Fantastic experience: This is the best dental office in San Antonio! I have been coming here for over 20 years and I have always received excellent service. Finished my bridge implant and am very happy with the results! Dr Edwards and his staff are excellent.

Fantastic experience: This has got to be some sort of new record. I left my house at 12:25 for a 12:30 appointment to have a tooth pulled. I was pulling back into my driveway at 12:58 missing a tooth. 28 minutes and I was back home! Dr. Villarreal was great, and the price was easy on a cash payer without insurance. Great job also by the whole staff. Highly recommend.

Dr Edwards is great & cares when you have any issue. My hygienist, Carol is also the best in her field. I'll keep recommending Dr Edwards & his colleagues anytime I'm asked.

Negative experience: Had the worst cleaning ever today! Usually I have the best cleaning ever, but was given a temporary hygienist today. Left feeling gross; she never even rinsed my mouth out or had water available to do so.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of now advance dental for over 20 years. They have the best chair side manner. Everyone is so professional but so very personable. They are prompt with appointment times and will spend the time with you needed to make sure everything is understood.

Negative experience: Very disappointed I had a root canal back two years ago the doctor Long did the root canal. I do believe he did it wrong and cracked my tooth. I went back again to see him and he says there is bacteria in the tooth. Go see a specialist once all specialist says really nothing we can do. It’s a cracked tooth. It wasn’t for Dr Edwards to look at my chart to say hey tooth is cracked and there’s no way to save it. We have to abstract it. I do believe Dr. Long cracked that tooth while doing the root canal so thank you now I had to get my tooth pulled now I’m in a situation where I shouldn’t even be in if we had done it right the first time very disappointed. I do not want this doctor to ever see me again for anything about my teeth

Fantastic experience: Going to the Dentist is one of my least favorite things. However, my experience at Advanced Dental has changed my attitude drastically. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff friendly. Dr. Castillo and her assistant were kind and knowledgeable making me feel comfortable. I expressed monetary concerns with the Dr. who had me speak with the insurance specialist who also was positive and assured me that they had my back if there were any issues with the insurance company. I left the office feeling secure, without my usual dread of returning. I have already recommended them to family and friends!

Fantastic experience: I thought the dental hygiene did a good job. But, she needed a bit more attention to detail.She didn't quite clean the back of my molars. Possibility, since she is new to the practice someone could have double checked her work. I guess i was spoiled by Nancy all these years.

Negative experience: Don't waste your time unless your government funded. They did nothing to understand or address my needs. They tried to sell me a teeth cleaning, all I came for was a 2nd opinion, but they did not hear or understand my simple request. Scheduled with a particular doctor because he was recommended, but appointment was with someone else. Never even saw that doctor. Business office failed to reply to my concerns. Needless to say, did not begin services, and will not be back. It's a money grab.

Fantastic experience: Dr Castillo is incredible, such good treatment, super professional, and nice, she literally has a calming effect super power. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Villarreal continues to be awesome! I know it’s the dentist but I actually enjoy going there. I attribute this to Dr Villarreal‘s abundant skills and cheerful demeanor. He’s truly a doctor that enjoys what he does. Too, he does it with extreme talent.

Negative experience: Dentist who does botox, Dr. Villarreal, is weird. I’m 23 and have TMJ osteoarthritis and he kept asking if I’m officially diagnosed like he didn’t believe me, one time is fine but more than once was off putting. Kept stating over and over again that it’s not going to change my condition which I’m well aware of, I was just hoping for possible relief. Then when he check my joints with his hands I winced and pain and the dental assistant said “oh I think she’s in pain cause of her facial expression”, which was true, but then he said “I think it’s just because she doesn’t want me touching her.” Like?? It wasn’t weird but then he made it weird. I can’t say anything about his actual expertise but I think he’s a weird guy. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the employees were very sweet.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Advanced Dental Associates for several years. I have always been treated well. The doctors and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. My dentist, Dr. Garcia, has always tried to find the best way to treat my dental problems. And she has a great personality! I also love my dental hygienist, Debbie. She,like Dr. Garcia, takes the time to Assexplain what is being done and why. The other dentists in the practice will also do the same. I highly recommend Advanced Dental Associates.

Fantastic experience: Visit #1 This place is amazing. The reception staff is vey helpful, Alexis, and Dr. Garcia were wonderful and helped me calm down at my initial visit. I am actually looking forward to my next visit and continued care. Thank you Advanced Dental Associates! Visit #2 I had my second visit and it was even more amazing!! I filled out their paperwork online well before my appointment. I was seen right away and comforted in the exam chair with a pillow and blanket I choose to be sedated for my three crowns and one filling. OMG, I have never been treated so well at a dentist's office in my life! Visit #3 I was super anxious and concerned about my appointment because my nerves were on my nerves‍! Dr. G's assistant checked my blood pressure and it was extremely elevated, so they gave me gas to calm me. While Dr. G was drilling, her assistant was tapping on my arm and shoulder to distract me from the drill!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! The taping is the missing piece that slayed the anxiety!!! ADA is a WHOLE mood, experience, and not so "scary"(my former stinking thinking). The whole staff are all amazing, super helpful, and determined to serve with the utmost customer service and the best that I have ever witnessed at a nongovernmental dental office! Thank you SO MUCH. Visit #4 Another awesome visit. ADA is an excellent dental office and they have turned me into a lifetime client Visit #5 Lena (xrays), Page (dental hygienist), and Dr. Castillo (dentist) are amazing!! Today, I had THE best cleaning of my life!! Lena calmed me with a stress ball, water, a pillow, and encouragement; Page truned on the laughing gas to completely melt away all my anxiety to the point I could almost nap without having any reaction to the drill, noise, angst and she said to keep doing what I am doing with brushing and she gave recommendations on water picks/flossing to take the stress off my arithritic wrists; Dr. Castillo gave me kudos on my ancient gold fillings that are still holding up. All of them have EXCELLENT bedside manner, too.

Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely one of the best dental practices I’ve ever visited. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming as soon as I walked in. The Doctor exuded professionalism and explained everything she was doing during my initial exam and thoroughly planned out an approach to performing extensive restorative treatment for my dental issues. Fantastic experience: My hygienist has been Carol for almost 4 years now. She’s always so nice and wonderful along with giving me information to improve my dental care. When I have an appointment she always remembers the details of my care program and updates me on the latest procedures that would improve my dental health. I also see Dr. Castillo who is also wonderful and gives the pros and cons of any procedures I may need. Everyone is wonderful at the dental office. They are so wonderful and do such an excellent that I entrusted my elderly to them. She also has nothing but good things to say about every visit.

Fantastic practice for excellent care that is definitely needed. 24 May 2023 visit: The hygienist, Adrienne, did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth I always enjoy my visits with her! This practice has very knowledgeable dentists and helpful staff. They all provide excellent and caring patient service. 12 May 2025 visit: I am a retired dentist and I have always found this practice to be extreme;y professional, caring and providers of excellent quality care. I actually enjoy visiting with the doctors and staff who are all very friendly. You will have made an excellent decision if you seek care at this practice. 24 June 2025: Dr. Edwards placed a full porcelain crown on a upper molar. The process was flawless. No adjustment was required and my bite is great. No anesthesia was necessary. Fantastic practice!!

Fantastic experience: I am a new patient at Advanced Dental Associates. I spent one hour and thirty minutes in their office and experienced the most comprehensive evaluation I have ever had in a dental office. Every person that attended me was very kind and personable. Procedures were explained thoroughly before they took place which made me feel comfortable and respected. I was never left alone for a minute. I have scheduled two more appointments with them and expect my experience will be the same. The front office and examine rooms were hopping but seemed to be organized and running smoothly. I have posted this review in the past, and just to let you know, I am still with this dental office and have not been disappointed yet. 06.18/25 I still believe this dental group is terrific ! I had a concern about an unexpected issue, and I was able to book an appointment right away. The issue was explained and everything was taken care of promptly and within a time that worked for me. Dr. Castillo and her assistant projected positive attitudes and were very personable.

Negative experience: BEWARE: These people take advantage of Senior Citizens and don't tell you all the costs upfront. After you get the work done they shock you with another $375.00 expense that a person on a fixed income didn't expect but has to pay because they trusted people that lied to them. For a senior citizen on a fixed budget $375 is a lot of money to have to pay when they were not expecting to pay anything. We understood that the insurance company may not pay the full amount of the claim and we were prepared to pay the difference but not another $375 on top of that balance. By omitting this VERY important information they are taking advantage of people that relied on them to tell the truth. When I called to bring this to someone's attention all they told me was "oh someone should have told you this verbally" which is the most pathetic excuse I've heard in a long time. I tried speaking with a supervisor but was given the same poor excuse which made the situation even more frustrating.

Fantastic experience: Adriene took my blood pressure as usual, and the high number was 84, 32 units LOWER than normal. and lower than I have ever seen. I guess that means that EVEN THOUGH I'm in a dentists office, I can trust her to do a great job cleaning my teeth and don't have to de on edge. She's the beat. 5 Stars. My wife likes her too.

Fantastic experience: Many years ago I had a temp crown on and it came off on a Saturday, after calling Dr Edwards he agreed to meet me at his office the next day (Sunday) to put my permanent one on , most people would say ahhh I’m sorry we will see you Monday but not Dr Edwards.

Fantastic experience: For decades I avoided proper dental care. I would go only when necessary. Advanced Dental Associates have positively encouraged me to be more pro-active in my dental care and have done so in a non-threatening way. They are very professional and show consistency in their approach of introducing themselves, explaining what is going to take place, what to expect and approximately how long the visit will take. It doesn't matter who it is, the entire staff is trained very well in following those steps. This relieves much of the natural anxiety a dental patient feels when going to the dentist. My recent couple of visits have been with Dr. Craig Long. He is very patient, thorough and meticulous with his work. He is efficient and always mindful of how I am doing. His work is fantastic and I highly recommend him.

Negative experience: My five kids have been patients here for nearly 13 years. We most recently were treated so poorly we felt obligated to share our experience. This office NEVER has any APPOINTMENTS AVAILIBLE. Last year during my son's routine cleaning, we asked about getting an invisible retainer replaced for one that had broken (my son had received from his orthodontist). Advanced Dental was great about getting the impressions done and getting the retainer replaced. No problem. Fast forward to this year. We were in need of another retainer. They took impressions during a cleaning appointment. So far so good. I paid $600 out of pocket for this retainer. When we went to pick up the retainer, they gave us a "Night Guard" instead along with my son's molds/impressions. They admitted to ordering the wrong one. They said they would order the correct retainer right away and I needed to bring back the impressions/molds, they said it would take a few days. I said that was great because we were going on Spring Break vacation and it would be great to have the retainer prior to us leaving on our trip. I called Friday and lady said they were in the office, but that there were no appointments to get my son in to get the retainer fitted. She called us several times during our vacation to ask us to come in for the fitting, I reminded them again, we were out of town on our trip. My son finally got the correct retainer a month after ordering. I called back after our trip and asked to speak to the office manager, Mata. I asked Mata for $100 credit to the account due to all of the frustration and having to come back to the office several times to get my son's correct retainer. She advised me that the lead dentist would not approve the credit and there is nothing she could do except apologize.

Fantastic experience: For the most part, staff at the front desk were polite and professional. They seem to be having a good time, enjoying their work. I was seen within 1 hour of my arrival and within 30 minutes of my appointment. The hygienist was very friendly and professional, as well as gentle during the cleaning process. I would recommend ADA. Negative experience: Sweet providers but I was told on the phone the membership would cover my cleanings and X-rays due to not having insurance and would be told all about it at the appointment. Upon arriving they took me straight into X-rays later to tell me the membership only covers maintenance cleanings after I pay over $1k for the real cleaning...I also couldn't leave without paying them the +$300 for the X-rays that they had already done without informing me of the price/details of the membership correctly until after X-rays were taken. When I told the front desk person that's not what I was told on the phone she simply said she was sorry and made no attempts to remedy the situation. Definitely poor communication on their end on such an important aspect of the service being the charge of the services.... Had I not had the money I would of been in a pickle...

Fantastic experience: All the staff was very friendly, professional and thorough. The only improvement I could think to suggest is that when scheduling for an appointment, the front desk should ask if the patient would like to get the exam and cleaning all done at one time. Other than that, the office is efficient, timely and ensures patients are taken care of. Paige is an awesome hygienist! Update: They've refined the process as long as the exam doesn't reveal anything outside of a routine cleaning needing to be done.

Fantastic experience: First impression is so true in this office..Not because I know Dr.Villarreal. Your greeted w/a friendly smile & hello. The tech who got me ready for Dr.Garcia very friendly & informative as well as the tech in training. Dr.Garcia very professional friendly & informative. I loved especially how Dr.Garcia interacted with the techs. Very professional. And treated them with respect!! You DO NOT see that as much anymore. And to the end of my visit it ended with a smile and fond farewellMost importantly I didn’t feel NO PAIN!!! THANK YOU I my front tooth needed some work enough to where I feel sooooo much better about myself. It does make a difference. Again THANK YOU for giving my smile back
