Fantastic experience: SUPER ORGANIZED, THOROUGH AND CUSTOMER SERVICE 100%
Negative experience: Unprofessional. Waited over an hour to be seen and left. Upon leaving, the office reached out asking if i still wanted to be seen. No communication or customer service. Barely any empathy or acknowledgement or accountability.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend I came over 20mins early for my appointment called ahead to verify it was okay before I could reach someone the phone was picked up twice & put on hold with no Acknowledgment (very unprofessional) it’s very clear them at they take majority Medicaid patients because there’s no way this review is at 4.0 stars Health Department needs to be called. It is very unclean in there when I was getting a cleaning. I didn’t see anyone wash their hands. You’re not supposed to just change gloves you’re supposed to wash your hands. You’re not supposed to be touching a bunch of stuff and then try to work on someone’s mouth. Also, I had to ask can I get flossed at the end of me teeth scraping it’s a Very rushed environment I do not recommend this place to no one They need cameras in there to practice better hygiene practices. The health department be called immediately.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to my regular dentist for years now but I had a weekend emergency that required assistance. Initially the receptionist sounded like she didn’t want to help me, and trust me I was hesitant considering I trust my dentist. So me reaching out took a lot out of me not knowing what the outcome would be. Thankfully, the dentist was extremely kind, talked to me about treatment options, gentle touch when giving me a shot and honestly the first time I’ve ever been able to open my eyes literally as he drilled in my mouth. For me that was a milestone in my life. Needless to say the dentist himself was awesome and I truly appreciated him.

One of the receptionists Yvonne Cabrera, is very unprofessional and enjoys giving passive-aggressive insults. I'd say she's working exactly where she needs to be, her customer service blends in with the quality of the interior appearance. Long wait to be seen, overbooked. Would not recommend.
Fantastic experience: The doctor and staff were really nice. It’s like a different world behind the waiting room door. This was my first appointment and when I walked in the lobby was packed. People were arguing and being loud, obnoxious. I was literally about to leave. But when I was called back, it was very different, professional and clean. I was pleasantly surprised.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very professional. The doctor/ dentist was customer friendly. I expected to have a lot of pain but negative was my gain. I did not have any aftershocks, and the whole experience was painless. It is very rare to find a dentist who stays on task 100% of the time. The fees were reasonable and explained in detail. Continue to serve the people. The front desk made you feel at home and welcome. You can get an immediate appointment without having to wait for a week.
Negative experience: I was not impressed at all with them. They were all disorganized. They didnt have all there supplies together. Im not impressed with Dr. I felt like I was rushed because they all wanted to get home at the end of night. My tooth still hurts. The Dr said that I didnt have a cracked tooth but I feel like I do. I will never come back.

Fantastic experience: On a Saturday, knowing that most dentists offices are closed, they accepted me as a walk-in. They were very busy, but the service was great, Dr. H., and the Entire Staff. She did a great job on the root canal. I went in hurting, left out relieved.

Positive experience: How is it that in 2025 you have absolutely no option to fill out that ridiculously long paperwork online?? I'm sure there will always be those who need to do it by pen and paper. But wouldn't also make things easier for Family Dental if people could simply go fill out a form and submit on their phones? It can't be that hard to create something. There are all kinds of free, or very inexpensive, form creators out there.
Positive experience: I came in at 9.00 am for a cleaning on Saturday, 15 November 2025 and this was the dentists fist day. He performed the cleaning and filling in an exceptional manner and administered Novocain to the upper right side of my mouth before replacing the filling. Unfortunately, after I left the office, the right side of my right upper lip had swollen such, that my lip was completely distorted. I called the office about 2.00pm but a voice mail said that I had called after hours, which meant that I was unable to report this incident. It has been almost 24 hours since the injection(s) and my upper right side of my lip is still swollen and this is worrying me. Please inform the new dentist of my problem and a remedy to correct the problem by calling my home number or emailing me. Thank you, Lyndon Pritchard. Please inform the new dentist
Negative experience: Way too packed. They over book to get as much money as possible while giving horrible service. I waited 2 hrs just to have to switch my dentist to get a half cleaning while the staff was playing running around and cursing. No one told me that i wasn’t able to be seen because my dentist was overbooked . I’ve done better cleanings at home.
Negative experience: The front staff over booked appointments; the wait was over an hour and half and then get to the back and still have to wait at least 30 mins. to been seen by the dentist. The front staff needs to do better when booking appointments people aren’t trying to be at the dentist office all day. When you get to the back the staff and the dentist be all over the place trying to satisfy the customers. Kudos to the back staff workers on doing your best!

Negative experience: This was my 2nd Visit and it wasn't so good. I had a morning appointment. Wait time was ok in the lobby. A bit of a wait when I got a room, during that time I heard A lot of agitation amongst the staff. The main complaint seemed about lack of supplies for proper treatment. A patient should not hear those things especially in a place like a dentist office (patients are already on edge about what to expect, ie pain & cost). There were no goggles to protect my eyes, nor was I given a bib to protect my clothes. My teeth were polished before they were cleaned which all took less than 10 minutes. No check for new cavities. Overall it was a bad visit and not one I care to repeat.

Negative experience: The staff were nice, Dr included. Had 3 extractions done at the same time. They didn't give me any discharge paperwork. I was told to take Tylenol for the pain. I went back 3 days later because the pain was waking me out of my sleep. I was told I had a dry socket and to take lower dose of Tylenol and only at night so I could sleep through the night. He didn't know when he did my extractions, thought it had been 10 days, says if it had been 2 or 3 days he would redo it over again, I informed him that it had been 3 days then he says, oh that's why just 3 days, now he's back peddling, seemed very confuse. Sooo let me get this straight the Tylenol isn't helping and you want me to take less than what I'm already taking and only at night and suffer throughout the day!?!? I had 2 more appointments, I canceled. Just because I'm on medicaid doesn't mean I deserve to suffer

Negative experience: Extremey Kate being seen even though we were 15 mins early. I didn’t get to do my appointment cause we waited so long and I had to reschedule. Not a kid friendly establishment in regards to having equipment for kids. They had a new person there not knowing what to do I had to ask for someone else. The nurse was amazing but the staff before you get to the nurse was just not at its best. Switching dentist for sure for my daughter.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. This was my first visit and definitely my last. I walked in and had a brief interaction with the office manager, Yvonne, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. As a new patient, I simply asked the gentleman at the front desk if I should fill out the form on the clipboard. Yvonne, who was whispering and laughing with a coworker, turned around, made an unprofessional facial expression toward me, and then continued laughing and talking. The receptionist politely answered my question, but after that look and behavior, I decided to cancel my appointment. When I addressed it, Yvonne insisted “no one was talking about you,” but the issue was her disrespectful expression and dismissive attitude. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she went back and forth with me, then handed me the corporate number and told me to “get out of here.” Very rude, distasteful, and not how any patient especially a first-time visitor should be treated.

Negative experience: I’m only giving this place a 1 star because I can’t go any lower. This place is horrible because of the. Dentist. I came here because I cracked my tooth and was in serious pain. After doing my X-rays the dentist came and said in a loud voice. “You have a big hole in your tooth”. First off duhhh. Second why did you need to announce that to everyone. Then he told me I would need a root canal. And referred me to a specialist and told me to call them and sent me on my way. That was in mid August. I went to another dentist yesterday because that same tooth was hurting so bad I could not eat or talk. This dentist informs me my tooth is infected and prescribed me some antibiotics. As well as made me aware of the fact that this same tooth had to be infected when I went to the first dentist. And how I should have been prescribed antibiotics back then. Now I have what they call a hot tooth and if I were to be scheduled for a root canal today they would not be able to operate because that wouldn’t be able to numb the tooth. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!!! They’re are other options that take Medicare. I ask anyone that is reading this DO NOT GO HERE
Positive experience: I went with my son who has autism and they were so very professional from the receptionist to the doctor and everyone in between. The young lady who took my sons x-rays was so patient. She was very gentle with him and explained everything she was, or needed to do so that he and I both understood. I truly appreciated their attention to detail.

Fantastic experience: I started going the Family Dental about a year ago I've been in there about 5 times I found Dr Rhodes to be an extremely knowledgeable professional and very understanding He took his time as he cleaned my teeth and it was the best it's ever been done before and I'm of age LOL . Dr Rhodes fixed my partial and it fits just as perfect as it did before he worked on it I'm glad I had a good experience I just had to wait a little while but it sure is worth it God bless you all at family denta your work is very diligent and appreciated, thank you!! Fantastic experience: cracked my temp crown by accident and they got me in the same day within a few hours! called me back at my appointment time and got me out within an hour. Pretty straight forward with the questions so it went by faster—staff were really nice and so was the dentist :) Definitely recommend!

Negative experience: If I could give them a big fat ZERO, I would. This place is a complete joke. They have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to actual dental care. Imagine walking in for a routine check-up and being told you have NINE cavities only to find out later from a real dentist that you don’t have a single one. That’s beyond shady, it’s downright unethical. This isn’t about bad service, this is about messing with people’s health. And no before anyone says it this isn’t state insurance. I have Delta Dental. They just do whatever they want with everyone’s mouth, insurance or not. And they stay hiring because people catch on. Save yourself the time, the money, and the trauma. Go literally anywhere else. This place should be investigated.
Negative experience: First visit was ok went there because I couldn't open my mouth because of the pain and feeling like I was being electrocuted every time i opened my mouth after what seemed to be a thousand X-rays and afew tears later. Dr Bowles came in and was friendly and seeing the pain I was in called in medicine and referred me to an oral surgeon for TMJ after spending a 11/2 days trying to find one that treats it and takes my insurance i finally called my insurance company to get a referral code so she could help me find someone that was covered and treat it.My insurance and myself was on a 3 way call called the office just to be hung up on as soon as she told them she was with my insurance they hung up on us. So i made an appt to get the information and ask for more med and a muscle relaxer and after waiting for a hour to be seen when i got in chair they started getting the numbing stuff together i told the tech i wasn't there for that today so he went and told Dr and Manger i was refusing treatment then walks in office Manger Yvonne Cabrera the rudest person I have ever talked to. She was yelling at me GRITTING her teeth with just pure evil on her face and not listening to anything I was trying to explain. Then she accused me of going to med express for medicine which I told her she had the wrong person that I hadn't been to a med express in over 15yrs she continued to argue with me calling me a liar saying med express had called them and said a patient had come in there for muscle relaxers so she ASSUMED it was me. Dr.Bowles came in and stood beside her as she was yelling at me and never said a word. So I left told the check out girl to cancel my appt for next week because I would never be back. After getting to my car I completely lost it crying uncontrollably and called my sister she called our family Dr and he fit me in thank God. After explaining to him what I had just went through he wasn't happy either. So BEWARE of Office Manger YVONNE CABRERA I wouldn't expose my worst enemy to her or that office. And after reading most of these reviews she should be fired and whole office should have to take a course on how to treat their patients or completely shut down. If I could give this place a rating less then 1 star it would be -10 Worse experience i have ever encountered.
Negative experience: It takes a lot to make me never return to a medical professional but they managed. I still have sores on my gums from them being cut from the xray tool and the assistant pushing a tool against my gums and just letting it rest there. It feels like a chop shop to see as many people as possible. Firstly, why the hell did I need 20 xrays of my teeth? Ive never had that much and no one else in my life has either. The tech didnt seem to know what he was doing and the part to bite on was constantly pressing into my gums and jaw. Then the Dr came in, didnt introduce himself, just asked if I had any concerns and started going at my teeth. My face and glasses were soaked from the water pressure shooting out of my mouth. They did it as fast as possible, told me I had two cavities and left. I will be getting those done at another office and will never return her.

Negative experience: I wish I could put zero stars . I don’t know where to start . This was my first time coming here and most certainly my last time going . Upon checking in I got called to the counter 2/3 times over information they had already . 1st time to check in initially , 2nd time was to give my ID and insurance card . Since they weren’t communicating I got called up a 3rd time for my ID and insurance card (which was already given) . This was within a 35 minute period of waiting . Now I finally get called to the back . I got X-rays first off my 1 year old and 9 year old were both in the room while they did X-rays . THANKS FOR EXPOSING THEM TO RADIATION ! The X-ray tech was thrown to the wolves because she was a beginner didn’t really know what she was doing and no one was there helping her she was frustrated and I understand that . I supposedly got a “cleaning” . Now the only thing they did was scrape my teeth (NO RINSE) and slapped polished right over all that grit that was scraped off . I definitely will not be returning !!!!
Fantastic experience: Went with my aunt who also bought her two small grandkids. The kids had a ballin the play room. Wait was unusually long according to them but she was in and out. I'm definitely going back to get treatment.

This person said table is set up, but it wasn't completely set up the way is supposed to be where every supplies needs supposed to be in tray prior to any procedure. Negative experience: Very upset. I usually wait 2hours before I am even called to the back. They are unapologetic. Don't explain the process and act annoyed when you have an inquiry about the abnormally long wait times. I'm sick of it.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with my experience today. I had a tooth pulled and the dentist numbed me up good so I didn’t experience little if any painful discomfort. I will be returning to get a regular exam once my gum heals.
Negative experience: I came here to get a root canal on my back tooth and as they was starting up they kept going to patient to patient right then and there I knew they was gonna mess up so they put in my gums the Anesthesia An left about 15-20 mins they cam back an started the root canal like they was going to deep i had felt them sticking around okay cool when it was all done my tooth looked like it had sunken in and now a month later i have an infection in my gums right under my tooth said due to a failed root canal.

I’ve called to try to receive corporate information numerous of times due to the unprofessionalism and got nothing but a dead end. Been going to this doctor since a child and this is the worst staff they ever had. I hope this review reaches corporate so I can let them know every complaint I have.
Negative experience: This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I have severe tooth pain so I went here for help. The girl taking X-rays of my teeth put me through so much more pain. I’ve had plenty of X-rays in my 40 years of life. I’ve NEVER had someone shove the plates down my throat, or shove them into my gums where they literally cut me. I had tears rolling down my face. She kept telling me to bite down but she put them in so crooked and out of place I couldn’t! I was too focused on not letting it slice my mouth even more!!! She had no idea what she was doing and she definitely needs more training. That was awful. The actual dentist was very short with me and didn’t make me feel like he had my best interest. I will NOT be returning.
Negative experience: I made the appointment instead of cancelling at 10:40 on an 11:00 o'clock appointment on the day it snowed. The individual at the front desk was very polite and tried to accommodate me as best as possible. I waited in the back treatment room for an hour and decided to reschedule because the snow started to fall and still was not treated. The attitude I got in the back when I was going to be treated was 'i could care less whether you leave or not ' . I resc but after my procedures are done, I will not be returning!!
Fantastic experience: My experience was great the dentist was very good. The staff was pleasant and accommodating.
Negative experience: Do not recommend. They performed a root canal on my mouth then asked me to return for capping. Arrived for capping and was told they don’t think they can do it. My root canal has now fallen out. Now they want to charge me to relook at it. Wait time is over 2 hours WITH an appointment.
Positive experience: They don't answer the phone they put you hold forever. I called to let them know I couldn't make appt. and I was put on hold 6 times listening to music.Then when answered said please hold.Other than that there good.
Positive experience: Great care. They offer some walk ins everyday as well. Only downfall is the wait times can be lengthy
Fantastic experience: My first visit was today and it was awesome I got a filling today also my teeth clean .And they moved quickly and very gentle and nice!
Negative experience: My dentist and tech were nice. The dentist was very understanding of my anxiety issues, and that I had to be recommended somewhere else that could offer me a light sedation to get my work completed. The front desk lady however, a pregnant at the time white woman maybe in her 30’s was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She sat at the front desk, talking about her baby daddy drama loudly for the crowded waiting room to hear before, and after my appointment. After my appointment when I was checking out, however, she actually laughed in my face at the fact that my paperwork said that I would need light sedation to get my root canal and cavity filled. “Who needs that? *laughter* *for that little bit of work?” *more laughter.* Complete lack of professionalism and compassion, as if she does not work in the medical field in some capacity. That and the long wait to even be seen is enough for me to never come back, or even recommend this place without a warning of those things. No one deserves to get made fun of for their teeth at the dentist office they are going to for help.
Negative experience: This is the worst dental office in Hampton. A family member was seen here and they did not make him feel comfortable. They pulled way too many teeth for the amount of anesthesia that was given. My family member was screaming. I went to talk to the office manager, while having a conversation with me she was telling someone what to do on the computer. One of the receptionist was on her personal phone. the other receptionists were having personal conversations using profanity. I do not recommend going to Family Dental of Hampton. It's dirty and unprofessional. That was my brother's first time going there and unfortunately he has go back because of his insurance.
