The difference is night and day from our old dental office. We would highly recommend anyone who is unhappy with their current dentist to come see for themselves just how pleasant a visit to your dentist can be.

Negative experience: I do not recommend this place. I visited this dentist while in McAllen. My hometown dentist in Spring told me that my tooth, that was worked on by LFD, was shattered. My dentist said to call LFD and ask them to fix the shattered tooth. I called LFD and they said they would not fix the shattered tooth unless I once again paid them full price to fix it. I spoke to their office manager- I explained everything my dentist told me- LFD said the consultation would be $120 and the shattered tooth would be more than $800. This place only cares about money. Not the patient.

Negative experience: The ladies in the front and the girl that prepped me and took my X-rays were amazing. However I DONT recommend this facility I absolutely feel robbed. They set me up for x rays and a cleaning. Once we did the x rays they refused to do the cleaning unless I paid them $2800 for a few fillings. Mind you this was never mentioned when setting up the appointment. The appointment was for a cleaning and x rays. They charged me $200 something for the appointment when over the phone they said it was $99 for a new patient. Once I mentioned that the lady that charges said oh yeah you just have to mention that to us. Like what??? The lady that charges also has an attitude and not accommodating at all! Wasted my time and money. Definitely look else where.

Negative experience: Sooner or later ill edit this again and explain my horrible experience with this dr and his office but iv been drained out of $23,000+ and busy working to pay that while devastated by the final results with my smile. Trust me when i say go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I had a GREAT massage while listening to some of my favorite music. Almost fell asleep in the chair…. Did I mention I was having a root canal done at the same time? Needless to say it was virtually painless! Tiny bit of soreness in my jaw afterward (from having my mouth open so wide) but nothing a couple of Tylenol couldn’t handle. So so Blessed to have finally taken the plunge to save my tooth! I am reviewing today, 24 hours later. Still no discomfort and no Tylenol today.

Negative experience: I wanna start by saying I loved my hygienist, she was great and personable. I am laughing as I write this because I dodged a BIG bullet w these people. Literally just got my whole mouth fixed( same treatment plan minus the bs services they recommend) with professional whitening for $7000, these people are SCAMMERS you can tell just by talking to them. They wanted to charge me $23,000. This place is predatory, they to take you into a finance office to discuss like as if you're purchasing a vehicle. Took me like a solid 20 minutes just to get them to let me out of the office lmao! I was just saying anything I could to get tf outta there. That was a big red flag for me as well as so many other things lol! Oh and they’re gonna recommend treatments you don’t even need. They try to say the other dentist are cheaper because they don’t do a thorough exam… not true, hate to break the news but your big fancy machines don’t mean anything. Avoid at all costs, shouldn’t cost people the same price as a Toyota Camry to fix their mouths, DO BETTER & quit being greedy!

Growing up i was always self conscious about my smile and being a very outgoing guy it was difficult to fully express my smile. But he promised me that he was going to change my life forever. The entire staff was very polite and genuine, I felt so comfortable with the enviorment. Within the first month I couldn't believe that transformation, my smile never looked straighter it brought me to tears. I trusted Dr. Alvarado to make me my dream come true and he didn't disappoint. I decided to cancel my contract after meeting the dentist/staff realizing the costs were FAR beyond reasonable especially for the RGV. Despite multiple attempts, I have yet to receive a call back from the manager (CATHY). Very disappointing and disgraceful experience—I would not recommend this dentistry to anyone looking for fair pricing and responsive service. I will definitely not recommend this establishment to other federal officers or my military colleagues. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB and will have this place looked at further for potential insurance fraud.

Negative experience: Am 75 years old an was taken advantage of. Charged me $17,000.00 for was to be endless procedures recommended by the owner Dr. Jeffry Alvarado. He starts off pointing at your mouth and before you know it, your bill is $17,000.00.Trusteded doctors before this. To make story short. BEWARE, YOU WILL LOVE THE PLACE, HAVE YOUR LOANS AT 30% RATE AND GIVES A 5 STAR REVIEW. OH, THEY HAVE YOU SIGN AN EXCELLENCE REVIEW EVERY TIME YOU GO AND SEND IT TO THE BBB. That's why they have an A+ rating. WHAT A JOKE. WARNING YOU.

Negative experience: As a mom, time is precious—and today, The Lakes Family Dental in Edinburg showed me exactly why they have such terrible reviews. If you’re considering this office, please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I had been a loyal patient for three years, paying into their $20/month membership plan, which supposedly covered two cleanings per year, X-rays, and other basic services. However, every visit felt more like a sales pitch than a dental appointment. They constantly pushed outrageously expensive treatments, insisting I needed multiple fillings, preventative coatings, and even Invisalign—despite my history of relatively healthy teeth. The first year, I caved and got two fillings, which cost over $1,000. The next year, I was pregnant and chose to hold off on additional procedures, yet they still pressured me to proceed with fillings despite the risks involved. Fast forward to today—seven months postpartum, finally carving out time for a much-needed cleaning—and after keeping me there for two hours, they refused to provide the cleaning simply because I declined to move forward with their recommended treatments (of almost $10,000 dollars when I only wanted a cleaning that was already paid for). Any mom knows how difficult it is to find time for herself, let alone coordinate childcare, adjust schedules, and sometimes even pay for a babysitter—only to be treated like this. After years of paying them, they refused me basic care because I wouldn’t agree to their payment plan. To make matters worse, when I asked to cancel my membership and get my records, suddenly no one was available to help. I had to go and find someone myself that would be able to cancel my plan. And it literally took 30 seconds. As for my dental records, they directed me to an app that took forever to download, then once I installed it they proceed to tell me it had been down for days, then they refused to email my records, and simply told me to “keep checking.” To say I’m upset is an understatement. This office prioritizes sales over patient care, and their treatment of loyal patients—especially busy moms—is disgraceful. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews. The warning signs are all there. This place is beyond sketchy.

Negative experience: I received an emergency crown from them in September 2023 with insurance, made all copays, and considered matters settled. Today, 23 January 2025, they call me out of the blue. According to them, I owe them approximately $350 since insurance did not pay as much as they expected. They stated that they had tried to contact me for this sum before and when challenged and told I could look at my phone record, they admitted it was the first time they reached out to me. They then immediately resorted to threatening to sue me for this paltry sum. Seriously, before providing me with documentation or an invoice, they had the gall to interrupt me repeatedly on the phone and threaten small claims court. So how these jokers operate: 1. Don't ask for anything for 18 months. 2. Call you out of the blue. 3. Provide no documentation before pressing demands. 4. Threaten you with court over paltry sums before they've even given you documentation. 5. Interrupt you repeatedly when you try to find out information. Skip them. This is how they do business.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Alvarado was very transparent with the treatment plan & Dr. Alkour did all four of my wisdom teeth extractions. Serena, the treatment coordinator was very friendly as well as the assistants. However, the front staff is very pushy about leaving a review & proceeding with treatment. I had my extractions done 2 days before I had an appointment for my cleaning & fillings done. I expressed I was comfortable proceeding with just the fillings since the extraction site was very tender and I was still in a lot of pain. Three people, including the hygienist & Dr. tried to talk me into proceeding with both treatments. Being in pain already, I got overwhelmed and asked to reschedule everything. To which the assistant said it would a month until I would get my cleaning & fills done. I was okay with it, until I asked the receptionist and she told me they absolutely do have sooner appointments. The dishonesty on something so simple doesn’t sit right with me. But aside from that, I have nothing bad to say about the patient care at all.
