Negative experience: Racism in any form is disgusting, but when it comes from someone working in healthcare, like Diana Scrogham at McDaniel Family Dentist, it’s even more disturbing. Healthcare workers are supposed to treat people with compassion, dignity, and respect. How can someone who holds such hateful views be trusted to care for all patients equally? There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior, and no room for it in any office that claims to serve the community. McDaniel Family Dentist should seriously reconsider the kind of people they allow to represent their name.

I've had same-day fillings for cavities found in a cleaning, and walked out of the building with confidence and the relief of not having to schedule a second appointment. Fantastic experience: I switched to this dentist office after my last provider experience was utterly terrible. I wish I switched sooner because this office was friendly, timely, and showed a much higher level of experience. They were transparent about their plans for treatment and costs. Dr. Spencer (honestly the whole staff) made the appointment feel welcoming and not at all stressful. So far, the quality of their service has already exceeded that of my previous provider (though to be fair, they did not set the bar high).

The doctors were very informative and knew what they were talking about. We have had bad experience with dental offices in the past but Foster Dental made us feel very comfortable and cared for. Updated review years later- McDaniel Family Dental is still such an amazing dental office. The staff remain friendly and helpful and the office is super clean. The office staff always ask to make sure you are comfortable during your appointment no matter if it’s just a cleaning or a procedure.

Negative experience: Haven't been there in a year. Teeth are hurting. Asked for a script of amoxicillin, not a controlled substance. Was told to set up an appointment for 100 dollars, just to see the dentist. Also their smiles plan is a waste of money. They were a good place before they changed names a couple years back. Now it's just corporate greed.

Negative experience: I was not going to leave a review but I thought other people should know my experience. I came in for a simple filling and I’ve had plenty in the past by Smiles in Joplin. They ended up drilling my tooth out so much half of it is now entirely missing and they didn’t explain or anything, they simply told me I had a cavity and drilled the piss out of me. The head honcho dentist or whatever was dismissive of me at the end of my appointment when I told him I can feel my teeth not lining up correctly. He told me “no it’s perfect” he bite checked it and did not explain half of my tooth is now completely gone. My previous dentist would replicate my teeth after the fillings so perfectly that after the appointment you would never notice anything had ever happened. Unfortunately I didn’t realize how talented they were or I never would have gotten this hack job done. They see absolutely nothing wrong with mangling your teeth and then leaving you to discover it on your own. I now have sensitivity which I did not have before (likely due to my missing tooth material). I will be seeking legal action (because I can afford to do so) if that is possible after consulting with my previous dentist who didn’t screw my teeth up. In what world is it acceptable to not inform someone you are going to remove half their tooth and then dismiss them when they complain of sensitivity. Jesus Christ what a nightmare now I have to pay the other guy to undo this god awful, uncomfortable, and ugly mess you have made of my mouth. DO NOT GO HERE

Negative experience: So my daughter had her cavities filled here and I have to say we will not be back. The first red flag was my husband took her to the appointment and they took her back without him. He felt like he wasn’t allowed to go with the way they talked to him. Granted he should have pushed it, but that is hindsight. Next red flag was they didn’t explain anything to my husband after the appointment. They said they had to use the laughing gas on her, but didn’t explain why. They also didn’t fully explain prices, but I was able to call and get that cleared up. My final red flag was my daughter was visibly upset after the appointment, but we couldn’t get out of her why. Again because they didn’t tell my husband anything and he didn’t go back with her we have no clue what happened. We tried to talk to her, but she wouldn’t say what happened just kept saying she was fine while obviously she was very upset. Her fills seem fine just the overall experience was not good.

All of the staff were extremely kind and willing to answer any questions I had, as well as being willing to work with me on the best treatment plan. I worked directly with Maria and she was amazing! Fantastic experience: Love going here! I had a few cavities I needed filled and McDaniel Family Dental was able to fit me in around my work schedule and get me done in less than 30 minutes. I also didn't feel ANYTHING while they did the fillings. I literally sat in the chair, popped in my air pods, and listened to Harry Potter while they did everything they needed to do and then I was on my way! I would recommend this dentist to everyone! The people are always so sweet and the appointments are quick and painless! They have definitely made me not afraid to go to the dentist anymore!!

Fantastic experience: I am new to the practice, having gone to my previous dentist my entire life. He retired and referred me to Foster Dental Care. I have now been to their office for three appointments and have been impressed acrossed the board. The staff is friendly and professional and my appointments have all been on time. They are great about answering questions and explaining procedures. I am very comfortable there and would definitely recommend. Edit- added 6/15/23- The practice has now switched to McDaniel Family Dental but is the same great office. Wonderful staff and comfortable atmosphere. Janell is my hygienist and I love her! I typically see Dr Spencer for checkups and she is great, but saw Dr Huynh today and I really liked her as well. Edit- added 6/12/24. Still impressed with the entire office. I have now seen all three doctors at least twice (although they always ask if I have a preference on who I see). I feel very comfortable with all three and any staff I interact with. I've referred multiple people to this office and will continue to do so⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: Just went for my first visit. They welcomed me warmly, gave a brief tour and made sure I was comfortable before beginning x rays and new patient cleaning. The technology available here blows my former office out of the water. I appreciated the sweet, calm demeanor of my hygienist and how she took time to educate me along the way. I usually don't schedule out my follow up visits anywhere, but give myself time to contemplate whether I'll go back or if it was the right fit...let's just say I was scheduling for November before I exited today. I hope to be a patient here for years to come, insurance provider willing! (2021) ^That was earlier and I'll leave it. Updating after my visit June 2024- I had time away from this practice due to insurance change ups, but was welcomed back today. I had a crack and cavity between teeth. While dental work isn't necessarily my favorite or a task I would wish to do daily, I didn't dread going to this practice. The dental assistant was cheerful, welcoming and made sure I was cozy with a blanket. They were accommodating that my 10 year old was along and made sure he was alright while I had my issues fixed (as in, offered him the TV and said bless you when he sneezed). The amount of gas seemed just enough to make me comfortable without overdoing it. I felt like they were respectful of my time, made sure I knew what they were doing, and gave multiple opportunities for me to ask questions. I drive from a neighboring town and will continue to do so- would recommend them to anyone who has dental apprehension.

Fantastic experience: McDaniel Family Dental is the best! We drive quite a ways (45 min one way!) just to see Dr Spencer and the amazing team here. I appreciate that they don’t drill into a tooth unless it’s necessary. We have been to other dentists in the past that get paid based on production and have had some unnecessary and costly treatments! They are gentle and caring about our whole family’s comfort and are great at explaining every step of the process. Very helpful for my youngest (8)! She literally can’t wait to come back to the dentist! We always have a great experience at McDaniel Family Dental!

They offered me headphones, sunglasses, a pillow and even chapstick after the fillings. I had two small cavities and was back in the car in 15 mins. Fantastic experience: I worked in dental for nine years at an endodontic office and I can tell you right now, there is a huge difference between good and bad chair side manner. This practice is FABULOUS!!! I can also tell you that Dr. McDaniel gave me an injection in an upper area and I did not even feel it. Great care and top notch dentistry.

Fantastic experience: I went in for a bad toothache and they quickly diagnosed it and sent me to an orthodontist who did a root canal that same day. 2 days later McDaniel's office called me up to see how I was doing. The people are always very friendly and thorough.

Fantastic experience: Had my first Dental cleaning and checkup. Jessica was so thorough, I don’t think my teeth have ever been so clean, and she removed stains that had been behind my teeth for years. Dr McDaniel diagnosed a tooth that I’d been having trouble with, and had seen my regular dentist for multiple times. I stayed after my cleaning for repair and Dr McDaniel and Maria fixed it quickly and painlessly!

We have had experienced everything from cleanings, to extractions, to root canals, to the unfortunate emergency visit. McDaniel’s has consistently provided the highest quality of care. They put your fears at ease (as a patient, the parent of a patient, and a child patient), will work with you if needed on payments, and even went above and beyond to get a crown delivered inside of an insurance window. McDaniel’s with us in planning the best way to care for our teeth, and what it means for your overall health, and how that ultimately decreases our need for anything outside of regular cleanings.
