Fantastic experience: Another Dentist did substandard work, and I had Dr. Cahill evaluate it. He then removed a dysfunctional wisdom tooth and will now crown the adjacent molar (which another Dentist said must also be removed as it was too damaged to save). Dr. Cahill removed my wisdom tooth before I realized it was even out, which was a nice surprise. I have full faith he'll be just as competent installing the new crown (rather than extracting this tooth)! His chair-side manner is professional, supportive, and I had complete confidence in his work. This practice is more expensive than my prior one as they aren't "in Network" but I have more faith in their competence.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend Dr. Cahill enough. I had to get two fillings, he was so patient and listened to my concerns. I have had a previously bad experience at another dentist and he took extra care to make sure I was comfortable. They even gave me a blanket and let me wear ear phones to help with some of my anxiety. I’m so glad I trusted him to handle my dental needs and will continue to trust him with all my future needs!

Positive experience: Listen...Open on Saturday for full daily operation!!! I called and they had an appointment for a new patient...Same Day!!! It was love from the 1 st phone call. The office environment is amazing! The staff was pleasant (on a Saturday). The Dentist was respectful, forward, but not intimidating! (I fear Dentist practices now) from what my concern was to the end... i felt heard! Listen, it not a 5 yet, only because its my scoring... i leave room for error and growth! Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, efficient workers across the board and they are honest about any problems you have with your teeth and they don't pressure you to have unnecessary work done on "potential" problems. They walk you through your x-ray results (Dr Walker in my case) and show you what they are seeing and explain why what they are seeing may be problematic in the long run.

Negative experience: I wanted to like this place. They are close to my house and I broke a tooth and need an extraction done. I am extremely anxious/nervous about this, had made an appointment and was looking forward to getting it taken care of tomorrow afternoon. Until I received a text today informing me that the dentist 'is going to be out sick tomorrow'. At my initial appointment when I was told the extraction was needed, the dentist had assured me that although he was going on vacation, another dentist would be available. I then expressed that I am in pain....and was offered a reschedule 2 weeks out, in May!! I'm sorry - I'm in pain, and in case I didn't mention it before, I'm in pain. Back to square one finding a caring dental practice. All of this including the vacation/out sick thing from the dentist was very sketchy and I am so disappointed. (Full disclosure: I was eventually offered a Saturday 4/26 appointment but I don't have a good feeling about this practice and have decided to go elsewhere.)

Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked in the office, with some anxiety, until the moment I walked out the office, skipping and humming in my head, was easy peasy. Everyone was professional, kind, patient, and informative. At one time I was crying from just feeling overwhelmed and Na-ashia (sorry for butchering your name) listened while I talked. She even asked if I needed to talk a little more before we start. I told her I was fine and thanked her for allowing me that space. My Dentist was just as kind, patient, and professional. I didn’t feel like a number. I’m looking forward to my next appointment. Really.

Fantastic experience: I really like this dentist office. You rarely have to wait and the quality of care is good. I just took my partner there to get dentures made and based on the fit of the models they made it will be worth not going to affordable dentures. They also give a senior discount and have Saturday hours.

Fantastic experience: We started using RT Dental over 20 years ago when we lived down the street from their office. It’s been over two decades and we now love two towns away but we still use RT Dental because they’ve always taken great care of all of us.

Negative experience: Somehow, my phone number got changed. So when I went in they said I missed my confirmation call/text, and they cancelled my appointment. Well, that was news to me. My phone number has not changed in years. Its been the same as the last 10 times I've been there. I took time off of work and was on time for my cleaning. If they don't want me as a customer, that's fine, I'll go somewhere else.

Positive experience: Been a patient for years. Just recently switched carriers and was not informed at time of check in that they are NOT within the network. Found that out when it came time to pay and they expected full payment. I know that I could have been pro-active, however, when an establishment asks for new insurance information 2-3 days ahead of time, they could have contacted me to let me know.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough great things about this dental office! Before coming here, I hadn’t seen a dentist in nine years because of how terrified I was. Just stepping foot in the office was a huge hurdle for me, but from the moment I walked in, Kristen, a member of the staff made me feel completely at ease. The customer service is truly 5-star—everyone is warm, welcoming, and so understanding. Today was my second visit, and I was still anxious, but my hygienist, Amy was incredibly patient and took such great care of me. They explained everything step by step and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. If you have dental anxiety, this is the place to go! I’m so grateful for their kindness and professionalism. Fantastic experience: My wife had a dental emergency right before Christmas. Our usual dentist was closed and unable to see us. I reached out to a friend and they recommended Dr. Cahill and that they had seen him for years. I reached out the office and they were able to make an emergency appointment for us same day. Not only was everyone friendly, happy to help us, and Dr. Cahill was able to treat her-- but he also did so with a gentle touch which is important to me. He had great bedside manner and made the experience as comfortable as possible. I would definitely recommend this office if you live in the Triangle area. We'll be switching from our old dentist.

Fantastic experience: I had not been to my dentist office for a while. I was of course very apprehensive of what they may find, but Jolie, who was the dental hygienist was very professional, knowledgeable and very kind. She made me very comfortable and assured me everything would be fine.. She calmed my fears and went about doing the task at hand. I have to say she was amazing! We carried on a conversation and before i knew it she was finished. I was also very pleased with Jolene who assisted in the finance/ billing for future dental work I will be having done. Fantastic experience: My experience at Research Triangle Dental was above satisfactory as usual. Everyone there was professional and kind. Great service from scheduling appointments, insurance department, cleaning and dental work from Dr Lopez.

Negative experience: Just Disappointed!!! I have been a customer for 18yrs and told them to remove me from their system. I change companies, which change insurance companies. 1st time I had an appointment I had to cancel as they couldn't tell me how much I was being charge for being out of network. 6 months later contacts me to tell me I am due for an appt. Told them find out the cost, they go again we won't know until the insurance company bills us we will know the day before. The day before they contact me, told me it will be around $10 - 20 since I was out of network. I said are you sure and they said yes. So I went through with the appointment. During the cleaning, love Dr. Lopez, was told I have a cavity and they can put meds on it. Told me it should be estimated $200. During check out was told I had a $32 credit never even knew I had that, so again if I didn't come back would they have sent me a check for my credit hmmm. Then I paid upfront $63. Few months later I get a bill for $387.30 via e-mail. I went to their office twice to discuss the bill. They kept telling me we are working with your insurance company. I told them you told me the cleaning was $15-20 and the cavity is $200. But now to come up with an extra $387.30 makes no sense to me. I told my ex colleague about this and he said with him even being in network, he is getting over charged now. If you look at the others reviews, seems like there is a problem how they estimate people and their billing process. I would be find if the bill was what they estimated. I would have honor the $200 est they told me. But to all of the sudden to be charge and extra $290 something is not wrong. I made the mistake to believe them about their out of network estimates. Will not make that mistake again. Thank you Dr. Lopez for the years of cleaning, but I can't handle what has happen to me. Anyone out of network don't do it. In network, you may have problems to, be aware. Thank you for reading.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly, very informative, and they actually want to help, not just push you through. I don't like dentist, I have a fearof them, but they have a way of making you feel safe and sound.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment and was cancelled on twice in a row for two weeks with around 1 hours notice that the dentist was not available. Finally went to the third attempt and the billing shown by the practice was not matching my predetermination letter from my insurance company. I was never able to get ahold of anyone when I called to explain the discrepancy in billing practices. They just told me I was being charged this higher amount without explanation so I cancelled the appointment. I wouldn’t recommend this dentist office to someone new to the area. I had Dr. Gibree and he spent more time attempting to sell additional services like Invisalign or special devices over actually informing me about my dental health. They will post their number below, but you will never get a person if you are trying to call as a current patient.

Fantastic experience: Dr. LOPEZ is a great doctor. I have trusted his judgment in caring for my teeth. He was able to recognize my issues and took the time needed to fix my issues. He showed compassion and patience with me. I was able to see the doctor in a timely manner.

Positive experience: While the financial aspect of my visit was 2-3 months of going back and forth, rescheduling appointment to make sure the expectations were clear, I get to the office and it still wasn't right. The cleaning was eye-opening in that I was told by a different hygienist a year ago that my browning teeth were due to aging and not the toothpaste. Well the hygienist at RTD had more experience and prior knowledge. Before at Ellis Crossing I was charged well over $200 for a deep cleaning that left my teeth with brown stains. After my visit with RTD, my teeth are 99.5% better and the Dentist prescribed me a toothpaste to better treat my teeth because the real culprit of my brown-stained teeth was indeed the toothpaste I was using !

Fantastic experience: Always on time, they don’t keep you waiting, and i even needed a filling after a standard cleaning appt, and they were able to squeeze me in there on the spot so i didn’t have to make a separate appointment & come back. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: I had a dental emergency. Twice I have called the office; each time I have been forwarded to their answering service. 1st time the service never forwarded my request to the dentist office. 2nd time the service told me the office was open and would call me back shortly. The office was closed and did not call me back. The dentist and hygienist are fantastic-- I have no complaints about the treatment, and the ladies at the desk are excellent and friendly--but their answering service is not impressive at all in an emergency.

Negative experience: I waited over 6 weeks for a new patient appointment. I provided them with my insurance at that time and completed my intake paperwork online. They lost the intake paperwork and neglected to run my insurance benefits, despite it being given to them multiple times via email, text, and over the phone. They would not see me unless I paid full out of pocket price of $457, despite having dental insurance. I was unable to work this morning because of this appointment so I not only did I show up at 7am to NOT get my teeth cleaned, but I also lost out on my own income.

Fantastic experience: The team always explain everything to me and gives me options. They are very understanding and work well with the patients. I feel very confident with the treatment that I receive.

Negative experience: Dental work is great. Billing department is very sneaky. I was told multiple times throughout my second visit (deep cleaning) that Research Triangle Dental is in network for my insurance company but that was incorrect. After I received my bill for 100% of the cost of the deep cleaning I called back and had someone else check and confirm that Research Triangle Dental is not in fact in network for MetLife insurance. Don't trust the sneaky sales lady. If you check for yourself and confirm that your insurance provider is in network then I'm sure you will have a good experience.

Negative experience: I'm a middle aged Hispanic man. Today, I had an appointment with brian cahill, dds., for some dental work. I walked out before it all started. I was humiliated by brian after he took off my cap without asking to remove it. Before taking it off my cap he said, "This is going to get in my way." He chuckled. Not only that, but his young female assistant went to the hallway to laugh for a few while she told her coworker who came over to the room to look at me while I sat in the dentist chair. This was all totally unprofessional and disrespectful. I would have easily taken off my cap if someone had asked me to. I get the last laugh though as they lost out on over $500 of out of pocket money. My wife and I will never go back there ever again.

Negative experience: There is a disconnect between the front office and dental techs/dentist. They are not on the same page. The dentist tech/dentist tell me one thing and the front office tell me to do another. I waited a month but cancelled my appointment because I was told to come by the office 1 hr before they were to close to pick up a prescription because it couldn’t be called into the pharmacy. Too short of notice for me. Front office stated no pharmacy would take lorazepam over the phone because it was against the law. That is false. CII’s are prohibited to be called in over the phone, C3-C5’s are allowed. Pretty basic stuff if you work in healthcare. Attached to this post is a page from the online pocket guide provided by the NCBOP (North Carolina Board of Pharmacy). Oral prescriptions for schedule IV medications are fine. It may be their policy to not phone them in but it’s certainly not against the law. Front staff came across so surely of it. After that back and forth, I lost confidence in the clinic as a whole

Negative experience: Shady billing practices. Even if you pay copay/deductible that they ask for in every visit, they always find for you an outstanding balance. I’ve been paying those in every successive visits. This time again they found some balance months after the visit, but because it’s been longer than usual since last visit, instead of calling or mailing me the due details, to my surprise, they sent a debt collector behind me (yes, to an established patient, for $8). They immediately lost me and my family as patients.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was patient and kind to me. Due to previous experiences with other dental practices, I am a high fear patient. Dr Lopez and the other staff members were wonderful. I appreciate their efforts in my experience a comfortable one.

Negative experience: I moved from out of town, and one of the dentists (who I booked the appointment with) appeared in network online. The office didn’t notify me that I was out of network until billing me for the visit and co-pay, eating into some of the last $$ I had on my annual maximum, and had no problem with quoting me for future services they could provide, without context of what this would cost elsewhere (it’s cheaper, even at a specialist). Both the hygenist and doctor were excellent in terms of patience with answering my questions, and everyone was outwardly friendly, but my experience with the office as whole has left me with a bad taste in my mouth and scrambling to find more affordable treatment without any insurance contribution.

Fantastic experience: My son and myself have been going to this Dental practice for many years and it NEVER disappoints. The staff is very friendly and professional but Dr. Walker takes the cake. He is very knowledgeable and explains what’s happening with my gums and teeth at the very sight of a concern. The treatment plans are a little costly BUT the dental work is worth every dollar.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr. Cahill for more than a decade. Why? I remember waking up one Saturday with what felt like a sledgehammer pounding on my tooth. I needed help and I needed it fast. I remember desperately calling dental offices in 3 nearby towns. No one returned my calls. All of them were closed, except for Dr. Cahill and his team at Research Triangle Dental, the only dentist office I’ve ever known to be open on the weekend. Dr. Cahill personally took my call and actively listened to my concerns with great empathy. He recommended I come immediately that day to see him. I did. When I left his office, the challenges I had experienced were resolved thanks to Dr. Cahill and his experienced and friendly staff. I have been living in another state for nearly five years and Dr. Cahill is the only dentist I trust. So much so, I travel back to North Carolina just for dental appointments with Dr. Cahill. Negative experience: These guys are the biggest scammers. I went in as a new patient for a cleaning - which they didn’t even do - and they proceeded to take over an hour of my time to take X-rays, mansplain how decay works, and tell me that I need 19 fillings. Yes, NINETEEN. I got a second opinion at another dentists office that was horrified they were suggesting anything even NEAR 19. This is the dental version of a shady mechanic trying to scam any college age woman that walks through the door. Super disappointed especially since I had to wait over a month for this appt. Strongly suggest avoiding.

Fantastic experience: I walked in on Tue 9/5 & was able to schedule an appt on Thu 9/7. l didn't have dental insurance & was given info for the VantageOne dental discount plan. I enrolled in the dental plan, emailed my x-rays & did the new patient registration online. I needed a crown. I was able to get a 20% discount & given a way to finance it at 0% interest for 12 months. Although my dental experience provided me with the service I needed, I don't feel like the staff who saw me read my onlline registration information.

Fantastic experience: My experience have been great. The receptionists makes me feel welcome to be there They always have a friendly smile. I sent one of my coworker to have dental work done. She was so impressed with the service. The doctors are all great. They work as a team. The hygienist are great too. It hard to find a dentist who take pride in their work enjoy doing it. Thanks you all for caring.

Fantastic experience: Very pleasant office. Staff are always nice. My dental needs are taking care of. They will make a plan of action and go over what needs to be done and cost. Explain how insurance will work towards cost. They are good at calling and texting you information. M.Klooz
