard and hurting my gums. She was rushing and just told me to book another appointment for a fill.. They were not nice at all. The wait time was the only good thing about it.

Fantastic experience: I needed several teeth extractions so I tried relentlessly to get an appointment for months here in the local area but to no avail. Appointments schedules were months out I'm talking sometime in Nov. I couldn't live with that I was about to give up in frustration.Then I heard about Dental Dreams I couldn't believe it, in as little as 3 days they took me in put me at ease with little to no pain. They made my day. When finished I'm going to have a big beautiful smile Thank You Dental Dreams Dr Wei MD.

Negative experience: They were able to get my adult son in fairly soon for a cleaning when I called. However the cleaning wasn't very thorough. He was in the chair and out within 15 min. They did a once around his gumline & did not floss his teeth. They even took xrays in that amount of time.

Fantastic experience: I got in within 2 days could have been 1 had i been able to get off work but they were great i had a tooth half gone with an abcess and they pulled it for me no problem and gave me an antibiotic i even got to keep the tooth they pulled! The lady who pulled my tooth was extremely kind and seemed genuinely concerned for my health making me promise to fill my antibiotic and start taking it today! I will definitely be making more appointments to finish fixing my teeth now they are amazing and this is coming from someone who has had bad experiences with dentists

Negative experience: I had a deep cleaning done here. I didn’t have any cavities. I did have a cracked tooth. They glued my tooth together. After the deep cleaning I then had 8 little divots in my teeth from them holding the Scaler in the same place for to long. Is this how they create business by damaging perfectly good teeth?

Fantastic experience: Dr. Patel is absolutely amazing. I had an appointment at 3:30 after exhausting all other options. I had been in incredible pain for about a week, and needed a tooth extracted. A family member suggested to come here, and I'm so glad I did. I absolutely hate the dentist in general, but Dr. Patel was understanding and patient. I would have had such a bad anxiety attack anywhere else, but he calmed me down so well. The whole extraction took literally less than a minute, and I didn't feel anything. I would 100% recommend coming here.

Negative experience: I had an appointment for a filling at 1pm. My sister was numbed by 1:50 but then waited 40 minutes with no updates. When I politely asked the receptionist, Michelle , how much longer it would be, she rolled her eyes and replied curtly, “I don't know what to tell you”. This lack of communication and rude attitude made me very uncomfortable.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Patel is Fantastic .!!!! I had to get a Tooth pulled today. He made sure that I had enough novacaine and I didn't feel anything!!!! He is the Best Dentist that I have Ever Had. Dr. Patel listened to my concerns regarding pain. I Highly Recommend that you go and see Him.!!!!

Positive experience: I can’t give it 5 stars due to the attitude of the first receptionist I spoke to. Not only did my children have back to back appointments, but they had a very extensive packet of paperwork - or online version on your phone that took a while for 2 patients! It had been done at their first visit so I wasn’t sure why I was doing it again and it’s because everyone has to do it in case anything changed. Well, most organized places have the paperwork from last time with highlighted areas to check if anything changed. The appts were back to back, but when it got to be 15 mins after the appt time I went to question said first receptionist who just looked at me like I had 10 heads….. so I finally asked the other receptionist at 20 mins after - so then they called back my 9 & 10 year old and instead of keeping them in the same room with me, they split them up so I had to leave a child alone. It made me very uncomfortable but the hygienist just gave me attitude like it was no big deal. So then I was going between rooms (not even side by side!!) and finally after their cleanings, they came to the same room for the dentist to check …. Which thankfully he was nice and answered all the questions we had…. I just didn’t like the attitude of the staff - almost like we were bothering their day! I decided to give them a second chance to see if it was an “off day” but we won’t be going back.

Negative experience: They made my friend wait over half an hour past her scheduleled appointment time. Then when I came in and said something to my friend about the wait loud enough for them to hear me, they got her back right away. It shouldn't have to be like this. If you schedule an appointment stick too it. Very unprofessional practices, my dentist don't do this to me. Stop treating people with Medicaid like they don't have a life. Will be reporting to the state also

Fantastic experience: By far the BEST dentist ive ever been to!! When i tell you i was always scared of the dentist so avoided at all cost, NOT HERE! So nice, gentle and just all around Amazing!! Regularly go now.

Negative experience: My review of this place was originally glowing, not so much anymore. First of all, let me make it clear that the doctors and techs are outstanding and do great work. My gripe is not with them Insurance and claims. I had a service done in JANUARY. Tooth infection: I had rads taken and antibiotics prescribed. My insurance was for whatever reason not active so I had to pay for my services out of pocket that day. Roughly $115 worth. Two weeks later I came back for my root canal and asked them to run my insurance again for the rads and antibiotics since i'd gotten it figured out, they said they would. I had to pay 1,000 out of pocket that day for my root canal since my coverage was no longer active, but it was for the rads, which I told them. You may be saying it is may when you're writing this review, but that took place in january? That's my point. I asked them to run my insurance again in January. They didn't bother. I manually filed a claim in March and sent them the paperwork via fax, got a confirmation that they received it, then got a letter in the mail from insurance this month stating they NEVER HEARD BACK FROM DENTAL DREAMS. Wow! Thats five whole months! They already got paid for the service, I know that because I PAID OUT OF POCKET. The absolute, very least they could have done was SENT THE PAPERWORK TO INSURANCE. Did they bother? no. no they didn't. So here I am today. Why now? Well I decided I would just go in and ask them to print out the record of the service so I could just send it in myself. You would THINK that would resolve the issue, but no. Only one person in that office can print that information and said person was not there at 1pm on a Tuesday, the middle of the work week. Its $115 worth of services I am trying to get reimbursed, so why the hell has it taken five months when THEY have already been paid?

Fantastic experience: Always professional, kindness to all the patients, always take time extracting my teeth and cleaning them also,great service every time

Negative experience: Pretty horrible. I have always had a good experience with Dr Gao. However, I had heart surgery a year ago and she cleared me for heart surgery with dental work. A filling on my wisdom tooth fell out. She told me it was to hard of a tooth to fill I guess, and she could extract it. I need clearance for warfarin and antibiotics. She gave me a form to fill out. So I took it and left, quite annoyed. I feel if it needed extraction, we should have done that before surgery. Now I have to prepare for dental work. I got home and my cardiologist told me to have them fax it directly to him. I called back to Dental Dreams to ask them to please send the form if they could. I was told I left without stopping at the desk to get the paper scanned, so I'll need to take it to my cardiologist myself. Just taking it to him is not a easy task. Now I am here with huge hole in the side of my tooth, while it's not constantly painful, it's extremely sensitive and deep. She told me a antibiotic would be called in, it was not.( I'm not 100% sure i can take them but it's better than an infection in my tooth that is dangerous for me with a mechanical heart valve.) I'm checking for different dentists in the area. She should be ashamed of herself and her staff. She acted amazing and caring before my surgery when she did the work to clear me for surgery. I thought since it was her filling that failed, and if she knew it would fail, why wait till now to remove it. Or at least make it right. But not faxing the paperwork is just disgusting. I hope she and her staff have the day they deserve

Negative experience: If I could put 0 stars I would. I scheduled an appointment for my son today due to his tooth breaking in half, when I called, they said I was not allowed to schedule 2 different appointments and that it would all need to be done today which included tooth extraction, X-rays, cleaning, and fillings of remaining teeth. When I got there we waited 45 minutes past appointment time before being called back and was in the back for tooth cleaning and a xray of 1 tooth for an additional 40 minutes before doctor came and saw us. When doctor came in he stated my sons gum where broken tooth was was very swollen and is infected and he won’t see him back for 2 weeks, when I asked why I was told this is how long he needed to be on meds for. When I walked to the front, I was told it should only be one week. Then because of the conflicting information, I asked if I can switch doctors because this is not the first time this doctor has done this to my family, the office manager told me I wasn’t allowed. I said I wasn’t satisfied with the service provided and was then told I’m not being forced to go there and can go somewhere else. I asked if I can just see another provider within the facility and was told I would receive a call by end of today to let me know. The doctors assistant brought paperwork up front which was a referral for fillings. Which my son had fillings done there before and they were confused as to why I was given the referral and the office manager told the receptionist not to give me the paperwork and told me to wait for her call. I never once received the call. I went and saw a new dentist and they stated my sons tooth was NOT infected at all and didn’t understand why I was told that. And they took X-rays of his whole mouth and was also able to extract the tooth. I am not happy with the care and tired of this doctor always stating he doesn’t have time for the appointment or always trying to pass the buck. He also never states who he is, doesn’t acknowledge the patient and comes in the room and just simply states to open your mouth. I don’t think it is right to force someone to stay with a doctor if they are not satisfied with care they are receiving.

Negative experience: Both the dentist and the dental assistants were great as far as the back. They did super well with both of my toddlers and were super patient with them. I believe they had 4 receptions in the front who had horrible attitudes and not customer friendly. I called about 5 times with no answer due to me being a little late. I heard phone ringing and no one would answer them just talking and on their phones.

Fantastic experience: We love Dr Patel and travel from Brodhead WI to come to him !! He is always so kind and friendly and is great with the kids !

Fantastic experience: The dentist is a great guy. Takes his time on what is needed done. The place is clean and the workers are friendly and helpful. My teenager children do not even mind going every 6 months. All around a great experience when going somewhere that you might feel scared to go to.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I have to put a 1 star rating, If I had the option it would be a ZERO star rating! From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left this place was horrible! Walked in and was greeted with a snotty attitude by the girls at the front desk. The entire time I sat there they loudly discussed about another person’s attitude towards them, and went on & on about their Starbucks coffee orders. (Something that isn’t bad to discuss but should be discussed in a way that isn’t so obnoxious. Very unprofessional manner from all of the front end staff. Needless to say Dr. Patel was no better. This was my first time coming to this place with my daughter and will be my last. Dr. Patel made me feel as though he was in a rush and my daughter didn’t matter. He gave her two options for a decade tooth. The first was to do a root canal and the second was to have it extracted. Prior to this another dental office had told us it could be filled. The reason we came here was because the other dental office didn’t take our insurance. He doesn’t even look at you when he is talking. He had his back turned to me as he was talking. After the appointment was over we went to the front to check out and the girls at the front were all on their cell phones, not paying attention. The one girl real snotty tells me she can help you over there. So I just asked if my daughter had to wait to eat after getting sealants on her teeth and she said “ I’m I don’t know “ so she looked at the other girl that directed me over to her and she “no” (again kinda snobby). So as I was about to leave she asked if I wanted to make another appointment and when I said no the other girl muttered something under her breath. Oh and it gets better! So after leaving, I realized I had forgotten to ask for a doctor’s note since I had taken my daughter out of school early. So I decided to call to see if I could have them email or fax one to the school so I didn’t have to go back since I was already on my way home however I called repeatedly and kept getting an answering machine saying that they would be with me in a moment that moment never happened 25 minutes later and I ended up going back to the office in person. (Keep in mind they closed at five. I first started calling at 4:30). I walked in only to see two girls on their personal cell phones. I had asked her for the doctors excuse in which she proceeded to fill out not only did she wet the paper with a coffee cup, but then being unprofessional, she giggled and said.” oh sorry the stamp is upside down but it’s OK.” so because I was curious about the phone not being answered. I asked her are your phones broken and she said no not that I’m aware of but they’ve been doing that all day. Needless to say I never said what was wrong with the phone I just asked if they were broken, bottom line they obviously think people are stupid. They obviously switched their phone line to the answering machine because they were closing soon. Bottom line, WE WILL NOT BE BACK!

Negative experience: Exam chair needs to be reupholstered there are holes and cracks with fuzz coming out of them. I would have appreciated the techs not slam the cupboards behind my head, multiple times during my visit as I was already anxious and uncomfortable . Put some felt on the doors of the cupbords please if you cannot teach your staff on patient comfort I believe my tech meant well but needs improvement with patient communication. Lastly please make sure the safety glasses you have patients use get cleaned and scrubbed between patients they were disgusting and I could not communicate that at the moment you put them on my face, after starting and it was futile to tell my tech after my procedure.

Negative experience: Absolutely the worst experience ever. Doctor was forceful and didn't stop when I asked because he was hurting me. Definitely wouldn't recommend!

Fantastic experience: They were very nice to me and my fiancée and work well with you in every way possible it was the greatest part of my life my other dentist was 100% rude dirty place this place was very clean.

Negative experience: I recently visited Dental Dreams and unfortunately, my experience was below expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt rushed through the entire process. The staff seemed more focused on moving patients through quickly rather than ensuring a comfortable and thorough visit. The dentist barely took the time to explain what was being done, and there was no discussion about a treatment plan or next steps. I left the office feeling uncertain about my dental health and what, if anything, needed to be addressed in the future. A good dental visit should include clear communication and a sense of care for the patient’s concerns, but I didn’t get that here. I hope they can improve on taking the time to engage with patients rather than making the experience feel like an assembly line.

Fantastic experience: I was there to get an exam so I could schedule an appointment to come back to get my impression for my upper denture plate. The dentist knew exactly why I was there, so we got a jump on things and did my impression that day.

Fantastic experience: I have coming to Dental Dreams since 2011 and I have No bad words for them. They are are the kindest staff ever. Where can you go and have your Dentist listen to your concerns!!!!! I have had root canal without any pain, in fact I was able to go back to work:) :) :) :), Dr GAO is so outstanding that I am willing to drive hours to see her only....... My denture fit perfectly for my mouth and I able to eat everything without any problems. I think of everyone here, at the Mahesney Park office as Family.......

Negative experience: I went in today as an emergency walk in for one of my tooth that has a crown on it for awhile now. It’s been causing a lot of pain where Tylenol ibuprofen Aleve and other over counter pain medicine wasn’t taking the pain away to the point I’m crying. I have mention this to the doctor as well. They got me in quickly and they did X-ray and said my tooth is infected and before anything can be done with it my infection has to be gone. Understanding so they prescribed me antibiotics and I asked them what about this pain because anything I have taken over the counter has never worked will I was told the antibiotics has pain med mix with it that will work. Of course they gave me antibiotics and 600 mg ibuprofen while I’m crying in pain they didn’t listen not listen to me one bit about the medicine I have taken at the house for this pain that hasn’t even help a little and they won’t prescribe me anything else either. I’ve never once asked them for any pain meds for all times I have been there. Not even when they pulled my wisdom teeth’s. They gave me Ibuprofen for that and I never called them about needing something diffrent. But yet there worried about me abusing any other medication is bullshit. They don’t listen to the you at all. Even when your infornt of them crying from this pain

Positive experience: The care was quick. Not sure how thorough it was. But, the dentist and hygienist were pleasant. Another employee however was walking back and forth arguing with another one. She was loud and didn't care how unprofessional this was. It was a personal matter between them. She was being loud and talking rude to the other...and didn't care that we were sitting a few feet away.

Negative experience: Worst place ever. Omg i cant believe how incompetant they were. Dentist didnt care at all. Was so rude. Insurance authorization wasnt even sent to my insurance. I called 4 times in total. Was told first 3 times they haddent heard back from my insurance. So i called my insurance only to find out the authorization was never even sent. So i called them back for the 4th time. This young lady told me what the first 3 hadnt, the same thing that my insurance had. It was never sent. So im going someplace else.

The young lady that checked me in today was very un enthusiastic, quite drab, constantly making mistakes or speaking, incorrect information with me. She really appeared very enthusiastic as if she couldn’t care to be there and A reflect a very negative ghetto behavior that is on warranted for a dentistry. Considering often people don’t want to come to the dentist for one reason or another on top of fearing what they may have to encounter physically and or financially, she really has more drama, Which is totally unnecessary. Negative experience: They barely did a cleaning, did not floss my teeth. Did not check then to my liking. It took like 10 minutes. I’ve been to other places a cleaning at least takes 30 minutes. I told them my concerns and they barely listened

I have been back and was treated equally as kind as the first visit, and helped just as well as the first visit! They are amazing at THIS LOCATION ONLY!!

Negative experience: Every time we come to this location they have clerical issues. From a business perspective it does not portray a well managed business. Today, came in with our youngest team member for a routine visit, appointment was scheduled for 9am. We arrived at 850am and checked in as told by signing in on the clipboard. Sat for 20 min. Saw others going in before us, so inquired at desk. Receptionist said she forgot to check her in. Waited another 15 min, at 925 asked again and was told they were waiting to get in touch to verify insurance. Sat and waited another 20 min before getting called back. 45 min late for an appointment. Now our youngest team member is still in school, so more school time is now getting missed for no good reason. The professional hygienists and dentists are great and knowledgeable however the business side is very frustrating. If not for the amazing work, we would find a new place to go.

Fantastic experience: After a small misunderstanding with insurance that was very professionally handled, we enjoyed the visit! The insurance card wasn’t showing up so the receptionist took the time to talk our insurance representative. When the hygienist took X-rays and cleaned, she was very thorough and explained every step. The dentist, Dr Patel was amazing as well. He explained all the options and steps for the extractions needed.

Negative experience: If you're a patient here - GOOD LUCK ! I had my top teeth removed for Dentures in April 2024 and my top has been sore since . They told me on my return visit in late April that I just needed more time to heal and that my emergency dentures were fine - NOT NOT NOT ! I finally decided to seek out another Dentist and got my answers - some of my tooth roots are still there causing my pain AND the Dentures don't fit so I'm getting new ones !! I thought the Dentist I saw was pretty rude and the office staff not very knowledgeable or professional . They might all do better working at Big Lots - oh wait they are closing - Like Dental Dreams should be doing . Big Lots is much better though ! I will discourage people from going there !
