Negative experience: I absolutely love the office. Dr Scott is magnificent!! However, don't try to get in touch with the billing office for a refund of a credit it you have one!! I have been trying for about 6 months with no luck!!!! The billing office is very unprofessional!

Positive experience: Everyone was knowledgeable and provided a pleasant experience. However, the appointment takes quite a while.

Fantastic experience: My appointment at Mahan Dental on September 30, 2025 was for X-rays and cleaning. Hygienist Brenda serviced me and her experience in the profession really impressed. She was quite knowledgeable and very professional. Also, her thoroughness and politeness were key as well. Brenda picked up on a few concerns which I didn’t even mention. She figured it out! Dr. Cole came in and confirmed all that applied to me during my appointment. Thanks so much ladies!

Negative experience: Worst dentist ever. Had a root canal done and cap that wouldn't stay on. All they want to do is charge you for things they didn't get right the first time. Ended up going to another dentist and they said the root canal was half way done, which they properly fixed. After the crummy service and money I wasted, I would never go back to this dentist. About a week worth of time wasted and around 2000$ wasted.

Fantastic experience: My dental journey post Covid has been a frustrating process. From poor customer service to surprising charges, and condescending comments, I was literally done looking for a dentist office in Tallahassee. I seriously spoke to someone to go oversees. Thankfully my niece recommended Mahan Village after listening to my frustrations. I literally almost cried in the office y’all! Everyone was kind and professional, especially Pamela! She was my hygienist and explained everything so well. She did not overreact or make condescending comments at all. I have been very insecure about my dental health for a while. Finally, a professional and welcoming dental environment! As if that was not enough, the doctor comes in and adds the cherry on the top! Dr. Scott came in, shook my hand, and gave me a scripture expressing that we were going to forget what was behind and move toward our goal! If you need a welcoming and professional space, this is it! Needless to say, my daughter and I have found our new dental home! Y’all better hurry up because I’m gonna tell everyone I know about this place! Thank you Mahan Village for being the standard of care!

Fantastic experience: I went in for a tooth emergency because I get in to a regular dentist office. The staff were friendly /and took great care of me. Dr Scott is a god send. I’m afraid of needles and reassured me that I was going to be care of and he did just that. The staff is very caring and compassionate toward their clients and you don’t find that often. Let’s just say I’m switching my family over to Mahan Village Dental Care

Fantastic experience: I have been going to doctor Scott and his Ladies since before they moved it's been atleast since 2012 and I love everyone there. It's like a family there they even came to my baby shower. I will continue going there. I can finally smile thanks to doctor Scott,Charlene,Nicole and Ms.Brenda. Positive experience: Office staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The issues that keeps it from being 5 stars is the poor time management and lack of open communication with the patient when time schedules are not functioning in a timely manner or service providers availabilities change. To be expected to wait 40mins before being seen, without proactive communication, is outlandish, insensitive and inconsiderate of patients. Lastly, being scheduled for a crown and being told the day of that the doctor is not in and able to do it but a student will perform it, not good; not ok.

Positive experience: I have only visited once but so far, I am happy I chose this dentist office. The customer service I received was good. I felt like they took their time servicing me which I loved. I understood the treatment plan they created for me and I liked that they had pictures to show me since I am a visual person. This visit was the first time I left a dentist office knowing exactly what I need done and not feeling like they were trying to get over on me. I also liked that both dentists are black and a father and daughter duo. The office was clean and big. They have a lot of up to date technology that helps them perform their duties to the best of their ability. Fingers crossed that I continue to receive good service at this office. The only negative experience I received so far is I waited two months for an appointment only to be told that they scheduled me on a day that the office would be closed so I had to wait two more months to be seen. Also the day before my appt, they called me saying my insurance was invalid which it was not. They had wrote the wrong info down. I’m glad we got that corrected but they definitely should check a patient insurance ahead of time not the day before their appointment. So if a problem do occur, it could be handled in a timely manner.

Negative experience: Deeply disappointed in the appointments process. Despite having emails and multiple phone numbers, the office failed to record an appointment established four months earlier because a clerk had mistyped ONE of the phone numbers. Despite having multiple avenues for reaching us, the office did not bother to call the other numbers or try to reach us by email. When we called to confirm, we were told that the appointment was cancelled because they couldn't reach us, and that we would receive a follow up call by close of business that day to reschedule. Six days later, we decided to go with an office that returns phone calls and follows up as promised. Mahan Village Dental Care may be the greatest dentists to ever drill a tooth, but their administrative staff is among the worst I have ever encountered.

Fantastic experience: I was dreading going to a new dentist. Crystal was amazing and so gentle during the cleaning and Dr. Scott was such a blessing during two extractions! Everyone in the office is amazing and friendly! You can’t go wrong with Mahan Dental Clinic!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Cole and Gabby were great. I had a crown repaired and that tooth and another prepped for a permanent bridge yesterday. My mouth has no soreness today. When I became fatigued during the procedure Dr. Cole and Gabby gave me a break.

Negative experience: The doctor that I was to see for my comprehensive check up was scheduled to be off that day I scheduled for a cleaning which went extremely well. The hygienist was wonderful, but the Doctor Who saw me in the place of the doctor I had the appointment with , Did not do a good check up the check up from the doctor was poor. He barely looked in my mouth and misunderstood the x-ray

Negative experience: I honestly was debating on not writing this review. As I usually go on here to provide positive feedback. However, today is not the case. As my scheduled cleaning turned into a 2 hours waste of my time. I had a scheduled cleaning and was suppose to be my first. Prev checked months to have my prev dentist send my X-rays and records. But as I arrived on time, due to all the bombarding automated text msgs I had received the days prior. I checked in, was not even properly greeted by front office staff. Then was told that I DO have a scheduled appointment of dental cleaning but then they did not assign me a dental hygienist. Then front desk staff proceeded to ask me who scheduled me? How would I remember? They did the scheduling. They told me then to wait as today I would only be getting my X-rays done. This wait turned into an hour then an extra 20 mins. NONE of the front office girls apologized for their scheduling mistake or lack of.. the only people who shared any ounce of kindness was Dental Asst Crystal B. Who did my X-rays and Dr. Scott who identified what I needed done. All in all, still disappointing. So a word of caution to others, looks good on the outside but customer service in front office staff was highly lacking. Double check your appointments.

Fantastic experience: All I can say is the professionalism and dedication is obvious and will impress anyone coming for the first time like me! Negative experience: Extremely disappointed in this practice. I scheduled an appointment here almost five months ago and gave them my insurance information over the phone at the time of scheduling. The day before my appointment, I received two calls from them in the span of two hours while I was moving out of my apartment. Once I finally checked my phone, I received a text from them at 2:30 pm stating that my appointment for the next day was cancelled because I hadn’t responded to their call two hours prior. Mind you, they called about 7-10 days ago and I confirmed my appointment at that time. This is absolutely no way to run a practice. The office staff has poor communication skills and terrible service to patients. Absolutely will not be rescheduling here.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday was my first visit to Mahan Village Dental, and I am so thrilled with my experience. I’m an anxious dental patient, and Aubrey is SUCH an incredible hygienist. She was patient, kind, thorough and overall exceptional. The practice was so busy during my appointment, and she triaged beautifully and professionally while also making sure I was cared for. She made what I thought would be a terrifying experience into a calming one. I’m very grateful!

Negative experience: The only thing the staff was concerned with was how good my insurance was & when they found out that the procedure I needed was not covered their attention quickly turned away from me. They did make sure to get take advantage of what was covered which in the end had no effect on my outcome. If you are wealthy this is the place to be. I was totally disappointed, I choose the wrong place for someone struggling to make it.

Negative experience: the receptionist with an attitude was my tech. your practice appeared clean, professional and efficient as did you dentist. I lost a front tooth and was told you could not see me again till the end of november. further, that was just another full consultation not treatment. when I asked questions about the timeline and procedure which would leave me cosmetically impared for a long time, the dentist said you were a busy practice but she would try to expedite. the tech told me about my coverage only being for 1 tooth. I let all know I could pay and wanted the quickest possible resolution. the next date I was given was march? when I asked if u did not want to treat me I was told november got filled. no procedure was permitted and I left very upset with a missing front tooth. at my husband's suggestion, I call united healthcare that apologized for seeing me monday because of the hurricane. you were select for convenience. it was more than a disappointing experience.

Negative experience: "What is incredibly frustrating is being abruptly interrupted and put on hold without any courtesy or warning. A simple ‘excuse me’ or ‘let me put you on a brief hold’ would go a long way, but the rudeness is blatant. While the doctor and some of the assistants are excellent, certain members of the staff, particularly in the billing department, have a way of turning a positive experience into a negative one with their communication. Their condescending tone can make you feel insulted, as if you're being treated like you don't understand basic information. After being a patient for over four years, I’ve decided I will not be returning. It's not about the money—it’s about the lack of customer service. There are many other offices where simple respect is part of the experience. I don’t mind paying for services, but it’s disappointing when asking a sincere question is met with such dismissiveness. I’ll also be advising my clients and customers to avoid this office due to the poor treatment I’ve encountered."

Fantastic experience: 1st time there was a little rough but I enjoy going now. It took an extra long time the 1st initial visit but all the staff are nice and accommodating.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful experiences in this office. Had to wait well over an hour for my appointment. Then went back for fillings only to be told my appointment had been canceled but no one reached out to reschedule it. Had to reach out about a billing question, was told a manager would call me back. Never received a return call. Was told multiple times on my first visit "Its better to text than call." Sorry but that's not the way a good business operates. I will never be returning to this highly disorganized office.

Fantastic experience: When I first moved to Tallahassee my greatest concern was to find a new dentist, I had been with my previous dentist for many years. But, Good is good I was lead to Mahan Village Dental Care and my first visit was fenomenal. The office is very pleasant and the front desk staff are very professional. Pamela is very knowledgeable and friendly made sure to make me feel comfortable during my visit and provided all the information I needed. Dr. Scott welcomed me with a big smile and did a very thorough examination. My next visit was scheduled promptly by Pamela who will continue to be my dental hygienist. I am very happy with my overall experience at Mahan Village Dental care.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient on Mahan Dental for many years. My experience this past visit was excellent as always. The front desk staff was professional, my hygienist Aubrey was the best. She explained everything she was doing and is a consummate professional. Dr. Scott as always is a grat dentist

Negative experience: The visit took toooooo looonng. Too much wait time for finance to be called come in and collect payment. When finance personnel came in, she began talking BEHIND my back? I asked "should I turn around?" Then, it was a problem with your card reader. I had to EVENTUALLY write a check. EXTREMELY too much time to get prescription and post extraction instructions!!!! Dr. Scott only took 90 seconds or less to extract two tooth. Why was I in the office WELL over two hours. The music was too loud too stimulating! I asked for headphones and was told they walked off" I would LOVE to have Gospel music playing!! It was too much talk over me, a patient, saying HOW/WHAT they told whomever they were gonna be off Friday

Negative experience: I give Mahan one star because I cannot post if I give them zero or I would. I had an abscess and a bad tooth. I attended and was given about 11 shots of novacaine to facilitate the extraction of of the tooth. I was then put on nitrous for a good while. After all this the dentist began to physically pull My fractured tooth out. However the pain was too much. He told me the tooth was pressing on the abscess and pulled it gently slightly to erase it. However he referred Me to an oral surgeon stating I needed to be under full sedation to have the extraction. One of the medical team there informed Me that the abscess was preventing the novacaine from having any effects. I was prescribed anti biotics and pain killers and sent on My way. That afternoon found me in the ER where a doctor examined My tooth and abscess. He told me he has landed many of them but mine was too small. I was given a drip of antibiotic. The ER doctor asked Me if I had any anti biotics. I showed him the ones that the dentist had prescribed Me. He said they weren't strong enough and told Me to continue the course of them. He also prescribed Me what he called the "atom bombs" of anti biotics. I completed both courses and the abscess was completely gone. I called mahan and made an appointment with the intention of finally getting My tooth extracted. I attended 20 minutes early. I sat in the dentist chair awaiting the dentist. Instead a young lady dental assistant came in and said to Me very nervously that the dentist can't pull My tooth. I asked her why not and related my tale. She was increasingly nervous and fidgety. I asked her what I am supposed to do to get My tooth extracted pointing out this is now my 3rd month of attempting to get it done. She recommended I go to two other clinics that are used by homeless people. In so doing she told Me again that the doctor said I needed to see an oral surgeon. I now have to find transport to take Me all the way to Perry in Florida to have My tooth treated. My dental insurance doesn't cover Me for anywhere in Tallahassee. I had also been told initially that once My bad tooth was extracted Mahan clinic would work with Me and my health insurance to give Me the smile I want.

Negative experience: I've gone to previous dentists for routine cleanings my whole life, all of which told me I had perfect teeth and excellent hygiene. I go here, and they tell me I have TWENTY cavities, needed Botox in my jaw, and Invisalign ... you just have to laugh at that point. Clearly a money suck! I went to a new dentist a month later, and they told me it was insane that they would suggest that. Every time I went, I would be waiting at least 30 mins longer than when my appointment was supposed to start. I've had appointments cancelled last minute. Oh, and they never transferred my information over when I requested it for a new dentist office. They have nice staff members, but that's about it. They need to make some SERIOUS changes.

Fantastic experience: Excellent & friendly staff!! I usually HATE going to the dentist, but they all went out of their way to truly make sure my experience was a great one (to include the Dentists). The work they've done has been great & the equipment used has been state-of-the-art. I'm SO thankful I found them!!

Negative experience: Drove quite a long ways at the suggestion of a current patient. After filling out 6 or 7 pages of paperwork, they call me over to go over the cost. I am there for an exam, x-rays & cleaning. Same insurance for years but with them it's somewhere around $150 (I don't remember exactly). I ask why, they are charging me 50% of x-rays, when I say something, they then charge me 20%. They had me paying a deductible of $50, I say something & he takes it off. This is 2024 and I know they can see my insurance info plus some. Then I'm told they do a cancer screening that isn't covered by insurance and I have to pay 100%. I don't want a cancer screening (nor is it deemed necessary or beneficial by my insurance company). She has me wait while she goes back and talks to the hygienist and comes back many minutes later saying that it's "non-negotiable". That I have to pay that now and every year thereafter. What a crook! They would not see me because I didn't want the cancer screening they were forcing up on me. This shouldn't be allowed by any dentist but any dentist that hinges your visit on a non-covered procedure and your declination of said procedure is unscrupulous. Beware!

Negative experience: Worst dental office ever! I went there for a cleaning and to have my teeth examined. The dentist recommended I had a few cavities filled. Was told I would be given a call back for the price here it is almost a month later and still no call! They don’t pick up the phone so good look trying to get ahold of somebody. Still waiting on my call back hopefully I won’t have to pull out this tooth

Negative experience: I called in December (6 months ago) to make an appointment to be seen. They said May was the soonest and I received similar answers from other offices so I said that was okay. I call today to confirm the appointment I was supposed to have today for them to tell me my appointment was cancelled for some unknown reason and no one reached out to me about it. The resolution was that they "might" have availability soon. Insane and unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: March 2024 I began my Invisalign journey! BB the dental hygienist was amazing. She attached my attachments with ease and comfort. She was patient and informative. My visit was awesome! Oh yea she even called me later that day to ask how I was adjusting to my first tray. Thank you BB you will always be remembered as the one who started my Invisalign journey.
