LaSante Health Center

Negative experience: Finally leaving this office and taking my care management elsewhere. This office and Dina Malavaky has repeatedly submitted the wrong pre authorization for me to receive a mandatory and necessary MRI of a mass in my spine. They have repeatedly sent the wrong request for going on 3 weeks and I will be filing a medical neglect case with the city.

Fantastic experience: My nurse Jada was awesome – my blood draws have historically been very difficult and she made it painless and easier than it's ever been. She was calm, funny and put me at ease. Front desk was lovely and the checkout experience was great too. Doctor was knowledgeable, very fast and thorough, and I got results from my routine tests quickly.

Negative experience: I just called to ask about getting a broken crown fixed. I was told that because I saw a dentist in the last six months I couldn’t make an appointment. Only as an emergency could I come in. Which sounded like that would be a higher cost. I’ve never experienced this before with any dentist office. All they would need is to have my records and X-rays sent over. It’s too bad. I was excited to find a highly rated dentist with great reviews that accepts my insurance. It’s not an easy find.

Fantastic experience: My son and have been patients of Dr. McKenzie and Dr. Gold ever since we moved to Brooklyn almost three years ago. The doctors and staff are the absolute best I’ve ever had. They are thorough, compassionate and very knowledgeable and friendly. Also, they have several specialists under one roof-including podiatry, dental, mental health, gastroenterology and much more. The staff and doctors have been amazing to us. Quite a blessing.

Negative experience: The dermatologist barely took time to diagnose what I have properly. Horrible experience.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to LaSante health center for 4 years now and I highly recommend it. The staff is friendly, they are very efficient, the provide everything. Primary care doctor, dentist, gynecology, dermatologist etc. The best part is that they have great hours and are open late which fits with my schedule !

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment with the dentist for my kids. Dr. Chaudhary is awesome, my 4yo was nervous, and she put him at ease quickly. My other son was nervous until he found out that Dr Eghbali would be seeing him, then he relaxed. We also saw the optometrist. Dr Mostovsky is quick, organized and and excellent doctor. Thank you for the great experience!

Positive experience: I booked an appointment for my son on Zoc doc on a Monday for an appointment on Thursday. I received a call Tuesday morning to confirm the appointment at 8am in the morning. (First red flag) I realized my son would need an appointment sooner so I called to cancel the appointment on Tuesday. I called the front desk the receptionist picked up the phone without saying hello and was talking to someone else in the back ground. (Second red flag) When she eventually said hello I told her I needed to cancel an appointment for my son and gave his DOB. When I realized Zoc Doc booked the appointment for me I told her. She said well if it’s for you you have to give me your DOB. Once I gave her my DOB she responded “why is it booked under your name”. (Third red flag) The appointment was for a pediatrician why is it no one notice the DOB of the patient was for an 30+ year old? I won’t be rebooking with them. The front staff seems rude and gossipy just from the lady picking up the phone I picked that up.

Negative experience: On my visit with Dr Zara Chaudhary, front desk ladies very nice and accommodating. X-ray was pure torture. The first thing I did was share to Dr Zara Chaudhary the horrible malpractice experience i had in the past. Then I also express to her that dentist visit gives me anxiety, stress, and that in some of my teeth the previous doctor i was seen caused me sensitivity in some of my teeth; that went in one ear and came out through Zara Chaudhary other ear immediately.This doctor dont care at all for patients, did not take nothing I told her in consideration. She proceeded roughing my mouth and given me attitude bc I had to keep asking for a second of break bc it whurting me. For a simple first time visit clean up, Weeks later my mouth continued to be in extreme pain so I cancelled the next appointment I had with her and told the receptionist the reason. Pls pay close attention on dental visits bc there is thousands of doctors operating but only 2 might know what they are doing. I will NOT recommend Lasante Dentist department especially Dr Zara Chaudhary has a sickening actitude and 0 care + you come out of there simpily worse (Nightmare). Every person that asked me about there dentist services i make sure I share my bad experience.

Negative experience: I would like to express my concern regarding an unfortunate experience I had with NP. Okon Ofiong during a recent visit to LaSante Health Center. Although she was not my assigned “provider” during this visit, she chose to publicly address me in a manner I found disrespectful, unprofessional, and inappropriate. While I was speaking to a Medical Assistant who had just completed my bloodwork, Dr. Ofiong interjected in front of other patients, providers, and staff. She loudly remarked, “Oh, you’re here for a visit? You finally made it to an appointment,” in a sarcastic and condescending tone. I was shocked and embarrassed by her unsolicited comment, which felt entirely personal and uncalled for especially in a public clinical setting. This behavior crossed professional boundaries and, in my view, may also raise concerns about HIPAA compliance, as her remarks pertained to my prior care history and were made in a public space. Patients deserve to feel safe, respected, and treated with dignity in healthcare environments. If Dr. Ofiong had a legitimate need to speak with me as a former patient, it should have been done privately and respectfully, not as a public remark laced with sarcasm. I respectfully recommend that this matter be addressed, and that Dr. Ofiong be reminded of the importance of maintaining professionalism, discretion, and appropriate patient interaction all of which are essential in delivering quality healthcare. Fantastic experience: Nice place. Great staff. I had a great experience. Dr Zara C. She is very great and knowledgeable in her line of work. She is definitely an expert and professional at what she does. You can tell that she doesn't only love what she does for herself but for her patients as well. I highly recommend her to everyone and anyone seeking a professional, experienced, skilled, and caring Dr. She's also very helpful and listens well to the needs of her patients, and she works pretty fast and efficiently with the best results in her mind and the patients mind as well.

Negative experience: The front desk staff especially on the weekeends are gossiping, bitter and unprofessional individuals who lack training and lack basic respect. The therapists are also robotic, racist and lack empathy.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been looking for a dentist for 3 years to get two crowns. I’ve been to two other health centers but they never follow through, especially either my insurance authorization. I got it done within 3 months. Customer service is impeccable. I highly recommend LaSante Health Center. I took my mother, my sister, and friend to see their dentist. All of them received ***** treatment. Kudos

Fantastic experience: Dr. Castillo is an amazing dentist. She is down to earth and for the people. She values total health and wellness and sees everyone as more than just a patient. When you sit in her chair, you can feel her genuine concern about you, your life and most importantly your oral health. She is sincere and willing to teach and educate you regarding your oral health should you have questions and concerns. Dr. Castillo is a phenomenal dentist and is the epitome of providing high quality care. Dr. Castillo is certainly the best.

Negative experience: 4/2025 edit - security guard is gone. Two hours and counting today for a routine eye exam. If I am putting my issues in writing then I am posting them here! I have called and left voicemail complaints, my providers have made complaints about the security guard, the front desk ppl don't like the security dude. So shall I come in person or am I writing it all here?!? EDIT 7/2024 - Have not been back in 7 months. Building is a mess from the outside in. Had the last of many horrible interactions with their "security guard" at the end of 2023. After many attempts to speak with management no one ever addressed. my concerns or got back to me. The place is always packed now and the wait time is crazy esp when you get back to an exam room. The waiting area is carpet is heavily stained  - just gross. OG reviews - No complaints. I have had pretty bad care for the past several years. This place is a breath of fresh air.

Fantastic experience: Zara was very professional, kind and caring just what I needed for my mom who has early stages of deminitia. The service from both the doctor and staff was excellent.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Ofiong Okon for the first time for an annual physical, and she is an extremely intelligent, warm, and friendly doctor. Despite this being the first time I've seen her, she is efficient at her work, knew how to answer all my questions exhaustively (and even answered some before I knew to ask them), took my concerns seriously, made followup calls earlier if she felt action needed to be taken sooner and gave you what you needed for docs/referrals--everything you want from a doctor. She doesn't mince words, but even when giving you direct results, she has a great sense of humor and energy. (even found out our birthdays are close to each other!) The work she's done for the NYC community, for medical education, and for gender-affirming care in the past is also important for me for value alignment too. After so much time with other providers that did not give me the proper time of day by comparison, she has already made a difference to me.

Negative experience: Do not put something as precious as your health into these people’s hands. The most disorganized, poorly run medical office I’ve ever been to. Bad communicators who do not even seem equipped to handle simple paperwork.

Negative experience: I had a 3:30pm appointment, I’m not feeling well. It’s 5:20pm I’m still waiting to be called. Absolutely ridiculous. Looking for a new pcp. I would not recommend coming here, not worth it

Fantastic experience: Dr. Zara Chaudhary is the most amazing dentist I’ve ever seen in my entire life - and I’ve seen a LOT of dentists all over the country. She was so compassionate and empathetic to my needs and pain, and was very conscious of avoiding making me uncomfortable. She didn’t shame me for my shitty dental hygiene, and helped me find ways to improve it. She also helped debunk myths from previous mean/uncaring dentists, and helped me learn new facts and tricks related to everything teeth. She even diagnosed bothersome conditions, and tried to be creative in my individualized treatment plan. She always teaches me something new and makes me feel better about myself and my teeth. I wish she could be my doctor for everything!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Dina Malavsky was great. She seemed to genuinely care about my well being and wanted to make sure I scheduled the tests I needed to make sure I had a clean bill of health.

Positive experience: NP Okon makes you feel very at ease, like talking to a good girlfriend. The wait time at the clinc has improved as well and getting same day appointments are possible depending on the day

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr.Chaudhary to have 4 crowns done. All at once. Each visit required over an hour of work. I am NOT a good patient. I have a horrible gag reflex and get really anxious. This was the best dental experience I have ever had. Dr. Chaudhary was patient, reassuring and went out of her way to come up with ways to prevent gagging...she did things that no other dentist in 35+ years ever thought of...and it worked. In my most recent appointment I didn't gag once! I'm a big fan...just don't book her up all the way...save some appointments for me

Negative experience: Didn’t have my lenses, never call to tell me when it was available , refuse to give me my prescription for it , cancel appointment, come back 3 months after still no lenses , tell me she will reorder it, next day call me to say the lenses was there , come back another time in the office , no lenses no prescription, service calling me to tell me that she doesn’t accept my insurance , told me to come back again in the office to get the prescription and lenses but no appointment needed, come back again and nothing was available . And every time they re telling me that I miss my appointment and they didn’t call me earlier to tell me to cancel . Total mess. Love the pediatric department but this lady is a total mess. I still do not have my lenses prescription.

Negative experience: This health center is a joke. I had over a two hour wait for a yearly check up with pre-check in from a mobile device. There is also no clarification of what side will call you in for the additional wait for your appointment. There’s five people behind the desk who are of no help. People have to take off work, use sick hours or time off due to the health center hours to only get lackluster services. This institution is a joke and should be more efficient and better serve the public. It’s called healthcare, not “be sick, unserved in our waiting room” care.

Negative experience: It's been a nightmare getting medicine refills. I even wasted over two hours on Thursday; I spent an hour plus in the examining room, where I fell asleep for an hour. I'm not sure what else to do other than post a real opinion here, which I seriously doubt anyone will see. Great front staff, lousy back office staff. One too many SUNY Medical students pervade. They seem to be ALL OVER the place, and it isn't very pleasant. My primary care, Dr. Valery, is fantastic. However, there is too much happening at LaSante to maintain a healthy and high-level patient wellness protocol. It's feeling like a puppy mill. Something isn't working well at LaSante, so it's time to find a new doctor.

Fantastic experience: I am incredibly grateful for the help I received from front desk rep Lucero Munoz. Her support was timely, professional, and made a significant difference. After I was misinformed by another rep Lucero went to great measures to ensure I was assisted and because of her I will be returning to LaSante. Thanks again for turning a negative experience to a positive one

Negative experience: Disgusting and terrible service! My child will not return here. Lila Bleich whom I spoke with today fri 9/27/2024 at 1:05pm was late contacting me for my phone appointment. I don't appreciate her contacting me late and not being helpful with getting my sons school forms filled out and emailed to me as mentioned. I have been calling since Wednesday and since I have been calling, I was told they will send it that actual day, but I have never received it and never received a call about it either. These are not real doctors mind you they are unprofessional nurses! The only doctor I did like was doctor joseph who is on leave. They hire incompetent people who answer the phone like we are friends, and some are very very rude and dismissive.

Negative experience: I came here a few months ago for rashes I was getting on my skin. They put me with Dr. Maria Klimento. She was very sweet but I don’t think she took the time to really look at my rashes and give me a real diagnosis. She just told me it’s most likely from stress and gave me a steroid shot. Couple weeks later the marks were spreading on my body so I came in for a skin diagnostic. Again,, when I seen her she again ignored my concerns with my skin and gave me another steroid shot like that was going to help. When I realize I wasn’t getting any real help and my rashes weren’t going away I went to another doctor office, where they did a skin diagnostic on me and sent it to the lab because they were not too sure on what was causing the rash. (As a real doctor who actually helps someone would do). Coming to find out my rashes was caused by me having LUPUS! something she could of known if she would of actually taking my appointment serious. She personally made me not want to give this office another try, because if you can play with someone health so non chalant imagine what else she is doing with her patience. SMH very disappointed

Fantastic experience: Anise is taking care of my children since 2018 she’s very concerned about my children health any time I call her she always has to tell me what to do very good Doctor and I have a great experience with her

GREAT doctor that is attentive and very knowledgeable and you feel a that she cares about your overall health and gives advice on how and what to improve. 10/10 for lasante staff

Negative experience: A year ago I was happy to bring my kids over at Lasante but now things have changed. LONG WAIT even if you have an appointment, they make you wait so long to read your lab results. And also make you wait so long for school form. A form that doesn’t even take 10 minutes to fill out. I really miss Dr Anise Joseph though when she’s around my daughter’s DOE FORM is never a problem.

Negative experience: They are thieves!!! I have been chasing them for 6 months to get a refund for a copay they have received twice. They keep coming up with excuses telling me that they are still investigating while they have recognized that they have indeed received the money twice. The people at the billing department are extremely incompetent and lie all the time about calling me back they never did once or even email me. Run away go somewhere else also the waiting time is RIDICULOUS!

Positive experience: Well I had an appointment with Dr. Valery. I saw all his colleagues except for Dr Valery. His assistant that took my vitals, and 2 doctor colleagues. I guess that's how it is now. They were able to answer my questions so I can't complain.

Negative experience: Went in for a cleaning, left very dissapointed, the dentist Farha Zibak is by far the worst dentist I've ever had. Not exaggerating, she spent no more than 1 minute 30 seconds "cleaning" my teeth, rushed it and during the “cleaning” asked me 3 times "do you still want to do the cleaning today?",She clearly didn't want to do her job, very rough and didn't care at all. When I got home I still saw plaque on my teeth. Absolutely wouldn't recommend her, any dentist is better than her.

Fantastic experience: Always love the health centers that accommodate everyone. Whether you have insurance or not they will take care of you. They carried variety of vaccines during a time that nowhere else did. Ofiong Okon was super nice and she answered all my questions with patience.

Fantastic experience: My dentist Zara S. Chaudhary, is amazing. She’s very smart, thorough, and gentle. Every appointment with her has been very comfortable and successful, whether it’s a dental procedure or my annual cleaning. She also has a great dental assistant named Emelynda, who is very skilled at taking X-rays. She’s very gentle and has a very productive and systematic way of taking X-rays quickly and effectively. She completed my entire mouth in no time. I had a wonderful appointment today- (August 27, 2024).

Fantastic experience: I came to a Dr’s appointment with my friend and I felt comfortable in the place. I had just moved from Queens and needed Drs In Brooklyn so I told myself I found the right place. The staff is very nice and engaging. The wait time to be called is not long. The staff always greet you with a smile and a compliment. I like the fact that Dr. Valery has these interns engaging with the patients, they are very open, answer all questions and very patient. They give a thorough report to Dr Valery which makes the visit smooth and seamless. Thank you for making the patients feel welcome and appreciated.
