Follow up- this has been a year long process but this dentist was determined to get me comfortable in my denture. Just picked them up after a relining and they feel so much better

Fantastic experience: I love Dr Wong she is by far my favorite dentist of all time! She does an amazing job and I trust her completely. I have had a lot of dental work done at Familia Dental from cleanings to fillings and crowns. The crowns fit perfect and the color match is great. Dr Wong is caring, kind and genuinely wants to help her patients. The staff at the Decatur location are friendly, and very helpful. I have seen various employees going above and beyond to assist the needs of their patients. I am happy with all the services I’ve received here.

I’ll likely to loose three teeth and require two root canals due to this situation. I would like to point out that this shortage of dental services is a policy decision set by the Democrats in the Illinois legislature and not the fault of Familia Dental.

Negative experience: I need my teeth removed because I have receding gums n gum disease n all the dentistvwas worried about was filling my teeth n saying my insurance would my pay for 2 teeth beigning removed at a 100%. I need them all removed n my next appointment date is Feb. 9 th at 3:00 pm!! These teeth NEED OUT!!!! THEY HURT ALL THE TIME!! I WANT THEM OUT!!

Negative experience: Went in today (July 29, 2025) for an emergency visit due to one of the teeth in front is bothering me. I am having constant pain and having a hard time eating foods that are not just soft. They done X-rays and informed me that for the pain I’m having around my wisdom teeth area I would need an oral surgeon so they gave me a referral which was cool. Now let’s get back to the teeth in the front of my mouth. They told me that I have cavities in those teeth and we could either try filling them or just get them pulled. I opted to have them pulled because one of the cavities is almost to or is on the nerve (dentist said he couldn’t tell 100%). So the dentist told them to get me an appointment for extraction. I got brought my appointment card and the appointment isn’t scheduled until December 18th. I have to wait 4 1/2 months to get some teeth pulled that I went to the dentist as an emergency for. But he can give me some antibiotics and pain meds. That will last what a week? But seriously I am supposed to wait until December 18th to get some problematic teeth pulled? As I was walking out I let it be known that I wasn’t happy at all and that I would be trying to find a dentist elsewhere because that was just absolutely ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a painful, infected & broken tooth. Pulled it quickly and sent me on my way. The dentist was AMAZING! (Dr. Wong) she talked me thru the whole extraction and was very friendly!

Negative experience: One of the ladies here was extremely rude . I seen her doing a X-ray on my teeth & she was shaking her head as she was in disappointment or something. While getting my teeth cleaned she rushed me out the chair after , while there was all this slob on my face still . She was aggressive. While they was doing the cleaning im trying to spit & she’s rushing me to close my mouth back with all this blood still in my mouth. Overall everybody else was very sweet . But the lady who serviced me 0/10.

Fantastic experience: I don’t remember the name of the doctor I saw (it wasn’t Dr. Wong), but my first visit to Familia Dental in Decatur was genuinely a great experience. I’d heard this location was better than the Springfield one in terms of professionalism, service, and friendliness—and I’m glad to say that was true. The dental assistant was super kind and communicative, which helped calm any nerves. The doctor was really friendly, explained my options clearly, and walked me through everything step by step. He was also very thoughtful when I had a sensitive tooth during the cleaning—he stopped right away, apologized, and even asked if I wanted to continue with the areas that didn’t hurt, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a very welcoming and positive visit. I’ll for sure be coming back for the rest of my treatment.

Fantastic experience: I thought I had an appointment, at the Decatur, IL office. I had made it through the call center. I arrived for the appointment and I was not on their schedule. The sweet receptionist worked me in later. The hygienist was very nice. When it came time for my ex rays she was very gentle. The dentist came in and did my water pick cleaning. That thing is no joke. I came out with very clean teeth and NO pick jabbed my gums. A future appointment was made to fix one filling. Overall this was a great dental experience.

Fantastic experience: Edit: The dentures once completed were nothing like the model that was made in the office to be sent off. They did not fit snug and seemed like they were not even for me. I did not return. This was my first visit and I found the staff from reception to the nurse and doctor to be pleasant and respectful. Everything was explained to me clearly. Although I had to to drive a couple of hours to get to this place that would take my insurance, it was totally worth it. I was able to get in for an appointment in a speedy manner as well as a follow-up. Would highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: It was almost like i walked in and walked right out, i had a abcess on my gums and was in a lot of pain, no waiting, staff the nicest and most polite I have ever had at a Dentist appt.. clean rooms and very friendly quick service.

Negative experience: Chipped my teeth in the back in between my two front teeth. This was visible through to the front of my teeth, every time I showed my teeth. They Didn’t even give me a mirror to look but I didn’t know they were supposed to because that was the first time I ever needed anything done to my teeth. I had felt bad for 8 years about the way they made my smile look, but it was more than cosmetic. A real dentist, fixed it for me last year & said it was rotting my two front teeth. Also chipped off a whole corner of my cousin’s tooth when he went.

Fantastic experience: Broken, Hurting teeth Was having difficulty getting in to have broken teeth pulled at Familia Dental until Dr. Sahouri brought me in same day & removed 11 lower teeth with much care during. Within two weeks soreness was resolved and all healed up superbly. Always grateful for this professional minded expert and humanitarian, Dr. Sahouri, and staff for pulling so many thorns from my paw that day. Thank you.

Positive experience: I was in and out rather quickly! but, there are so many people that go there..for example, I have two fillings that need to be done and I can't get in for another 5 months. so that kind of stinks. And I have to say Dr. Wong has such a Great bed side manner. She's is really good!! :)

Fantastic experience: We have two kids seen for routine a checkup and the dental staff were so great with them both. The dentist did a great job of explaining what was going on to us all. Exam areas are clean. The front desk receptionist that checked us in was not very friendly but the atmosphere got much better in the treatment area.

Fantastic experience: Every person I met was courteous and professional. The care was first rate. I am glad to have found a quality dental service. I have suggestion. In the treatment area, the floor did not look as clean as it should be. Please inform your janitorial service.

Negative experience: My appointment was at 10. I got placed in back fast but then ended up waiting 45 minutes before being seen by anyone. I'm not pleased. I drove an hour to go there because it's the only place that takes my insurance and they took x-rays. The dentist knocked on my teeth. Then was like you have 5 cavities. Then when I pointed out another goes oh there's 6. So who knows if I have more than that. But prior to the dentist visiting me for that brief moment I got yet another text that said your appointment is at 1230... like what! No it's at 10 and I'm sitting in this chair currently. Now going back to after me having to correct the number of cavities I have I was given 3 separate appointments. 2 at the end of February 2023 back to back days and the 3rd at the end of March 2023. Why set me up with 3 different appointments? Why not do them all at the same time? Also reminder I live over an hour away, and I'm going to have to drive there back to back days during the time of year that's the crappest for weather like snow and ice! I'm not pleased about everything that has happened and continues to happen with that place since I got brought back to the chair for my first visit. 9-15-23 my appointment was at 4 pm I didn't get pulled back until 4:49pm then they took my blood pressure wondering why it was so high. I had to remind them what teeth needed to be done because the previous person had missed putting it on the list. Crazy! My teeth feel stupid rough like I haven't brushed them in ages. But atleast the cavities have been filled. Unfortunately this is the only place my current insurance will allow me to go. But I've got another update which causes me to lower my previous 2 star to a 1. If I could give negative I would. A couple weeks ago I took my 4 year old daughter and also told them that I knew she had atleast 3 cavities because I could clearly see them. She ended up have 5 total 2 little ones I couldn't see but they are on teeth that will fall out within next year or 2. (Not worried about those) I am however worried about the ones I could see because they are on her back molars and one is really bad. She's not going to lose these teeth until she's 10 to 12 years old. And guess what they won't fix them because she's 4 years old and they can't sedate her with laughing gas. Now I'm having to call around outside of insurance to find anyone that will fix her teeth. Now on to me again. I went in today just a standard cleaning. I was told no cavities no plague build up keep doing what I'm doing. After leaving I was inspecting my teeth to in fact find a cavity very clearly on my back molar. A tooth I did not feel her touch. And the xrays the assistant did missed it! Now I have to wait 6 months before they will even get me in to look at it. Ridiculous! Place needs to change it's logo.
