Lumos Dental New Haven

Fantastic experience: I go to Lumos twice a year for cleaning. (Been going since they were Levy way back in the day.) Great practice, very nice, experienced people. And while going to the dentist was never what I would consider fun, I actually look forward to my appointments for one reason: Sarah, my hygienist. She is a rock star! And she might be the only person on the planet who could get me to floss. Gentle, personable, she somehow turns what should be a chore into a pleasurable experience. She gets 10 stars on this scale of 5!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jensen was amazing as always, taking the time to explain every detail with great clarity. I especially appreciate Sarah for her extraordinary attention, genuine care, and the wonderful conversations that made the visit even better.

Fantastic experience: Lumos Dental is an amazing office. They have up-to-date (often futuristic seeming) equipment that makes other offices look archaic. Their staff is always helpful, efficient, friendly and kind. My hygienist (Sarah) is in another league from anyone I have ever worked with before. She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, as well as doing the cleanings in a painless and efficient manner, all the while engaging in interesting, helpful and informative discussions. I am always amazed that she remembers details about my family, job, activities and health. Dr. Conboy is the most efficient, funny and artistic dentist I have ever encountered, not to mention, the best! This business should be a model for other organizations to follow in terms of what happens when you hire the best and most passionate people for every position in the organization, and allow them the freedom to be themselves and to do great work. I couldn’t recommend a dentist’s office more highly!

Fantastic experience: First time with Diane, dental hygienist. Diane did a great job cleaning and educating me on how to better clean my implants. Dr. You and Michelle had my new mouthguard ready and did the final adjustments. As usual for everyone i've encountered in this practice they all did an awesome job.

Fantastic experience: I had my usual excellent oral cleaning with the dental hygienist who spent a lot of time helping me with a problem that I am having. The dr came in and continued to help me with my oral problem. They both gave me very helpful ideas to think about. I have been a patient at this practice for about 35 years and I never been disappointed in their care.

Positive experience: Very helpful - needed an urgent visit to repair a filling to ensure the stability of a tooth - and was seen within a week, and the tooth was repaired quickly and painlessly in one visit.

From the start, Lily at the front desk was very friendly and helpful when I was scheduling my appointment via text. When I arrived, she continued to make me feel welcome. Paula, the dental hygienist, was absolutely wonderful - not only was she professional and skilled, but she was also very sweet and took the time to chat with me about my recent move to the city. She even gave me some great recommendations on what to do in New Haven! The X-rays were taken efficiently, and Paula was very meticulous in her work. The doctor was also great, taking the time to examine and chat with me about my teeth. The entire appointment was completed in just 60 minutes, which was impressive. The space looks brand new and is spotless - you can tell they take pride in their office. Overall, I'm so glad I found Lumos Dental - it's definitely going to be my new go-to for dental care. Fantastic experience: I've been a patient at Levy Dental then Lumos Dental since 1973. They have always met my dental needs. My hygienist, Diane, is superb. Most recently Dr. Bogucki and her assistant extracted a loose tooth that was hanging on by a thread. The evaluation including X-rays and the extraction were all done in less than an hour. I haven't experienced any pain and all seems to be healed. I'm delighted with the expertise and efficiency of Dr. Bogucki!

Fantastic experience: I love Lumos. They aren't even in my dental network and I pay extra to come here because everyone is so nice and professional and make the whole experience actually pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Conboy patiently shepherded me from teeth that were more or less a disaster into teeth that are reasonably healthy. This involved 2 years of restorations, extractions, root canals and an implant. I’ve worked with many dentists in my life and this one’s the best - excellent dentists with access to cutting edge tech! They make crowns in house while you wait; even swanky Manhattan dentists I’ve been to don’t have that yet. Also, the front of house team is excellent - they are responsive and helpful. Front of house teams make or break a dentistry practice in my view, and getting to work with this one makes my life as a patient much easier. I strongly recommend Lumos!

My comfort was their top priority, and they were very accommodating to make sure I was having a good experience. My appointment was actually cancelled yesterday (my hygienist was out sick), but they were able to have me come in the next day. Overall, 10/10 experience!

She always answers my questions (I’m a curious person!) and engages. She makes me feel like a VIP! Seriously. Shoutout to the technician who manufactured my crowns on-site. Perfect fit and function. I am so happy with my recent experiences, I had to update this review. Oh, and I cannot forget the front desk (I’m so sorry for not remembering your name right now!) but you’re always a pleasure to see!! Thank you I promise you are in very capable and caring hands, here. —— Good dentists, nice office. Poor patient communication and lack of coordination in office has caused several issues. I have had conversations where different office staff have given different answers and are inconsistent. For example, I had to request a treatment plan several times after being told it was going to be emailed, or someone would follow up. They also didn’t send the receipt after charging my card over the phone as promised. I need this for my FSA. The lack of organization is extremely worrisome and doesn’t reflect well upon the dental professionals and their work. I have also been misgendered at this practice. I have been a patient for several years, and I’m not sure how I feel about this practice anymore. Otherwise, I highly recommend Dr. Conboy.

Fantastic experience: Lumos Dental saved the day this week by accommodating an emergency root canal. The staff was empathetic to the urgency of the situation and handled everything with grace and expert skill.

Fantastic experience: Have been with Lumos for 40+ years. The practice has kept many of the employees over the years and that says a lot for the practice. When Dr. Yu took over nothing changed. They are all very friendly and I trust them with all my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: I am in town traveling for work, and Lumos was able to get me in on a last second call. Literally 20 minutes after I called, they were able to get me in to put the crown on my tooth back in place. They were all amazing, super nice and friendly. This is something I do to understand how people might perceive me. I can confidently say that the team at Lumos exceeded my expectations by treating me with genuine care and respect from the very first visit. They welcomed me as though I were a part of their family, creating an environment where I felt valued and supported. Every interaction was marked by warmth and kindness. From the smiles at the front door to the exceptional hospitality throughout my visits, it felt as though I wasn’t just entering a dental office—I was being invited into their lives.

They have state of the art equipment, the parking is free, and setting an appointment was a breeze. Annette, my Hygienist, was amazing, very knowledgeable in her field, and patient. She made me feel at ease. This was my first visit, let’s see what happens in the future. 3/11/24: went for a follow up cleaning had Annette as my hygienist. She’s wonderful, very attentive to her clients and listens to their needs. She’s very knowledgeable of her work, and efficient. The doctor is awesome a great communicator with her staff as well as the clients being seen. She listens to feedback and provides confirmation to her hygienist while providing additional preventative care, if needed. The staff overall is extremely kind and even gave me an impromptu birthday card. I was not expecting that at all and I’m very thankful for it because it shows they care about their clientele as we take time out of our day to give them our business. Thank you~ you’re appreciated. *update: 2/25/25- had my annual completed by a temp hygienist, didn’t even know this was a thing! Tarjae(Ty) not sure of the spelling but he was amazing. I was nervous at first because I had gone to Annette since I started coming to this practice and unfortunately, she is no longer there but I did put my trust into Ty’ and he was awesome very communicative and knowledgeable, kind, pleasant, and respectful. I would love to make my follow up appointment with him if he’s available, but Lumos Dental has not failed me yet. The schedulers are awesome at keeping in contact with any cancellations, making patients a priority , thank you so much for making my oral health a priority you always hit the mark!~

Fantastic experience: I had a very recent cleaning at Lumos. I have to admit that, for a trip to the dentist's office, I had a great experience. I have all of my dental work done there. At Lumos, they really care about about their patients' dental health, and the care that I've received there to date has been exemplary.

The hygienists and dentists have all been fantastic - I have recommended several friends who also love this office. I didn’t realize that I could actually look forward to my dentist appointments. I’m so grateful to them, and my teeth are in great shape as a result.

Negative experience: A deeply unprofessional practice. I have never been so misled about cost AND received such terrible dental treatment. They have left me in pain and my teeth are way worse off than when I went to them. I wasn’t having any major issues but some minor bleeding during flossing my teeth and so I wanted a deep cleaning, which I’ve gotten multiple times before, but never encountered so much pain during the cleaning as in this office… the pain continued for weeks, and even now, 4 months after the cleaning I have extreme sensitivity in my teeth from how harshly they were scraped and I can feel massive gaps in my gums, my tongue and lip are constantly getting cut from this. The worst part is that they completely misled me about the cost and sprung up additional costs months later. I had said clearly that I was not interested in the cleanings unless my insurance covered some part of it, at which point I was assured by the office that some amount was going to be covered and I was told that my share of the cost for a cleaning would be $619, which I paid. However a month later they informed me that I needed to pay an additional $171 because delta dental insurance didn’t cover any of the procedure. Furthermore I had clearly informed them that I would be out of the country for 3 months and unreachable by phone but could be reached by email. They failed to take note of that and continued to insist that I should have made the payments because they had texted me about it…the only reason I found out about the pending payment they needed from me is because I followed up to confirm that my appointment was still happening… Finally they charged my card but failed to provide me a receipt upon running the card, despite me asking for a receipt immediately.

Fantastic experience: I am always pleased with my experience at Lumos Dental . My hygienist Sarah is very gentle with cleanings and explains how to improve my oral health. She is very good at making me feel comfortable. Dr Bogucki and all of the dentists are very skilled and great at evaluating and treating issues that arise. I highly highly recommend Lumos Dental. I have been a patient my entire life. The entire staff from the minute you walk in the front door meets or exceeds my expectations and this is why I am a patient for life.

Fantastic experience: Great Dental Practice, I've seen a few of the dentist there, for tooth pain, gum surgery, cleanings, crowns, porcelain fillings, implant, bridge and a recent tooth extraction. Im always treated well, courtesy and feel well taken care of. The staff is knowledgeable, thorough, professional and will talk you through any needed service. I would highly recommend Lumous Dental as I always have throughout the year's. I've even received follow up calls from the Hygienist after office hours, to check on me after a few procedures.

Fantastic experience: Truthfully. The young lady who did my deep cleaning was very professional and very, very, nice but I was truly bothered by a statement from one of the staff. I actually been in thought about changing my dental care and I don't want to get anyone in trouble because i'm not like that! I was surprised by a comment but maybe a meeting or email about staff conduct needs to be visited or revisited. Otherwise "I LOVE LUMOS DENTAL"!☺️

I try very hard to loosen her up by telling her she has the most beautiful set of eyes of which she responds with right now i am more interested in your dental.
