Fantastic experience: Update 9/15/25 - 5 Stars Went in today for my twice a year cleaning & checkup. Pedro was my tech and this is the 4th time I've had him for one of these - he is GREAT - very thorough and comprehensive - he always explains in meticulous detail what he is accomplishing and takes great care with those SHARP dental instruments! Entire mouth looks and feels GREAT when finished and while I can't say I look forward to these semi-annual procedures, I am always glad I did them walking out of the office - well done! ********** Update 2/5/25 - 5 Stars Went in today to complete work on two implants. From arrival to checkout the entire evolution was a breeze! The crowns installed onto the previously set implant posts and fit almost flawlessly - minimal need to fine-tune the new crowns despite the multiple pieces and potentially challenging geometry - the technology and craftsmanship were evident and the staff performed each personal function without issue. Really a GREAT visit and as today's efforts culminated a process that began last summer, I am EXTREMELY pleased - WOW, THANK YOU! ********** September 2024 - 5 Stars Have had some extensive reconstructive work done over the past few weeks - a few fillings, an extraction, two implants - lots of activity! But through it all I always felt that Dr Hekkert and the support staff had my comfort and well-being at top of mind - not putting me behind the desire to finish whatever procedure, never making me feel there was any rush to keep to some sort of schedule, etc, but always doing a complete and thorough job at a pace I was comfortable with! And the results bear that out - I'm very pleased with the way each step along the way has turned out - and I've never had any extraordinary discomfort in the hours or days following my visits - very happy overall!

Fantastic experience: I want to first apologize to the lady I accidentally bit lol but my experience was exceptional from the moment I booked! Booking was fast and easy! I did it myself and didn’t have to wait for a call back. I went through over 40 dentist and this was the only one on my provider list that was self service in booking. My paperwork was easy and simple. When I came in I was greeted and thanked for doing all my paperwork online. I was seen in 5 minutes of arrival. The first dentist was so nice though I accidentally bit her lol we laughed. The dentist was hilarious as well. He said “you bite me I fight back” n the most light hearted playful way and it truly eased my dental anxiety. I plan to make this my home for all my dental needs. Just a great team! I hope this review finds you all!

Negative experience: After being patients there for 4 years, we will not be returning. While the service has been good it seems that since Dr Rittenberg left it's all about the up sell. I went for a routine cleaning and besides being flossing shamed was told I needed a $400. Gingivitis treatment, when I asked for just the cleaning, they refused, so I left.

Negative experience: I have been at Ortega Dental for almost 10 years. After Dr Rittenberg retired I was a bit concerned, however, I have been pleasantly surprised. Dr. Hekkert's profile states his commitment to pioneering technology and it is VERY evident in this dental practice. Anything that brings greater comfort to a patient is always great, but new technology is what gives you greater options to solving complex dental issues...like mine. Thank you Ortega Blvd Dental for my recent visit. 5/20: New update: Again, I have been greatly surprised by the changes and updates to this dental practice. Bad news: I need a VERY old filling replaced. GOOD NEWS: This practice now provides on site crown. Formerly, it was a 2-day appt over 3+ weeks. Now becomes a ONE-DAY appt. BIG improvement. This is less time...less pain...hopefully less cost. 8/4/2025: I had my crown today and frankly shocked at the changes in how procedures are conducted today. I would encourage anyone with anxiety of dental procedures to know there are new/better/improvements available...thankfully. Hands down the procedure today was honestly the best visit in my 50 years of having dental work. One day crown. The procedure was one day, the The appointment today with Dr Hekker was, hands down, the best appointment in my 50 years of having any procedures. The new procedures and techniques he utilizes minimize pain and visits for crowns. ONE visit for a crown is hard to fathom. I was honestly impressed. It makes me less anxious...makes me no longer delay necessary visits. Thank you Ortega Dental.

Fantastic experience: I was a new patient at Ortega Dentistry this morning . I was so blessed and fortunate to have Ravon as my hygienist. I've been to many dentists in my lifetime. She is by far the best I have ever encountered to clean my teeth. She has the gentlest touch and quick with her obvious experience. Her touch with her tools comes so natural and she checks on the patient frequently for the comfort. Ravon goes above and beyond with her professionalism and to share healthy gum education. I highly recommend Ravon. I will book all my appts with her no doubt. She is definitely my girl.

Fantastic experience: This was my mother’s teeth cleaning appointment. Her hygienist, Bigna was excellent!

Negative experience: My 89 year old mom (who is sharp as a tack) has been a patient for many years and, even when they have changed her appointment without her knowledge (or mine, too, since I am her caregiver), she has stuck it out with them because she loved Dr Rittenburg (who retired last year). She doesn’t even know the new Dentist’s name who took over the practice because she’s never even seen him. On some occasions they would switch dental hygienist on her without her knowledge - and 3 times now they have changed her appointment without ANY notification to her or I. The dental office says that the system tracks when appointments are made but cannot offer explanation as to why the appointments are changed (other than to insinuate that it’s OUR mistake for putting the wrong date down. It’s happened 3 times, though, and I KNOW that I CONFIRM appointments every time I make them, whether in person or on the phone). Mom has always wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them another chance (she really loves the office ladies) but she’s really hurt and disappointed that this has happened yet again (today). Everyone has always been so friendly and kind but the business practices are extremely lacking! She has wanted to stay and just deal with it because who likes to make changes at 89 years old? Not anymore…we are currently looking for a new dentist. I would suggest anyone reading this review to proceed with caution if you choose this practice.

Fantastic experience: It was wonderful the young lady that took me back made all the different she warmly greeted me and she made me feel at ease. Going to the dentist is not my favorite thing to do but She was so positive and friendly, I will be back and I will tell my friends and co-workers about Ortega dentist. My doctor was very kind and didn't make me feel bad but gave me great suggestions and he explained everything to me.

Positive experience: I recently called to schedule a routine cleaning and was informed that I needed to have a separate appointment for a new patient exam first which is an unusual nuisance. This exam included just gum size measurement and x-rays. However, I was fortunate that, Pedro, the hygienist, was able to fit me in for my cleaning. He did an excellent job, and I truly appreciated his efforts to accommodate me while I was already there. My only suggestion for improvement would be to ask patients if they would like fluoride treatment next time, rather than assuming it, as it does come with an additional cost of $35. Overall, it was a good experience and I look forward to my next visit.

Fantastic experience: Very kind staff and dentist. They move like a well oiled machine. I will be back and have told several people. I am terrified of dentists and the dentist didn't gaslight me when I said something hurt. Dr. Erik was great. He stopped and gave me more pain management. He didn't make me feel like I was being a baby for needing the nitrous and more numbing shots. The entire staff displayed wonderful interpersonal skills Pedro was my hygienist and did an awesome job as he was well articulated, professional, and empathetic to my tooth sensitivity and took extra time to numb me before proceeding with my procedure. Thanks everyone! I would recommend this establishment to a friend.

Fantastic experience: Dental Hygienist Digneu was polite and complimented me on taking care of my teeth. She has a very nice personality with a smile. She always told me what she was doing which I really appreciated. Her way of doing things was never aggressive, never in a hurry. I could tell she enjoyed what she was doing. When I got off the table, she offered her assistance for me to get off; she got my walker for me. I would appreciate it if I could have her for all my visits.

Negative experience: Never go to this dentist! I’ve been there twice to have my annual exam and teeth cleaned. Each time I have had plaque and tartar left on my teeth after the “cleaning”. The first time I called with my concerns, I was told the hygienist was a “temporary” and she doesn’t work there anymore. Because of that experience, I said I wouldn’t go back there. Since then, they have been begging me to come back for a second visit to make things right. After a year, I gave them another chance and had an even worse dental hygienist!! I have more plaque now than I ever thought imaginable… even after two cleanings! Then the dentist came in to give me an exam he said everything looks great! Shame on me that I didn’t ask for a mirror to see the plaque that was left on my teeth. Thinking they gave me an excellent cleaning, as promised, I waited until I got home to examine and was appalled! Do yourself a favor and never go to this dentist! Seek dental care elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment to get a 4 yo crown checked that had a flaw. Dr. Hekkert and his staff were willing and able to replace my crown, without hesitation with a new one taking time during their lunchtime, which was not a scheduled appointment. The staff was very friendly and Dr. Hekkert takes great strides to make you as comfortable as possible. His office uses the most up to date technology and everyone goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable through any procedure. It is a very positive atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Wow, we have found the BEST dental hygienist in the world! This is the 3rd cleaning we’ve had with the wonderful Digna and all we can say is FANTASTIC and what the heck have we have been getting all our past years. We had no idea this is what a teeth cleaning should actually be like. And this is how amazing Digna is, it is a 2 hour round trip drive and she is worth every minute in the car! And an huge plus, every member of the office staff are absolutely wonderful!!!!
