Negative experience: I was told by the staff at Young Family Dental that I was developing periodontitis. This surprised me, as I am extremely careful about my oral hygiene. They told me I’d need to come back another and do a deep cleaning, rather than get my normal cleaning at that time. I went to another dentist (with far more experience and more clients) for a second opinion. They told me my gums were still very healthy and that I had either a) been lied to OR b) had been told incorrect information due to incompetence. Neither of those is great. Whether they’re lying or just don’t know what they’re talking about, Young Family Dental seems to be making false claims to its client base. After this experience, I called their office to ask for a refund on unused cleanings (we are on their office plan because we don’t have dental insurance). We had two unused visits left. They told me that if we were to cancel our plan with them that we would actually owe them MORE money. So not only would they not refund the remainder of our unused plan, they would charge us extra for cancelling. All of this after I had been given false information about the health of my gums. I would recommend avoiding this place.

Fantastic experience: Today I seen Dr. Gervasi and Wow I was so impressed! He made me feel so comfortable and his assistant Tia too! She really knew what she was doing! They worked very well together and did a job well done! Did I mention they do a wide variety of dental work at young fanily and are Medicaid friendly. Negative experience: I got there 15 minutes before my appointment and waited in the waiting room for over an hour and a half and didn't get seen until I went up and expressed my frustration to the staff

Negative experience: I never write reviews, but I’m hoping I can offer some insight on this place. I would fully avoid this dental practice if you’re looking for any sort of friendly, honest, and professional experience. I went here two times for cleanings. Both times, my appointment genuinely took three times longer than it should have, because my hygienist kept leaving the room or completely stopping work to tell me long stories (I don’t mind chatting, but this was an excessive amount of time to stop work). Between my first and second appointment, I suddenly went from zero to seven cavities, which felt so off to me. I’m grateful I got a second opinion at another practice, because they confirmed I didn’t actually need any fillings. Young Family Dental was nothing but a total money grab. The receptionists and actual dentist were not personable either. The receptionists answered questions in a condescending tone, and the dentist never even greeted or addressed me directly. Finally, they took some X rays which I later had sent over to another practice for a second opinion. The images they sent were completely unusable. They were so grainy and blurry, which is incredibly disappointing if your insurance only covers limited x rays a year. Definitely don’t waste your time at a dishonest place like this!

Negative experience: I would give this place five stars if it weren't for my interactions with their office manager, Alma N. I had to call them frequently due to a lot of back and forth with my insurance, and whenever I would speak with her she would constantly interrupt me, she was so belittling, she was so rude and told me to find another dentist if I didn't like the way I was being treated once I told her how her interactions with me were making me feel, and she made me feel terrified and I did my best to avoid contacting young family dental for fear that she would pick up the phone. She tried making decisions about my medical care for me which was a huge red flag. In the new patient forms I told them about a certain disability that I have that hinders my communication skills, and I feel that it was intentionally exploited by Alma N to try and get me to stop going there because she didn't like me for some reason. I wish I understood why I was treated this way, but I have no idea. I don't know what I did wrong to deserve it. I recorded several of our conversations and can prove all of this if anyone wants to listen, reach out to me.

Fantastic experience: Tia was AWESOME—she was so patient and great at making sure I was comfortable during my root canal and extraction. I was crazy impressed with how freaking fast and easy my extraction went. I’ve had extractions before and it never has been this easy/fast or un-traumatizing (not a word, but holy Hannah—he’s got a gift). Dr. G made the entire visit as smooth and pain-free as possible. I can’t say enough how impressed I was with Tia and Dr. G.

Negative experience: When I first went to Young Family Dental for an emergency procedure for my 6 year old son. I was so impressed with their service. Dr. Joshua Smith was amazing. Recently, two of my teens saw Dr. John Gervasi. I had brought up a procedure that I was told that they could do. He became so angry and argumentative and spoke as if I did not know what I was talking about. I explained that the conversation was through texting and he smugly told me that he could look up the text messages. So him and an assistant went to a computer to look this up. The assistant came over and was very apologetic and said that the person who texted me gave me wrong information but apologized for how I was treated. I was with younger children while my teen was with Dr. Gervasi. After the appointment she was upset. She said that the dentist was bad mouthing me to her and an assistant! She said that she was fighting back tears as she heard him talking. She also said that he was the same dentist she saw the year before, when my husband took them. She said that he was very rough with her jaw and mouth. She begged me to never take her back to Young Family Dentist.

Negative experience: I signed up for the family plan, which included a free dental cleaning, believing I was investing in my family’s well-being. But from the beginning, it was a mess. Scheduling an appointment was nearly impossible: they kept rescheduling me, and whenever I finally got a date, they would call shortly before to cancel or change it again. After so much waiting and frustration, they finally kept the appointment… but that’s when things got worse. They told me I needed a “deep cleaning” that wasn’t included, and that it would cost around $100. But when I showed up, they wanted to charge me over $1,000 for a procedure that should have been free under the plan I had already paid for. I felt completely misled. What they promised was not delivered, and instead of feeling taken care of, I felt trapped in a system that was confusing, dishonest, and fraudulent. I would not recommend this place to anyone who values their time, money, or health.

Negative experience: Went to young family dental today for my first appointment. I was 10 minutes early. I had to sit in the waiting room for 45 minutes. I finally said this is taking too long.

Fantastic experience: Even though Dr. John Gervasi was not my usual dentist, he examined my teeth and quickly concluded which tooth was giving me discomfort and scheduled me for a root canal. I woke up the next morning in great pain and with a very swollen jaw. He performed an emergency root canal that day, which was a Friday so that I wouldn't go into the weekend facing days of throbbing pain. He and assistant Kaneasha were kind and quick to ensure I was as comfortable as you can be in the middle of a root canal. They were both treating multiple patients (at least two emergencies), but did not make me feel like I was a burden or asking too much. Very grateful and would recommend!

Negative experience: Honestly, this place was kind of a rip-off. I went in for their new patient special since I don't have dental insurance, which included x-rays, a cleaning, and an exam. The hygienist told me that I had some gingivitis (which I've never been told by other dentists before), but she didn't tell me why I might have it or what I could do to fix it. Then the dentist came in, looked in my mouth for about 30 seconds, and said that everything looked great. I asked about the cleaning that was supposed to be included and the hygienist said that because I had gingivitis, I didn't qualify for the cleaning with the special. If I wanted a more in-depth cleaning, I'd have to pay over $200 more. I've never had a cavity or any other dental work, and I really just wanted the cleaning for maintenance. It kind of felt like they were making up issues to make me pay more. So I paid $60 for x-rays and an exam, which both showed no issues, and then didn't get a cleaning. I will not be going back. Kind of a sucky deal when they're trying to get more patients... Update: I went to a different dentist a few weeks later and they said everything in my mouth looked great and they did a regular cleaning with no issues. I really felt scammed by Young's!

Negative experience: My son got a cavity filled there. He struggles getting all his teeth when he brushes. He’s a kid. The dr made him so uncomfortable with the way she was talking to him. He was already nervous going in. She made him feel stupid. She kept saying “you’re killing me kid” “this is awful, you’re killing me” to the point I looked straight at her with this look. She stopped saying that but she kept making him uncomfortable. I will NEVER take any of kids to a place that treats the children that way! Yes, he needs to work on brushing his teeth, but there are MANY other ways to talk to a kid about it then making them stupid and small

Fantastic experience: This is a must read! I have in the past experienced not so good times with previous dentist. Today I came in very nervous, shaking, scared that I would possibly have another bad experience. The staff at Young family dental is amazing. They spoke to me professionally, calmly, and with respect knowing I was scared. When you have staff who cares about their patience, it truly shows. I highly recommend this business. Fantastic experience: I decided to change dentists because my old one did not seem to care anymore or try to genuinely help me when I needed it most. I chose Young Family Dental—BEST DECISION EVER!! Dr. G was so nice, so caring, so knowledgeable and supportive. He and Jared took the time I needed to ask all my questions and address all my concerns without rushing me. Negative experience: Do not go here. When they removed my wisdom teeth, they said they couldnt use anethstesia, but they could numb it, so we did and later, i had to go the hospital due to due to me accidentally swallowing too much blood, as they didnt properly do the procedure. Another thing is that they had a policy that if the customer rates the place 5 stars, they would get a free water bottle, i know because i did it a while ago, and i have recently removed my review.

Negative experience: This dentist office feels like a factory. It is cold and unfeeling. My wife was seen the dental assistant that was helping was incompetent and couldn't do the most basic tasks. The Dr. was heavy handed with the drill and said I had a large cavity which was not true. She has seen a dentist every 4 months for the last 16 months. The filling is still rough and is rubbing on her tooth the dental assistant and Dr. did nothing about it. They did nothing to comfort her. The dental assistant was extremely rough.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic and so understanding. I was so embarrassed because I have let my teeth get so bad. Made me feel so much better. They were great. I just love all of them. They are starting where I would prefer and holding out on the ones that have to be taken out so I won’t be without them so long before I get my partials. I would tell anyone that asked that this place is the greatest.

Negative experience: Don’t waste your time or money here! I gave them a second chance after 10 plus years (using other dentist) and I regret it! I called and made an appointment for 2 CLEANINGS, X-ray and exam (told them I had tooth pain as well) They scheduled both my husband and I for an HOUR each without disclosing they wouldn’t do a cleaning just a few X-rays and pokes from a hygienist and after I learned they wouldn’t do a cleaning …I was confused especially for an hour long appointment! The dentist came in (didn’t even say hello) just started talking to the assistant I suppose making remarks then after a very short “exam” she said “let’s do this this and this but I’ll know better if she gets a cleaning”?!?! Ya duh! Anyway being told “oh ya we will schedule you for that” insurance has an issue AFTER was dishonest we should have been told that BEFORE we drove all that way. The worst part was they were putting me on the schedule for the most expensive thing needed done!?! (No cleaning? Anyway I felt like something was off both my husband and I wasted 3 hours in all. I was in confusion the whole time but thank goodness the assistant was kind and respectful trying to answer my questions (I forgot his name but he definitely deserves credit for being the ONLY one who has manners. ALL the front desk ladies were rude and treated us like we were dumb for asking questions. ALSO they were talking bad about people who they just got off the phone with! It was so unprofessional! The place was unclean, dark and very uncomfortable.

Fantastic experience: My sister who has special needs, along with dental anxiety, was taken care of by Dr. Gervasi and Aspen with unconditional compassion, support, and patience! They listened to her concerns and provided reassurance to confirm with her what they were going to do and what to expect. They were willing to give her breaks and were flexible with her needs. Negative experience: I was disappointed in the level of service at this dental office. To me, everything seemed below the standard I have experienced at other offices—the dark, dingy waiting room, the dentist’s manner was rough and less customer sensitive than any other I have had, and he wouldn’t acknowledge a crown that I couldn’t floss, and the technician was unpleasant as well. They had a high propensity to blame any problems on me. They also overcharged by about $700 dollars and I had to wait several months for a refund. I would steer clear of this organization!

Fantastic experience: We had a very positive experience at Young Family Dental. My son had his Wisdom teeth remove last week and Dr. Gervasi and Yasmin made sure we knew what to expect. Fantastic experience: 5 stars for Young family dental. My child had a terrible toothache and they got her right in, diagnosed that she needed a root canal, and they were able to perform it that day. Super grateful to Dr white for checking her out, Dr Grevasi for doing the root canal and Jared for doing all the other things. This was particularly monumental because this kid doesn’t usually get numb very well and was terrified to come. In the end she didn’t feel a thing and left all smiles.

Fantastic experience: I have been a YFD patient for close to 30 years. I miss Dr. Cerny, but I Love Dr. Gervasi & Tia & Eliza!! They Did a great job with my crown! Susan has always been my favorite Office Manager too! Wish I saw more of her. They definitely need her back in the Orem office.

Negative experience: Dr Parker was extremely rude and coming from someone who was just trying to get their teeth back to health he made me feel absolutely horrible. He made two comments that didn’t sit well, first one “well your teeth are so sensitive because you haven’t taken care of them.” I haven’t had dental insurance and if you know you know, dental work is very very expensive. The second comment he made was as I was telling him I was very anxious of needles he said “If you don’t like it this much take care of your teeth at home and you won’t be back.” I’ve spent years trying to keep my teeth up to par, I just found out I was born with a weak enamel and need a prescription toothpaste. Doesn’t help my mom growing up didn’t teach anything about dental hygiene. Anyways, while my mouth was numb he had made one more rude comment about my son that came with me because the office had mentioned to bring him and it’s not a problem at all. That was it, mouth numb and all I got up and told him I wasn’t gonna tolerate this anymore. Me and my son walked out, I was in tears and in disbelief.

Negative experience: This was a couple years ago but I hadn't had any cavities then I went to young family dental for a check up and they found cavities. Then they drilled to deep on one of my back teeth and I had to get a crown. Needless to say I haven't been back.
