Fantastic experience: The TFD staff was so helpful after I had experienced some toothache and scheduled a quick exam for me to determine what might be wrong. When I arrived, the front desk folks were very pleasant. The dental assistant who greeted me and escorted me back to the exam room was very nice and thorough in taking X-rays and photographing the potentially affected teeth. She very clearly explained what was shown in the photos. Dr. Schlecht then came in and reviewed the photos with me, showing what was going on in the affected area, and in an area that we had identified as a condition to “keep an eye on”. She explained the recommended treatment for the affected teeth and answered all of my questions about the procedure - I felt that I was in very good hands with the entire staff at TFD and will be returning to have them remedy my tooth issue. My wife and I are very happy to be patients with this practice, and we highly recommend them!!

Fantastic experience: Love this place! The people are great, my teeth are no longer in pain, and I always feel welcome! Backstory, I have a history of bad experiences with dentist who treat you like a numbered pin cushion. I started going to TFD last year when I couldn’t stand the pain after 6 years of avoiding the dentist. Going to TFD was nerve wrecking, pun intended, but they made it a great experience! Since last year I’ve had one root canal/crown procedure, a few fillings, and three more crowns added from my previous neglect. I’m looking forward to improving my smile with them. I no longer have to worry about which side of my mouth to eat on, drinking cold beverages, or smiling with my teeth. 20/10 experience and totes recommend!

Fantastic experience: My kids have been coming here for a few years now and have loved it. It's always a friendly and welcoming staff. They take the time to remember you and the conversations you have had which helps give that personal touch. It seems that everyone some how knows someone around there because of the locality to schools and the small local areas which also helps add that little extra. We love coming here and feeling like we picked up where we last left off, never having to correct or fill in on the situation. Thank you everyone and thank you Dr. Amethyst!

Negative experience: I wish there would be 2 ratings - 1 for dental work and 1 for billing department. Because dentists good, but billing people are completely different story. This place was recommended to me by my colleague. When I deal with dentist, it was nice and pleasant experience and I would say they know what they are talking about. Then you will get completely opposite feelings after dealing with billing department. I asked Scott how much total bill is going to be prior my son's wisdom teeth removal visit, so I have that amount on me. When It was done, my bill jumped from $500 to over $900. He explained that he gave me bill per tooth and not total before. Then he tried to bill me for consultation, which was free with my insurance. I asked to print my visit bill, and found out extra charge for X-ray, that wasn't done in this visit. After calling my insurance and getting info, I left message for Scott. He never returned my call. I worked for tax administration, so I love to do audit. In today's visit I tried to ask about extra charge . He seemed very irritated by that and said that it was x-ray that was done in prior visit. Then after I explained insurance covered that x-ray, then he said "do you want me charge you for it". But he did charge me for it already! I couldn't continue arguing anymore, my son got called inside. Either billing department have incompetent people working there, or they are cheating customers with insurance. I would love to meet with owner and have a talk about it. Because my next step would be Department of insurance fraud.

Negative experience: Would not recommend this place to aaaannyone. They are sketchy and I’ve been treated pretty rudely overall. Had a very expensive crown done that they said my insurance covered (after I got it done I find out it wasn’t covered at all). The crown didn’t last as long as they told me at all, it kept popping off my tooth. In the first 6 months it popped off. I went in to get it glued back on for a second time and was told that my root canal was done wrong by my previous dentist and the tooth was decaying and this is why the crown won’t stay on So they put an extremely expensive crown on a rotting tooth??? So now they don’t ask me, they TELL me I need to get an implant and try to schedule it. Lol funny. I said absolutely not I’m getting it pulled. that rotting tooth in my mouth that the dentist literally said “this is all mush”?? They made me wait 3 months to have it pulled and cleaned out. One of the Worst experiences of my life. Front desk lady was super rude as well and the lady who runs the billing. It’s not hard to just be a decent human and be civil! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

Positive experience: I really like Dr Amethyst, but the atmosphere is kinda rushed sometimes, but I understand because they're busy. If you don't cancel your appointment on time or no show, the receptionists will basically scold you and say the hygienist had set time aside for you. That shocked me because she wasn't very friendly about it. Also, none of the front desk people smile ever or greet you. You could be standing there at the desk for a couple minutes while 3+ people are staring at their computers and ignoring you, until one of them finally says something like "can I help you?". It would be so much better if someone just said "we will be with you in one moment" or something. It makes me feel extremely unwelcome and like I am a bother to their time, and my time as a patient is not important. And this is not just a few times, it's every time. I would go somewhere else, but I don't want the hassle of changing dentist offices.

Negative experience: extremely rude staff. went in this morning just to ask if our insurance was accepted, when i wasn’t the rude girl at the front desk said “no but you can try this office.” which i appreciated her giving me options. but after she said that i was still leaning on the counter about to walk out, when she turned and looked back at me and said “the door is that way” and pointed to their front door. being the first face you see as you walk in a business, that was a very rude comment. if their receptionist are that rude, i can’t imagine how rude the rest of their staff is.

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and amazing work! My whole life I have had a hard time with going to the dentist… part of the reason I need to go so badly. Explained my issues, and they made accommodation for me and actually made it a pleasant experience. First time I actually left the dentist in a good mood, after a root canal! I was really surprised that they were able to do the whole procedure without any of my issues popping up.

Negative experience: Disappointed with service. Regret getting new crown! Appt made 3 weeks after order did not fit came in with gap that my old one had. It was supposely stat but arrive same time frame as previous one. As of 1/27 have not been able to be fitted in for an appt even tho it was not my mistake! I care fir my mom in Bakersfield called today be fitted in Thurs or Friday nope not even willing to fit me in if there is a cancel. Disappointing service 6 weeks on a temporary crown wow! After thus looking for new dentist office poor customer service!!!

Negative experience: I wasn’t impress at today’s visit. My cleaning cleaning lasted for only 30 minutes and she didn’t floss my teeth, also the lady was measuring by herself, touching the computer, the pen and then my mouth going back and forth. I was extremely nervous. She probably touches other patients using the same pen or computer mouse. I might look for another dentist.

Negative experience: My husband had an appointment today! It was not our first time there. We have been multiple times actually and were quoted an amount for dental work. We agreed to the amount and continued on with the services. Today was my husband’s 3rd appointment there and the billing\scheduling person gave us a completely different quote after our appointment was over the price went from $200 to $662! I asked if that was for all the work and she stated the wrong insurance was plugged in to our account and it is now corrected, but I told her shouldn’t whoever did the billing should have caught this? I am in shock because it’s a huge price difference and we were told this after the 3rd visit! I called to speak with someone more higher and Scott advised they can charge $1000 if they wanted to without speaking to the actual Dentist. I found this funny and hope this gets to a manager or one of the Dentist of the office before our next visit! So they can correct the billing department! Hopefully things like this get fixed before they get more bad reviews. Dentist and back staff are amazing!

Positive experience: I’ve been dreading and postponing a much needed route canal. I wish the dental hygienist were more experienced. I had several pokes and she couldn’t get to where she needed. This created a lot of anxiety for me going into an already nerve racking situation. The Dr was amazing and really read my body cues. He listened to my worries and made sure I was numb numb before proceeding. Throughout the process he was mindful and constantly asked if I was okay. He was good at laying out how long it would take, and when the worse was over. I’d like to report it was a pain free route canal and would highly recommend their specialist!
