Fantastic experience: I had an AMAZING experience with the team at Midtown Dental. From my initial phone call inquiring about their clinic and getting my appointment to having Dr. Wheat complete the procedure on my tooth. I love that the facility was immaculate, and they had some very up to date equipment. Ms. Alice was very professional and she was very good at her job. ABSOLUTELY, the best Dental visit that I’ve ever had. Thanks to the entire staff.

They are timely and efficient at their jobs, and foster a welcoming and respectful environment for us, patients. I found Dr. Straus online and was attracted to the office because of the amazing reviews people in the community had to say about him and his staff. My husband and I go here currently, and we are in the process of having our 11 year old switch to come here as well.

My hygienist did an especially great job of letting me know about the process and where we were in the process. She is very professional and I appreciate it when she cleans my teeth.

Negative experience: No emergency dental service available! I arrived at the appointment in pain and they could not help me. They could not even give me a range of prices for a simple filling to be done in the front of my mouth so I wouldn't loose a tooth and a hole in my mouth at work. They wanted me to pay the $150 x-ray and exam fee and hope for the best, ridiculous. They could not ask the doctor if he could do it that day and they could not give me a range of prices for cash payment. In pain, I just drove to Atlanta to an emergency dental place to give them $800 cash to fix this simple cavity with a filling so my smile line in the front of my mouth would not be ruined.

Negative experience: I visited Midtown Dental Care due to extreme tooth pain. I was quoted a price over the phone as a self-pay patient, but when I arrived, the front desk didn’t know how much to charge me. I actually had to tell them the amount I was originally quoted. That already felt disorganized, but I stayed for the appointment. During the visit, I was told my tooth was beyond saving and would need to be extracted. I asked about other options like a root canal or filling, but was told those would only be temporary and that extraction was inevitable. I wasn’t given much explanation about the procedure or recovery, and no medication guidance was provided either. I left without scheduling the extraction because I wanted to talk it over with my husband. I called back later that day to schedule, but also requested a callback to go over my questions. After leaving three messages over the next 10 days, as I was trying to be patient, I never received a response. I eventually canceled my appointment because I felt uneasy and unheard. Only after canceling did I get a call back, within the hour. I ended up seeing another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out, my tooth is completely saveable, and I’ll be getting a root canal. I’m relieved I trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion. I can’t recommend Midtown Dental based on my experience. It felt rushed, dismissive, and lacking in communication and clarity.

Positive experience: The 3 stars have nothing to do with Dr. Wheat. He was thorough and professional. Very caring. The 3 stars are in relation to not being completely transparent. My out of pocket expense was more than $300 from original quote. Do to incorrect insurance coverage. I should have been notified in advance before coming to the office. Also, I was not informed that the original Dentist I saw, would not be performing the work, until after I was placed in a chair and asked then if I was ok with seeing Dr. Wheat. None of these actions are acceptable.

I called Midtown Dental and voiced my slite discomfort.I was made an appointment in less than 24 hours ☺️ Even though the Ortho staff was confident that retainer was perfectly in place, she thought it would be best to see me in person. Well, she was right! Everything was properly place. Long story short. Transitioning from Invisalign to a retainer was a new experience for me.. I felt a little silly about overthinking the situation. We were seen (all four of us!!) very quickly after arrival, even though my new patient paperwork wasn't done yet. We were treated with kindness and compassion the entire time, and absolutely no judgement from them for me being a frazzled mom. My children (toddler and preschool age) were handled gently, and my husband and I were given our treatment plans with thorough explanations of what and how we should proceed, and every single question I had was answered thoroughly and with patience. I am very happy to be a patient here.
