Fantastic experience: My first visit was a complementary consultation. During the consultation the staff and Dentist went above and beyond, not only addressing all my concerns,, but informed me of any upcoming issues that may occur with my teeth. This Initial consultation prompted me to now be a patient for future Dental needs at Dr. Burdens office.

Fantastic experience: Everyone in the office is friendly and my procedure was pain free. The hygienist kept asking if it is hurting.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is always terrific. They go beyond to make sure you are satisfied. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Positive experience: I thought the staff was professional. The offices seemed very current. My actual visit didn’t go well & not explained to me in enough detail. I was a 1st time patient. I went in for a cleaning & check . I left with a $2900 estimate & no cleaning. So $113 later for my X-rays . I was told I had 5 cavities & needed my back 2 teeth scaled. I needed to do this in 2 appointments. I left stunned. So I called the next day to cancel my appointment to get a second opinion & ask why I didn’t get a cleaning ( which wasn’t explained to me that I needed a deep cleaning & scrape to ALL my teeth) I had to find that out from a friend in the dental field. So when I asked about it the attendant on the phone told me I had severe periodontal disease. Huh?! No one said anything except the back 2 teeth. So now I don’t know if I’m being lied too? Or if No one gave me information? So I cancelled & hung up.

Fantastic experience: These guys were superheroes to my daughter.We had a minor tragedy elsewhere of trying to get braces on. These guys really turn the experience around. Very grateful for them would recommend anybody to see them.

Negative experience: Dr Burden was very condescending when I wanted a tooth extraction and could not afford an implant.

Negative experience: You always remember how people and businesses make you feel… This dental office made me feel like all they cared about was my money and insurance. Dr. Burton did nothing to help my mouth or teeth even when I was in pain or needed work in the end.. I went in needing help and did not get it. Not even pain medicine for the pain I was in. I suggest you go find another doctor Who will actually take care of you when you need it.

Fantastic experience: I had two teeth removed that had infection in them. The Doctor and her staff was very professional and understanding. They explained everything that was going to be done and told me what was happening as it was being been. I could not have asked for better service. Also, the office staff was outstanding explaining cost and future cost for what I am planning to have do.

Fantastic experience: We had an excellent experience with Dr. Abdul at Dr. Burden's office. We were in town for a baseball tournament and my 8 yo son complained of a toothache and a chip -- on a Friday evening around 4:00pm. I googled "emergency pediatric dentist" and smiles of williamsburg popped up. I spoke to Melissa who was wonderful and she told us to head right over. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and Dr. Abdul provided the best care, resulting in a great outcome without much pain or anxiety. We are so grateful for Dr. Abdul and your entire office.

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was on vacation in the area when my crown cracked—definitely not the souvenir I had in mind! Thankfully, I found Dr. Burden, who truly saved the day. Despite my tight schedule, he was able to rush the lab to get everything done before I had to leave town. The entire experience was excellent. Dr. Burden and his staff were extremely friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. They made me feel at ease right away and went above and beyond to help me out in a stressful situation. I’m so grateful for their outstanding service and will definitely be recommending them to anyone in the area!

Negative experience: Since you texted my mother asking for me to leave a Google review, here it is. I haven't been to this denist in 20 years and they continue to harass my mother with mail and text messages about my dental care. I called and asked them to stop but they haven't. Edit: if she stops the texts then the ones she receives for her personal appointments would stop. This isn't even starting to go into the environmental impact of 20 years of junk mail.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience at Dr. Burdens office! I had a tooth that needed a crown after a root canal. They were able to get me in immediately as a new patient and perform the procedure the very same day. Rachel and Dr. Abdul were very professional and made me feel confident. I have anxiety with these procedures, but I felt great having these two work on me. Chevalia was also very bright and helpful, and helped me schedule up my next steps! I will be going here from now on!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Burden and staff were informative, attentive , and listened to my concerns. The day of my procedure , everyone was focused on my comfort. Billing worked with me before my appointment to alleviate any surprises. This smile group kept me smiling !

Negative experience: This is my third visit to this dentist, and they’ve consistently messed up my appointments and bills. Since day one, Jaidyn - coordinator has been rude, both in tone, choice of words and facial expressions. It’s frustrating that they don’t properly document everything from previous visits. During my last visit, someone (I’m not sure of her name) told me that today’s cleaning (2/28) would cost around $200 for a regular cleaning. Now I find out it’s actually a deep cleaning. Why didn’t they clarify this was a deep cleaning and not a regular one? Additionally, they’re asking me to pay over $300 for a filling from a past visit, despite already paying for five cavities. They also messed up a filling I wasn’t aware of until my last visit. They didn’t finish filling four cavities from previous visits, and now I’m being told I have two more cavities that need filling. How did this happen? According to the DA, they made an error. Now I have to come back for more fillings? It feels like they’re overcharging me too. I don’t have any issues with the DAs, but the administration is terrible. There’s poor communication between the clinical staff and the office, and the clinical notes are incorrect according to the DA I spoke with. During my last visit, they tried to charge me an additional $300 to $400 for a filling that was supposedly already done. I paid in advance for that! They were supposed to finish my fillings on the same day, but they didn’t. My advice is be careful when booking your appointment—make sure to check your treatment plan to avoid double charges. This is just an initial review as I’m still waiting for my last treatment. By the way, Dr. Q was great! She was the one who informed me during my last visit that I still had two fillings left. She filled one that day and scheduled the last one for today. She fixed the errors that were made..However, I checked in around 2:15 pm and am still waiting. It’s now 3:30 pm, and they’ve messed up my schedule again. This is just initial review I’m still waiting for my last treatment. To Dr. James, this is just my opinion,Jayden role as coordinator I don’t think she’s fit on this role. Since I don’t see the sympathy and kindness.

Fantastic experience: Follow-up: 2 years later, May 2025, thanks to two fast response appointments arranged by the staff to cover an infected root canal, my pain has come and gone. Amazing speed and immediate referral to an Endodontics group that matched Smiles of Williamsburg's speed for my immediate relief. Kudos all around! By the time Dr. Burden was in my mouth to close up the root canal no pain killers were needed, and the work was completed very quickly. Whatever the space age material that was used, I walked out and went to lunch. ----- Started with a rebuild of my front teeth 5 years ago when one broke off the 2nd week after my move to a new home in Williamsburg, VA. Great care and education about options and performance expectations -- which has included rib eye steak and apples where I had not been able to eat any for a very long time. Not an "in network" Dentist but a prepay discount that narrowed the gap. Bonus: boosted an age-related flat upper lip by a subtle build out of the upper implant teeth. Good for a 75 year old -- removing a major age indicator without botox or other interventions. Dr. B is an ingenious artist who lives and breathes good dental care and good looking teeth.

I love this Office it is absolutely the best dentist I've ever been to, and as military families go we've been to many!

Negative experience: I did not feel comfortable. Dr.Burden is all about money with little to no compassion. I see where others have stated he will refuse to honor your request and simply force you to pay thousands or no treatment from his office. His bedside manner is cold! He said I didn’t have enough teeth to consider pulling another tooth. Eventually I won’t be able to chew a steak. I wouldn’t let any medical professional provide care to me after that kind of comment. He doesn’t care about the patient or their health . ONLY THE MONEY!

Fantastic experience: The absolute best dentist in the Williamsburg area. Very fast service. I called on a Wednesday afternoon and was able to be seen the following morning. I pay out of pocket and the prices are very reasonable. The Dentist is super helpful and friendly very knowledgeable about the treatment I need.

Negative experience: I wasn’t able to give 0 star. Run from this place! Hardly any good reviews on this place. They told me $75 to clean my teeth since I didn’t have any insurance. I had just taken off my braces 2 days before, & my orthodontist had just done polishing my teeth. All this place did was an X-ray, & looked in my mouth- told me I needed deep cleaning, and then front desk told me that would cost $868.00 GTFOH with that! I don’t care what they saw, just clean my teeth for God’s sake!!!Just do what you said the $75 would be for! So it seems $75 was a consultation fee. . Never again!!!! ‍♀️

Negative experience: All three of my molars were implanted in this clinic, and the cost was $13,500 (not including extraction). After the implants, I found that the three teeth were smaller than before, and the chewing efficiency was low. I asked the doctor, and he said that if they were bigger, the bones below would be cracked when chewing hard. And I found that there were gaps between the two teeth and the upper teeth, which seriously affected the chewing of food. After communicating with the doctor, the doctor said that new crowns should be made. I couldn't eat well for several months, and I had to pay for the crowns. In the end, I had to pay money that I shouldn't have paid.

Fantastic experience: I had a root canal procedure on a molar three years ago and the tooth died. I lived with it for three years, but this week it started to cost me problems and I got an appointment with Dr. Burden with 3 days notice. His staff was exceptional. He saw me right on time explained all of my options and extracted the tooth. I’ve had several teeth pulled in my 78 years of life. This was the easiest and most painless experience I’ve ever had. I am now going to have him do an implant for the tooth that’s removed. I highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I have been struggling with my teeth for years 6 years clean from substances abuse and after acid reflux for years my teeth need A LOT of TLC Dr. Burden and his wonderful team have made it a breeze and they were so welcoming. All my fears diminished as soon as I walked in to the office. I have a long road of dental care ahead and I'm actually excited for the first time Instead of dreading the dentist the team of dental assistants in this office are so genuine and bubbly!! Negative experience: THEY DO NOT TAKE MILITARY INSURANCE. If you or your spouse are active duty and you have untied Concordia, they are an out of network dentist. They will not tell you. Don't get fooled like i did! I was lied to and paid a lot of money for a cleaning. Make sure you check with your insurance before visiting. They will not tell if your insurance doesn't take their office. So double check those claims!

Fantastic experience: This was my first time with Dr Corbett and I just have to say she is excellent and I hardly ever say that lol. She was very nice, skillful and accommodating. Five stars for sure. Thanks for a timely appointment too! I needed a crown and the process was great! I definitely left with a smile on my face!

My hygienist, Laurie, put me at ease explaining each step of the appointment while maintaining extreme care with me. I have vertigo and she let me know she does too, I cannot explain the relief that came to me as I found that she could understand my limitations and accommodate above and beyond with kindness. Truly the greatest experience in any HCP environment. Dr. Corbett was also incredibly caring and patient with me which made me feel very comfortable in a normally uncomfortable situation for myself. She took the time to sit and talk with me answering any questions I had which I deeply appreciated. I will be recommending this office to everyone and anyone I talk to about dentistry.

Fantastic experience: They where very fast, the staff was kind and welcoming and they listened to all our concerns. And they got us in that same day as a new patient. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.

Negative experience: I had a crown and root canal treatment done here- and it was done COMPLETELY wrong. Ruined my tooth to the point where I now need an extraction and BONE GRAFTING. When the crown was done - he cracked my tooth and left it be. Do not get crowns and root canals done here. I now am in debt with them and have had to pay hundreds to thousands of MORE DOLLARS to get my tooth fixed that they ruined. Very disappointing.

Negative experience: UPDATE: I went to a new dentist and it’s going to cost me $10,000 to fix what was done by Dr Burden. One tooth he worked on actually needs to be pulled. The partials I have is an old way of making them new technology is out there and you need a dentist that is up to date on them. KEEP AWAY!! Unfortunately I didn’t know any better. I now have a lawyer trying to resolve the issues I had from Dr Burdens unprofessional and inadequate treatment. I needed quite a bit of work and was told implants weren’t an option because I didn’t have enough bone for the posts, my only option was partials on top and bottom and I needed some crowns. Long story short crowns are good, bottoms are OK but tops are horrible! They hurt and I can’t talk or eat with them. Went back in and was told implants are my only option for top. After spending over $16,000 all of the sudden I can do implants on the top for an additional $13,000. I’m still making payment on first bill and since it’s financed they got paid and I have no recourse I want to warn others to do research and get second or third opinions. But most of all DO NOT use Dr Burden. Also don’t do the financing they talk you into your paying up front for services not yet provided and when things go wrong you will still be paying for it. Pay for services as you get them done. Another lesson learned the hard way.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. I almost got suckered into thousands and I mean THOUSANDS of dollars of work...that was NOT needed. He is all about money, and doesn't care about the patient. I felt like I was dealing with a car salesman when setting up my "needed" treatment plan. I've never paid so much money for a cleaning, and that's not even what I was there for. Unless you feel like throwing money away, stay away from this office!

Negative experience: I am furious and extremely disappointed with James A. Burden, D.D.S. & Associates of Williamsburg, VA for their complete lack of transparency and professionalism. Here’s what happened: I scheduled my appointment well in advance and provided my insurance information, and I was assured by their staff that they accepted my insurance. Not once did they disclose that they were actually out of network! During my visit, I was told my balance was fully covered except for a fluoride treatment, which I paid for right there. I even received a receipt stating “Patient Portion: $0.00.” Then, a month later, I received a bill for almost $400, supposedly for routine X-rays and cleanings for myself and my spouse. These charges should have been mostly covered by my insurance. When I called the office, they casually mentioned they were “out of network,” meaning I was on the hook for all these extra costs. This critical information was conveniently withheld from me upfront! Despite multiple calls and messages left for the office manager, I have yet to receive a single response. It’s clear they’re dodging accountability and hoping I’ll just quietly pay these surprise charges. I am canceling all future appointments and will be reporting James A. Burden, D.D.S. & Associates to the State Attorney General’s Office, state dental board, my insurance, and the Better Business Bureau for their deceptive billing practices. This is not how healthcare should be conducted. If you value transparency and honesty, do not go to this dental office. They clearly prioritize profits over their patients’ well-being and trust. **A follow up on my last review* Smiles of Williamsburg resolved this issue and I am happy that they were able to waive the charges. However, I will not be returning to this dentist as they are out of network.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Corbett is very kind and sut patience with her staff a clients. I was very scared of dentist after a traumatic experience I had with someone else, but I would come back to her anytime to get dental work done again. She is wonderful.
