The Stein Dental Group

Negative experience: Stein Dental has a pattern of billing and transparency problems. Before my implant even began, I was double charged over $1,000 (eventually removed) on my account. My husband left the practice for the same reason - constant overcharging and no clear communication. Later, I only needed an implant because the $3,000 crown they placed failed. They quoted me in the ballpark of $6,000 and a 4 month heal time to replacement, but months of delays followed, with repeated cancellations and scheduling mistakes. I’m now 7 months from my procedure this afternoon and I receive a text at 3pm (appointment is at 5:15) just 2 hours before my appointment, I was told the cost would be more with no explanation. They seemed like they wanted me to agree to pay more prior to me finally getting my work done. I demanded in writing, why the agreed upon amount in February has changed now in August. I was told that the front desk was just “the messenger”. Patients deserve clear quotes and transparency, not duplicate charges, failed dental work, and surprise bills.

Positive experience: I was at the Stein dental group for an hour and 45 minutes and all that happened was I got my teeth cleaned. The dentist reviewed my x-rays, but had no specific recommendations other than to wait for a consult with the surgeon. I waited an additional hour for the surgeon who never showed up although I did get to talk to his nurse. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.

Fantastic experience: If you have a dental phobia (and even if you don't), THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! Dr. Daniels was able to squeeze me in same day for a filling, she was kind and answered every question and took her time to get the job done right and pain-free. I could not have asked for a better visit!! Her assistant Brie was INCREDIBLE, held my hand the whole time, walked me through everything and made sure i was comfortable the entire time. Seriously, these two are the absolute best. I also saw Dr. Stein and his assistant Tiffany for basic cleaning/check up, and they are super great as well!!! Negative experience: I feel a little bad leaving such a low rating because the clinic was able to get my wife in for a same-day emergency appointment and the front desk staff (we mostly dealt with April) were kind and friendly. But the dentist is the face of the practice and Wechsler deserves the single star. My wife was experiencing severe pain in a tooth that had previously undergone a root canal. She saw her own dentist in the morning and was told that based on x-rays she had an infection that would likely require a repeat procedure. After 2 minutes in the room with Wechsler she came out and told me that she needed additional imaging but that she likely would not be getting any sort of procedure that day. Confused, I assumed there had maybe been a miscommunication so I approached Wechsler to clarify the plan. Before I could even finish my question he cut me off and said "I don't answer questions without all the information" and walked away. I'm a physician. I see hundreds of patients and family members every week in the ER and I've never once said -- or even thought of saying -- "I don't answer questions." Such unprovoked unprofessionalism is incomprehensible to me. He made what was already a terrible experience for my wife even worse and made the entire clinic look bad by association. Not to mention that with one sentence he cost the practice thousands of dollars in business because we ended up going elsewhere for my wife's extraction. Doesn't matter how good you are with teeth if you aren't any good with patients.

Fantastic experience: My hygienist Tiffany and Dr Daniels are so professional and kind! Tiffany explained everything clearly prior to my cleaning and xrays. Dr Daniels is so knowledgeable and took extra time to explain the best plan for my dental care. I didnt feel rushed and left there feeling so good! I highly recommend this practice. I not only lefts there with clean teeth, I left there feeling confident and with hugs!! You won’t get this care most places.

Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with my visit. I wish I knew about this group sooner. My previous dentist was a nightmare. Dr Daniel’s and her assistant are especially nice. The dental hygienist is very nice also. Some of the ladies at the front desk are very abrupt. And rude they speak very loudly and are inquiring about payments with people in the waiting area. Don’t they realized that some people are financially struggling?

Fantastic experience: Not what I was expecting for a dental office. When you walk into their office your greeted by a lovely receptionist and then you walk into a very inviting waiting area. It is very accommodating to children, complete with an arcade. The tech was engaging, made us forget we were getting our teeth cleaned. By the way, he did a great job. Both dentist (periodontist and dentist) were the best we have ever had experienced. Using layman terms they put my mind at rest in regards to our oral health and the aging process. Positive experience: I have been with the practice for a number of years & this week was scheduled for teeth cleaning. I forgot the name of the individual who performed the process, but It was thorough & i was pleased with the result. Thank you Dr. Stein.

Negative experience: ⭐ Rating: 1/5 Twenty years after having a root canal at this practice, I discovered a serious issue that could have been prevented with proper initial treatment. During a recent examination, my current orthodontist found an infection in my tooth caused by debris that wasn't properly cleaned out during the original procedure. The infection had created a pocket on the bone, which was shocking even to my experienced orthodontist. I had to undergo a complete root canal revision to finally address this problem discovered last year. While both the infection and bone damage will heal in time thanks to proper treatment, this situation was entirely preventable and caused unnecessary complications and dental work. What concerns me most is that this fundamental error in the initial root canal procedure - failing to thoroughly clean the root - goes against basic dental standards. My current orthodontist was visibly surprised by the poor quality of the original work. Pros: - None that justify the subsequent issues Cons: - Incomplete root canal procedure - Left debris in the tooth that caused infection - Created need for additional extensive dental work - Potential bone damage from long-term infection If you're considering this practice for a root canal or any other dental procedure, I strongly encourage you to: 1. Research multiple dental providers 2. Ask detailed questions about their root canal procedure 3. Get a second opinion if possible 4. Request to see before/after X-rays 5. Ensure all treatment steps are thoroughly explained While the infection is finally being resolved thanks to proper care from my new orthodontist, I feel compelled to share this experience so others can make informed decisions about their dental care. Long-term complications from inadequate dental work can have serious consequences for your oral health.

Fantastic experience: My family and I have been patients since Dr. Stein started his practice. He has always been a concerned and excellent practitioner. He and his staff are courteous and above all, VERY qualified in what they do. The convenience of having specialists in all aspects of dentistry in the same building is quite convenient. These specialists are also of the highest caliber. They will not quit until their work is perfect!! Although my daughter has grown and moved away, she still returns to the practice and will do so until she moves so far away, it makes no sense!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ll be the first one to admit that I don’t enjoy going to the dentist, but when I cracked my back moler I knew I had to go. Dr. Daniels and Jules really made my comfort their #1 priority. They made sure that I was fully numb, before performing the necessary procedure. It was by far one of my better experiences. Fantastic experience: This dental group took great care of me! First time. I was recommended to see Dr Wechsler for a root canal. He did it causing no pain—including very little discomfort with administering the novacaine. Plus my whole head didn’t end up numb like other dentists have done at other places. I found out I needed a crown and I got lucky and was able to be seen there right away for a crown. Dr Daniels and her assistant, Jules got right to work. Jules was really great. I was very pleased with their work. Also, I amazed with how accommodating they were when I had an issue that required them to go the extra mile to solve it even though the initial plan they had for me was reasonable. Don’t hesitate to use this dental group!! They do great work and they honestly care.

I speak from many years of experience with excellent dental doctors in both New York and Connecticut. The Stein Dental Group is managed by Dr. Stein himself, a practitioner for over 40 years, who is present at their offices every day to ensure a smooth and client-friendly experience. Very recently,, I went to the Stein Dental Group for oral surgery . I was treated by Dr.Jacob Allaeb and his Nurse Practitioner Joanne. They were methodical and efficient and attentive to me, keeping me informed throughout the surgical procedure. So, my humble advice is: Save the Time, Money, and Hassle of going to New York for dental work and visit the Stein Dental Group.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr Stein for seven years. I have met nearly every member of the team and had many different procedures from root canals to, most recently, my first dental implant. I always had a great experience and felt cared for by every hygienist and doctor. I was extremely nervous about undergoing the implant procedure but Dr Allaeb made my implant experience very smooth and painless. He is stern and authoritative, both qualities I look for in a surgeon. I definitely trust his expertise and will keep coming back if need be. Overall, I love The Stein Dental Group and trust it my whole family’s dental health including my young children.

Fantastic experience: I’ve gone to Stein Dental Group for About a decade, most recently for a wisdom tooth extraction. Regardless of how many questions I have or procedures I’ve needed (bridge work, cavities, tooth ache, etc.) Dr. Stein & his team still make me feel like I’m their only (most important) patient. For any type of dental care, I can’t more highly recommend Stein Dental Group!

Negative experience: This was my second visit which wasn’t much different from the first experience. For A person that has phobias of the dentist this is not the place to go. Not much interest/concern in me. They had no patience and rushed me through. There was a long time until my second appointment I received no callback no follow up. I went for the first time and that was it. More than likely won’t be going back. If you have any phobias/fear from past events this is not the place look for nothing extra or comforting.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed the 9 month tooth implant process on a front bottom tooth. It was an extremely difficult implant because of the location and small size of the tooth. Dr. Allaeb, the oral surgeon, did a great job with the extraction and implant. He didn’t rush the process in order for the implant to be successful. Dr. Daniel’s did a wonderful job completing the process with installing the crown, even when there were complications. Finally, I want to thank JoAnne for guiding me and supporting me through the process and continuing to check on me after each of the procedures. I highly recommend the Stein Dental Group.

Fantastic experience: Recently had an on-lay put in. Dr. Daniel’s, Dr Samrin and Julie the assistant did a really great job of making sure everything went smoothly. The cement used to seal the on-lay was being tricky with removing the excess but these each of these folks know the tricks to getting it done. It’s really hard to find a good dentist and really hard to trust people with your teeth - I won’t go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a new dentist in the area and was recommended to get a cleaning by my boyfriend. I was so happy and satisfied with the cleaning and Tiffany was amazing because of the gentle way she cleaned and inspected my mouth. I also met Dr. Stein and he was very nice. I will be back soon again to fix a cavity.

Fantastic experience: From the moment you walk into the dentist office you’re greeted by professional staff very polite. The dentist office is very clean A+. Dr stein is very professional attentive to his patients and he gives a lot of choices for your dental needs. I went for a bridge that needed to be glue back in place and he explained to me everything I needed to make a decision. He he good thing in this dental office it’s a one stop for every Derek needs. Definitely recommend Dr. Michael Stein . Part 2 of review first time good my wife went there for a crown came back crying to the night after the work following day temp came out she was in a lot of pain. Went there today and she was in miserable pain. I don’t know what happened here but we are now looking for another dentist. Seems like they’re losing their touch

Fantastic experience: Dr. Daniels is always very nice and has a lot of patience with me. The front staff is always nice. No complaints. I always refer my friends and family to the Stein Dental group.

Negative experience: When I checked out, I was told there was no charge. I then received a $143 bill in the mail. I don’t appreciate being lied to and all she did was look at my tooth. Also, they didn’t even have the decency to bill my insurance if they were going to go back on their promise. I have no patience for this blatant lack of integrity and they’ve lost me as a patient. ZERO STARS.

I was in compassionate and expert hands with hygienist Diferson, who heard my concerns about a history of bone loss and sensitivity, and let me know how he was going to approach the cleaning, which was my first in over a year. The cleaning was painless and thorough. My consultation with Dr. Stein was everything I hoped it would be; Dr. Stein was compassionate, honest, and transparent about the myriad issues present which require consultations with specialists so that we can explore the various options treatment options and work together to devise a game plan. My visit with Dr. Stein was unrushed and he took the time to review X-rays with me and convey how the practice can be flexible in how we approach scheduling of the treatment plan crossing into the next calendar year to align with insurance coverage. Also, no up-selling shenanigans at this practice.We wrapped-up our visit with clear next-steps and appointments scheduled with specialists. Dr. Stein’s far-ranging experience and expertise in his field inspire utmost confidence, and I appreciate his wonderful sense of humor! Fantastic experience: I’m a big baby when it comes to the dentist, always have been and probably always will be. I went on Saturday b/c I had an emergency since my jaw swelled up due to a gum injection. Today I had to get a tooth extracted since that’s what causes the injection. When I was getting my tooth extracted I was able to hold one of the nurses hand. Everyone who works there is so empathic. This will definitely be the place I go for all my future cleanings and anything I need. I’m happy with this place. They showed much love and empathy which is rare when it comes to dentists
