Fantastic experience: I have gone to Smileville for my daughter and also for myself for years. I always see Dr. Sharafi because he is a good dentist. The last time I went, I was upset over a few personal things, and he was concerned and genuinely empathetic. He treated me like a friend first and then a dentist. For this reason, I highly recommend Dr. Sharafi. I have always been treated professionally by all of the staff at Smileville as well, and so has my daughter. I personally have not seen another dentist here, so I am not trying to compare or anything (everyone has always been great with my daughter). Thank you

Fantastic experience: The facility is super nice. The people are kind and accommodating. I went in for an initial patient appointment and cleaning. They mentioned a cavity forming in an existing filling and offered then and there to fix it. Took 10 minutes for the repair tops. I didn’t feel judged or looked down on, and will for sure be back again in 6 months.

Positive experience: I saw Dr. Sharafi and he was great. He introduced himself and explained my dental care. However I was disappointed in the staff as far as introducing themselves and explaining what they were doing. I had someone do my xray that never introduced herself as well as someone come in and do the cleaning that did not say not 1 word. Very disappointed in that since it makes a big difference. I already felt nervous and it would’ve been nice to have them make it more comfortable.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment and I am looking for forward for DC in a weeks. The dental hygienist who helped me ( I think his name was Damien ) sorry if I miss spelled the name. He was honest and professional. They let me ask questions and some of my questions were puzzling given my experience somewhere else. They were nice enough to explain to me what I needed and I appreciate their professionalism.

Fantastic experience: Amazing dental practice. They are so kind and understanding to my special needs son. We searched for years for a practice with admitting privileges that can perform work in the hospital if needed--until we finally found Smileville.

Positive experience: Generally great experience, but the non-negotiable $75 fee for missed appointments without rescheduling within 48 hours is quite off-putting. Regardless of circumstance or the amount of control one has over an emergency or other mitigating situation, smileville will unflinchingly extract their financial penalty from you. This punishment mindset regarding missed appointments, as opposed to incentivizing repeatedly making appointments on time, is an old fashioned and starkly authoritarian method of dealing with the issue. Further impoverishing people who miss appointments is very customer unfriendly. Otherwise the staff, dental techs, and dentists here are fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Second visit to smileville for the entire family and it was great! They saw us on time and was able to juggle all of us with no extra wait time in between. Just in time to get back to school too. Very friendly staff and doctors. Highly recommend especially those looking for gentle cleaning.

Negative experience: Make sure you verify with your insurance company what is covered each time you go and don’t rely on the front staff to do it! They told us certain procedures were covered prior to our arrival. Once the procedure was finished and As we left that day nothing was said about any amount due just a goodbye. . A few weeks later we received a very high bill. I called and tried to get the office manager on the phone but had a very difficult time. This was no doubt human error on their end. The front staff then began telling me each time I tried to call and make an appointment that until the bill was paid my children would not be able to get their cleanings. I kept asking for the office manager or Doctor to call. Each time I was told they were either busy or out of town. As the weeks turned into months it became clear they wanted money and that’s all they cared about. I am genuinely floored by the way this was handled and the way my family was treated.

Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely amazing! The office staff, both front and back, made us feel so welcomed! They are kind and helpful. There is the most amazing sensory water wall in the treatment area that we were in that provides colorful, flowing bubbles and soothing water sounds! We loved this place!

Fantastic experience: I have always been very pleased with my own service. I must pay as you go customer. I was especially happy a year ago when I brought my granddaughter in for a visit. I had never seen their pediatric section, but it is a wonderful office for children as well

Positive experience: Smileville used to be great but once they got a bigger office things are not like they used to be. Both my kids go there and the two last times we went I noticed a big difference. They seemed very disorganized in terms of their administrative staff. Last time that I went there two weeks ago we literally spend two hours there and my kids just needed cleaning and X-rays. Before it used to take 30 mins max each appointment. I just think the practice is too large now and they are not organized like they used to be.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sharafi for 10+ years. Despite moving away from the area, I continue to use his services for my dental needs. I appreciate his honesty and conservative approach. He will never recommend anything that is not absolutely medically necessary. He called me on a Saturday to give me an update on my condition, having consulted with another provider about it. The new office is nice and the staff are professional. I will continue using Dr. Sharafi’s services for as long as he practices.

Fantastic experience: Went to Smileville today and after searching all over for a good honest dentist, I think i finally found the one! First of all, Damon, the hygienist I had, was the best hygienist I’ve ever had. He was thorough, gentle, and didn’t drown me with water like other hygienists do now. In fact he barely used water at all which was great. Dr Sharafi did a great job and even filled my cavities quickly after my exam. I look forward to coming back again in 6 months.

From when my daughter was two to now, at 12, their team has gone above and beyond to make sure we have a fantastic experience at Smileville. The teeth cleanings and exams are super thorough, and they always answer all our questions. About six months ago, I needed a crown, and Dr. Sharafi is a perfectionist! He took his time preparing my tooth and made a crown that matches the shade of my other teeth so well, no one could tell it was a crown. From the moment we check in to the time we leave, the experience is always pleasant. The staff is friendly, caring, helpful, and communicative. I highly recommend Dr. Mina and Dr. Sharafi!

Fantastic experience: As a senior citizen, I have been a patient of the Smileville dental practice for over ten years. Today I was seen on an emergency basis for pain in a capped tooth. I have appreciated the professionalism and expertise of the practice in meeting the various needs of the patients.

Fantastic experience: We’ve been coming here for three years, and every visit has been wonderful. The staff are warm, welcoming, and highly trained to work with children. The inviting entrance and playful decorations make it a comforting environment for kids. It’s truly a great place for pediatric dental care!

Negative experience: Very upsetting experience at my son's first ever dentist visit with an unprofessional dental hygienist. My family was recommended to Smileville Dentistry by TPG Pediatrics upstairs in the same building. Our pediatrician mentioned that this dentistry would be a great take place to take my 5 year old son who has sensory sensitivity. On his first visit ever to the dentist, my son was scared. Unlike the dentist's, he is not afraid of going to the doctor's. I know after exposure to what a dentist visit is like vs. his preconceived notions, my son will be fine. We chose Smileville because of its child friendly environment and our pediatrician's recommendation. However, the dental hygienist who treated my son was both judgmental in her assessments of my son and inappropriate. Upon entering the room and seeing my scared son, the dental hygienist did absolutely nothing to try make my son better. She sat down and started talking about him clearly assuming there's something developmentally or mentally wrong with him. There isn't. After asking me what medical condition my son has, I said none except that he has sensory sensitivity. The dental hygienist then asked me the same question, with an expression that she did not believe me. After repeating myself and growing concerned something is wrong with my child because he is scared, I asked the dental hygienist if being scared at their first dentist appointment is atypical behavior for a 5 year old. She told me this is, that being scared at his age is atypical, that kids his age should be able to tolerate a cleaning and x-rays. The part where the dental hygienist crossed the line was when she said this could be a symptom of a developmental or mental disorder or trauma. This alarmed me because my son hasn't been traumatized, why would she make such an assumption because of him being scared at his first dentist visit? By her taking that position of authority, I assumed I was speaking to the dentist. It wasn't until after I left that I realized I spoke to the hygienist, not the dentist, and it was inappropriate for her to assume my son has a disability, give medical advice to seek help from an occupational therapist, and dismiss us without consulting the dentist. What upsets me most about the visit is that my son at 5 years old understood what she was saying about him, and became even more upset that he got up to leave the room. I will be filing a formal complaint.

Negative experience: I scheduled an appointment with this office for my child. We were the only black family there at the time. There were three families ahead of us and five families that came in after us. As I sat waiting in the waiting room, I watched them call every family to the back that came in before and after us. I went to the front desk to inquire about the wait. They stated that we had to wait on a treatment room. It’s confusing as to why they had a treatment room available for everyone expect for us. I left without my child being seen because I refuse to spend my money at a place that treat patients like this.

Negative experience: UPDATE: The Office Manager, Erum, called the next day to offer her apology and understanding & also explained to me why I did not see the dentist I requested. She empathized with me and said she could understand my frustration as it relates to being a mom and expecting one thing and receiving something else. Her calling made me feel welcoming, and it was nice to be offered an apology. Every time my kids go to this office, they end up seeing a different dentist. Specifically, my son was getting some work done to his teeth that required us to visit 4 different times for this work. The 1st two times, he saw the same dentist, but the 3rd time was a surprise amongst our arrival that the dentist we had been seeing was out today. I asked why no one called to notify me, but no real explanation was given. So, I had to explain all over again what was going on, and the dentist that did the work was on a completely different page from what I was last told he would be getting done that day. So a month later, specifically a week before Sept 20, We went back for the 4th time to get the final work done and seen ANOTHER Dr. Well, I made up my mind then to request/See this Dr. From now on, which the dentist knew my decision and was okay with that. She even made the statement how she can imagine that sticking to one dentist may be more helpful. Fast forward to Sept. 20th. Before making this appointment, I SPECIFICALLY ASKED for the same Dentist that my child last seen. They said okay, they booked my kids appointment FOR THAT DR. I ALSO MENTIONED TO THEM, if she happens to not be here that day, please let me know. They said okay. Well, I go to the Appointment Sept. 20, check my kids in and she said thank you, You may have a seat. She then calls me back to the counter, 2mins later to say, "I see here you requested a specific dentist and I wanted to inform you that she's out today. She had an last min. Emergency " same thing they told me about the 1st dentist during our 3rd visit. So this time I asked, Why didn't anyone notify me ahead of time.? She didn't have an answer. So I checked my kids or of school, expecting to see a certain dentist only to GET THERE then become aware that she's not there. BUT IF THE TABLES WERE TURNED, and I canceled 15 mins before my appointment in sure they would still charge my Account for the $75 cancelation fee. But what's the difference?? Isn't this the same thing the dentist did to my kids.!! Someone should've respected me enough as a patient and working mom of school aged kids to notify me BEFORE MY ARRIVAL.!!

Fantastic experience: Took our daughter here for her very first dentist appointment. Maybe it's because I just haven't been to a pediatric dentist office before, but even so - this place seemed special! You can just tell when some people care, and some don't. Everyone we came across was super friendly, very patient with our daughter, and you can tell they're very experienced because they have every trick in the book to make your kid feel comfortable! Fun waiting area, TV's up above for the kids for needed distractions, they play your video of choice if requested, etc. I liked it so much I signed up for my adult cleanings here (they serve all ages in the family)!

Negative experience: The front desk staff are unprofessional and rude. They gave us some serious attitude the entire time and I prefer not to work through them. They also charge $25 to send your medical records to any specialist which I think is unfair to charge money for your own medical records. Seriously debating coming back here. Not the best experience.

Fantastic experience: I have had very negative experiences in the past with dentists, so I was very anxious when I had to find a new one - and in fact had put it off for years. My mother in law went to Smileville and told me I just had to try it and she was 100% right! Everyone is so friendly, they go out of their way to make you both physically and emotionally comfortable, and their office is absolutely state of the art! Our entire family is switching to this practice and I will be recommending them to anyone who will listen!

Negative experience: I am not thrilled by my experience. I had previously posted that I'd rate the doc a 5 and the office staff in the front 3. I have a cavity. They found it 2 cleanings ago and said they would communicate with me regarding an action. They didn't so I figured it was ok. Just found out it wasn't ok and I had to pay $160 to see a specialist to ensure I didn't need a root canal before they filled. So I went to the specialist they asked me to see 3 days later. After paying and visiting the specialist and getting an all clear the doctor at Smileville called and said even though the specialist said all is well, they won't do the filling and my only option is to 1: let my tooth rot in my mouth 2: have it removed somewhere else. So now I saw a specialist for nothing AND I get an extraction. So not thrilled that this experience. They just don't have it together.

Fantastic experience: Great experience and highly professional. Being raised by a Dentist, I have high expectations and standards for my Dental care. This practice met all my expectations and exceeded a few. I think I found my new Dental home.

Fantastic experience: Smileville is great. Today, I met with Grant (who is new) is fantastic: fast, thorough, friendly, and efficient, taking X-rays and cleaning. Also, Dr. Sharafi was (as usual) a perfect dentist.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Smileville for close to thirteen years and am always happy with the care received. After 21 years of having different dentists for every visit (military) my dental ‘situation’ wasn’t the best and, I had (have) major anxiety when it comes to the drill! Dr Sharafi and team provide truly patient-centered care, tailored to the ‘unique’ needs of the patient. Even throughout COVID, I could always count on being able to receive care at Smileville! Im not the only one in the family who goes to Smileville though. We started our kids there about 14 yrs ago as well. My youngest was very afraid of the dentist after having a pretty traumatic experience at age 8 with a now-retired, pediatric dentist formerly in Springfield. We started her at Smileville with ‘Dr. Mina’ who totally changed her perspective to positive when it came to going to the dentist. :-) My older daughter, and even my husband, also happily receive care at Smileville. Fantastic experience: The reception and checkout staff were extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. My dental assistant Tran was wonderful and explained each procedural step. The dentist was attentive and explained the plan thoroughly. It made a world of difference in my comfort level and I feel l'm in good hands moving forward.

Fantastic experience: The dental hygienist was amazing with my 4 year old and 19 month old. It was their first trip to the dentist, she was so kind and patient with my 4 year old who asked sooo many questions! Both kids happily had their teeth cleaned! They clearly felt her teeth warmth and felt safe. Great first experience!
