I have a dental phobia and have seen 4 doctor's in my area,m before coming here (all of them said I need to be sedated for my procedure (extractions). Not only was I scheduled within the following morning (Sunday), but the doctor was absolutely very kind and explained the procedure and process in a way I've never heard. Yes, I was still scared, but the doctor somehow took that fear away from me. I'm 45yrs old! I've been dealing with dental phobia since I was 19yrs old. 4 dentists that sent me out, to having my procedure done within the hour of arriving here. I can't thank you enough. Literally, thank you. You took my pain away. You helped me overcome my fear. The staff and the nurse that assisted were also very kind. 100% recommend this wonderful place to anyone anyone. Then the payments were so flexible! ❤️ Thank you guys! Ya'll are the best

Negative experience: I had the worst experience with the doctor who treated me. She had a bad attitude and did a repair on a front tooth, but in less than a month it had already broken. Terrible service and they charge way too much.

Fantastic experience: I broke a front tooth veneer in Hawaii on a work trip and desperate to find a capable Dentist and Emergency Dentist of Austin had availability (Thank God) the day I returned.. They had a temporary replacement fix made while there and made the mold to send out for the permanent. Usually takes a few weeks but I paid a very reasonable fee for a rush. In one week I had my new veneer on and it was a perfect match. I was there less than an hour for them to make a great solid fit. Next day I am now off on a trip to Mexico for my anniversary with beautiful teeth! I highly recommend them and think they were very professional and responsive.

Fantastic experience: Emergency Dentist of Austin office on Norwood Pkwy Austin, TX is AMAZING! They saw me today, Sunday afternoon/evening for severe tooth pain that gradually became worse throughout the weekend. I called at 3:30pm & they saw me right away at 4:30pm. Based on the panoramic x-ray and exam, I needed an immediate extraction and again, right away prepared me for the procedure. I felt no pain, the tooth was out in minutes. The cost was absolutely affordable & I was not charged for unnecessary things. Staff, Dentist, & Dental Assistant were professional, thorough, kind and compassionate. I was given a completely realistic treatment plan, along with care instructions. Thank you Emergency Dentist of Austin, you guys came in CLUTCH!!

Fantastic experience: I called and made an appointment for a consultation and extraction, they were the only dentist open on a sunday and the pain i was experiencing was excruciating! Maggie was very calm and quick to send the necessary paperwork for me to fill out before I came in for my appointment, and Nova helped me figure out a payment plan that worked for me as hastily as possible (not out of negligence, but because they could tell I needed the procedure to begin as quickly as possible!). While waiting for the procedure, my pain intensified substantially and Dr. Dudeen was kind enough to administer topical anesthesia a bit earlier than usual which I can’t even put into words how relieving that was after 72 hours of nonstop intense and searing pain. Juana has great bedside manner and candor, which pairs very well with Dr. Dudeens calming and conversational approach. I felt reassured about the brevity of the procedure and they took good care to check in on my level of sensitivity throughout. Juana talked me through aftercare and Nova and Maggie helped me set up an appointment to get stitches removed on my way out. Honestly the best experience i’ve had at a dental clinic, and to be frank, i’ve had more than my fair share. Hats off to these saints!

Negative experience: If I could rate this office lower, I would. Avoid unless you absolutely have to come here for an emergency and no other options are available. I came in for a tiny chip in my front tooth that happened on a tooth with old composite bonding just on the bottom edge. I was leaving town on a Monday morning and was needing the tiny area smoothed out on the weekend, or I would’ve of course visited my normal dentist. It was not even noticeable cosmetically because of how tiny the chip was, but sharp on my tongue, so I thought it would be a super safe fix to have it smoothed until I could address the chipped bonding later on (if I even wanted to—again, wasn’t noticeable). The dentist smoothed the affected area as expected, but unfortunately, he filed the tooth next to it as well which had no damage or issues whatsoever when I came in. It was my natural tooth with no composite bonding, and it’s now a totally different shape than when I came in, and is way worse than the minuscule chip I went it to fix. The tooth (the one he incorrectly filed away) is not only a different shape, but now this creates a gap in between my teeth that was not there before—all of this that I’m referring to is unrelated to the actual chipped tooth I needed to be smoothed (that part is fine). This is extremely unfortunate that a natural tooth next to the affected tooth was filed in error, but I understand mistakes can happen so I let the dentist know straight away while in the office, as well as called back later when I was really able to confirm my natural tooth (next to the chipped one) was filed in error. All I asked is that I receive a refund for the just the service cost—I was okay to pay for the exam cost—to account for this permanent mistake that I now have to go elsewhere and pay hundreds of dollars to correct. And it’s not even what I went in there for! They were not willing to work with me or provide any sort of resolution, and did not own up to their mistake—this is the part I take the most issue with. They keep claiming that, because it was bonding material, it just “came off” and this is what caused the gap. This is 100% false because the tooth that they’re referring to had no bonding and was fully my natural tooth, and it’s a totally different shape than before now. They’re acting like I don’t know what my teeth looked like (as if I don’t have pictures of my smile before to prove it) or like this was somehow my fault for having bonding on my front tooth, even though that’s not the part they filed away in error. It’s insane to not be willing to own up to it or be willing to refund a small service cost ($150). I regret my decision to come here so much and my tooth will never be the same Do not come here!

Positive experience: The office staff were quick with their work, and the dentist was kind and appropriate with how she explained the process and healing. I didn't rate them a 5 star rating because they neglected to explain there is a 2nd down payment that was to be processed through. Knowing it prior would have been helpful to make a better payment arrangement.

Fantastic experience: It was overall a great experience. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. I brought my daughter with me and they made it a memorable experience for her. They took her to the front to watch her favorite shows while I got my cavities taken care of. The entire staff worked diligently and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Great facility!!!!

Negative experience: dismissive, negligent, sloppy, and incorrectly advertised. went in due to the option of a payment plan, and horrible jaw/tooth pain, was told i’d only need to pay the $90 to get seen then can pay the treatment overtime. nope, i was quoted $1500 + $50/month for two years to even start treatment, and that was only for some cavities which wouldn’t even help the pain. dentist kept ignoring me, turns out i need 4 extractions along with all of the cavities filled & 3 caps. don’t get me wrong, i understand that this isn’t an office equipped to perform impacted tooth surgery (but the others could’ve been removed lol), if it weren’t for the dr interrupting, ignoring my issues, and the scheduling team straight up lying to me i wouldn’t be giving a bad review. i expected to at least have some sort of relief that would work with my budget, instead i got a “eh we can fill your cavities for $1500 down but no it won’t help the pain” and when asked if it looked infected a literal “i dunno maybe” grossly exaggerated their capabilities & mislead their ability to work with a budget. i was already aware of most of the issues, infact they didn’t even catch half of them. now im out $100 just to find out dentists can’t do dentist things i guess. when i declined cavities being filled for that price i was perscribed some advil. (and finally amoxicillin because i kept pushing for SOMETHING to help, this isnt normal pain and i was worried my tooth was infected) & that was it.

Fantastic experience: I was a little nervous about my emergency dental visit. Emergency Dentist of Austin made the nervousness go completely away. The people were super friendly & showed compassion for the love of what they do. Take care of their patients is what they do. True professionals, not only that, the price was unbelievably affordable. Fantastic experience: READ THE REVIEW- IGNORE THE RATING! I came here last year after chipping several teeth in a car accident. The dental assistant immediately made fun of me and then the other dental assistant who was prepping my tooth for the fixative told me “stop talking”… while she was asking me questions about how it happened. I had to follow up and go to an ACTUAL dentist to get ALL THREE OF MY TEETH FIXED. The dentist saw that 3 of my teeth were broken and refused to fix all of them. He only fixed the tooth that was the most badly damaged and did a SHITTY job of doing so. I understand why this place is a last resort for treatment. I waited over 6 HOURS to get seen! It was ridiculous. Waiting 6 hours to have shitty work done on my teeth- I would’ve been better off buying a cheap fixative kit on Amazon and doing it myself. I was OVERCHARGED $600+ for a shitty dental fix and $89 for a “teeth cleaning and checkup” that was never done. If I could I would’ve got a refund but by how much you all overcharge it’s obvious that you are DESPERATE for the money. I’m not surprised by the treatment of by the lack of customer service of the staff. I can see why this is a LAST resort for people. I tried to grin and bear it because I DESPERATELY needed my teeth fixed but in hindsight I should’ve went to an ACTUAL dentist to do so. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND

Fantastic experience: Really nice folks who helped me out during an emergency with a broken tooth that was infected. Got in and out within a couple hours, and the cost was reasonable. I’m one day post-op and feeling a lot less pain than yesterday after the extraction, and hopefully continue to improve from here out. Dr Dudeen was my surgeon and his assistant was Cici - amazing, liked both of them, I’d recommend them any time. I’m hoping I get him again when I have my sutures removed in a couple weeks. I do wish their other dentists would work a bit on their bedside manner. Dr Park was very professional when I went in today to ask about what I thought was a failing blood clot (it’s loose gum tissue), but her bedside manner was dismissive and a little cold, like I was being ridiculous for having concerns when I have the WORST dental anxiety in general and this was a huge procedure for me, so I’m still nervous. The assistant was very nice but I didn’t get her name, she talked me through everything while the doctor just kind of stared at a wall and spaced out.

Fantastic experience: These guys are so great and awesome at their job special shootout to sharell (hope I spelled her name right) for making the process so much more easier. They are a bit pricey but It's definitely worth the time care and efficiency they put into their work. THANK YOU GUYS!!

She is highly professional, highly skilled, knowledgeable and provides the best ever customer service every time I come for my teeth cleaning. If she ever retires, I would follow her to her home and beg her to clean my teeth. This is how much I admire and adore this woman.

Fantastic experience: I came here because I had an infected tooth that needed to come out. I called Saturday morning and the tooth was gone by Saturday afternoon. The staff was pleasant, professional, and most importantly to me, nonjudgemental. They took good care of me, and even offered a payment plan that worked with my budget. Absolutely do not recommend waiting until your dental issue is an emergency, but if you must, this is the place to be.

Fantastic experience: Got it last minute, was seen quickly. Wasn’t upsold a fix I didn’t need, was told the tooth might heal in its own and to just keep an eye over the weekend. Doctor even offered to let me take a 20 minute nap in the chair after if I needed it as I have a 1 week old at home lol. Great experience.

Negative experience: I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt this experience needed to be shared. I was asked to pay for my office visit up front, and when I explained that I wasn’t able to, the assistant just stood there silently for a couple of minutes before bringing someone else over—without any explanation. That person then asked me again, this time in a rude and dismissive tone. It was already difficult and embarrassing to say I couldn’t pay at that moment, but the lack of professionalism and compassion made the situation much worse. A little empathy and communication would have gone a long way.

Fantastic experience: I from Germany and even through my language barrier, I felt really comfortable and in good hands. Especially Hannah was calming me down a lot. She does a great job with patients. All in all my treatment was a full success and I’m happy with the results

Negative experience: This place was awful. They had one dentist working on three different people simultaneously and would go long stretches leaving patients with mouths open waiting for them. Pain management was awful and insufficient. My partner was sobbing crying at many points from the pain, and they were not very helpful. It was $2k for a root canal, by the way. I do not know how or why this place has such a high rating.

Fantastic experience: Full disclosure: I am actually the office manager for this location, but I thought it would be an interesting experience to put myself in the patients shoes for once. I still had my wisdom teeth as of today, but I decided to put myself in the care of Dr. Dudeen today and finally rid of these teeth I should have taken out ages ago. The team was as compassionate as always and reassured me along the way as I too, as many patients have shared, can get quite anxious in the dental chair… which is probably why I had not gotten my wisdom teeth removed until now. Dr. Dudeen was speedy and efficient, I did not feel an ounce of pain and he was very careful to ensure I was comfortable during the procedure by checking in with me as much as possible, I am extremely happy to know this is the care patients get everyday. Angelica (one of our amazing RDAs) assisted with the procedure and was precise and caring throughout the whole process, explaining to me very well how to take care of the site post-op. Finally, the front office team (Nova, Maggie and Alfredo) were very supportive and very excited to learn about how it feels to be a patient in the care of EDoA. I am excited to be able to have even more extensive knowledge on exactly how every single step of a wisdom tooth extraction feels and looks like for a patient, and most of all, I am very excited to share that I am very confident in the expertise and compassion of this team and that we will ensure you are in good hands with us!

Fantastic experience: From the front desk, the dental assistants, to the dentists themselves, this place is TOP NOTCH! They have gone over and above for me. My teeth are horrible but I've never had judgement. I will need total dentures. I'm terrified of dentists but I've never once been scared with them. No joke. Make them your go-to. You won't regret it.

Coming back from a funeral in San Antonio my filling got pulled out by a Buccees Pecan snack and maybe 2-hours later I was in their chair. They helped me for a very reasonable price, I need additional work but at least we have a fix in and I'll be able to return to work tomorrow. Thanks y'all!

I told the lady I’m actually pulling in your driveway right now Pull in at 7:50 and they already had the doors open even though they don’t really open till eight Got my son back immediately and performed a root canal. My son is autistic and has severe anxiety. The level of care and patience the best I have received from a dentist office in all of my years of life. They were AMAZING I will highly recommend them to everyone Let me remind you this was on a Sunday. The best experience ever. Fantastic experience: Got my tooth filled in the end of July, it’s already chipped off again, they don’t have any openings with my dentist until 4/19 that’s a long time to wait in my opinion, I don’t want to be out in public with a chipped tooth, I paid over 600 dollars, I wasn’t told it wouldn’t last even a year. Right now I am not pleased and would not recommend. Edited my review, Dr Campbell explained to me why my tooth chipped off and took care of it at no charge, I really appreciate the customer service

Fantastic experience: Not only were they able to fit me for an emergency wisdom tooth extraction, but they also made things as calm as possible. I have avoided going to the dentist for 15 year because of a traumatic experience, but they took the time to answer all my questions and made the process as comfortable as possible offering nitrous gas. My dentist communicated everything she was doing and was done in about 15-20 minutes. I hardly felt the injections and everyone was so kind and not aggressive about pricing at all. My nurse was so kind and took her time going over the post op care information and prescriptions. Definitely would recommend to anyone feeling uneasy about emergency dental work especially tooth extractions! I showed up anxious and bawling, I am comfortably back home typing this review with minimal pain!

Negative experience: Horrible practice. I would recommend finding anywhere else to go. I was made to wait for 50 minutes past my appointment time without so much as an acknowledgment of my wait. Once I was finally seen I was taken to the “room.” This was a completely public area where other patients were walking by and could see my x-rays and hear discussions of procedures and finances. It was humiliating. As for the examination, the doctor spent less than 30 seconds looking at my tooth and just said “you need an extraction.” No explanation or elaboration. I was then told the treatment specialist would see me to discuss. The “specialist” was the receptionist who just gave me the price with again no details to the procedure. All of this for a waste of $90. Being made to wait 50 minutes to be seen for 5 was beyond frustrating. After choosing to forgo treatment the “treatment specialist” asked if I wanted antibiotics. I asked her if I needed them and she simply said “well it’s included in the $90, if you want a perscription.” I asked if the doctor thought I needed them and she said “if you want you can have them.” I asked again if I needed them and she again said “if you want.” For me, as for a lot of people, dentists can cause a lot of anxiety and shame. They made this feeling so much worse on top of being incredibly unprofessional on both a business and medical basis. Stay away.

Negative experience: I appreciate the dentist for working with me to fix my chipped tooth, but the front desk associates straight-up lied to me. They told me I was paying for the root canal and that all I would need to do next was get the crown, but that was a complete deception. They only did half the procedure, and now I have to shell out more money to the referred dentist to finish the root canal. It's incredibly frustrating and unprofessional! Beware of this—if you're not in a lot of pain, just wait to go to your regular dentist

Fantastic experience: Great experience! I was a nightmare, but they were the greatest and helped me on a weekend! Dr. Smitherman was helpful, and gave me the best looking bonding job I could have hoped for and exceeded my expectations.. Front staff helped me with my X ray phobia, Katy was great. CiCi was great. Fantastic experience: Dr. Cambell, Hannah, and Maggie were amazing. Hannah was very sweet and kind. When I was administered anesthesia, I tensed up because of the needles. But she helped me breathe, calming me down, and assuring me that I was ok. Maggie helped with the paper work. Made sure I knew my options and helped pick the best one. Dr. Cambell was very thorough and super fast. I didn't even feel the procedure and he was very attentive. All of them answered the questions I had. I tend to have a lot as well, but they put up with me XD. Final verdict? 20/10 service all around. I'm for sure coming back.

Fantastic experience: I had a filling come out on Saturday afternoon. The emergency dentist was able to get me in Sunday morning on my day off. The dental hygienist, Hannah, was very helpful. The dentist able to repair the filling and have exam in less than an hour.

Negative experience: This review is for Emergency Dentist of Austin located at 1030 Norwood Park Blvd Unit 324 Austin, TX 78753 United States I came into this facility on a Saturday because my dentist was closed. It turns out I have a fractured tooth which is causing excruciating pain. I’d been awake for 18 hours as the onset of this pain occurred at midnight. Since then, I have been taking 800 mg of ibuprofen every six hours. This has effectively done nothing to help. So my options as provided by the dentist were to have a referral to an endodontist, a bite force reduction which had already been done last Wednesday, or an extraction. I have had a few teeth extracted in my life. It hurts like hell for a few days. This dentist, as a solution for pain management, post surgically, was ibuprofen. Refused any other options. I can’t believe that I’m going to have to suffer until Monday because this dentist refuses to prescribe hydrocodone. To force someone to remain in pain either awaiting the appointment for an endodontist, or post surgically, is absolutely incontrovertibly barbaric. I do not recommend this dentist office. Dr. Smithman (or maybe Smitherman) should be absolutely ashamed of herself. I have no other options but to suffer with level eight on a 1 to 10 scale of pain until Monday due to the psychopath thinking it’s funny to withhold pain management/control measures from a patient who desperately needs it. I am a 50 year old commercial truck driver who possesses hazmat and tanker endorsements, with no history of substance abuse, subject to frequent drug screening and she wants to withhold perfectly justifiable pain management? Even pulling the tooth and offering two days of pain relief from the surgery would have been adequate. Maybe 8 tablets if taken every 6 hours would have been fine. I understand there is an epidemic of opioid abuse but this situation exceeds ridiculous. She left me in AGONY, which I’m still in at present, awaiting my dentist to open at 0730 Monday morning. I pray he has an availability for me because this is horrible. All because a power tripping dentist refused to help a patient in pain.

Fantastic experience: Had a quick and easy tooth extraction, no wait got taken care of quickly. Cici was amazing ! she explained all the details to us about the procedure and financial part. If you’re in need of a tooth pulled this is the place to go to.

I am new to Austin & have yet to establish a dentist here, so I was freaking out when I had a dental emergency over the weekend where my front tooth broke in half & one of my dental implants was messed up. I was luckily able to get an appointment here on Saturday at 8am. The staff was so helpful & friendly and the location was very well kept. Dr. Smitherman was amazing! She was very thorough in her evaluation & really helped talk through all of my options with me. I ended up getting a root canal and it was fast, seamless, and painless. She was also about to bond my broken tooth back together & you wouldn't even know anything had happened with how good it looks. She helped refer me to a follow up dentist as well. I had a great experience here and would definitely recommend!
