Fantastic experience: Grateful to have finally found my go-to dental office! Dr. Wu and his team do such a great job, and most importantly, they don’t make me pay extra for unnecessary treatments (this was an issue with my last office).

Negative experience: Dishonest, Predatory, and Unethical I visited this clinic for a routine wisdom teeth extraction and left with a $17,200 quote filled with excessive and unnecessary procedures. I was told I needed sinus closures, bone grafts, and a platelet-rich plasma treatment, all based on supposed “infections” seen on my X-ray. No CBCT scan was done to confirm an infection, this was all derived from a 2D panoramic image. Multiple other oral surgeons later confirmed that these procedures were completely unjustified. No confirmed signs of infection, no need for bone removal or sinus surgery, and certainly no medical reason for expensive bone grafts and centrifuged blood platelet treatment. Furthermore, each procedure that was quoted was upcharged by at least 3x from what's listed at other providers. After checking reviews, it’s obvious this clinic regularly recommends inflated and medically questionable treatments to patients who don’t know better. It’s unethical, it’s predatory, and it’s shameful. If you’re considering treatment here, get a second opinion before you agree to anything. This place only cares about profits, not their patients. It’s a sales operation disguised as healthcare.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at this dental clinic. The front desk insisted repeatedly on taking X-rays, regardless of my actual needs or concerns. I arrived early in the afternoon and had already sent my insurance information in advance, but they claimed not to have received it. Even after I provided it again on-site, they took a long time to verify it. When I finally saw the dentist, I was told that the required treatment would take an hour—but since they were closing in 50 minutes, I’d have to come back another day. Overall, the service felt disorganized and unprofessional. I do not recommend this clinic.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient here since 2019. The staff are extremely friendly and appointments are almost always on time. They do a great job checking insurance and advising on treatment options. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: This dental office is looking to scam people for healthcare. I went here a few months ago and was told I had 4 cavities and I remarked I was surprised because I had no pain and the dentist quickly shot back it was not deep yet. I had some suspicion and the dentist doesn't even do the cleaning, a hygienist does most of the work. The dentist just looked at the X-rays and made these claims. Then they were offering only the most premium cavity fillings and care. Look them up on better business bureau and there is a pattern of up charges and premium services being pushed onto patients. I went to a different dentist after complaining to my insurance company and guess what this new dentist could not find any cavities. Anyway be careful and absolutely avoid healthcare companies that put profit over ethical proper care.

Fantastic experience: This place is ALL about dental work, 24/7/365. I feel very secure when I come for treatment. The ladies make sure I'm taken csre of and bring good energy that's usually a place where you mormally don't receive good news; it's the DENTIST. Have Stacey in the front desk sing you a song while you wait.

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to share my experience with Dr. Rita, she was absolutely fantastic during my oral surgery! I was so impressed with how kind and patient she was, never feeling pressured at all. It's awesome that she utilizes all the latest tech, which made recovery so much smoother. Seriously, if you're looking for an oral surgeon, I highly recommend her! Jasmine and Rubina were fabulous!

Fantastic experience: Expert Dental is AMAZING! I just switched offices and was nervous to go somewhere new, but everyone made me feel so welcome and comfortable! Saba was THE BEST dental hygienist I’ve ever had. She was kind and thorough and went above and beyond to make my experience positive. Thank you Expert Dental for being my new dental office!

Negative experience: As a new potential patient, I was greeted politely by the receptionist. But was told that my insurance couldn't be verified, even though I provided everything by phone a week prior and online. I then waited 20 minutes while they attempted to verify, only to be told that my insurance wasn't accepted. This is poor customer service. Insurance should be verified BEFORE a patient makes the effort to take time off work, find a babysitter, find parking, etc., only to be told they can't be seen. Unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ma is fantastic! I have severe anxiety and she made me feel so at ease. She and the tech, Rachel, were very thorough and walked me through everything they saw on the X-ray and my treatment. The whole staff are A+. This is my permanent dentist from here on out!

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient since they opened their first office, which must have been over 15 years ago. Dr. Shiao has been amazing from the start, though I rarely see her nowadays as she is in Tribeca mostly. However, the other dentists have been great as well, including Dr. Charm and Wu. It is a full service practice, from regular semi-annual cleanings to full orthodontics and dental implants. As big as they have become, it does not feel like a factory. The doctors always take their time to talk to patients and make sure they are comfortable with the treatment plan and answer all questions. Rubina has been there many years and knows the ins and outs of insurance and will explain any out of pocket costs clearly. Keep up the great work Dr. Shiao and the staff.

Positive experience: I came here for oral surgery a couple years ago and had seen Dr. Jared Miller who was incredible and made a great effort to make me feel heard and comfortable. I returned recently for a similar concern and Dr Miller was no longer there as he opened his own practice in Long Island City. My recent experience was frustrating and lack luster.

Negative experience: I did two root canals with one crown and an inlay about 5 years ago. Turns out I need to redo everything, both root canals and the inlay and crown.. I would skip the hassle by not going here.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lin and his dental assistants are the best dental professionals I've ever met. They are so real, so cool and so great at what they do! They always took the time to explain things to me every step of the way, they always tried to make sure the process was as painless as possible and they always cheered me up when I came! I'm going to miss seeing them all every month lol. This is a great place to get your braces! Take it from me, I tried 3 other orthodontists before I met Dr.Lin and they were all disappointing, overpriced and had the worst bed side manner.

Negative experience: This place is terrible. Very corporate trying to push high dollar treatments. They will tell you one thing on the phone then you come in for exam… then they push you into a room with “treatment coordinator” to push things you don’t need. The dentist is actually really good but the practice itself is terrible and just corporate trying to drain your wallet. (Again - great dentist that saw me. My problem is not with the clinical quality it is with the SERIOUS trying to RIP people off corporate vibe.) My treatment plan literally says 700 Zirconia upgrade… like are you serious WHAT is that… and pushing 3,000 Veneers when I explicitly told them on the phone I want a simple filling / bonding.. absurd up sell. Honestly quite insulting they think I would just roll over give them that. ABSOLUTLEY NOT. STRAIGHT PREDATORS. Would NOT recommend. Avoid this place. I don’t ever bother to write reviews.. but this time they pushed me the wrong way. Wasted 2 hours there for nothing. Don’t waste your time here unless you want to get herded into a room to discuss “TREAMENT options” and waste 2 hours accomplishing nothing. The best use of my time in this ordeal was writing this review.

Fantastic experience: Amazing, amazing experience. I saw Dr. Anna because I unfortunately needed a root canal. I was absolutely terrified! But Dr. Anna was sooooo patient and sweet and really calmed my nerves. I felt absolutely no pain during the entire process and she took the time to check in with me periodically throughout the procedure to make sure I was doing okay. The front desk staff was also super kind and helpful. Definitely recommend Dr. Anna and this practice :)

From the people in the front desk, to the assistants, and the doctor— they seemed passionate about what they do and very experienced. I learned a lot as I asked a lot of questions about dental health and orthodontics, and they were all very patient. Overall, a very pleasant experience!

Negative experience: Went for a cleaning and they recommended I see the orthodontist for Invisalign. Took me to a separate room and then charged me $290 for a 10 minute consultation. They didn’t tell me beforehand I’d be charged. I also didn’t ask to see the orthodontist, I only went because they told me to go. If they were going to charge me $290, they should have told me beforehand so I could say no, not just surprise me with a bill I didn’t ask for. Complete scam of a place. Do not trust them at all.

Fantastic experience: Cindy at the front desk is an absolute angel & completely saved my day & my tooth. Came down from the mountains for the day with an infected root canal &, unbeknownst to me, an improper referral. Could easily have been a total nightmare, a waste of time & traveling money, but Cindy was friendly & beyond professional in helping me figure out how to traverse the vagaries of our insurance policy in the office, set me up with a last minute dentist appointment so I could get a proper referral, & changed my appointment with the specialist so I wouldn’t have to come back. The dentists were also great. Eternally grateful for Cindy for helping me to make Expert Dental my primary dentist because I never want to anywhere else ever again.

Positive experience: Lily is fantastic hygienist - gentle and kind. The dentists and the oral surgeon are good too. Worth it just be prepared - the office manager is rude (doesn’t listen, cuts you off and is condescending) and they try to get you to do X-rays every 6 months which is unnecessary and not covered by my insurance. If you go in there with a positive attitude and ready to advocate for yourself, you’ll be fine lol.

Fantastic experience: Care was very fast and thorough. Doctor Lee spent time explaining everything thoroughly. After discovering I had to pay thousands of dollars for my teeth to be fixed, Michelle broke down the pricing for me in a way that made sense.

Negative experience: This place is an absolute scam like the others have said. I went in to have a wisdom tooth pulled and instead of doing what I came for, they tried to sell me everything but a bridge. They left me alone in a room for 30 minutes and some dentist or sales lady that wasn’t Dr. Park tried to bullshit me. They scheduled me for tomorrow to come in because all of a sudden their orthodontist wasn’t in. Not going. I’ll find another dentist. Stay far away from here. Don’t let the pretty office fool you.

Fantastic experience: I see Dr. Kwok at expert dental and she is simply the best. My teeth are very sensitive and I’ve experienced a lot of discomfort and anxiety with fillings at other dentists. I’ve never felt any pain at all with her. Checkups and fillings with Dr. Kwok are so pleasant and painless that I’m not even nervous coming in anymore. I can’t recommend enough!!!!!

Negative experience: I had a filling come out and wasn’t able to go to my usual dentist. They took x-rays and tried to schedule me to meet a specialist for further work which I declined since I would go to my usual dentist. I asked for a copy of the x-rays and they said they don’t give copies. When I asked if they could send them to my dentist, they said requests take 2-3 weeks. I’ve since found out this is a violation of hippa to not give me a copy of my own x-rays. Avoid this place After reading other people’s reviews I want to also share that I also was pressured into unnecessary procedures. I needed a simple filling and they wanted to give me a root canal which my personal dentist said was absolutely not needed. They also tried to tack on procedures not covered under insurance. My out of pocket cost after insurance was over $1500 had I gone with them. Thankfully I went to my normal dentist following this appointment.

Negative experience: Been here twice because my insurance switched. The first time, they had to redo my X-rays because they “messed up” and I got a total of at least 12 X-rays which I was really upset about (as I try to get them done only every few years). The second time, I didn’t feel like my teeth were properly cleaned (just a quick water pick), and then I had to wait in the chair for 45 minutes for the dentist to conduct the exam. She looked for less than 30 seconds, said I grind my teeth (I’ve never been told this in my life) and tried to get me to buy a $900 night guard from them (which of course I wouldn’t do without a second opinion). Only posting to help warn others - I think this place is known to scam and you should always get a second opinion!!

Positive experience: Everyone was so kind and gentle- a great place if you get nervous going to the dentist. The cleaning was thorough but did not include fluoride rinse (as I’m used to). The dentist also looks at your teeth before the cleaning - which helps ease nerves too. My only note was that I had to wait around 15 minutes for each portion of the appointment.

Negative experience: Incredibly predatory. In a matter of 15 appointments in three months, I maxed out my deductible, cleaned out my FSA and ended with pain I didn’t start with. I finally had the sense to get a second opinion and was told I was being completely ripped off and likely had unnecessary work done. Many of these dentists (though not all) do not care about their patients. It has been a traumatic and physically painful experience visiting this practice and I would not recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have been at Expert Dental for a little over a year seeing Dr. Jason Lin. To be mid age and decide to get braces/invisiline! I choose invisalign. Crazy right? but Dr. Lin made this transition so easy for me. He explained his plan for my teeth. No pain, shorter time period and honestly a very pleasant experinece overall. I trust Dr. Lin hands down with my teeth....... they are quite beautiful. THANK YOU

Fantastic experience: I came in for an extraction and also needed to find a new dentist since my last dentist office ripped me off. Dr Rita Mizrahi helped perform my extraction and I was super happy. She has a really chill friendly vibe which makes you comfortable around her and she is super friendly, humble and down to earth. Her hands are also from god because the whole procedure was really easy and I felt no pain. The staff at this office are all super friendly and always happy. The 2 important factors for me was not getting ripped off and good service and Dr Rita Mizrahi gave me that. Rubina was also great and super friendly and hospitable. Great send off! I found my new dentist office! I recommend everyone to go here.

Negative experience: They never billed my insurance for part of my wisdom teeth removal even though we agreed on what to bill which insurance for before the surgery and I called multiple times after. Here I am 6 months after the surgery come to find out it’s too late. Kind of a complicated situation, but I was lied to by the billing department and feel swindled out of $1000 by this practice that I thought I’d be able to claim from my MRA.

Negative experience: I strongly advise avoiding this business (not practice). Once they have your information and you go for your first visit, you may find yourself stuck in an endless billing cycle. I went in perfectly healthy, but since my visit, I’ve experienced numerous dental problems. The dentist/prosthodontist appeared inexperienced, forcefully cementing crowns that didn’t fit properly. For nearly six months, I’ve been in constant pain, repeatedly returning for adjustments that only seem to make matters worse. Despite this, they continue to bill my insurance for procedures that appear to have intentionally caused more damage. Even my insurance provider has struggled to get in touch with them. Meanwhile, I’m bombarded with emails, text messages, and voicemails. To make matters worse, they’ve recommended I see a specialist for surgery something I never needed before and I’ve recently been receiving messages about extractions. I walked into this business in excellent health, and now I’ve been suffering ever since. This experience has been deeply frustrating and concerning, and I cannot recommend this business to anyone. I should have chosen an out-of-network provider that is reliable and trustworthy. My insurance has informed me that I overpaid for the services, yet Expert Dental is still requesting payment. Update 4/6/2025: This office continues to harass me with yet another bill. I'm still dealing with pain caused by a mistake the dentist made, and the amount I'm being charged is outrageous and far more than what an out-of-network provider would have cost for far worse service. The insurance I pay biweekly premiums for has been absolutely useless in this situation. I strongly recommend staying far away from this office unless you're okay with poor service, ongoing pain, and surprise bills every couple of months for the foreseeable future.

Negative experience: Expert dental fully focuses on profit over patients in a way that is borderline predatory. As mentioned in other comments, after your cleaning/check up they will aggressively intimidate and upsell you on procedures that they insist are medically necessary and highly urgent (but on second opinion are not). One example is a root canal they told me I needed to get as soon as possible. They rushed me through options and basically told me I needed a root canal asap because my tooth (that didn’t bother me) looked iffy on the X-rays. They also told me I Needed the most expensive crown (because the other less expensive one that insurance covers would look “cheap” and fall out eventually etc.). They did not want to let me leave the office without scheduling and paying for the procedure in full, barely giving me a minute to even think about all of the info they’d given. I walked away and told them I needed to consider my options and asking if we could just monitor the tooth and assess at subsequent appointments. After deciding not to move forward, the sales woman became aggressive and got mad at me for not going through with a payment in that moment. From that point on, whenever I had a cleaning on the schedule, they would call me the day before and cancel the appointment, pushing it to the following month (they did this several times). Eventually I saw a new dentist who agreed the tooth didn’t even need a root canal and that we could monitor and assess in future appointments. They did a similar thing to my husband who they insisted needed his wisdom teeth out asap. And when he told them he would wait because they didn’t bother him, the salesperson got mad and the practice retaliated by last-minute cancelling his cleanings several times and rescheduling a month out at a time. Do not go here if you want a dentist who cares about you and your needs and doesn’t just want to drill/cut into your mouth at any chance they can make $$.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Expert Dental and they’ve been fantastic. Dr. Ma was thorough with my check-up, Rachel is a gentle and skilled hygienist, and Dr. Wong did an excellent job with my tooth extraction—healing was smooth. Dr. Rita placed the implant, and the whole process was painless and way easier than I expected. The team is friendly and professional—Sharon always takes the time to listen, and the clinic is well-run and efficient. I also appreciate that all the specialists are in one place, and the Midtown location is just 2 minutes from Grand Central. You can go over the payment plan in detail with the manager—they’re very transparent and happy to break down the cost of each step. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: DO NOT GO, complete scam. I am very young and was told I would need partial crowns costing $6,000 out of pocket after insurance (and I had great coverage). I thankfully saw two dentists at two different practices for a second opinion and they both agreed that only basic fillings would be required, ~$600 out of pocket total (90% less than what Expert Dental quoted me). This place is a scam. I am the last person to write a bad review and I sometimes ignore reviews like this when I research new facilities because you never know the true story, but I’m posting this to warn others and hopefully save them time and money from unnecessary dental work. Reflecting back on the most recent reviews here, I can see others have had similar experiences with extreme recommendations and poor work in their cleanings. It’s sad to see this in our community.

Negative experience: do not go here - this place is an actual scam. I had to change dentists because my insurance changed, and I have never had such a half-assed cleaning in my life. my teeth don’t feel clean. the hygienist was recommending some of the most insane things I’ve ever heard - after years of braces/orthodontia, she suggested having my permanent retainer removed and getting fitted for a retainer that I could sleep in (???) she also mentioned invisalign at one point, and my teeth are straight. I would guess that she’s new to the profession but bad look either way because they most certainly try to sell you things you simply do not need. I started reading reviews as I was waiting for my “treatment plan,” which involved a filling and a $900 night guard. I thought Tend was expensive when they quoted me $500. I’m generally not opposed to getting fillings on even small cavities, but I truly didn’t trust them to do it based on that experience. she also kept pressing me to schedule the filling. absolutely no shot. lol

Negative experience: I used to go to a different dentist at midtown location. When I get my dental cleaning, I knew how it looked and it was good. This location, I got my cleaning done by some young white girl who did zero cleaning of the teeth and mostly made my teeth bleed. I know how my teeth look when they get cleaned. I came out with full of buildups that it looked nothing like it was cleaned. Bottom of my teeth still had buildups. Side of my each tooth has hard buildup to a level I was wondering if she even did anything. It looked nothing like when I used to get cleaned. I am completely dumbfounded. I have to get my teeth cleaned often and they just completely took one procedure out of my insurance so I can't even get cleaned anymore. I don't think they should run business at all. The worst dentist you can think of. Don't be fooled by their office. Not one single person here knows what they are doing. They open early and close late. I think seasoned professionals all quit due to work conditions and left with student levels. She didn't mean to do a bad job. She genuinely seemed like she has no idea how to clean teeth properly
