Fantastic experience: I had a dental emergency and called Lewes Dental for help. I was given an appointment immediately (within an hour) and was seen by Dr. Tananis who examined my teeth, diagnosed the condition, prescribed a course of action (including a referral to dental specialist). I am very grateful for the prompt response, care and treatment and friendliness of all staff and doctors at Lewes Dental.

Fantastic experience: Regretably, I had not been to a dentist in quite some team so I expected a verbal beatdown. That was not the case. Very professional and friendly staff here and explained the steps needed to get things back on track. Lori was great in taking x-rays, explaining everything she was doing, and overall care. Next step is cleaning and they are flexible enough to work with my schedule thusfar. Highly Recommend!

I called Lewes Dental this morning, explained the problem and asked for an appointment since I wasn’t in any pain. They took me first thing this morning for a quick and painless repair. Fantastic experience: I chipped a tooth which already been repaired once before by Lewes Dental. The chipped was no fault of the dental practice, it was due to me chipping the tooth on a pork chop bone. I called the day after I chipped the tooth and was given an appointment the next day. On the date of appointment I received a call asking if I was available to come in earlier as there was an opening and I drove to the practice, checked in and within minutes was seen by the Dentist who was excellent. He was able to fix it and about 45 minutes later I was walking out of the office. They didn’t even charge me, even though this was my fault. I have had great success with lewes dental and highly recommend them if anyone is looking for a dentist.

Fantastic experience: From start to finish everything is excellent. From the front desk, Shannon the hygienist, Mally and Tiffany the assistants and Dr. Green herself. Very thorough. I couldn't be happier. Also the person who checked me out was wonderful too (sorry, but I didn't catch her name.....). Dawn the office manager took time out of her schedule to talk to me about a possible out of network "situation" and April the insurance specialist is always available to answer questions (even via email it's pretty quick!). I highly recommend this group.

Fantastic experience: Cleaning on 8/21/24 with Shannon and Assistant Kelsey was performed professionally, gently and thoroughly. Being somewhat disabled their kindness and assistance was greatly appreciated. Fran Esposito Procedure with Dr. Green and assistant was done with great care, efficiently and no discomfort. Once again a wonderful experience, with kindness and professionalism from everybody at the practice. Cleaning by Dental Hygienist, Katie was very thorough and included great education. Once again cleaning with Katie was very thorough but gentle and included helpful hints for improving how I take care of my teeth. The exam by Dr. Green was complete and assured me that my teeth and surrounding tissues were in good shape. My dental health is very important as a senior citizen and has greatly improved under the care of Lewes Dental.

Negative experience: I recently went to Lewes Dental,as a new patient to have an implant removed. The dentist informed me he could remove the implant and basically explained the procedure. I asked him several other questions including charges for this procedure. He said he could not discuss finances with me, but a treatment person from the office would discuss the procedure with me, including charges. When I was checking out an employee gave me a computer print out with my appointment date. This print out was titled treatment plan with charges of $ 6,000, which also said it was an estimate. No one in the office, not the treatment planner or the office manager, ever spoke to me or explained any aspect of the treatment plan including charges. Several days later I contacted the office to speak with the treatment planner. I also canceled my appointment for the procedure until I could speak with someone about the treatment plan. I was told that person was not in the office that day (Wednesday) but she would contact me the next day. I received no contact from that office until the following Tuesday, when I received a cerified letter in the mail. This letter stated that Lewes Dental was canceling my treatment plan do to the fact that I refused to comply with my prescribed treatment plan. How can a dental practice develop a treatment plan for me without ever speaking to me, address my concerns or discuss chargers for the treatment. I am a 79 year old veteran with no dental insurance and would never accept a $ 6,000 charge without having my concerns dealt with in person. I found this entire episode to be extremely unsettling, stressful, insulting, and extremely unprofessional. I have moved on and found a very professional dental practice, in the area, who have taken the time to sit with me, explain the treatment plan, discuss charges, and address all my concerns. They managed to complete the implant removal at a FRACTION of the cost(80% less) than the Lewes Dental estimate and the procedure only took 30 minutes. I'm quite sure Lewes Dental will respond to this post and try to change the narrative. You be the judge when u read it. Tom Grosso

I was seated promply and Mary Louise got me reqdy fir my procedure with Dr. Green. Team work between the two of them was seemless and made me feel relax and comfortable. Dr. Green is an artist. Calm. Fantastic experience: This was my first time here. The girls in the front were very friendly. I then met with Dr. Hughes. Had my X-rays, Bitewings and a Panoramic Radio Graph. Then onto a teeth cleaning and a discussion of work to be done with the Dr. Overall a very good experience. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: 05-30-2025 Had my 3-month teeth cleaning, checkup and an x-ray. As usual the staff was great from initial check-in through the procedure. Due to some horror stories about dental visits when I was young, I always hated going to the dentist. Can't say enough good things about Lewes Dental. They are friendly, explain everything they are doing and no pain. Great people. Of all the dentists I've been to over my 75 years of life I can actually say this is the best. 02-14-2024 Since moving here 2 years ago I've been to Lewes Dental 6 or 7 times. They are much better than the dentist I saw for many years when I lived in upstate NY. This visit was for cleaning and x-rays. As usual the staff was friendly and professional. Today I saw hygienist Shannon and her assistant Sam. Both were excellent and worked quickly. I can heartily recommend Lewes Dental to anyone in the area in need of a good dentist.

Fantastic experience: I'm new to the area, and it has been very hard to find a dentist who takes my insurance. Dr. Tananis came highly recommended. Today was my first visit to Lewes Dental. Everyone was so kind. I was pleased that the hygienist did so many scans. I learned a lot. I loved that the Dentist was sincere and helped me understand everything that was going on and how his team and I could correct it.

Fantastic experience: Update 5/21/25 Dr. Green is just amazing. Like really. She's funny, relatable, professional, takes time to explain what is going on and is gentle. Ivana, my equally gentle dental hygienist, was a delight and an artist who crafted my temporary crown like Michelangelo. The amazing front office professional Amber, also put me on a cancellation call list that got me in months ahead of time! She rocks! Really, even though Lewes Dental is a hike from Bethany Beach, it's totally worth it! Update 3/19/25 Dr. Green is just awesome. Also awesome are their wonderful front office staff. Cara, as always is a bright light & and a joy! Suzanne and Amber are also friendly, helpful, and professional. Just everyone in that practice go above and beyond. --------------------------- Update 12/27/24 Woke up a week ago (right before Christmas!) with a terrible toothache. My first. Ouch! Called & they found an emergency appointment for me with Dr. Tananis. I'm going to need a root canal but they hooked me up & treated me with kindness & care. As always, Cara (the front desk Angel) was amazing. Everyone here is just wonderful. --------First Review 2023 This was a very unique, thorough, & outstanding dental experience in a state-of-art facility unlike any other! The best first impression was made when I talked on the phone to schedule my appointment and was warmly greeted by my new BFF, the Lewes Dental front desk angel, Cara. She is 5 star the BEST and a real asset to this practice. As a new patient, I had a sit down meeting and greeting with Dr. Tananis in his office to go over my dental & health history. This was a thing that had never happened before! Then Marianne kindly escorted me back to the treatment room and I had a very thorough (more than ever before!) x-ray and a gum health inspection and measurement analysis (why had this never done before?) by the super nice dental hygienist, Lori. I got great marks on my front teeth gum health but my back molar gums need immediate attention so now I'm getting a bespoke dental tray (with some side benefit whitening) - photo measured kindly by Carissa . This is a necessary, but not covered by insurance, treatment. I'll bite, gotta take your mouth health seriously! Dr. Tananis came in, went over my x-rays and the gum issues, and did a personal check of my dental condition. He has a very kind and approachable manner. Definitely a top doc! Check out, reschedule, and the bill pay treatment was a pleasure with the delightful Cara again and Silvia who looked for every discount in my Cigna plan available. Like I said at the start, this was a very unique, thorough, & outstanding dental experience unlike any other. Will update this review as we go along. Only downsides, no guest WiFi, awkward parking, and a super creepy ugly teeth before/after monitor screen display you have to stare at whilst sitting in the treatment chair. I would prefer a slideshow of Dr. Tananis and his amazing photographs that are for sale (to benefit charity) throughout the office. Those before/after teeth will feature in my nightmares! LOL But the rest of the experience was outstanding! 5 stars all around! UPDATE1: Got my bespoke dental trays today for my gum treatment & they were introduced to me by the wonderful Marianne Young - she's very friendly and approachable. Seems like every visit prompts a request for a positive review. Good PR strategy, & since I'm a Google Local Guide, I'm game!

Fantastic experience: 5-2025 Update: This appointment was for x-rays & cleaning. The cleaning was completed by Maria and review by Dr. Tananis. Maria was excellent, and as usual the office team is always upbeat and very friendly. This is a great dental office and team! 4-2025 update. I had a crown installed on my back molar since it broke apart and had a temporary repair per last visit. On this visit, the crown was installed by Dr. Tananis in one sitting. Outstanding job! This office team is a great experience! Highly recommend . 2-2025 Update: Quick fix on a broken part of my tooth. I'll be back for a crown at my next appointment. As always, per below comments... this is a very professional dental office and the team of people are outstanding, including Dr. Richard Tananis! Wow, all fixed up in a flash. Naturally over the holidays a piece of tooth broke off and Lewes Dental was on hand and fixed me right up. This was my second visit since moving here 3 years ago, and another great experience once again. The nicest dental team folks in the area! Happy holidays everyone Update: June 2023. Fantastic experience: I am new to the area, and new to this practice. From my initial phone contact with Cara, and further calls and emails, she was extremely helpful and friendly. I had my I initial exam and appointment today. I met with Dr. Tananis, who was very professional, knowledgeable and honest. Then I went in and met with Lori and Sam, who were equally welcoming and professional at the same time. I felt very valued and at ease with my entire exam and X-rays. They explained all of their findings and suggested a plan of care for me to follow. I knew I was in the right place when the Doctor had enough confidence in them to fully agree with their findings, and let them plan my care. The insurance experts there consulted with me about the coverages, appointments and cost. I'm sorry I didnt get these ladies names. They were awesome as well. I highly recommend Lewes Dental in every way and my experience was great!

Fantastic experience: From a visit a few months ago: The hygienist, Lori, was really good. Her assistant, Carissa, just as professional. Front desk was very accommodating. And the office manager made everything go smoothly. I cannot rate the dentist, he didn't look in my mouth today.... Anyway, they made my teeth shine!! Today: Dr Green fixed an incisor. Fantastic. Ivana and Kelsey were very helpful to her and paid attention to my comfort. Amber cleaned my teeth and did a wonderful job. Update, May 7, Dr. Green was not available so I had the new guy, Dr. Greg Hughes, fix my upper right second molar. He did a helluva job. His assistant, Ivana, also did a helluva job. Both of these dentists might be better than the older dude....

Fantastic experience: We are new to southern Delaware so finding a new dentist was a daunting task. I have had three visits to Lewes Dental - first was an introductory visit and x-rays, second for teeth cleaning and third for a filling due to decay. All three visits went amazingly well. The front desk staff is very welcoming and knows their jobs. The dental hygienist who did my cleaning was wonderful. And Dr. Tananis is brilliant and skilled. He explained everything he was doing and why. The filling was absolutely painless. Well done!

Fantastic experience: I had the best 6 month dental cleaning today. Starting with Molly, taking X-rays and getting me settle ready for the hygienist. Shannon, my hygienist had the lightest touch when it came to her cleaning my teeth. Nothing feels better than a fresh, clean smile !! I couldn’t be happier with my experience today !!

Fantastic experience: Was a few mins early, they were ready and took me right in. Explained the results of my cleaning and showed a pic of a problem crown. They did a thorough exam and explained the new process for replacing the crown. Very happy with my dentist, the staff and the facility.

Fantastic experience: Mally, the hygienist assistant, introduced herself to me, walked me to the room. She saw that I was anxious and tried to put me at ease. Shannon, the hygienist, has a calming personality, spoke very gently, gave positive feedback based on prior examinations, and let me know how much time was left (which is very important when you really don’t like going to the dentist).

The staff could not have been friendlier or more engaging. Lori and Mariella were uber professional, thorough, patient and kind. I’m thrilled to have found a practice that saw me as a person!

Fantastic experience: I have dentist phobia. BEST place. They are so so nice and comforting. Every person really goes out of their way to be helpful and kind. They have all the high tech equipment. I had 2 teeth pulled and could not even imagine how well the recovery went. I may not be afraid to go to the dentist anymore.

Fantastic experience: Having unexpected dental work at the start of a new year is no one’s idea of fun. The doctor and professional staff at Lewes Dental made this unfortunate event as good as it possibly could have been. They even got me in right away. I felt very comfortable having Dr. Hughes address my issue. Dr Hughes is knowledgeable and it was evident that he put extra thought into solving my issue in the best possible way. The professional support staff worked seamlessly with the doctor and seemed more than competent. Everything was explained clearly to me. Lewes Dental has been the best possible choice for my dental professionals.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a new dentist as I just moved to the area. I met the Lewes Dental Team at a Health and Wellness fair. I think their entire team was there and everyone was friendly and informative. I was told that all hygienists have been with the practice at least 8 years which I like. I went for my initial consultation within 2 weeks for meeting them, again, a plus. I met the dentist and discussed dental history, concerns and care. This is the most thorough first dental appointment I've had. The hygienist then did full x-rays and gum measurements. I'm looking forward to having Lewes Dental take care of my choppers.
