Negative experience: We have been patients here for years, but I will be looking for a new dentist. It went way downhill since they were at the old location. I had a billing dispute over services that were not performed and they still insist on billing me. Despite the fact that the dental services are at least adequate, I would not recommend this practice even if it were an emergency and all of my teeth were in danger of falling out. The office manager Brittany is very difficult to deal with.

Negative experience: The Dr was nice however the majority of the staff makes you feel like a inconvenience as well as they have bait and switch tactics they get you to agree to a price do the work then turn around on a follow up visit and stay it’s more than expected very shady practices

Negative experience: This office is covered under my insurance and is very close to my home, so I gave it a shot, I first had a tooth pulled, no issues there On my second visit, there was a white nurse with tattoos on her arms, can't remember her name, who recommended I get a gingivitis clean, so I went ahead and got it done, and ever since I got it done, the tooth in the middle of the bottom row has been extremely sensitive to wind or anything cold/hot, I believe she drilled too deep in between the 2 bottom middle teeth which caused this. It has been a few months and I am still the same. I would give 0 stars if I could. Anyone thinking of coming here, you have been warned.

Negative experience: At one time this was a great dentistry but today I had my teeth cleaned and they didn’t even descale. I was so disappointed that for the first time I asked for my money back. They charged me $85 for 10 minutes of cleaning. They said I had great teeth and didn’t need it. I spoke to the manager who refuse to give any time to discuss how bad I felt I was treated. I have given many reviews but never one that has been bad. Just felt people need to know that they should stay away

Negative experience: I had to cancel my appointment due to surgery. I was not able to get an appointment for 6 months. When I finally got my appointment apparently I had a lot of plaque and I had the most painful cleaning in my 76 years at the dentist! Also the day before I confirmed my appointment for 11:00 to see if I could come earlier and they said no. When I got there the next day I was told my appointment was at 11:30.

Negative experience: I went in due to a broken crown. My initial exam was wonderful, as I thought I found a dentist I liked. They ran my insurance and come back and told me how much I would be responsible for, for that new crown. I paid half of the cost at the initial appointment. Before going back for the second appointment to get the permanent crown, I received a bill for a higher payment that I was initially told. After speaking to my insurance, I was informed that the type of crown this office does, is not even covered by my insurance, leaving me to pay the difference. I’m not sure why someone would quote a patient on a service not even offered by my insurance. When I called and spoke to billing, she said it’s “only $88”. Then after getting frustrated by not getting a clear answer on why, she told me she would have the office manager call me. I never received a phone call. I had high hopes for this place after my first appointment, only to feel like I wasn’t even worth a phone call or explanation as to why.

Negative experience: As far as individual experience it was positive but if you’re like me and need somewhere that will complete their due diligence with your insurance to ensure you are maximizing your covered benefits this is not the best place for you. My original experience visiting the office was great I received a cleaning I needed for some time. However after my appointment I received an unexpected bill for X-rays that I did not realize I was out of utilization with my insurance. When I contacted my insurance I was informed that this should’ve been checked beforehand with them to avoid the charge along with another service (albeit small amount) that I did not request & was not covered by my insurance for my age I was also charged for. The dentist office gives me a high amount of anxiety so when this was clarified to me that this was in part of lack of due diligence on the office I was screaming on the phone at the frustration & gaslighting of a standard new patient appointment turning into a $180 bill. I’m not proud of my loss of temper but given the circumstances and the offices unwillingness to clarify with me until my insurance office called them asking standard questions my frustration, reasonable in my opinion, was expressed through a raised voice (where I called no one out of their name or swore). Once I received the information I needed to clarify the situation I hung up the phone, paid the adjusted balance we agreed upon & did not contact them again until I did not receive confirmation for my follow up cleaning. When I called she originally confirmed & then called back hours later stating I had been dismissed as a client (with no notice). I had to request a letter & my X-rays to be sent to a new provider. Not only was this experience inconsiderate but it was unprofessional. I’m sure I’m not the first call they’ve received like this & I agree it’s best that I no longer attend this office. A suggestion would be to give better customer service & follow through on the front end instead of focusing your efforts on padding a clients invoices & dismissing them when they call you out on it.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend Longwood Family Dentistry. Dr. Dennis and the staff are wonderful. I have come to this practice for 40 years. At one point, I lived in Tampa for a few years so I tried a local dentist. I quickly saw the difference and decided that I would rather commute back to Longwood for my appointments rather than change my dentist. I found that this other dental office was impersonal, seemed to want to get you in and out quickly, and I felt like they were always trying to sell additional services to me. With Dr. Dennis and staff they take the time with you, answer questions, and provide additional services if needed but don’t pressure you. Over this 40 years the dentist has changed as I used to go to Dr. Zullo before he retired. What has stayed the same is the warm feel of this practice and the genuine care they have for their clients.

Fantastic staff who are friendly, professional, and take the time to listen to the patient’s concerns and questions. Dr. Dennis takes time to discuss your care and concerns and explains the various options available to treat you. Very pleased with the outcome of their treatment.

Fantastic experience: The experience here was fantastic. I was referred by a friend months ago after my current dentist told me that my issues were nothing he could address. Additionally, my previous dentist referred me to another clinic that doesn’t take insurance. When I called and explained what my dentist said I should get quoted, they told me it was $300 just for the consult—and that the services would cost between $70,000 and $140,000! I didn’t think my issues were that bad, which is why I sought a second opinion through a friend’s referral. That’s when I discovered Longwood Dentistry. Before making that initial appointment, I chipped a tooth. So I called Longwood instead of my usual dentist. They got me in the next day, and I was sure I would need an emergency root canal based on what my previous dentist had already said about my teeth. However, at Longwood, they simply fixed it with a filling—low-cost, fast—and said that if I wanted one more filling to address my issues, I could get it, but they would never recommend the $70–140k procedure my previous dentist suggested. WHAT A RELIEF! I’d been stressing and researching this stuff for months, and now I feel like all that stress has lifted. They were also so kind, thorough and took their time in their explanations—unlike my previous dentist who was always in a hurry and often times was not even in the office on cleaning days. I’m not a big reviewer, but this was definitely worth the glowing review. With my insurance, imm going to get my issues fixed with Longwood for the price of the CONSULT at the clinic my other dentist sent me to. WOW!

Fantastic experience: As someone who hadn’t been to the dentist in a long time and was terrified of getting my tooth pulled they were absolutely amazing, they made sure I was comfortable and felt no pain during the procedure, made sure to take their time and not rush it, Dr Dennis is great it was a great welcoming experience for someone who is not used to going!

Negative experience: The dentist is absolutely the best I’ve ever had strongly and highly recommended. The issue is their finance and invoicing department. They get their bills mixed up, they charge you for work that has not been done, when you call and asked to speak to the manager, they are never there. You leave a message requesting a call back 6 times and you even go in in person and request them to call you back and they never do. And then they proceed to submit you to collections. I have perfect credit and always pay my bills, When the client is asking questions regarding the invoice and it’s documented in your system (yes I asked if there are notes of us requesting to be contacted multiple times) you don’t submit them to collections when the ball is in your court and the client’s waiting for your response. In another case, when calling about another bad invoice, once it’s settled you ask them to submit a new invoice with the correct amounts so that you can pay. They email you a PDF. That’s fine but there’s no link to pay so I emailed them back asking for a link to pay and the only response is “we sent that to you in an earlier email”. Maybe they did maybe they didn’t I don’t know but the fact is your client is asking for a link to pay you why would you just not include it? I feel like I’m dealing with 16-year-olds here. In summary while the dentist is absolutely awesome unfortunate I could never recommend them to anybody in good conscience unless they were to get a new office manager.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment at this dental office, and it was a great experience from start to finish. I’m usually very sensitive when it comes to dental work, but they used a special liquid anesthesia that made the cleaning almost painless—I barely felt a thing. They also did X-rays and a thorough oral cancer screening, which I really appreciated. The doctor was incredibly gentle, professional, and kind, which helped me feel more at ease. Highly recommend, especially if you’re a bit nervous or sensitive like me!

Positive experience: Longwood Family Dentistry was recommended by friends. I called and made an appointment six months out. The texted me two weeks prior and I asked via text if I could change and they texted me back that they had a cancellation at 12:30 the next day. Next day at 11 they called me and told me I missed my appointment. I told the girl that I didn’t and was on the way in for my 11:30 appointment and that I had the time in text. Sorry for your luck, I can book you six months out. I drove over there and showed them my text and they admitted that someone had put 10:30 on their system. I asked it it was good to go a year without a checkup and they admitted it was not. They had a cancellation and got me in the next day. Nice people and I think it will be a good place to stay with. But dealing with them is frustrating because they don’t answer the phone .

I went there with no appointment just to see if they could help me on nothing more than her referral. I was in an exam chair within 15 minutes and was treated with care, respect, and humor. Fantastic experience: I have been a patient for over 30 years. Recently, i had a dental emergency and they managed to see me the same day. They prescribed antibiotics and pain management medicine to get me through until the day of the procedure. They are great.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, 12/27 I had the pleasure of working with Dr Alvin R Dennis for an emergency tooth extraction for my husband. The office was impeccably clean. There was fully stocked water in the fridge for patients, branded pens in the bucket, receptionist was wonderful! Caring, kind, gentle. We had a wonderful experience! Mind you we don’t live in Longwood but because of the experience and convenience of this location we will be traveling here from now on va up the road from where I live. The Dr is wonderful, knowledgeable, and very empathetic. We went there self pay I expected but hoped for a Christmas miracle that wouldn’t require a struggling mom like me to go on a payment plan but I was willing to do it because my husband was in pain. Dr Alvin R Dennis worked with us and pricing was reasonable. Happy Holidays to all! Thank you for giving us hope again in quality care. Update came back on my birthday 214 as a new patient and the service was wonderful. Everything is clear and concise communication. I’m so happy I went back.

Negative experience: Buyer beware. Read the reviews on billing. We’ve had countless billing issues. Billed for services 1. We didn’t agree to and were not part of the estimate (e.g., went in for teeth whitening trays and paid out of pocket - they billed my insurance, gave me 3 different reasons why, all of which were not valid). 2. Services our kids didn’t have, like at all. They lost 5 customers all with commercial insurance because the manager would not call us back (after 4 requests), they sent me to collections over $50.00 while we were waiting in the call back from the manager that never happened . Here’s the deal, commercial insurance has a higher margin/return. They billed my insurance wrongfully. Basically make up the money where you can. Ok, so you lost 5 customers, our friends have all heard not to go. What type of business model is this? FYI - the male dentist is as nice as can be but unfortunately, unethical practice!

Fantastic experience: Visited Longwood Dentistry hoping for help with implants, my dentist had retired, the dentist i was referred to doesn't accept my insurance. I had been waiting 4-5 mos with mouth prepared, extractions done. saw Dr Dennis who took me on and performed procedure with minimal discomfort with prescribed meds. All the work they did to me that I probably never needed. He has fixed so much for me and has never given me any treatments Ive not needed! Fantastic experience: Dr Dennis and his staff are amazing. Waiting room is ample and quiet. Have never waited more than a few minutes to be taken into a room. This practice delivers a top notch experience.

Negative experience: Dr Dennis is very nice but it’s frustrating that appointments always take so long. I’m not sure if they double book him but it’s always forever waiting. Office follow through is frustrating as well. My most recent visit I had a tooth extraction and they were supposed to call the prescriptions into the pharmacy. By late afternoon they were still not called in so I called the office to inquire as to when it would be done and they said before they leave. Needless to say they were not called in! I called first thing in the morning to tell them again that the scripts were not called in. It was almost 24 hours after that I got the needed medications.

I appreciate Dr. Dennis’ gentle and thorough manner. I feel confident under his care. Great practice, the staff are very attentive and helpful in every aspect.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from my first visit to Longwood Family Dentistry. What a great experience! Everybody was really friendly and on time, Carissa did a great job cleaning my teeth and Dr. Dennis was very thorough with his examination. I will definitely go back there again. Highly recommended!

Positive experience: The cleaning was very painful and three days later I still have an irritated area on the back of my gums from the cleaning. I also feel the prices are higher than other dentist for a cleaning.

Positive experience: The office is nice and the staff is professional. I don't particularly care for my dental hygientist, but plan on asking ahead of time for someone different for my next cleaning. Other than that, I would say they are a safe and reasonable family dentist.
