Fantastic experience: Meisha was an amazing Hygienist !! I had a 2pm appointment today and she was so knowledgeable, so comfortable, so gentle, she even pushed me to ask questions about visit and aftercare tips (in a friendly way of course). Im so happy to have her apart of my teeth journey. My first experience at this office wasn’t the best, but this visit with Meisha changed ny entire perspective. Thank you so much for being my Hygienist today :)

Fantastic experience: Camron (sorry if I’m misspelling your name) is my hygienist. He is always professional ie : perfectly thorough and explains in clear language what he is doing and what to expect. Yet personable to a degree where he takes time to talk to me about myself comfortably; which I don’t need but I imagine others would be very comfortable with him and enjoy that, as do I. We have much in common. He even sings and hums his soothing music he plays during cleaning as he gets in a zone. The guy has the hands of a surgeon. Clear about billing. Top notch.

Negative experience: I had left a five star review when Dr. Montalvo was here but now that he’s gone, I have to give it a 1. I went in for a cleaning when the provider changed, I thought I’d give them a chance. The experience was not good. The woman told me I would need a bone replacement because I had severe periodontal disease. Naturally, this evoked fear so I only went back to get one filling done while I searched for a new dentist. The filling didn’t hurt, but the lady who was helping was not gentle, was really rough with her tools and not understanding at all. I since then have received two second opinions and I do not need a bone replacement or anything close to that. Also, zero sign of disease. This practice uses fear in order to get business. Which is definitely a thing I have experienced before. There are way better dentists in Tallahassee, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone ever!!!

Negative experience: I hate reviewing people with stars... However... This experience was sub par at best. My first appt went very well. Just a "problem" visit, where they took x-rays, and the dentist said basically that I have a 'food trap' in my molars and as long as I keep it clean, I don't need to fill the cavity. Fine. Scheduled routine cleaning... The hygenist said to me during scheduling that she could fit in a full cleaning in and it was scheduled. Day of the cleaning, they call and say an appt opened up and they can do the full cleaning. *umm.....* They said I was scheduled for just a consultation. Nope... that was false, but I went in. Hygenist does one xray without putting the vest on me. I said 'wait, I need the vest!' She says "oh, the American blah blah agency (probably ADA) says we don't need to put the vest on unless someone is pregnant or uses a pacemaker." I don't care, put the vest on me. They take seriously like 10 x-rays or more. It was excessive. She tells me they want to do an oral cancer screening. Insurance doesn't pay for it. It's standard at this office. I said no to this and she looks at me like I have three heads. (I have literally no symptoms or reasons to believe I'm at risk.) Hygenist did pictures too, and when I spotted a black/gray molar, she literally told me I couldn't see it from a different angle to get a better look at it (the other side of the molar would have been the other angle). I've never noticed it change colors and have no problems with it, so I wanted more info. Finance person comes into the room and explains the fees for the visit after insurance, and asks me to sign the form, which stated I would pay $120-something, even though she just told me there was a mistake from my "problem" visit in billing and my fee for this visit was $43 (I wanted the food trap filled, so it was uncovered by insurance). She still wanted me to sign the mistake bill. I asked her to update it and then bring to me to sign. She did. The cleaning was fine from what I can remember, although the hygenist was weird during the exam, trying to make my oral health seem really bad, when I knew I would need just a routine cleaning. Pushing into my gums with the periodontal tool. She wold push so it actually hurt for a few and ONLY those that hurt she said were #5. No, you pushed into them. The others, even #4, I couldn't even feel in my gums because she slid past them. She did the sealant for the food trap, but that was a whole ordeal. I don't even feel like going into it because it would take several more lines of info. I was not happy, let's say that. When I told her it felt weird, she got the dentist. The dentist said it looked fine, then noticed something and filed it down. Get to the front, and they tried charging me the $120-something!! Good thing I didn't sign for that! Then get to work and eat lunch, and I could no longer feel the sealant AND FOOD GOT STUCK IN THE SAME FOOD TRAP SPOT!! WTH?? I called the office and said that I don't know exactly how this is supposed to feel, but it feels different from when I left the office, and food is still stuck in the tiny spot. The receptionist said she'd give the team the message and I never got a call back. Literally never. So, I have a black tooth in the back and have no idea what caused it or if it will cause harm or pain, a food trap that has sealant next to it and not in it, and to top it off... they sent me a bill for $334!! Don't bother. Go to a mom and pop dental office. I'm new in town and didn't know any better. The dentist was very sweet. Amazing bedside manner, but my appts were not with her, unfortunately.

Negative experience: I went there, and they wouldn't accept my dental insurance even though it was acceptable. It took them about a month to finally accept it and change the bill. I went to get a cleaning done, and they said I had 3 cavities, so I scheduled an appointment to get them filled. That next appointment, they just cleaned my teeth again and never filled the cavities. I had had enough and wanted to get my cavities filled, so I switched to another dentist. This other dentist told me I have 0 cavities. 0 CAVITIES!!! He showed me the X-rays himself, and nothing on his screen appeared to be anything remotely close to a cavity. These people are SCAMMERS, NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I am very happy with my experience at this office. The office staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about Cameron Fountain, he was able to explain everything about what he was going to do in a way that I'm almost certain any one would understand. He went above and beyond my expectations. It has been quite some time since I went to the dentist, and he made this one of the best experiences I have ever had. Based on my visit to Family Dentistry I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Negative experience: I have gone to this office for years. It has always been very hard to reach anyone on the phone and random bills come once in a while out of nowhere when I had thought it had been settled at checkout. There has always been a high turnover with the hygienist, but I stuck with the office anyhow, having no dental insurance, starting over at another practice as a new patient is very expensive. Well, this past visit Takes the Cake. After my previous three cleanings there over a year and a halfperiod of time; that were completely normal.( Low calculus, no bleeding gums, normal pocket depths). They tell me this time my pockets are to deep for a regular cleaning and I need to schedule 4 separate deep cleaning appointments that are incredibly expensive without insurance. Like I said I go to regular cleanings and haven't had a problem at all in recent years. They also always recommend fluoride and sealants which are generally more useful on children. I am 50 years old. The hygienist also can use her cavitron machine to get the majority of any calculus off and then go back with hand tools. I've worked for two separate dentists in the past, alongside hygienist, that use their cavitron machine all the time. The new dentist came in and she never even introduced herself by her name just sat down and started probing. She had horrible chairside manner. Highly unprofessional, I ended up walking out and will never ever go back. I truly believe that people care more about making money than they do about their actual patients these days.

Negative experience: My family and I have been using them for about 5 years. Everything started great, hygienist were nice, front office staff were nice and efficient. Now it's trash. No one ever answers the phone and they billed me incorrectly. It would be a simple fix if they'd answer the phone once in a while. Update. Still, no one is answering the phone, THE NUMBER YOU PROVIDED THAT I CALL. It's too late bill my insurance and now you send me bills.

Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE! Billing does not do their job and will wait a whole year later to send $1200 bill bc no pre-authorizations was sent and performed services without an authorization. Instead of notifying their patient of a balance, they will allow you to schedule appointments and perform services with no regard. So now the patient has to pay for services that would have been covered if an pre-authorization was sent. Their policy states they don't have to contact patients about their balance until is 90 days past due. Oh and if you are not the guarantee, they still won't notify. Just allow you to keep making appts and performing services that are not covered. NEVER EVER AGAIN!

Fantastic experience: Nice clean office with all the most up to date equipment. Aiya (sic) was very professional and courteous. My appointment was for a cleaning, when I arrived they already had me logged in and I did not have to wait at all. Cleaning was quick but very thorough. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 10. Positive experience: Teeth cleaning procedure was great, but the price was not as quoted. It was $44.00 more than expected and didnt include a flouride treatment. Disappointing. It seems this office could use a strong office manager.

Negative experience: They reschedule appointments multiple times and bill for services they don’t provide. After confirming our appointments weeks in advance, we show up and were told our appointments were canceled because no dentists were in the office. There are new hygienists and dentists every time I go. I’m done with this corporate practice.

Negative experience: Told them I never been to the dentist and I need my wisdom tooth extracted. Only made an appointment about my wisdom tooth knowing that I said I’ve never been to the dentist! Told me I only needed one tooth extracted which I already knew because it’s growing out! Referred me to a doctor to get it extracted and the doctor doesn’t even take my insurance. They did reschedule me for everything that should’ve been done today and what I asked for when I called initially 3 weeks ago! I learned nothing and gained nothing today. Disappointing. A complete waste of time. The nurses are extremely sweet and place looks clean but I feel like I wasted 2 hours of my day.

Fantastic experience: Had an emergency broken tooth. I called in the morning, they had me come right in. Dr Garfinkel worked on me between other patients. Before working on me, the dental assistant reviewed all the different options so I could make an informed decision. I will be making them my regular dentist as I havent had one since moving to the area.

Negative experience: It was so uncomfortable, I can’t lie, it was my very first time here, and I walked in not knowing what was really going on with my teeth, after some fidgeting around and taking pictures in my mouth, they slapped me with a 50$ fee for THIS appointment, and also tried to borderline harrass me into choosing an expensive ass plan that I would have to pay over 1,000-2,000 out of pocket, which when I told them I COULD NOT pay for either treatment plan at the time, they still continued to try to force me to choose a plan, I got so overwhelmed and just ended up leaving as soon as I could. I felt weird here. And I kind of don’t recommend it.

Negative experience: Called to make an appointment asking if they take my daughter’s insurance and they said yes. At the appointment with three kids and two under 2 years old they told me that they don’t take my daughter’s insurance. That was my experience with them. It would be more efficient for the office to obtain the insurance information prior to the appointment with a confirmation so mom’s don’t make arrangements to show up at a doctor’s visit 15 minutes early so that they can send her on her way.

Negative experience: So went to them to have t tooth extracted and they numb it and then the dentist told me if he can’t get it out he will send to a specialist that was my first sigh I should have said no thank you and left but I didn’t three hours of pain later still have the tooth in my mouth on the last attempt he said we can stop if I want to and I asked how bad is it going to hurt when the medicine where’s off and he said I can give pain medicine to stop the pain till I see the surgeon well I have an appointment for the surgeon this week for the to see what is going on and then give an appointment to pull the tooth so now I’m out of medicine and the doctor will not give me any more to help with the pain that he caused and should have said I don’t think I can do it so I don’t recommend this dentist to anyone

Negative experience: 5-2025 This place is awful. Staff changes each time one of the 3 of us comes in. Now there are only 2 dentists, in their 20's right out of school and clueless!! Run the other way!! 3/26/2025 I confirmed my son’s appointment with their request online. 3/27/2025 The next day I was left a threatening phone message that if I did not confirm my son’s appointment for a cleaning it would be cancelled. I phoned 10:20 am and spoke with Ms. Jada and confirmed and told her I did not like their attitude or threat of cancellation considering I was the one who scheduled the appointment and have no history of skipping their appointments. The next day we went to his appointment and was told that because I did not confirm they now moved our time up 40 minutes and we ended up waiting an hour past our “scheduled” appointment. As we were checking out I was told that there was a $27 credit so I did not have to pay anything. No one pays for cleanings with insurance so I asked for my credit of $27 that they had never bothered to inform me about and Ms. Jada refused stating because they had not yet been paid for this cleaning? I asked for an accounting of where this and how long ago this credit was on file and was told I would receive a phone call (she said she could not email or mail me a receipt of explanation) with this information. No phone call follow up was made. I am now demanding my $27 credit and will be writing to corporate about this practice.

Positive experience: While they do decent work, they are just as irresponsible as half the other dentists I've had to deal with in this town in the realm of scheduling. It doesn't matter how good at your job you are if you can't schedule. I arrived after verifying my appointment to be told that my appointment had been canceled without notification. I just lost my business $200 in 2 hours due to their irresponsibility.

Negative experience: This used to be a great dentist office, but in the last couple years the service has gone downhill. Appointments for both my husband and me are constantly canceled and rescheduled and most of the time they call the day of to reschedule. When I mentioned this in person, both the technician and front desk staff were rude and full of excuses and blamed me for showing up, this left me feeling very uncomfortable returning for the now again rescheduled cleaning. My appointment turned into a waste of my valuable time that I took off work for after a year of playing appointment tag with them. My husband and I will be finding a different dentist.

Negative experience: Absolute worst customer service. They never return calls. The first issue was with my sealant after my last dental visit - called and asked what I should do and was told they'd check with a doctor and call me back but no one ever did. I called again a few days later and was told again that I'd get a return call but didn't. I ended up having to walk into the office in person to talk to someone, and they tried to send me home to get a call back but I told them I'd already tried that and been waiting over a week for a call. Finally they were able to resolve my question in the office. The next issue is that I've been waiting on Invisalign retainers to come in, which were supposed to be ordered over 6 weeks ago. I don't know if they've actually been ordered or not, but no one has called to let me know if they've come in. I've called to check on them twice and haven't received a response yet again. I've paid for the retainers already but can't seem to get them. Going to try and switch to a new dental office - regardless of how busy an office is, the lack of response to their paying customers is not excusable. *Edited to add that apparently after 8 weeks, not only did they never order my retainers but they have also lost the scans of my teeth.

Fantastic experience: The best Experience with a dental appt that I've ever had! Although I'm going to have to call my insurance provider about a few things, the care that Christine the Dental technician gave was amazing! She was professional,caring,and knowledgeable about all things I asked! She explained everything.! And the doctor after X rays of my mouth., gave me information about some things I had no idea about! Even the girl at the desk helped me understand more about my insurance! What else could one 71 year old lady ask for! Sooo I will be returning with many thanks to all!

Fantastic experience: I had not been to the dentist for over five years so I was a bit apprehensive about my first visit to Family Dentistry at Southwood. My visit went very well. The office was welcoming. Aya did my X-rays and cleaning. She was wonderful! She fully explained every thing she was doing and checked in with me frequently to make sure I was OK throughout the process. She provided me with some great tips about how to improve my oral care. She was very thorough and detail oriented. Lastly, she worked with the front office to make sure I was aware of any payment before she started a procedure. It was a great visit and I will definitely go back on a regular basis! Thanks Aya!!

Fantastic experience: I had a broken tooth that was causing me severe pain, and in only an hour I was out the door with my tooth extracted, feeling so much better. Not to mention, every person I interacted with while I was there had a smile and warm tone. Best dentistry office I've been to in a long time!

Negative experience: I went there 3/5/2025 and that was first and last time! Unprofessional and couldn't even do the work i needed done said I would have to see a specialist for even cleaning as they said they did not have the equipment there and the young Dentist acted like he knew nothing about anything going on there. when I told him I needed new crowns he stated I would need to see a specialist again, leads me to think what do they do? Never again!

Negative experience: It's only getting 2 stars because the people were nice. I made an appt for the following day and when I showed up, they told me there was an issue with their system and my appt had been cancelled. Ok fine, mistakes happen. But it was downhill from there. They do that really sketchy thing where they examine you and then determine "what kind of cleaning" you need. Luckily I qualified for a "regular" cleaning. The dentist told me I had a cavity and they tried to upsell me on this product to halt the cavity (among other upselling attempts). Having zero symptoms plus the fact that I have never in my life had a cavity, I was suspicious. I decided to get a second opinion at my old dentist, out of pocket (I only switched because of insurance changes). It took, no lie, at least 10 phone calls and emails over two weeks (from both me and my old dentists office) trying to get them to send my xrays over. Like??? How are you going to withhold MY xrays. They're literally mine. Oh, and I don't have a cavity. My old dentist says there's slight decalcification which is normal, and coupled with the fact that I'm not prone to cavities it would be "very aggressive" to treat it. I will, obviously, not be back.

Negative experience: I wish I could rate lower. I went to this office one time to get established. At first everything went great. But when it was time to send my x-rays to get the procedure done and set up another appointment there was nothing. I have called and called, left numerous voicemails but have never been able to reach anyone in the office. I would highly advise no one come here. Waste of time.

Negative experience: I know dental insurance doesn’t pay for a ton but after my first appointment with these folks, I had to pay an exorbitant amount on top of what insurance was supposed to cover just for them to do an exam. This didn’t include any services outside of just exam. Then when I left they continued to call and harass me trying to upsell me on multiple different services. Then I also received an additional bill in the mail that did not state what it was for and I completely could not understand since I paid a ridiculous amount of money already. I paid it just to get them to leave me alone but when I went to a different dentist all of the things that they had suggested for my care wasn’t even needed. I highly recommend shopping elsewhere for a dentist! Reading other reviews I know they are going to do a simple silly little pat answer around HIPAA violation etc.… Just know that you want to steer clear of this place!

Negative experience: I do not recommend this practice at all. I’ve been here for years and the dentist I was comfortable with up and left. The new dentist was very uninforming and was rude when I had a few questions about my permanent crown that he was supposed to deliver. I was rescheded 3 times within 7 minutes through txt and phone. They cannot get their facts straight. Finding a new place asap.

Negative experience: Spoke with a "Google assistant" instead of a real person. The system said I was good to go with an appointment time. It was never booked. Go figure. Kind of unprofessional in my opinion. Not impressed by this office.

Negative experience: Be careful with recommended dental work from here. We spent a lot of money. I did not have cavities in 10 years until I came here and then had four. It has been five years since and I have not had another cavity. Two new dentists told me the sealants were unnecessary and did not work for my teeth. My wife was told that she could not have Invisalign and they recommended multiple surgeries and years of treatment before Invisalign. Now we have Invisalign with no extras. The regular cleanings were fine, except recommending us to do dental treatments each time we went in. Just get an extra opinion before agreeing to work and treatments.

Negative experience: The care provided was good, but I did have to wait an hour past my appointment time to be seen. The biggest issue though is the admin staff are not responsive at all. I have left 6 voice mails over the past couple months and I have yet to receive a call back. At the office I was told I paid my balance in full, then I received a bill later with no explanation of why. I have been calling to figure out what the bill is for and what is going on but no one will call me back.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly from the moment i walked in, was immediately greeted by Rose and the other young lady. Rose did my x-rays and was even able to squeeze me in for a cleaning with Myesha who is also great! I saw the doctor briefly but he seemed nice enough. They offered me a blanket and some water which was a plus! Found my forever dentist place lol

Negative experience: I thought I would give him one more chance, and they did not let me down. I called first thing Monday morning, by 6:00 p.m. as of Monday evening I never heard back from them. I guess it's time to move on My wife likes them so much she made me an appointment. I called to verify the appointment and I had to leave a message. A week later they still have not returned the phone call. Today they called my wife to confirm her appointment, when she asked to confirm my appointment they told her they did not have me listed. So based on my dealings with their front office I am forced to give them a one star. My wife agrees with the one star rating, although she would give the dentist a 5+ rating star rating. Unfortunately, if the front office cannot do their job, then cannot I see the dentist in order to give them a rating. Once I was able to get through the front office issues and let them work on my teeth I have raised my rating to 5 stars. Very efficient and friendly staff and great job doing Dentistry!! Drop one star, the front office leaves a bit to be desired. A year later: New management and the front office is horrible, they do not return phone calls, they double bill and mess up the insurance. It is a shame I have gone from rating them at 5 stars down to a 1 star.

Fantastic experience: I went in for a routine cleaning and had the best dental cleaning experience ever! Cameron the dental hygienist did an amazing job! He was extremely thorough and ensured that I was comfortable throughout the process. Dr. Garfunkel did an incredible job fixing two of my teeth that were chipped. I had never had dental work done other than routine cleanings. He made the entire process comfortable and constantly checked in with me to make sure I was okay. Also, he did an amazing job of fixing my teeth and they look great!

Positive experience: Seems easier to talk with a live person which is good. Called to reschedule a cleaning cancelled due to hurricane. Luckily could come in that day with less than hour notice. Rushed to appointment After 15 minutes wait suggested reschedule. Hygienist able to take me within 5 minutes. Hygienist is excellent. Disappointment lies with front office that had filled slot with me. Seems like hygienist not notified.

Fantastic experience: I accidentally removed a crown while flossing last night. I called to see if I could get appointment and they told me to come right in. Dr.Khalil was fantastic. He shared some of his personal story and gave a bunch of solid advice on a business topic. DA-Kristen was thoughtful, measured, professional as always. She is absolutely fantastic, best I’ve seen. Love this place. While I am not planning on removing any more teeth….I certainly look forward to future visits. I know that I am in good hands.

Positive experience: The office is clean, efficient, friendly. I feel i got good, professional help. However, on this visit i found that my regular dentist, and the backup I had seen in emergency, were no longer at Family Dentistry. I felt this was a gross oversight on Family Dentistry’s part. I choose my health care providers particularly. Therefore, I was taken advantage of in this situation.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. My teeth are horrible because of the level of service provided. Traumatized from my last appointment from a drill bit coming loose and hitting me. And why have I paid $8,000 for such horrible dental work. Cancel appointments without asking, make new appointments without asking and blame it on a third party vendor. I could go on and on.

Positive experience: Overall good experience (for a dentist visit lol). Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. My hygienist (Myeisha - not sure if im spelling that right?) was excellent. She was gentle but thorough, provided education, communicated well, and monitored me closely, offering breaks when I needed one. I will say, they're not the cheapest dentist I've ever been to .... but they're not the most expensive either. And frankly, I think we can all agree that most dental insurance leaves a lot to be desired in terms of coverage -- that's not the fault of the provider. Myeisha (sp?) did an excellent job in disclosing costs if she found something was needed or might be of benefit. I believe she'd be great at "upselling" and should consider a career in sales should she ever decide to leave dentistry (P.S. - Myeisha, I know a guy ) lol. My only disappointment is that my previous dentist there is no longer with them, and I didn't get to meet either of the new dentists during my visit. I hope to meet whichever one is assigned to oversee my treatment plan at my next visit.

Negative experience: Appointment was canceled and I had to call and reschedule myself. In the middle of my procedure it was discoved that the financials were never discussed ahead of time. You can feel negative tension from the employees. Not a friendly work environment.

Positive experience: The wait time was terrible. Appointment was noon. We arrived 10 min early for our appt, but were not called back for the appt until 12:45pm. We have been patients of Southwood Family Dentistry for 5 years now and this long wait time has never happened before. Not sure what was different this time, but would appreciate that in the future our time would be respected like it has been for the past 5 years.

Negative experience: I have been a patient at Southwood Dentistry for several years and was surprised to arrive for my cleaning appointment to find that the 2 dentists I was familiar with are gone and a new one has taken over the practice. My usual hygienist was also no longer there. I arrived 10 minutes early as requested but still wasn't called until 20 minutes past my appointment time. The cleaning progressed normally with the hygienist praising my care of my teeth and advising me on some areas that needed more attention. She then suggested fluoride treatment (not covered by my insurance) and sealants on my molars (also not covered by insurance as it is a treatment usually done on children). I am a Certified Dental Assistant and knew that these treatments were not necessary in a 71 year old woman with good oral hygiene, so I refused both. I am posting this so that others might be aware of the current practices at this office.

Fantastic experience: Was able to get an appointment quickly and was seen at my scheduled time. Miesha was our hygienist and was very patient and informative. This was my daughter's 1st cleaning after having her braces removed. Very impressed with the entire visit.

Negative experience: Very disorganized! Spoke to three people the last two days trying to confirm my insurance. Then the third person called me back today and told me that I have not spoken to anyone in the office about the insurance. That was the last straw so I canceled my appointment. If they’re this disorganized, I don’t trust them taking care of my teeth.

Fantastic experience: I haven’t been to the dentist in 5 years and I was extremely embarrassed! But this office is the absolute sweetest! They keep it real and you can tell they look out for the patients! I loved India my dental hygienist who made time to clean my teeth I might add. And Dr Zimma (I hope I’m spelling it right sorry doc) for making me an entire treatment plan in one visit! Yall are awesome

Negative experience: They scheduled me for a new patient appointment many months ago. The appointment was supposed to be this week, but they apparently determined at some point that they needed to cancel it and that it cannot be rescheduled because a dentist is leaving the practice. Only they never bothered to tell me... I only found this out after calling multiple times until getting a live person, since they didn't return my voicemail either. Now I'm months overdue for a cleaning and scrambling. Much appreciated Family Dentistry!

Fantastic experience: Staff was friendly, professional, and caring. They are very convenient for me. Took care of all my needs in one appointment. As a busy mom of 5 amd working full-time, time is precious for self-care.

Fantastic experience: I was seen promptly and the hygienist was courteous, professional and friendly. I was disappointed that I was not able to see the dentist to discuss the results of my Xrays and hope that the practice soon hires Dr. Jones' replacement.

Fantastic experience: As a senior who had been forced to forgo dental services for a number of years, I was very troubled in choosing my dentist here in Tallahassee. Googling reviews was very discouraging and extremely time consuming. I was pleased to review both Dr. Jones and Dr. Montalvo at Family Dentistry at Southwood. If you are worried about pain and any other dental concerns you will definitely want to make an appointment at this office. The office is spotless, the waiting room is inviting (refreshments provided), and the office staff are friendly, professional, and enthusiastic. Dr. Montalvo was very personable, down to earth, encouraging, and confident he could give me back my smile. First, he had his more than capable hygenist, India, tidy up years of neglect. Her gentle touch and concern confirmed my feeling that I had made the right choice. My next appointment with Dr. Montalvo was where the rubber meets the road. He had to remove 6 teeth and then place the upper partial that was waiting at the office upon the removal of the teeth. No pain injecting the Novacaine, no pain removing the teeth and no pain when the partial plate was placed. I had expected serious pain during this process and couldn't believe it when I woke up the next morning and still had no ( O) pain. A week later I came to the office for a minor adjustment that Susanne, Dr. Montalvo's fabulous assistant was able to easily adjust because of her previous perfection in planning the partial plate. At this point, I have to say that this has been the most incredible denral experience, I have ever had in my 73 years. If you are unsure or scared at all about your next dental procedure, do yourself a favor and call Family Dentistry at Southwood and ask for Dr. Ray Montalvo. If he is too busy, his partner Dr. Victoria Jones is equally as gifted.

Negative experience: This place has tremendously gone downhill! Patient of nearly a year now and the service/experience recieved when I first came in versus now has made this place unrecognizable. I'm not sure if there was a change in management but the staff no longer even appears to want to be there. They no longer communicate with us patients regarding when appointments are being scheduled and they no longer provide any level of good customer service! You can't ask questions pertaining to your dental hygiene or treatment without being brushed off, ignored, or dismissed. If it wasn't for being mid treatment, I'd change dentist locations IN A HEART BEAT!
