Negative experience: The dentists here caused severe damage, leading to the loss of my tooth’s . I went to my appointment and they sent me home because my doctor didn’t come. This went on for 4 months and ended up with necrosis of 2 teeth. They admitted it couldn’t be saved and then demanded I pay three times more. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible place, if your appointment is at 1pm be there by 11am and you still won’t be seen until 1:30pm. Constantly pushed for procedures that my insurance didn’t cover and downright REFUSED to perform an extraction that my insurance did cover because I could not afford the “recommended” bone graft or collagen graft. That again was RECOMMENDED but not REQUIRED for the extraction. Now I’ve been hospitalized TWICE in just 3 days due to the pain and swelling that soon followed. Adding a photo so everyone can see what happened because of the oral surgeon at this location refusing to perform the extraction. P.s. my mouth is completely empty of any gauze or bandagings

Negative experience: NO STARS This office is absolutely unacceptable. I worked here for one day and never returned. The office was very low on supplies no small gloves, no paper towels, and overall poorly stocked. The person assigned to help/train me didn’t even speak English, which made the experience even more difficult. What was most concerning, though, was the lack of infection control. They use the same X-ray film locator on every patient without wiping it down, and I was told I would get yelled at if I disinfected the X-ray sensor. This is not safe for patients or staff. I did not feel comfortable working in an environment where patient health is at risk, so I chose not to return. This office should be inspected immediately.

Negative experience: If I could give this place negative stars I would. This place is a money hungry scamming joke. My mother went in for a root canal, and first issue was the fact that they made her sit in the waiting room for roughly 6 hours… There were other people there also complaining about having to wait for hours. They took $1000 from my mom for her root canal. Somehow the price went from $1000 to $200, even though my mom’s receipt shows that she paid $1000 for a root canal. They ended up adding an extra service to her appointment, and did not tell my mom ahead of time what this extra cost would be before continuing. They will not talk to my mom, nor reimburse her. The front desk woman also tried telling my mom that if she wants the root canal, she HAS to get a new bridge, which costs $3000. I personally work for a dental office, and that is simply not true. Trying to take advantage of low income and elderly patients and trying to lie about unnecessary costs is sickening, and this office should be ashamed of themselves :)

Negative experience: I wish I would've read the reviews before I booked my husbands appointment. His appointment was at 2:30pm and its currently 4:40pm and he still hasn't been seen. First and last. Horrible wait time, horrible experience overall. Never again.

Negative experience: My son had an appt today! We got there at 2:17 for an appt @2:30... it's 3:32 and they still haven't called his name!!I left. This office will call you down for your appt and then when u come in your generous time is not being accounted for. Maybe next i should come an hour n half maybe I'll get seen at my appt time. THIS is ridiculous and then when you say something the staff does seem concerned one bit. I'm changing somewhere in Howard Beach !!!

Negative experience: So upon going to another dentist/ endontist after going to Canarsie Family Dentistry my wife was informed that they only had to extract 1 tooth. The endontist there said they needed to extract 3 teeth. They were willing to take out 3 teeth. The actual dentist we saw for a second opinion asked, why were they going to take out 3 teeth when they only needed to remove 1. Well l guess they were getting paid for extractions so they wanted to get as much as they could from our insurance company.... SMH! The unprofessional con-artist of an endontist & the financial scammer were really out to get us at Canarsie Family Dentistry. Their major objective was not to provide a honest service, but to have us take out a loan for their financial gain. It's a shame that people come into the neighborhood they're suppose to serve & take advantage of their patrons. The Better Business Bureau should start looking into these shady characters...

Negative experience: If l could give 0 stars l would. They are a scam outfit. My wife and l when there 2 weeks ago. Before they could get finished with my wife's examination they started talking about her taking out either a $3,000, 5,000 or $8,000 dollar loan to extract & replace a bridge or implant teeth. The entodontist didn't speak about the possibility of just extracting 1 tooth and saving 2. She said why attempt to. Let's just take the 3 teeth & replace the bridge. We got a second opinion & the 2nd entodontist reported that was not necessary & that he could take the broken tooth out & save the other 2. The work that needed to be done would costless and our insurance would cover the rest. All Canarsie Family Dental wants you to do is take out loans....

Negative experience: This was my third visit. It took approximately two hours to be seen. The waiting area was hot. I arrived almost twenty minutes before the scheduled appointment time, but I was not seen until two hours later. The staff consistently called clients who had arrived after me. Last visit also had to wait over an hour.

Negative experience: I don't know what they got going on in this dentist office. But if you could avoid it, avoid it, maybe there are good doctors there, I wouldn't be able to tell they really didn't care much. All they care about is charging you for this and charging you for that. When I first made my appointment, they asked me if I had health insurance. I told them, yes, all I wanted was a tooth to be extracted. This doctor is telling me I need to put a bone I need to do this. I need to do this and that . Bro just pull the tooth. I'm not telling you. I want a root canal. I'm not telling you to save anything. I'm telling you to pull the tooth. You're getting paid through the insurance too. Pull the tooth No, they wanna charge me out-of-pocket to do something else to my mouth. I'm not doubting that he's right and I'm not doubting. That he might be a good doctor but if the patient is telling you take the tooth out just fo that , not everybody has a 1000 dollors to just give to you , and to top everything off my appointment was 11am.I didn't get called for an x ray until 2 pm , then got cold 40 minutes later. The doctor didn't even touch my face didn't even see the tooth. Just saw an X-ray, he didn't even examine me. I was so confused. They discharged my insurance for x-rays but didn't do anything to me. I will be calling my insurance. These people are scammers. And to wait four hours, that's ridiculous.I could've just went to the emergency room at eight in the morning and got my tooth pulled by 11am . And please don't get me started on the front desk i understand people could get overwhelming but at the end of the day they have to remember they are the professionals and it's just baffled to me that as soon as the client walks away, you immediately start talking about them but once again, you guys are the one behind the glass ..

Positive experience: I came in for a cleaning and check-up. Got there at 10:30 a.m. for an 11:20 appointment and was out by 11:30 on the dot. If you're going, come early—just to avoid the wait. Dr. Mira was great: kind, clear, and straightforward. The X-ray techs were quick and gentle, and Joanne, who did my cleaning, was amazing. She explained everything and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. 10/10 for the clinical staff. Now, let’s talk about that front desk. I was a new patient—walked in, wasn’t greeted, wasn’t acknowledged, nothing. I had to figure things out on my own. Eventually, I asked for an intake form because clearly no one was going to offer one. The white girl with light brown hair acted like I was interrupting her very important job of doing absolutely nothing. Her attitude? Nasty. Energy? Sour. Hygiene? Questionable. I had to raise my voice just to be helped, and even then, the way she spoke to me was like I had personally offended her by showing up for an appointment I scheduled. If being courteous, clean, and competent is too much to ask, a job that doesn’t involve speaking to actual humans might be a better fit. Because the vibe she gives? Unwashed, unbothered, and unprofessional. The rest of the staff saved the experience. But that front desk? An embarrassment. Do better.

Negative experience: If you're going to this place, be prepared to be there all day. You might be the first to arrive, but they'll pass on their acquaintances. I had my appointment at 10, and I wasn't able to see my doctor until 2 p.m. I don't recommend it.

Negative experience: I need 2 tooth to be pulled! I had a 4 clock appointment , got there at 330 , waited for hours!! Saw the dentist at 6:30. Just to tell me some ‘money grab’ BS!! He can pull the teeth but he ‘HAS’ to put some fillers in!! And wanted me to open up a line of credit with them to pay for the fillers. I said please just pull the teeth and then sew it up .. I will deal with the fillers later.. The dentist and his minion refused to give me the service my insurance paid for.. They are money hungry goons! I wish I could give it 0 stars!! Wasted my dam time and energy!! Smdh

My appointment was for 2:00pm didn’t get called till 3:05 got sent to sit back down got called back at 3:33 dentist came for 2 mins if that . Waited for the hygienist to clean my teeth , they going to day about another 20-30mins .never again

Negative experience: The absolute worst! 1. Went there with a referral for wisdom teeth extractions. The “surgeon” or nurse I don’t know what he was… but told me I had to do all 4. & I had to do a bone graph or let them draw my blood & put it in a machine to clot to put it in the hole… & my insurance won’t cover that. Who can I call to ask to help me finance the procedure?! 2. When you book the appointment & they ask you what insurance & procedure… they should inform you that you’ll have to come out of pocket because of the way they do extractions etc. 3. I waited 2 hours & they tried to do 2 extra X-rays on me… to be told I couldn’t get anything done. They’re money hungry. Everyone in the waiting room was elderly & I’m sure they force them into using their savings & disability & etc to pay for extra made up expenses. DISGUSTING! & you have to keep calling them for your X-rays if you wish to go elsewhere as if your insurance didn’t already cover those.

Negative experience: WORST DENTIST IVE EVER BEEN TOO! Nurses are really sweet and nice but the Dentist are rude, disrespectful and very passive aggressive! They worked on my mouth and let me leave with a whole bunch of white paste on my mouth without even cleaning it or letting me know it was there Dentist was so rough on my mouth and didn’t care Bathroom had no paper towel or tissue to wipe my own face AND THEY ALWAYS WANT MONEY! No matter if you have insurance or not they are going to try and get money from you!

Positive experience: I got my cleaning this afternoon at Canarsie Family Dentistry. I was lacky to have Ms. Yamile who cleaned my teeth. It was a wonderful experience, she listen to me about my extreme sensitivity and she was very patient and took her time to clean making sure that I was okay. Please if you have an opportunity to visit the site, ask for Ms. Family. She is the best.

The medical receptionist was so extremely rude to me and disrespectful to me while I was trying to make my first appointment with this company. I’ve never even seen a dentist here, but I will never see a dentist here based off how rude the receptionist was while I was trying to book my appointment. She also does not know how to do her job, which is why she is cutting me off. She gave me wrong information that was pertinent to me making that appointment which led to me not coming to this dentist office

Negative experience: I don’t really write reviews, but this place is just a mess! I went today to ask a question and all the patients were complaining about this place. I just run away from this hole ️. Just chose another place.
Negative experience: Everything is going very bad so far. I went to this office to see an endodontic but my experience was really bad. The waiting room is too small and freezing, in addition the doctor’s office was worst! The doctor and her assistant were very bad. The doctor only saw me for 2 minutes and she sent me home. I requested to have my notes in my email because her handwriting was horrible. She didn’t write any possible solutions she only gave me a referral for ortho. Now I am requesting more info and the person in the front desk only hang out the phone. please don’t go there.

Negative experience: Terrible, I don't know why the inspector general hasn't investigated this place for defrauding the people. Medicaid covered a crown and root canal and they send Rosa to get you too sign up for care credit I said no and the dentist said ok so we cant save the tooth just pull it we don't do that here. They told my mother she has to get care credit for periodontal infection treatments charged her 3k. Her insurance actually paid for it they are scammers.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this office, yes they have several 5 stars however; if you read the recent comments you would see how much of a fraud they are, I went for my appointment today and after waiting for 1 hour I had to walk out due to other obligations, they do not respect your time, the dentist frequently comes late and has no respect for time because they know they have enough patients, I signed a HIPPA form today to release my medical records and was told I would get my documents today which I have not received, if this has happened to anyone else, under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the U.S., patients have the right to access their medical records and it is illegal to not get it. I will be calling the office back next week as it is illegal! I got 4 root canals done here months ago and they are still hurting and my problem was not fixed. PATIENT BE WARE
Negative experience: They have no respect for you time. My appertment was at 3pm I have to wait for more then 2 hours that makes no sense. These people are not professional. No respect for your time.

Positive experience: I had a cleaning done here and it was slippy and messy. It was saliva all over my face, running down my neck and my shirt collar was wet. Ive never had that experience getting my teeth cleaned before.

Fantastic experience: I must state that this dentist office has the warmest and most professional staff that I ever came in contact with. I enjoy every visit that I come to. It's refreshing, I'm not familiar with everyone's names yet, but I must say that Tara is awesome. If my family or friends ever need a dental office, I will refer them to Canarsie family dentistry.
Negative experience: Went here for a cleaning and they talked me into Invisalign which I didn’t need. After I got it I immediately decided that I no longer needed that service and called them to cancel. They first told me I had to wait the next day to cancel which I did. I went into the office to cancel and they then said I needed to wait until the financial officer was in so that SHE could cancel. I demanded a paper as proof of this and they said they would disregard it for me. Fast forward two days and I was able to get the paper stating I no longer needed the service. This was in August, now fast forward months later and they pushed through the service saying that because I didn’t cancel in 48 hours I’m responsible for a $2500 bill for a service I’m not receiving. They purposely made me wait until the timeframe expired so that they could scam me into having to pay some type of bill after they knew I wanted to cancel. Do not do business with them because they act all friendly but their end goal is to make money off of you for stuff you don’t need.

Negative experience: Wish I can give these people -zero stars!! From receptionist to Dentist!! Had a 3pm appointment, never even got called for my X-rays until 3:55pm. As I’m writing this review I’m STILL WAITING TO BE SEEN!! This is RIDICULOUS!! Patients were complaining as some have been here since 12pm!! I finally leave at 5pm WITHOUT BEING SEEN!!
Negative experience: Love everything about this place. But they have no respect for time. If your appointment, for example, 12 pm, that means you will get in 2 hours after.
Negative experience: They move way too slow. Had an appointment at 11:00am for a cleaning. Arrived at 11:15. Waited 2 hours to even get x-rayed before the cleaning. Didn’t leave the office until 1:50pm. So, almost 3 HOURS for a simple cleaning. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. The main problem this office has is that they overbook everyone’s appointments for the same time slot, and then hours pass by before you even get seen. They care more about money than their patients and providing quality service to their patients. Even the lady that did my x-ray said that this office has a money fetish. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE service and blatant incompetence.

Negative experience: Warning: Scammers and Fraud Alert at this dental office! They will falsely claim your insurance doesn't cover necessary procedures, refuse to submit insurance claims, and demand upfront payment. Avoid this place at all costs – they deserve 0 stars!
Negative experience: My mother who is 76 years old stated the service was great. Yet I feel they overcharged her as well as left her to fend for herself to get home after being put to sleep. My siblings and I live in a different state and I called my mom after the surgery and she said they were going to get her an Uber or a cab she just had to let some of the dizziness go away and she'd call me when she got home. I call her like 2 hours later and she's walking from the bus stop saying the receptionist said she couldn't help her. After she just spent $6000 and was put to sleep and was by her 76 year old self a car service couldn't have been made available for her?
Negative experience: I wish I read the reviews before going. I immediately called the insurance To tell them about the experience. All I can say is wow… money HUNGRY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!

Negative experience: 10 : 15 am appointment, and I was told doctor is running late, smfh when I enquire instead someone say something. After waiting for 4 hrs I was told I cam reschedule. RUDE AND UNPLEASANT ASSISTANT. WILL.BE MY FIRST AND LAST VISIT.
Negative experience: First time I went there, Staff was great , however they need to get better at time management. But the next time I went there horrible I made an appointment for one time they call to confirm another time. Then every time I go they can’t find my x-rays talking about I need to do x-rays. To top it off I had fillings done and why 2 months later my mouth still hurts. Y’all need to do better. But I’ll be looking for another dentist.
Negative experience: I had one of the worst experiences ever. Do not go here. First they made me wait 2 hours for a cleaning. Then they tried to pressure me into signing up for Invisalign, after multiple times of me saying no. Then when I finally got my cleaning they rushed it. Terrible Terrible Terrible. Negative experience: I had went here in August 2023 I believe. Before scheduling an appointment, I called & asked if they accept my insurance I was told yes so I scheduled an appointment. At the appointment I was told that I needed a root canal done and a new crown & that “my insurance wouldn’t cover the molar tooth” & that I would have to come out of pocket and they have a “payment plan.” I did pay the downpayment for it because I just wanted the tooth to finally be fixed because this would’ve been considered the third root canal for this tooth, so I just wanted to get it over with because it was causing me issues. I was then told I have to come back the next day to get the procedure done. When I got home that day I had contacted my insurance to see if they can cover that tooth and they said that the dentist didn’t send in a form to see if they can cover the tooth. When I had arrived for the next scheduled appointment, they did X-rays and tried telling me about “additional problems “ trying to get me to pay for more things like a bone graft which I don’t see why it was necessary and then telling me I have to come back again, so I was just done with them & Asked for my paperwork and refund my money for the downpayment & to cancel the loan (which is an annoying long process) and they didn’t even fix the root canal, which they stated was infected and the only thing they did was “clean my teeth” which was not why I came there. And like others mentioned with the photos taken on their personal phones, which should violate the HIPPA laws and leaving untreated due to negligence from the careless staff, they should be sued and shut down. They only care about money and definitely had an attitude when I asked for my money back. They shouldn’t be playing with anyones health.
Negative experience: My experience at canarsie dental was horrible..had a root canal done..which they did not finish and left a piece of equipment inside my tooth lying that i had an infection which was not true..they are also scammers they will steal your money and not do the work..they need to be shut down cause that place is hell! So beware of that hell hole.
Negative experience: I waited more than an hour after my appointment was scheduled for my first x-ray to be taken. In the middle of my x-ray being taken, the staff began to gossip and stopped what she was doing. After I waited another 45 minutes for the dentist to tell me more x-ray. I could hear the staff talking about them going to a party at first. I was interested in Invisalign. I told them I was no longer because of being so annoyed with the wait time was still trying to sell me their package for it. overall I was there for more than two hours, just for my teeth to be cleaned
Negative experience: Unprofessional, careless office!!! I was there on 3rd April for a root canal in pain and the doctor told me $2,200 to pay from pocket or they would submit the request to my insurance. I agreed to wait. They rescheduled my appointment to 19th April to get the decision from insurance and prescribed a pain reliever to drink during the waiting time. I received a phone call from my insurance from an automatic system stating that the request was approved. I happily called this dental office to ask if there would be any copay for me. The manager told me that they didn't receive approval yet. I called my insurance to request it by fax or email us ASAP. The insurance agent didn't find a request from this doctor in their system. So, I called to dentist back and made a conference call to make them discuss the details. The Dental Manager informed us that they just now figured out that they never submitted a request since 3rd April. In my question why they hadn't submitted the request until now, the manager got angry, yelled at me, and hung up the phone on us. The insurance agent and I were shocked by her behavior, and the agent provided me with a phone number to submit a complaint against the office's disrespect. After the call ended they didn't answer my call anymore.

Negative experience: I went there and they tried to pressure me into doing a $9000 procedure..... but that's not the worse of it. As I walked out room 7 one of the dental hygienist was standing facing something with her phone up in her hands and standing in a position as if she was taking a picture of something. She was startled as she visible jumped, I continued to walk down the hall and wonder why she was antsy, my dental xray was on the screen and she was taking a picture of them with HER PERSONAL PHONE. Needless to say that is an ULTIMATE HIPPA VIOLATION and I will never go back there again. I can only imagine how many others this has happened to. Smh
Positive experience: The receptionists are completely misaligned and not on the same page. They aren't very friendly and don't seem to be very present. I called to make am appointment and was told the only one available was for 12 PM. The call was disconnected, and when I called back seconds later I was told I could come in at 12:30 PM. Then the day before the appointment, they called to confirm and said my appointment was alloted for 11 AM. Anyway, I get there on time and end up waiting over 3 hours just for a simple cleaning since they only had 1 hygienist on staff. The cleaning itself was a pleasant experience. The hygienist was wonderful, I would give her 5 stars if not for the other unfortunate experiences. She was very knowledgeable and provided valuable education before, during, and after the cleaning process.

Negative experience: They are money hungry. Just needed a general dentist and they tried to upsell me on a bunch of cosmetic procedures that I told them I wasn’t interested in. When they realized I wasn’t going to give them my social to see if I qualify for a loan, all they could do was clean my teeth and I had to come back to get fillings which didn’t make any sense because the dentist was there. Fast forwarding to the cleaning, I don’t even think my teeth were cleaned by the dentist but by the dental assistant. My face was covered in water, I had to stop her multiple times so I could dry my face.Felt very uncomfortable, won’t be coming back.
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. First they are practically crooks. They charge exorbitant prices and try to justify it anyway they can. Secondly, they do shoddy work. I had a root canal done there and I’m still suffering from pain and sensitivity, and when I went back The first thing they talked about, was trying to take out the tooth just so they can charge for a tooth extraction. Next between Dimitri and the owner I don’t know who’s worse they will try to smooth Talk you into thinking Something is in your best interest when it actually is not. They make promises they have no intention of keeping. Lastly, if you make an appointment to go in there, expect to be Waiting anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half before being seen.

Fantastic experience: The staff at Canarsie Family Dentistry made me feel welcome and very comfortable. I can’t remember a business or company that made me feel as comfortable as they did. It was a truly amazing experience for me.
Negative experience: I went there to cap a tooth that was broken the dentist told me it’s best I do a veneer because she didn’t know how to put the cap back on, (that should have been my heads up) then she said she couldn’t just do 1 because they would look different so she touch another tooth that didn’t have any problem because she said it wouldn’t look right. I have insurance they told me my insurance didn’t cover it. After the procedure my teeth was hurting for days and the color didn’t even match my teeth, so I called her and explained what was going on she told me come back in 3 months she’ll fix it. 3 months passed I was still in pain every time the cold air hit it, it hurts so I called and make the appointment to get it fix she’s telling me they’re going to charge my insurance (Remind you I was paying out of pocket because my insurance didn’t cover it) so I asked how come my insurance can pay for it now but it didn’t cover for it before she didn’t answer. I ended up calling the court because she didn’t want to do it over and that’s when they call me and said they’re going to do it and don’t charge my insurance. I paid over 3k for my teeth that still hurts and I’m not going back. They scam people. I told my friend about the situation she tried them to see if they’ll pull the same trick in her which they did even though she called her insurance in front of them and they still tried to make her pay out of pocket she didn’t though we left. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
