Negative experience: I was a new patient with opelika dentalassociates not more than about six months and I received a card in the mail reading $500 off Invisalign liners and free bleaching and free retainers total value of $1000. I went in to talk with them about getting the Invisalign liners And they told me that my insurance would pay half of the cost. I agreed to proceed with the treatment, but about halfway through they told me that my insurance would not cover Half after reassuring me three different times that they would. I complained to the manager about this and she got very rude with me saying that I signed a paper saying that I would pay anything that my insurance wouldn’t pay. But I interjected stating that she reassured me in the beginning that they would pay half. I called my insurance company to talk to them about it, and they said that there was no way that they could have thought that my policy would have paid half so they just totally lied to me, but I went ahead and finished out the payments myself. When I got my last set of retainers, I ask about my free bleaching, and the manager told me that it did not include a free bleaching that it only came with a tube of whitening. I showed her the coupon and showed her it reads $500 toward the Invisalign and it’s $1000 total in saving so where does the other $500 go toward and she told me she did not have to explain that to me and when I left she told me have a day that I deserve. This place is nothing but un professionalism in the worst way she lied to me knowing that my insurance would not have paid half and also declined to give me my free bleaching which the coupon clearly stated. obviously I will never go back to this place and I warn you not to go there to start with because they will lie to you. I called the office back per owners instructions and the manager still wanted to argue with me about the free bleaching that was clearly stated on the card. They simply do not want to settle this complaint so I’m left with no choice but to get my attorney to file a lawsuit.

Negative experience: My mother in law had pain so we took her to this clinic to extract the tooth. They told her it needed deep cleaning and crown and they can save the tooth. So she went through that. They charged $2942 in cash. Less than a week and her pain started again and was bleeding. They asked to visit and while we were there she said it’s a small fix to adjust the crown. But then she said she may have to do a root canal and will refer to another doctor who can decide if the tooth needs to be extracted or root canal can fix it. That would be another $1200. Alexis Gibbs was the provider and it seems like she was doing trial and error. When we asked for her medical history to be printed, they started asking all kind of questions as to why we need that and tried to delay and avoid it as much as possible. Then she said she does not feel we trust her to address the situation and so she can no longer can treat her. We went to other clinic nearby and explained it to the doctor there and he took care of it in one visit and she is all good now. What a waste of time and money and stress to go through just for tooth extraction. I would not trust this place for a fair treatment. Seems like their primary goal is not patients care.

Fantastic experience: From Angie on the phone/front desk to hygienist Jessica to Dr. Dodson, it was a very friendly dental office with professional and personal customer service. Thursday, August 28th, 2025; LaTonya helped fit my maxillary partial 8/9 retainer today. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Gibbs suggested I "test drive" the partial throughout this Labor Day weekend before an attempt to adjust the metal side bars for a tighter fit that could injure gums or other side teeth. The tooth and gum colors are good matches. Thank you very much.

Negative experience: Updated to respond to business comment: If a dentist was scheduled to speak to me, I was not informed of this when I asked to speak with one at the beginning of the appointment. I told the lady I wanted to speak to someone about the issues we were having. Not to have the dentist at the door not even acknowledging me. I don't even know what the dentist name is that was supposedly scheduled to speak with me or the one who stood at the door. As a new patient, I would think you would make it a point to introduce your dentists and figure out the patients concerns. None of that was done. I communicated during my appointment, but they did not. They've lost a patient because of this. We went in for an appointment for myself and an appointment for my fiance. We haven't been to the dentist in a long time because we were not insured, but we have dental insurance through work now and we both want to get our teeth fixed for our wedding in September. I went in first and the lady asked me if I had any issues and I told her it has been a while since we've been to a dentist and we wanted to speak to someone about some holes I have in my teeth and my fiance would need to speak to someone about some restorative things he would need done. She took some X-rays of my teeth and then the dentist came to the door. Didn't walk in the room at all, just stood there at the door talking about how they couldn't do a regular cleaning and they would have to do something completely different since it's been so long since I've been to a dentist and there was buildup in my gums. Totally understandable. I just don't understand why the dentist herself couldn't have spoke to me personally. A consultation as a new patient would have been great. Instead, they gave me a quote they wanted me to sign, which I refused because I don't want a surprise bill in the mail in a few weeks. I told her we can't afford that today, canceled mine and my fiances appointment, and walked out. They made me feel like crap... I just wanted to speak with someone about options we may have to fix the issues we were trying to communicate. I didn't feel heard. It was a terrible experience.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Cochran and her staff are absolutely amazing. So compassionate and caring. They fit me in the day before Thanksgiving for an issue. I was struggling with. They have also taken such good care of both of my boys ever since we relocated to Auburn. I appreciate them and highly recommend them!

Negative experience: I strongly advise against choosing this office for Invisalign treatment. The staff demonstrated a lack of professionalism and seemed unconcerned with the health or positioning of my teeth. Upon sitting down, an employee immediately began discussing pricing, which turned out to be $1,000 more than what two reputable orthodontists in town, Dr. Sprayberry and Dr. Shelley, charge. When I questioned how they could provide a price estimate without first examining my teeth, the employee responded that it was “just standard pricing.” Despite having a simple case, they attempted to charge me for comprehensive Invisalign treatment without any understanding of my current dental alignment. I recommend avoiding this office for Invisalign—and possibly for other services as well.

Negative experience: Let’s list just a few of the issues I had with this office on my first appointment, not happy: 1. Never cleaned my teeth 2. Dentist never looked at my teeth to verify work needing to be done or opinions 3. Authorization for husband was not followed up as to why claim was denied (the insurance company requires gum probing be done prior to authorization for deep cleaning to verify work) no due diligence 4. Dental Hygienist issues, oh boy on this one: 5. Bad mouthed my old Hygienist (which I loved) 6. Would “absolutely not do deep cleaning without shots given” (Procedure can in fact be done without shots, depends on patient) not my first rodeo on this one! 7. Said it was up to the insurance company to approve all quads be done at the same time (again, not true per insurance company, it’s up to the hygienist and is always approved for all quads to be done at one time if patient request) 8. Office manager and hygienist didn’t know about dental paste (Triamcinolone) and asked me how and when did I use it, wanted to see the box or pull it up online to see the instructions (why didn’t the dentist herself get involved) 9. Was told we needed deep cleaning yet when I called to make the appointment they didn’t know about the procedures were needing to be done nor the claim was denied, WHAT? This is just a few issues and I didn’t feel comfortable about the knowledge of this office or their professionalism.

Negative experience: I went to Opelika Dental last week for the removal of two teeth. The office staff was great. My hygienist was also great. I even had a great experience with Dr Dodson during this process. The problem arose the following day. I felt terrible. My temp spiked to 103. I never get fevers. I was experiencing tremendous pain. I called the office to let them know. I was told that since my temp was so high I must have a virus and should go to my primary doctor or urgent care. I asked over and over about maybe it was an infection in my tooth?? They said no it had to be something else and would not see me. I was shocked. I think I even called them three times because I kept talking to different people to make sure someone wasn’t just getting it wrong. Same answer. That same day I spoke to another dentist in town, explained the situation, and he agreed to see me the following day. He took a look, saw that I had “dry socket” which is really painful and not uncommon to get after an extraction. He prescribed an antibiotic and by the next day I felt 100% better. The following day Opelika Dental called to ask how I was feeling?! Unbelievable. They would not call in antibiotics, no pain meds or concern for a 102 temp. Made me feel like a crazy person!! I was not and still not sick from a “pre existing” virus or illness.

Negative experience: I at first loved this office. My second appointment came around and I was handed dirty glasses with the previous patients foundation left on them, meaning they hadn't even been wiped. I was then charged $140 for what was supposed to be a filling, then come to find out I needed a root canal and they put temporary filing in a tooth that needed said root canal, they stated the money would go towards the root canal. I told them I was not going to have the root canal with them and they still would not refund me.

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to Auburn and didn’t have a dentist yet. I was experiencing a problem with a tooth, and they fit me in quickly. They were nice, the office was clean, and everything was very pleasant.
