Positive experience: The dentist and dental hygienists were great, but there was no one at the front desk to check people in, so the wait was quite long. Apparently, they were in a meeting and nobody knew, so one of the hygienists had to come out and do the check ins. The girl that checked me out seemed kind of annoyed that she had to be bothered by me. Not a fan of the office staff at all!

Jacquelyn, the dental hygienist, is always exceptional—she is not only friendly and welcoming but also extremely detail-oriented, thorough, and patient. Her care is of the highest standard, and she consistently ensures that I am comfortable throughout each visit. The entire staff, including the billing department, is equally commendable. They are prompt, helpful, and accommodating with scheduling, all while maintaining a personal touch that makes you feel like more than just another patient. I never feel rushed, which is a rarity in most dental offices, and it’s clear that patient care is their priority. Dr. Mason, the dentist, is equally outstanding. His approach to patient care mirrors that of Jacquelyn—professional, thorough, and genuinely caring. I spent over two decades avoiding dental visits due to negative past experiences where patients were treated like cattle in a factory-like setting. However, I have never felt that way at Smile Today. After a less-than-ideal experience at another dental office, I returned to Smile Today to have the issue promptly and kindly addressed. Even years later, Jacquelyn remains the best in the business. Despite changes to my insurance that could have made me reconsider, I continue to trust her with my care because of her consistent kindness, attention to detail, and genuine compassion for her job and patients.

Fantastic experience: Smile Today is decent. Some have excellent bedside manners and others can stand to work on improving their bedside manners. I have mixed feelings. However, I’m satisfied with the outcome of the work.

Negative experience: Jessica A Nguyen, DMD & her Tech are not qualified to be practicing at Smile Today Dentistry. Tech took several xrays without body vest protection! Dr Nguyen stated my husbands crown was not coming loose, she didn't even check the crown physically, & crown fell out next day. Reported this to Thomas L Tolles, DMD & at front desk, not sure of outcome but it's Dr Tolles' practice & he should monitor her work as this can destroy Dr. Tolles practice. This review is honest & for being honest this practice office mgt kicked us out of this practice. Dr. Tolles states "protective xray vests should ALWAYS be used on patients" TRUTH. SMILE OVERCHARGES. SMILE Crown=$5000 NEW DENTIST FOR SAME IDENTICAL CROWN=$1371. RECOMMEND LOOKING AROUND FOR ANOTHER DENTIST! GLAD WE DID! GOOD LUCK!

Negative experience: Beware of being turned away for not confirming appt even when you did! Made appt for my son 3 weeks in advance and showed up 15min early for appt .... basically said I was lying and I didnt confirm appt and then didnt try to make it right and see my son... said if i did paper work already then maybe lol thats why I came in 15 min early!! totally unprofessional and a waste of my time ...my son was late to school and they basically just sent us on on way.

Negative experience: Family of 4 that went to this office… If you want to go with the sheep and do the “mandatory” X-rays every time for no reason, this place is for you. If you are up to date on the AAPD guidelines, clinical circumstances warrant Xray’s- so over places mandating things that aren’t necessary.(money gains) Side note, my daughter had braces and their doctor (tolles) wanted me to drive her to the orthodontist, get the wires removed, drive back to the office to get Xrays then back to the ortho to get wires put back. When he said this, I thought I was being punked. A working full time mom, needs to take off 2 days of work to get wires off and back on for Xray’s? His response was “isn’t it nice we live in a country that you can pick who you want to go with?” And responded that I will be dropped as a patient if i don’t do this and agree to the Xray’s. Never met me half way. Needless to say, our family of 4 never went back.

Fantastic experience: Loved my hygienist I had, which was Shannon. First time I’ve ever had her. She was very friendly, very informative and helped put my ‘dentist anxiety’ at bay. Love Dr. Nguyen as well. She’s so sweet and so very glad I have her, and she too puts my anxiety at ease. Never have an issue with this office.

Fantastic experience: The providers are awesome. However the administrative staff.... Have been with Smile for many years with the same coverage. Tried to make us pay for floride which was covered. This business also needs to tell you when a procedure is not covered by insurance so you can make the decision prior to having it done. Not after they have done the procedure and you are having to pay out of pocket. Again the Dentist and the hygienist are awesome.

Negative experience: I had a cap placed on a molar in 2020 and the cap is not correct. There is a gap at the bottom of it between it and the tooth in front of it. I have seen 2 other dentist and they both told me that the cap has to be replaced because of the poor quality of the making and installing of the cap. Smile today dentist wants me to pay them again to replace the cap after I have already paid $1400. Be careful of what service they perform for you. Make sure they do it correctly the first time so you can avoid this happening to you. You have been warned about smile today dentist in Bayside lakes.

Negative experience: I am posting this in hopes that it helps someone else. When you have any work done and your insurance pays, it is like pulling teeth to get the refund from this office where they have overcharged you. I have called multiple times to try to get my refund where I had a filling without any success. I have never had to deal with this in any dental office I have ever been to. This is unacceptable. You should not have to call multiple times to get your refund credited on the card that you paid with. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: When I arrived to check in, they couldn’t find me on their schedule but were gracious enough to pencil me in. I have an infant and my husband had to clear his work schedule to watch over him so coming back that day wasn’t an option. The very fair compromise was that they’d do an assessment today and schedule another day for the treatment. I was happy with this. Erin was my hygienist. She was so kind and thorough, took her time to explain what she’s doing and why. I’ve never had a hygienist ask me if I have dental anxiety before. I don’t but I appreciate that they ask so they can help their patients feel more at ease and comfortable. From the check-in to check-out, everybody I interacted with was kind and accommodating. I’m very glad I found them and you would be too.

Fantastic experience: My dental hygienist understands my life long fear of dentists. Jacqueline has made me feel calm and comfortable from my first visit with her. It’s been 4 years now. And Dr Tolles is me dentist. He’s helped me to preserve my natural teeth. Highly recommend this office.

Negative experience: the hygienist was nice. but i was not expecting that a cleaning was going to cost me over $200. very vague in check in. i don’t know how i feel about having to pay almost $100 for x-rays either. i don’t think ill be returning.

Negative experience: Smile Today Dentistry keeps sending me reminders of my overdue appointment. I figure they deserve an explanation as to WHY I will never return to them--Two years ago, I wrote a glowing review for this place. Unfortunately, I must revisit. I had a severely infected tooth that was causing me pain, and an already loosened front tooth: which I was advised at another dental place: Sheldon & Furtato (spelling?) I believe who told me it could be saved. Dr. Jessica A. Nguyen, DMD, who saw me--had to be convinced to give me antibiotics for the infection. She wanted to remove the tooth right away. I am a) a 46 year old woman who is aware and in-tune with my body and aware that I have dental anxiety and PTSD thanks to Dentists like Ngguyen who previously also decided not to treat the infection and immediately want to treat the tooth. I know, and THEY know, anesthetics become useless when there's and infection. I came back a week after antibiotics feeling better and hopeful that maybe, JUST maybe, this would finally go so much better than previous experiences. Dr. Nguyen's injections were directly on the infection. From the FIRST MOMENT I had to stop myself from SCREAMING from pain. It took Dr. Nyguen 45 mins of injections, then waiting, injections, then waiting--before she started pulling the infected tooth--which immediately I felt and began sobbing AGAIN because if I didn't cry, I would have screamed. This is when the dentist looked me in the eye, a grown adult and said: "It's just pressure." I am gripping the seat white knuckled, I could not stop shaking, could barely breath, and could not stop crying, was literally WRITHING in pain in that chair in front of the Dentist and hygienist whose response? To stare at me. In dead silence. Then they stared at each other. Eventually, she numbed me up AGAIN, and tried AGAIN. It took her another 20 minutes of me sobbing in EXCRUCIATING PAIN and this professional dentist stopped and point blanked asked me: "Well...what do you want me to do? Do you want to go somewhere else? " I HAVE A TOOTH HALF-PULLED AND THE DENTIST ASKED ME WHAT TO DO. I CAME HERE BECAUSE YOU'RE THE EXPERT! I powered through. And I walked out of there heart broken, humiliated, and with FURTHER dental trauma and anxiety. PLEASE I BEG YOU: BELIEVE YOUR PATIENTS ARE IN PAIN and if You are too Jaded to do so: PRETEND. Never. Again.

I thought I had to pay for the deep cleaning but they ran it through my insurance company and discovered it was fully covered! There was no bleeding afterwards which was not expected so I was extremely happy about that also.

Fantastic experience: This is for Craig Fink. My appt . was on10/02/2024. I had Ashley clean my teeth. She is the BEST!!!! Dr. Tolles was the Dr. that I checked my teeth. I have a problem and need some implants. He gave me a referral to have them fixed with a Dr. nearer to our home that I had used before. That was very very nice of him. I will continual to use his services for cleaning and other checkups.

Positive experience: Erin, my tooth cleaning girl was very polite & informed me beforehand of each procedure she performed. She did a wonderful job. Other than that, she’s probably the 5th technician I’ve been assigned over a 6 year period. The turnover employee ratio bothers me. Also there has been as many dentists in the same time. This firm has lost its personal association with its patients that’s been impotent to me from my past dentist experiences. It’s become very robotic. It’s also very expensive. I don’t like the idea of paying for TV’s in every room that patients don’t have time to watch. I gave the 4 stars for Erin, the hygienist care on my last visit.

Negative experience: UPDATE 3/31/25 I went to the dentist in 2023 for a routine cleaning and two periodontal cleanings (3 times total). I paid my copay’s upfront. In October 2024 I received a call from the dentist’s office stating they have not received a payment from my insurance. Insurance stated they sent the check but the dentist can not locate it. I asked them how is it you are calling over a year later for a $92 payment? They just told me they can’t resolve this with my insurance and it’s my responsibility. When they called I advised them I was in the hospital from having a major surgery. I told them I received the email and when I am home and recovered I would call. I was hospitalized, sent to inpatient rehab and sent home with home health care. This year old $92 debt was not my top priority with all my medical issues and the medications I was on. They sent me to collections in December for $92 that was a year old debit plus fees now for collections. I am still disabled and on medications that make it hard to concentrate. Anyhow, I called the dentist’s office to get the claim number for insurance because I looked at all my claims and not one matches the amount of $92. I had three visits but there were multiple claim numbers in the insurance portal. I left 2 different messages and no answer. But maybe they won’t call back since it’s in collections. It shouldn’t be there and wouldn’t be if they contacted me in 2023 when services were done not over a year later. I contest the collection with the agency 60+ days ago. I received a letter today, 3/31/25 stating the collection is confirmed and all they sent me was an account print out with NO INSURANCE CLAIM INFORMATION AS I REQUESTED and the signed patient registration page. They still have not proven the amount by providing a claim number so I can have insurance reissue the check or tell the dentist they already cashed it. BUT they want me in collections!?!? Prove to me by providing the claim number that what ever service was not paid and I’ll help. Until then I will not pay. How do I know you’re not just asking for extra money? You won’t provide me with claim number or even the service date/information. I mean you only saw me three times. How hard is it to provide this information. Horrible horrible billing department. The dental assistant and front staff were pleasant but I can not and will not support a service that does not advocate or even help a patient collect pertinent information to assist you in find you’re whopping $92. Shame on you. Send me your collections for that and you didn’t even put effort to help me even after I told you I was in the hospital when you first called. You lost a patient because of your billing back office. ——————————————————————————— This office is great. They had a cancellation and was seen as a new patient in 30 minutes. Jacquelyn was great and had my plan set up for care quickly. Dr. Tolles is awesome. The front desk was very helpful. Highly recommend!

This was such a pleasant surprise bc other dental offices are too busy and your wait is exorbitant. They were very friendly and the work was done well organized and smoothly. Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Dr. Tolles for about 2 years now and I am extremely happy with his work. I've had a few root canals in the past and they were excruciatingly painful, so I was nervous about getting another. Dr. Tolles knows what he's doing and took care of my fears and my pain. He's got a good bed-side, or is it chair-side(?), manner. He is professional and quick with his work. He is a UGA fan but nobody's perfect. Overall I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Tolles and the staff at Smile Today Dentistry.

Positive experience: Surface was good people at the front desk were good. The hygienist I had was excellent. They just gotta come out with a better insurance plan. I have a deductible plan discount plan so they call it $114 for a regular cleaning. I think it’s a little outrageous

Positive experience: First, I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Tolles and the front desk staff for their professional and understanding demeanor during every visit. However, during a most recent visit, the assistant who was tasked with taking an X-ray, took her three attempts to capture a single X-ray due to apparent unfamiliarity with the computer system and/or uncertainty about Dr. Tolles' specific request.
