Fantastic experience: The staff and Dentist, Dr Finney, were kind and sympathetic to my apprehension of a prior dental experience. The last dentist I went to dismissed my tooth complaint and pushed products on me. Dr Finney was not only knowledgeable about my particular toothache, she dealt with my issue quickly and didn’t try to sell me anything. She didn’t push any unnecessary treatments and was determined I didn’t leave without a resolution. THAT is what I want in a dentist! When she gave me a shot to numb my mouth, she was so gentle I hadn’t even realized she had already administered the shot!! Absolutely thrilled to have finally found a dental practice with amazing staff and Dr’s! 5 Stars!

Negative experience: Laura told my friend that if she didn’t have enough money to cover what needed to be done to her teeth, that she shouldn’t have came in for the appointment. My friend did not know what needed to be done before the appointment, or she wouldn’t have came in. The hygienists also numbed her before providing any information about pricing.At the very least, she could’ve offered a payment plan or rescheduled for a date that would’ve worked for her. This is very unprofessional and disrespectful. Do not go here.

Fantastic experience: The hygienist (Eric’s) and dentist (Dr Do) who attended me were thorough and gentle. They patiently answered and explained all my questions. I’ve been going to this practice for 33 years and have always gotten excellent treatment. They are a little pricier than some but it’s worth it for the peace of mind that any treatment will be done properly. I had a root canal done while wintering in Florida. At my next visit to Dental Excellence they discovered that an infection had developed at the base of the canal. I had to go to an Endontist to have it redone and the infected part of the root cut out. I am confident this would not have happened if I had waited till returning to Missouri and had Dr Do do the root canal. I don’t hesitate to give Independence Dental Excellence my highest recommendation.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sharkey and his team are the best in the KC Metro! I've tried out the highest ranked dental offices throughout the area, and I don't hesitate to say this dentist and his office maintain the very top spot. Dr. Sharkey is detailed and attentive to the changes in my dental health, but never pushy, and his work on my teeth is always top notch. The receptionists and admin staff are so kind and have been exceedingly accommodating with my scheduling needs. I moved from the Blue Springs area to Lenexa and willingly make the trip back for the excellent care I receive there. I highly recommend Dr. Sharkey and his team at Dental Excellence.

Fantastic experience: Jennifer did a very thorough exam and cleaning. She also took a complete set of high resolution X-Ray's to document the current condition of my teeth. Dr. Finney examined my teeth and mouth and we discussed a long term plan for keeping my teeth healthy and strong.

Fantastic experience: I just started going here but went for a deep cleaning. Erin is my hygienist and she is beyond amazing. She's so patient and gentle. I'm terrified of needles and is able to keep me calm and does them in a way that I didn't even know I had gotten the shots. It's a 40 min drive for me but I will gladly make that drive to see her. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I had my 1st appointment with this office over a crown falling off 1-13-25. (No this dentist office did not do the work) I was switching over to them. To sum up a long story they had to submit everything to insurance etc (which should of only took two moths). I ended up with two infection in my tooth which they would not give me Antibiotics because they had to see me but appointment was over a week out. So i had to do telehealth for medication. I have called multiple times. My last phone call was 5-16-25 and today date is 5-23-25 and yet no phone call. I ended up going to a different dentist (funny how they got me in the same day because of the pain in that tooth) but i had to have that tooth removed because of the wait this office had me do. The 1 star is only because the staff seemed nice just dropped the ball to many times and I had to do a removal

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been relying on Dr. Wylie and Amy, his dental hygienist, for several years. We have been treated like family since our first appointments. They make a great team; professional, courteous, kind, caring and genuine. From our perspective, their respective skills are unmatched. My experience…for decades, the mere thought of a “dentist appointment” instantly conjured-up feelings of fear, anxiety and dread. While some procedure-related pain is unavoidable in many cases, this Dental Excellence team is amazing at mitigating patient discomfort. We’re both grateful for the professional staff at DE.

I picked up a Delta Dental policy secondary just so I could would not have to go elsewhere to have reasonable coverage.

Even if you don’t have insurance or they are out of network, they will work with you and it will still be worth every dollar spent.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Amit Kumar is an excellent professional. I had two crowns next to each other installed with minimal discomfort. Last month I was traveling and I had to go for one crown. It was very painful for one week. I also like his assessment about my teeth health.

Fantastic experience: UPDATED REVIEW: Great staff in the front office. Erin is a fantastic hygienist. Dr. LaBarca is very kind and quickly came up with a plan to proceed. I've never had billing issues. The office is up to date, very clean and they use the latest equipment & technology. I'm very impressed with the ability to get a crown completed in approximately 2hrs. Mutiple appointments and a temporary crown is NOT needed! Highly recommend this office for your dental needs.

A previous dentist told me I had a cavity and turns out they were trying to get money out of me because there were no cavities! Dental Excellence didn’t try to squeeze money out of me, they just told me the truth.

Dr. Finney was amazing. She explained things well and was even familiar with the dental insurance!! This will be my new “home” for my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: Dental Excellence always goes above and beyond making me feel like I am their number one customer. Staff is always positive and takes the time needed to clean my teeth . Dr. Matt Wiley is great, very personable, and always takes his time.

Negative experience: Dr. Do's bedside manner is horrible! He and his team have not shown any compassion for my daughter as a young, nervous patient. They do not tell her what they are doing as they are working on her, which could help ease the anxiety. Today they prepped her for a crown (her first) after they exposed the root they informed that she would need a root canal. They did tell her that might be a possibility but they did NOT tell her they could not complete it there. They didn't even place a temporary and then proceeded to give her a referral to an Endodontist that wasn't even in her network. She is 19! This is the first time she has ever had a crown, a fact they are very aware of. Why wouldn't you want to foster a better experience for your fearful patient? Way to make a nervous patient even more afraid of seeking treatment they need. I don't know how they can, in good conscience call this "care". VERY disappointing!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was professional and kind. My hygienist was careful not to hurt me when she put the xray apparatus in my mouth and cleaned my teeth very well. Dr Wiley was sensitive to my challenges and carefully discussed what he could do for me.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Dental Excellence for aprox 3 years..I am now 77yrs old and when I went to DE my teeth were in rough shape due to long time of negligence and just did not like going to the dentist due to not so nice past experiences....well, the DE folks are so awesome, compassionate and professional in taking me on, I actually now look forward to going...my teeth are in good shape and my hygienist Diane keeps me on track...my dentist, Dr. Do is awesome..he took me on with my "fears and tear" ..worked hard in getting my mouth,/teeth back into shape so basically now I've only need regular scheduled cleanings..highly recommend these fine folks..bless them all..

Fantastic experience: I went to see Dr La Barca after being told by my dentist of the last 20 yrs, that repairs would cost me thousands of dollars. I was referred to Dr La Barca by a family member who had been seeing him for years. He was able to replace a crown and bridge that my previous dentist said could not be salvaged. I have my smile back and it was the greatest dental experience I believe I've ever had. I have found my new dentist and won't go anywhere else again.
