I have always gotten adequate help. And I’d like to mention that Dr. Reza is stellar! He personally followed up on a procedure to ensure I was well.

Fantastic experience: After chewing a piece of gum, a piece of my tooth came out with the gum. I called Escondido family dental the next day and they scheduled me the soonest appointment that they could. When I went all of the staff were very nice and welcoming to me. They did x rays on my teeth and they immediately started to work on my tooth that broke off. I was so relieved that they were able to do it the same day and not make me wait a week to get it fixed. They have been the best to me and I appreciate all of their help

Fantastic experience: This was my first time here and all the people that work here are super welcoming, helpful, and understanding! The dentist was very informed, took pictures of my teeth and actually showed me what work needs to be done, which has never happened with me before, I appreciated that. They were able to get me in super quick. They have the advanced technology xray scanner which was super cool!! Staff and dentist were amazing! Definitely recommend this place!!

Negative experience: I wish this was a better experience but I just felt taken advantage of and sick to my stomach when we left. My husband and I are teachers on summer break and called to book a cleaning as new patients (we didn’t want to pay out of pocket for cleanings outside of our insurance we already pay for). Escondido family dental was in our network so we went ahead. We showed up and had all our forms filled out, they took all of our X-rays and then proceeded to take us to a “consult room”. Which was very confusing for us. We sat down in another room and waited for 15 minutes only to be told I have 3 cavities and needed a crown…and my husband had 6 cavities and needed 2 crowns. Over $3000 worth of work out of pocket. We have been regularly going to another dentist and just went 6 months ago and both of us have neither had a cavity in our lives or were told that a tooth was cracked. When we asked about the cleaning, they said they would book us on another day…our kids were getting to the end of their attention span after waiting with us for an hour and a half. They also encouraged us to open a care credit and proceeded to tell us it would be for 24 months at only $59 a month for my husband with no interest-but thankfully I know how care credit works and after 6 months you are charged all the interest from the time you open the card if it’s not paid off. I wish their “procedures” were explained up front rather than take all that time to not even clean our teeth. In addition, the dentist asked my husband if we were both “healthy” because of the state of our teeth…. Overall just a very unprofessional experience and frustrating that I now need to find another office.

Negative experience: Unfortunately lack of communication is what’s the leader of this review. Yes, the staff and doctor was very friendly but I was very clear about my expectations. I’m thankful they got me in quick as i chipped my front tooth and was wanting it fixed. I specifically said, i don’t want anything else done. Just the chipped tooth. Can i get a quote on that. I was told between $55-$85, may be covered by insurance. I said no. That’s fine, but I want to assure that fixes my chipped tooth as I’m now missing work for this appointment, she assured me. I came in @8:20 the next morning, again, staff was very kind but I reiterated that i was ONLY here for the chipped tooth and would come back for cleaning / fillings later. Yes. I get take to take back where they do X-rays, i asked if this was included for the chip which i was told “yes” Fast forward to the dentist looking at my tooth, giving me a great recommendation then saying “but today you’re in a hurry so we will fix your tooth and make future appointments, someone will be right out with a quote and we can get started” Not me thinking a quote for the braces/cleanings for the next appointment, bc to my surprise they came out with a $290 for my chipped tooth. I was confused and asked what the $55-$85 quote was. They responded, Oh for the checkup WELP. There goes my ENTIRE Morning and $$ for absolutely nothing. I work for a clinic myself and this just felt like i was being tricked into coming in with zero regard to what i actually needed. The entire thing simply sucked and i was very disappointed

Fantastic experience: My dad came in for a deep cleaning and said it was one of the best! He has had cleanings in the past and said this one was amazing. Very little soreness and amazing results. The location is very clean, great customer service! Everyone is so polite.

Negative experience: They made me pay $85 for a consultation for them to tell me I’m not applicable for what i wanted to get done that i have to get braces first which is not true my front teeth are straight i will find a better place elsewhere just a waste

Fantastic experience: Everyone was great. I had a lot of work done and it all went well. Everyone from the front desk to the hygienists to the dentist was great.

Negative experience: Friendly staff made for a great visit. Even though it was for crowns it was very quick and didn’t scare me away. I wish they did was let me know they only offer the most expensive option for crowns that most insurance doesn’t cover.

Positive experience: The doctor was probably the fastest I've ever had. I've been to three or four dentists in my life and Dr. Merhan Raza was probably the most skilled. My only negative is they really tried to upsell me on Zirconium crowns but the doctor's skills were more than worth it.

Melodie(could be misspelled) did an amazing job with my cleaning and made sure I was never in pain and provided tons of information. DR. Raza. Finished me up with cavity cleaning. Great place they make you feel like family.

Negative experience: Take this review with a grain of salt because I last visited a few years back. However, I felt compelled to say something after seeing a different dentist recently and having night-and-day experiences. First of all, this office incentivized me to leave a review before my appointment was even complete. You get entered in a raffle for the review. Of course the pressure is there to put a five-star review since you’re not done with your appt yet. Second, maybe I came on a bad day but the hygienist was NOT gentle with my sensitive teeth. I kept telling them it hurt badly but they didn’t change their approach, just kept going and putting me in immense pain. It was such a traumatic experience that I couldn’t bring myself to return to a dentist for years. Third, the doctor himself was friendly enough, but overall the rest of the staff were not friendly nor compassionate when I visited. I hope I just visited on a bad day, but that should never happen regardless. I will not be returning here if I can help it. There are many dentists in the area with great organic reviews, I would try them before trusting the reviews here.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a more local dentist, so this was my first time here. Staff was friendly and professional, equipment seemed modern, my intake was pretty quick. The total visit was about two hours, which is probably normal for a new patient. I'm hoping to be in and out a little faster in the future.
