Negative experience: There's been a steady decline in the service ever since the ownership changed, I've been a patient here for more than 30 years, after my last visit I'm looking for a new dentist office now, the staffing is erratic, hygienist turnover has increased, and doctors don't keep appointments like they did for years, good luck trying to reschedule, maybe set aside 10-15 minutes outta your day so you can hang on while they try to find a time slot in a couple of months, I'm tired of the cancelations and rescheduling, the office is getting run down, the change in ownership has not been good for staffing, employees seem unhappy, the online pre-appointment check in process is lengthy, and you'll now need a QR code or look up your name on a kiosk to get checked in, no more just walking up and sharing your name, nope, but they've got lots of new ways to make you jump through hoops and waste your time, wonder how many waivers I'll need to sign today..good luck, no thanks, I've been to my last appointment here, time for something better

Fantastic experience: Greatest doctors at Grove Dental. I had gum surgery with Dr. Shah and it was painless so all my worry was in vain. She is so kind and put my mind at ease. Her assistant, Kim, is also amazing. I felt like I was with friends I had known my whole life. Great work and actually I love going to the dentist. Now who says that.

Negative experience: Three times I asked the hygienist about a follow appointment for general teeth cleaning and the hygienist kept answering that I had a periodontal appointment on 10/11/2025. In the 15 years that I've been at Grove Dental, this has never happened to me. Also, how can you use a QR code if Grove Dental doesn't have an app? I'm starting to begin a search for a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Grove Dental for 40+ years and have always had a positive experience. This practice uses updated technology and always works to make sure I am comfortable with procedures.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Samar Islam is truly the most gentle & kindest dentist. My 16 year old daughter suffered from dental phobia for 8 years due to an inexperienced hygienist at another facility. He is the only dentist she felt calm & comfortable with & we’ve seen over 20 dentists the past few years. We can’t thank him enough for explaining everything in great detail, being patient & best of all he didn’t rush through the appt. We look forward to working with him in the future!

Fantastic experience: My appointment was on time and ALL of the staff were excellent. The Grove offices are very convenient with plenty of parking. I can’t think of a better situation for dental care. I highly recommend Grove dental.

Negative experience: I'll give one star for the dentists but run for your lives. The front desk will cancel your appointment on you and then tell you, you have to wait 6 months to get in for a reschedule. They have no problem sending you a dozen texts and emails so that you don't miss your appointment, it's a bit much. The missing 4 stars are for billing, and this is why you should never come here. The billing team is awful and cost me thousands of dollars out of my pocket this year. They make you email to get help, and they never reply, I finally got one after weeks and had to call and visit in person to get a reply too. They won't inform you that you've used up your insurance, and then recommend services that will drain your wallet. If you are a parent, and you handle the insurance for your family, they will clean out your spouse and kids if they go in without you and you aren't making them ask how much insurance is left. The billing team doesn't care enough, to keep customers educated on how much of their insurance they've used, before they continue to recommend services. They charge you on the spot before sending your transactions to insurance to check. They add on charges, and they lie about certain costs. It's just too much of a headache. Most of the billing team should be fired. It's not professional, and it's not a safe option for families. Again, great doctors, and it's a bummer that these amazing people are surrounded by billing employees who don't know what they are doing. It seems like they are more focused on keeping everyone's calendar full than doing the right thing by their customers. Type in "Grove Dental" in any local Facebook group, and you will see hundreds of horror stories like mine.

Fantastic experience: Debbie is almost always the hygienist for my daughters and she’s so good with them! She’s quick to pivot to make the girls feel comfortable and do everything she needs to make sure we are well informed. She offers guidance to improve dental care of small kids without any judgment of current practice at home. She’s awesome! Dr. Cabana is also such a friendly and helpful doctor. He makes my kids have a fun trip to the dentist! I recently had gum graft surgery with Dr. Atassi with Kim as his assistant. They were so informative and friendly. I felt like they did a very thorough job and I feel confident in continuing care with them

Fantastic experience: Today's visit= Excellent. You guys found me a spot on stand by and Cecelia and Dr Barnett did a thorough and gentle (Cecelia!) visit. Thanks to both. Last visit = Met all my expectations, Cecelia always does her work gently and effectively - topics related to teeth are explained in east to relate ways. Any objections are met fairly. Negative experience: A big shoutout to Grove Dental for scheduling my wisdom tooth surgery for the end of May and then proceeding to not notify me when the doctor who was supposed to perform the surgery left the practice. If I hadn't called ahead, I would've shown up expecting surgery only to receive nothing. Thank you for the waste of time. Fingers crossed we see some people with more than 2 functioning brain cells get hired here soon :]

Fantastic experience: For many years, I was afraid of the dentist. I started seeing Dr. islam about ten years ago, and he has been fabulous. I am no longer nervous at all, they are always personable, kind, and they always run on time. My entire family uses Grove dental, children were with Dr. cabana, but a few of them have grown out of pediatric dentistry, and now go to Dr. islam also. I highly recommend this practice

Positive experience: The woman at the front desk wasn’t overly friendly. I found out today I have a $300 credit on my account. Why was I never contacted and asked if I wanted a refund? So you’re sitting on my $300??? Bad business practice especially when YOU expect full payment at time of service.

They showed our toddler everything they might do before doing it, and went to the backup plan when she was too scared to let them use the tools. They answered our questions and gave us good advice to help care for her teeth moving forward.

Fantastic experience: Michelle Lancaster is the BEST pediatric dentist. Grove Dental is so lucky to have her. She’s patient and has all the tricks to help children have a relaxed dentist experience. You can tell she cares about each of her patients through how much she talks with the kids about their interests. Both my kids are always smiling and happy during their cleanings and procedures with her. She makes going to the dentist a breeze. She always explains each step along the way to the parent and child. We never feel rushed with her. My kids originally saw her at a different office and followed her over to Grove because of how great our experience was working with her. If you are looking for a caring, knowledgeable, experienced, fun, relaxing pediatric dentist for your kid/s, she’s the one! Michelle is a gem and your kids will have a wonderful dental experience with her.

Fantastic experience: Excellant care. Two crowns at the same with no discomfort. Dr. Bennett and his assistant, Lena, took special care with my TMJ situation.

Fantastic experience: Great service. I had dry sockets after a tooth extraction and oral surgery and Dr. Atassi has been super helpful in ensuring I’m getting back on my feet. Very professional but also super skilled. Same experience with all the other doctors there.

Negative experience: Very sad to this once wonderful dental office go completely downhill. I have been a long term Grove Dental patient for 12+ years, however, since they were purchased by a larger dental group it us clear profits come before patients, they have lost talented hygienists and dentists. They are constantly short staffed, I couldn't even see a dentist last time I was in. It is one thing for my experience to be bad, but last week my kids had a terrible experience. The pediatric hygienists are great, but my kids see a new dentist every time and this last time the dentist didn't even say my kids' names or introduce themselves. Dr. Kasey blew in and out in 30 seconds. What quality of care is that? Then they made a mistake and took xrays that weren't required and then wanted me to pay for them. The very rude woman at the peds checkout desk rudely demanded payment and then after 10 minutes of me explaining our insurance, she finally admitted that it was their error. But never apologized for the way I was treated. Then today, I drive 30 minutes to my appointment for them to say, "we don't have you assigned to anyone, we can try to fit you in but it could be a while or you can come back later today". Really?? I arranged my childcare, my work schedule, and work on our house around this appointment. If you knew you were short-staffed, why couldn't you call me to reschedule? Just super disappointing...Sadly, I think it's time to look for a new dental practice for my family.

Fantastic experience: Hygienist was exceptional with my 5 year old daughter! She explained everything she was going to do before she did it. Asked HER questions rather than looking at me to answer them for her, which I appreciate. My daughter had some discomfort with the X-ray holder so after a couple of tries the hygienist did the x-rays without the holder. My daughter had a great experience! I can’t remember the hygienist’s name but my daughter’s name is Brooke Tam and she had a cleaning at 1:30 on 3/24 at the downers grove location. Please let her know we loved her and her approach with my 5-year old!!

Fantastic experience: While I enjoy going to Grove Dental for my dental care, I was disappointed at my most recent visit when the staff confused me with another patient having the same first name. I was there for a crown and the other woman was there for a root canal. I was being screened for the wrong procedure for 10-15 minutes before the error was discovered. Please make sure you verify that you are receiving the correct care by verifying your full name and date of birth.

Fantastic experience: Great service and exceptional expertise. Oral surgeon, Dr Smith, completed the extraction in short order while maintaining good pain relief. Communication was very good. The support staff was similarly professional and did a good job. 5 Stars +

Fantastic experience: Dr Moss is great. He is fitting me for a crown, so more than just an ordinary check up and cleaning. He is very good and very thorough in doing the work and making sure I understand what he is doing. He makes sure I am comfortable during the procedure and because he does it well I never have any issues afterward.

Fantastic experience: I am a new patient, this was a first visit. I was warmly welcomed, seen on time for x-rays and cleaning. The hygienist was helpful, pleasant and competent. Dr. Bennett introduced himself, did an exam reviewing the x-rays as well as my teeth. All my questions were addressed and a plan for follow-up care with Dr. Bennett was scheduled. This visit was a very good experience.

Fantastic experience: I made it a new resolution to take better care of my teeth. I took the next step in that promise to myself to receive another crown today. The whole process was smooth and painless. And I mean painless! I didn’t react to the numbing. I’ve had some bad numbing experiences in the past but Dr. Islam and his techs were amazing once again. They made me feel confident and comfortable about my dental health and am pleased to say I would highly recommend the team at Grove Dental Downers Grove!

Negative experience: So I had scheduled an appointment for an evaluation because I was concerned about having an infected wisdom tooth. I had went to the location in Lombard and they had taken x-rays and told me that my one wisdom tooth would impact at some point. A year and a half later, it’s impacted and showing all the signs of infection such as swelling, massive pain, and my left lymph node was totally swollen. When I called them and made the appointment, I gave them my new insurance info (I’m on the exact same plan I was on last time, just it’s under my name now) they could not find my insurance, so they tell me to just come in and they will run it. When it comes time for my appointment and I arrive, I hand them my phone with my insurance information and they deny me stating that “they don’t take HMO”. I explained to them that I’m on the same plan that I had last time and that this exact same situation happened at Lombard when I went in and they say that they don’t accept my insurance. Turns out both locations were wrong and I explained that to the downers grove location and they kept insisting I was wrong. I have HMO health insurance and in that plan, I also have PPO dental, so they DO accept my insurance, they were just too lazy to actually run my insurance and find the information themselves continuously stating “we don’t take HMO and never have”. Turns out my when I got an appointment with a dentist that would actually run my insurance, that my wisdom tooth was infected which can be FATAL because a tooth infection if spread, can lead to septic shock! I was basically denied care or told to spend hundreds of dollars that I can not really afford to just waste way because I’m a student, that could have completely compromised my health all because they were too lazy to actually run my insurance. Same goes for the Lombard location. Stay away from grove dental.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Moss and his assistant did a great job. All the preparation before my procedure was done efficiently. Questions were asked and answered. I was able to look at pictures of my jawline. Temporary crown was completed and I will be back for the permanent. Dr. Moss spoke to both me and the assistant as he was completing the procedure.

Fantastic experience: Dr Bennett is the best! I really like that he explains every step of the way for fillings and more complicated procedures like a crown. He is gentle yet efficient and as pain-free and comfortable as possible!

Negative experience: I am concerned that while checking my insurance information the receptionist insisted that I give her my Social Security number. I have never had that experience before. Please confirm that this information was necessary and will be held confidentially.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Grove Dental for over 2 decades. They have always been professional and knowledgeable. I appreciate their facilities are immaculately maintained with high quality equipment and a high standard of care. You get what you pay for, and of course it ain't getting any cheaper, but I always say buy it nice or buy it twice. The only slightly off-putting thing I could say would be that sometimes they push expensive services that you don't necessarily **NEED**. I get some of that is preventative, and they do offer reasonable financing options for bigger things like a root canal. It can get a little overwhelming, especially if you're an average millennial just trying to make ends meet in 2025. But I've always recommended Grove Dental to friends and family, and will likely continue to do so!

They listen to your fears / touchy spots and work incredibly gently to ensure the least amount of discomfort. 10/10 experience everytime I go (been going here for 5+ yrs).

Fantastic experience: AMAZING!! They got us in as an emergency. They were great. A stressful painful situation was made as good as it could be considering the circumstances and what had to be fixed. Both the dr and assistant were wonderful!! We are back again for more work Tuesday.

Fantastic experience: I've been having pain in my back tooth for several weeks. My regular dentist was not able to get me in so I went to Grove in Downers Grove. I was so grateful to be able to get a same day appointment. Dr. Bennett and his assistant Norma were so kind. They did a thorough examination and referred me to a specialist. When I had some follow up questions, Dr. Bennett himself called me back to discuss! I was expecting an office person to relay the message, so it was a pleasant surprise. Even though they knew I have an established dentist, I felt like I was treated as any of their own patients. He even called my dentist to update her on my condition. I'd highly recommend this facility.

Negative experience: I was in need of amoxicillin and they were incompetent as far as sending my prescription. I still never received my prescription 2 weeks later! They were fast in taking my money though. I cannot recommend sorry!

Negative experience: I had a very poor experience here and would not recommend. I scheduled a cleaning as a new patient. Nothing was stated to me in terms of what they needed from me prior to my appointment, such as x-rays. When I arrived, the hygienist said we needed to do x-rays in order for her to do a cleaning. I asked if that was covered by insurance and she said it’s usually covered every 3 to 5 years. I went to check old claims on my phone to see when my last X-rays occurred. At the same time, the hygienist went to the front desk to see if they could find anything in my insurance. The Internet was very spotty so I was having a hard time getting information to load on my phone. After finding out, it was about 15 minutes into my appointment. The hygienist said she will do x-rays now, but you’ll have to come back for a cleaning because she wouldn’t have time. I was very confused why enough time was not allotted for my appointment. She said that x-rays are necessary before a cleaning is done but none of this information was communicated to me and it clearly stated that my appointment was for a cleaning. I went to the front desk to ask for clarification and and they explained the need for x-rays since they don’t have access to my other dentist, which is totally understandable but my issue was that none of this was communicated to me. I would have gladly searched for that information ahead of time if I had been told. The ladies at the desk seemed willing to help me, but also annoyed that I was asking about it. One of the ladies at the desk asked if I wanted someone to clean my teeth without the x-rays (which was the opposite of what the hygienist said), but the poor communication left me with a bad feeling so I declined. On my way out one of the ladies very sarcastically and loudly told me to have a great day. I will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Angel was fantastic! My son was pretty nervous getting a procedure done and she did such a great job explaining everything to him, and ensuring he felt comfortable and relaxed! He even gave them several thumbs up!

Fantastic experience: I was ready to leave Grove Dental after a terrible experience with my cleaning 6 months ago. Thought I would give them another try since I've been there for 20 yrs. and I'm so grateful I did! I met Lori my hygienist who literally gave me the best cleaning I've ever had and pair her with Dr. "K" and I'm back to being happy with Grove Dental again. Lori is a professional, she did a super thorough job. See you guys in 6 months!

Fantastic experience: As a new patient, I found every aspect was superior! Reception team welcoming, attentive and prepared. Hygienist Bernadette kind, thorough and encouraging. She explained Grove Dental process and procedures. Dr. Moss friendly and offered a plan of care in clear terms, listened as I offered concerns, questions. Grove is a large office, and Bernadette walked me to Kendra, another friendly, organized professional who was ready with a cost of care and dental plan benefit. Positive experience: I recently had to have periodontal/gum grafting surgery, and I have been very pleased with the treatment that I received, , both at the time of the surgery, and with the follow up. This group had a prior periodontist who left unexpectedly, at least in terms of patients who were not notified of his departure (and I was one of them, after having been his patient for at least 15 years). I was skeptical about the replacement, but have been very happy to date. It is very hard to get appointments with this group, and that is quite frustrating, particularly given the size of the group. Nevertheless, at least for the time being, I intend to stick with this dental practice

Fantastic experience: Have been seeing Dr Moss for years! Excellent dentist, very thorough and doesn’t recommend any procedures or treatments than I need. Very kind and considers senior budget. Also provides estimate of charges before routine visit!

Fantastic experience: Needed to get a filling and the dentist and staff were very accommodating. They were on time and able to explain everything about the procedure. It’s also very useful to show us exactly what is the issue is looking at the X-rays together so we know nothing is being made up.

Fantastic experience: Took my 4 year old for his third attempted teeth cleaning on Saturday and it was a complete success. Each visit he's gotten a bit more comfortable, and it was third times the charm. Angel was his hygienist and she was nothing short of amazing. She was patient, took her time, showed him a book of what to expect for each step and was able to do a full cleaning. Not a single tear - he left with a smile on his face. I couldn't have asked for the appointment to go better. I scheduled his next visit with Angel - she was great, and I can't say enough good things about her.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Grove Dental for over 30 years, this I believe says a lot. I have never been disappointed with any of doctors and have aged out a few as they retired. Keep up good work.

Negative experience: Overall experience for my daughter with fillings was fine but she’s 16 and was at appointment solo. The receptionist required her to stay after a two hour appointment for her dad to show up to pay for service. She was exhausted and emotional, again, two hour appointment, and forced to stay another 20-30 minutes until charges were covered. Both of my daughters have been with Grove Dental since first teeth cleaning as toddlers and we have never been delinquent on a bill. It’s completely disappointing to have my 16 year old daughter treated this way. I happened to be there at start of appointment and indicated to the staff that I was unable to stay, there was no comment at that time around payment. DISGUSTED AND DISAPPOINTED AT SUCH LACK OF CARING.
