Negative experience: Very bad experience. I was given an estimate quote for a crown for $1500 to $1700. When I got there for my appt yesterday, the amount for the crown was $3100! They had lied to me. This was very upsetting for me and they never even apologized to me. An hour of traveling time to Gainesville for the appt, it was a complete waste of my time. I will never ever go back there again, nor will I recommend University Family Dentistry to anyone.

Positive experience: I had a wonderful experience with most of their dental team. I felt like my cleaning and exam was very comprehensive. Having said that, I was there for a little over 3 hours. My daughter had an appointment at the same time and didn’t have a cleaning. She was there for over 2 hours and ended up missing a class due to the appointment. I am going back because I really thought the quality of the care I received was great and I’m hopeful that the time issues were due to being short staffed or something that was an isolated situation.

Fantastic experience: The care and atmosphere is WONDERFUL. I moved from GA to FL few years ago and use to go back to GA for all my dental work. My Wife found University Family Dental so I decided to give them a shot. We I have not regretted that decision at all. Infact like my decision to move to Florida I wish I would have found This Dental office years ago.

Fantastic experience: The wait was not long and the care was amazing. They were kind and thoughtful and gentle.

Positive experience: Dr Dickens is caring, kind and listens to any concerns you may have. She offers options for your care plan when applicable. This office is always very busy and the hygienists are pulled from patient to patient, even during cleanings, so expect to spend about two hours for a cleaning. The staff is all very nice and they try to make your appointment a pleasant one.

Fantastic experience: I had a terrible toothache and was miserable! I called my dentist, University Family Dentistry to make an appointment as soon as possible. Unfortunately, they were booked up, and short staffed. One word comes to mind regarding their willingness to help me, KINDNESS! They found a way to see me the same day, created a treatment plan, and gave me much needed pain relief. Everyone was so helpful, and professional. I am pleased to be an existing patient with their practice.

Fantastic experience: First of all, UFD was the only family/pediatric dentist office that could accept a new patient without having to wait more than 6 months. My daughter had a broken tooth that was an emergency that happened on Friday night. And even though the office was closed, there was somebody able to schedule me an appointment for first thing Monday morning. They were very quick and efficient. And got my daughter scheduled for oral surgery for the next day. We were impressed with the speed and care that they took with my daughter. They also took care of the immediate problem without wasting time and going over everything else that was wrong. They fixed the immediate problem and kindly scheduled us for the next appointment to deal with other things. Overall we were very thankful for this clinic to have treated us so promptly! We will now be forever patients!

Negative experience: Today, I submitted an online inquiry to schedule a new patient appointment for my child. About an hour later, I received a call from the office. I provided all the necessary information, and the representative scheduled an appointment for July 30th. As we were finishing up, she asked if my child needed any accommodations. I explained that my child is Autistic and would just need procedures to be explained beforehand. She then asked me to hold. When she returned, she said, “Sorry, we are not accepting new patients.” It felt incredibly disheartening and discriminatory that they were willing to schedule the appointment—until I mentioned my child’s Autism. The timing made it seem like the refusal was based on my child’s needs, which is deeply unfair and hurtful.

She took the time to explain everything and genuinely cared about my comfort. The whole team was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Excellent practice! I've been going there for 7? years. I have never had any problems with things like getting treated quickly for emergent care or, ease of reschedules. They go over your treatment plan with you in plain language. They are approachable and make it easy for you to ask them questions. They tell you cost up front. Fantastic experience: I was seen in a timely manner. I was evaluated. Given options. They were gracious enough to try to work me in to have my tooth extracted. So I didn't have to make the over our trip at another date. Dr Diaz was fantastic. Even with working me into their schedule. She never rushed or hurried. Explain what she was doing the whole time. Her dentist's assistant was also fabulous. I know the extraction took a little longer than they were planning. I hope her other patients didn't get upset. With that I hope her other patients understand that she's willing to do that little extra. This was my first visit there. Hoping I don't have to go back a lot. LOL. I think I have found a dentist that is trustworthy and looks after your well-being.

Fantastic experience: The most thorough exam I've ever had. All staff were great. All went well, given the sad state of my ancient teeth. They did a scan of my teeth and I was sure the resulting picture was a mistake - baboon teeth found by palaeontologists in a cave in Uganda maybe. But they insisted they are my teeth. I'm still not 100% convinced.

Negative experience: I love Dr.Dickens and this office but the prices are outrageous, honestly highway robbery at this point. I was able to get a crown for almost 500$ cheaper than their office prices. Really sad because I love the poole who work here. Please do better.

Positive experience: Since my initial call to this dental office I felt welcome. Although it took close to six months to schedule my initial assessment, staff were accomodating and scheduled follow up appointments for cleaning and other dental work. Now I have my husband scheduled for an appointment. Keep up the excellent work!

Fantastic experience: The first visit to this practice. Called them with an urgent problem. They gave an appointment the next work day. The hygienist took x-ray and photos. Dr Diaz addressed the remedy succinctly. Couple of more x-ray. In short, every interaction convinced me this practice oozes competence. Will update the review with the "after" remedy experience, in a couple of months.

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to have this dental office nearby! During a cleaning, Mia (the BEST dental hygienist), found something on my back tooth and (luckily) they further explored it. Days later, I went in for a temporary crown and met Dr Dickens and Nicole. They are both smart, patient, and kind. They kept my appointment time light, funny, and as comfortable as possible-especially for a difficult temporary crown. I ended up having tooth pain later and needed a referral for a possible root canal. Staff was on top of responding, sending in antibiotics and steroids, and a referral so I could get in somewhere ASAP. Very grateful to Mia for finding this issue and for saving my tooth! Also, the office manager, Erin, is absolutely amazing. She is a gem and a commodity to this practice! As is the other staff I’ve met and mentioned. Thank you for caring about your patients and for working so hard for us! I appreciate all of your patience, persistence, kindness, and hard work.

Fantastic experience: I decided to give University Family Dentistry a try after not being happy with a previous dentist. Erin was so welcoming at the desk, explaining the paperwork. Every person that looked at my teeth was very nice and explained everything thoroughly. I am very happy with this dental practice and highly recommend. On the way out Erin was great explaining the treatment plan and the charges.

Fantastic experience: Dee, the dental assistant greeted me warmly, and made me feel as comfortable as one can in a dentist chair. She was professional and knowledgable. Dr. Dickens was more than I could expect. Very knowledable about my specific issue. Gave me all the options in a concise and honest manner. Fantastic experience: I am a new patient at University Family Dentistry. My first appointment was the best experience I have ever had at a dentist’s office. The staff were professional throughout the x-rays and during my 2 fillings. I was anxious at first, but my fears were eased when I was getting my fillings done. I will definitely be back. The fillings were very well done and the hygienist was calm and reassuring and she did an excellent job. The waiting room is also clean and inviting with coffee and they offered me water or a blanket if needed.

Negative experience: When a patient goes in to a dentist experiencing pain, you expect to be dealing with professionals. My experience was everything but that! The “x-ray” girl didn’t have a clue what she was doing. When attempting to explain she was completely uninterested. The doctor. A joke comes in another person who looked lost I believe her name was maybe dr. Lopez. She also had no idea where to start. She started to ask me questions as I attempted to explain; because she didn’t understand what I was saying she got upset when I advised her no, that’s not what I was explaining. She became very sensitive and stated that my tone was hostile. I laughed at her got up and walked out. Funny fact is again you’re talking to people who are visiting you because they have mouth pain. If you’re going to be a dentist, be a professional. You suck!

Negative experience: Had a bad experience with staff not listening to a request from our orthodontist for my youngest. Also, my oldest was told they had multiple cavities costing hundreds of dollars by them. We left and got a second opinion. New dentist says there are no cavities! Do not go here.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly nice, even to nervous patients! No judgement, despite years in between cleanings. They take their time. I needed a moment in the middle of my cleaning, and the young woman just stopped and gave me a minute to take a breath. She was gracious and gentle. I have every confidence that they will be able to take care of me now and in the future. These people have made me so glad that I chose them from my insurance list!

Fantastic experience: Saying I’m scared of the dentist is an understatement and I recently had to go in for a same day emergency visit. Dr. Dickens was short staffed and personally checked me in and ended up seeing me as well. I told my fears to staff member, Miguel and he took extra time and care to make sure I was comfortable and not scared. Dr. Dickens also genuinely listened to my concerns and made sure I was taken very well care of. She found me the quickest appointment for the procedure needed and scheduled a next day check in call. This level of care is very impressive and certainly earned my trust. I look forward to continuing to use them regularly. Thank you Dr. Dickens and staff for treating me like family.

Negative experience: I feel bad to have to leave this review, but people really need to be warned about this establishment. I have been a patient here for several years now. In the past 1-2 years, something has gone very wrong with the administrative side of the business. Most recent bad experience: I have an appointment on a certain day. I notice no one has called me to confirm (typically in the past they always did). So I call to ask if I have an appointment that day. I'm told they can't tell if I have an appointment that day because they are having a system issue. They tell me they will call me back. They never do. So I decide to drive (30 minutes) to my appointment anyway because I really need the appointment. I arrive. I'm told that since I didn't confirm (they never called me to confirm!), they canceled my appointment and gave it to someone else. They say "hold on, let me see what I can do" and go into the back to see if I can be seen that day. I wait for 15 minutes before finally just leaving and making an appointment with a different dentist. There have been other similar experiences over the past 1-2 years. It's just currently a very poorly run business, which is too bad because the dental hygienists and dentists are all very nice.

Negative experience: This used to be a good place but they will push unnecessary procedures which means you will always have a bill with them since dental insurance is spotty with coverage. Today they canceled my daughter's appointment because we have a past due balance. She is in pain and they don't care even though they've taken care of her teeth for more than 10 years and we've always taken care of the balance. We'll be finding a new provider.

Negative experience: I’m not even a person who writes reviews but just had the most unprofessional encounter with this office. I used to go to this practice before they move into the new location so I figured let’s go back to them…I scheduled an appt with this office and time was confirmed by text earlier this week. I have new insurance so I thought let me do my due diligence and contact the practice before my appointment to make sure that I don’t run into any issues on the day of my scheduled appointment, especially since I have new dental insurance. So the same day that my appointment was confirmed, I contacted their office by phone and spoke to one of the receptionist to confirm/verify if my insurance was in network even provided my appointment time/day. I don’t have my insurance card but the rep didn’t make it seem like it would be an issue.. The receptionist asked what dental policy I had and I provided her my insurance company name. I was informed insurance was accepted and that was all the information she provided at that time. I get a call 20 mins before my appointment TODAY, just to be told that since I was not a new patient (last name change) and hadn’t been seen in there office since 2015, that I would only be getting X-rays and not a cleaning and that I would be scheduled in May of 2025 for a cleaning, so I was only coming into their office today for X-rays…..Before leading up this, she continuously put me hold without even asking me to “hold for a moment.” I just think that the phone reps need additional training to make appointments run smoother for Patients, as they have jobs, as do we and to be informed of last minutes scheduling conflicts is very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Technician kept repeatedly telling me how weird my teeth looked the entire time. She pushed a procedure despite me saying no and ended up doing it. Estimates were not clearly reviewed. I explicitly said no to something on the estimate and it remained there. Doctor was nice but kept pushing cosmetic procedures despite me saying I like my teeth. All in all will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Oh my gosh at 72. I’ve been to the dentist frequently, So when I say this, I say it with experience. This place was amazing.! They were professional and went out of the way to make sure I was comfortable not in pain and worked out a plan for my future dental needs.

Negative experience: I was a bit disappointed in the dentist. He seemed to stab at what might be wrong. First he was sure it is referred pain then infection in the root. He referred me for a root canal. I mentioned antibiotics he said nothing. I went home and thought about it. I am a retired surgical nurse and we would ALWAYS give antibiotics if there was any hint of infection. I called back later and insisted. I got them. Lucky to have some medical knowledge.

Everybody was nice and patient but getting everything just right I cannot thank them enough for doing my temporary crown today and going out of the way to make sure everything was OK for my trip out of the country.

Negative experience: I booked an appointment for a cleaning. I just wanted to note while they were looking at my teeth that I had a little tooth pain and they turned it into an emergency appointment and then charged me for x-rays that I didn't need cuz in a few weeks I'm getting more x-rays during the actual checkup. Don't understand how that happened I never said I need an emergency appointment. Thank you to whoever I talk to today that could actually understand what I needed and could actually help me.

Negative experience: Poor communication between staff, high prices. No consideration for out of pocket cost, senior citizens, or veterans. And on intake paperwork, why ask what your preferred name is if it's not used. Do not recommend....

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about University Family Denistry. The first time I contacted them about a problem I was having I was seen the same day which is almost an impossibility these days. Dr Diaz and her staff have all been exceptionally kind and helpful. Being new to the area I certainly lucked out finding such a great dental practice.

Negative experience: The procedures are professional but the prices are a scam. I was charged $800 for one molar tooth extraction. $160 for a "consultation" that was the dental assistant looking at my tooth for a second and saying it needs to go. Do not go as they will upcharge anyone!

I understand that stuff may come up, but to have so many come up back to back near when my appointments were coming up was making it very disruptive to my schedule and I unfortunately had to go see another dentist office to get cleaning.

These dentists, especially Dr Dickens have hit a home run with this all women staffed office that always seems to run on schedule.
