He is thorough, patient, caring and honest about the costs of what you really need. He understands and acknowledges my prior trauma with previous dentists. Fantastic experience: 16 SEP 2025 - Well, once again I was VERY blessed to not have any new problems with my teeth. Also, none of the issues that I already knew about (but still haven't gotten anything done to fix them) have gotten any worse, which is a small miracle considering how poor my dental hygiene has been!! I REALLY need to get the ball rolling with the VA to get accepted into their Dental care program, so that WFD can get the authorization to take care of the 2 cavities and another new crown. I would also like to have my missing tooth replaced with an implant, which the VA will absolutely NOT allow to be done by any Community Care dentist. ************************************************ 12 MAR 25 - I had another check-up/cleaning done on Wednesday afternoon. This time, I wasn't as lucky as I was last August, bcuz I have 2 cavities which are going to need to be taken care of. I also have still not managed to get the paperwork submitted to the VA to enable me to have my dental fees paid for by them. Once again, the care & customer service that I received from WFD was absolutely top-notch, and I would definitely recommend anyone to become one of their patients, hands-down. ********************************************** 2 AUG 2024 - I had another check-up/cleaning done on my teeth yesterday. I didn't have any new cavities, which is great. I think that it must be due to the new toothbrush that my wife finally convinced me to use when she bought it for me as a present last year. It's an Oral-B iO battery powered brush, and it cleans VERY WELL!!! I did get mildly chewed out by my hygienist though bcuz I've been procrastinating (again) about sending a form to the VA which will get them to authorize me to receive my dental care from the VA since I am 100% Service-connected Disabled now. Right now they are referring all of their dental care out to the Community Care Network, which means that I will still get my care done by Westlakes Family Dental, but the VA will pay the bill for me. ************************************* 11 OCT 23 - Today I had to go in to get a tooth extracted which split in half on me about a week ago while I was eating a breakfast burrito with some pieces of crispy bacon in it. It had cracked vertically bcuz of an old filling being deteriorated, and went all the way down into the roots, so there was zero chances of saving it. Dr. Mach and her Assistant (I think his name was Tim) did a wonderful job of trying to ensure my comfort during the procedure, which was rather lengthy bcuz one of the roots was being VERY stubborn about coming out, and they had to work every possible angle they could think of to finally get it out without doing too much damage to the bone that it was embedded in. ************************************* 2 Jan 2023 - This Dental Clinic is still VERY good in my opinion, so they will definitely continue to get our business for the foreseeable future. I really like the fact that they are not high pressure salespersons who try everything they can think of to talk you into getting stuff done that you really don't need or want. For example, they offered me fluoride today (which has been proven to be a neurotoxin) and I said no thanks, and she said OK. Also I had a tooth that a chunk of it broke off on me a while back. It doesn't even hurt me at all and I have gotten so used to it that I almost forgot about it. Today, they offered me a Crown for it again, and they said that I should get one sooner rather than later bcuz there's a chance that more of it could break off down underneath the gumline, and it's more susceptible to getting a cavity in the inner portion of my tooth which is exposed, and is much closer to the roots, so I could end up needing a root canal on that one too. They told me that they can submit it to my insurance company so they will provide me with an estimate of how much it will cost me, which I agreed to, but for now I said no thank you, and they didn't keep pressuring me to get it done.

Positive experience: I switched dentist after my dentist of over 30 year retired- we miss you Dr. Longoria. Anyway, my husband went to Westlakes first (my guinea pig) and was pleased. So I made the move. The dentist and hygenist were very kind and attentive. The only thing is that there was a lack of detail. I have never had issues after a cleaning or a filling (which was caused by over brushing). Long story short the issue is with callbacks in a timely manner. I left two voicemails about my ptoblem and it took a month to get someone to achedule a follow-up. I am thinking about continuing service but the actual dentistry is okay. Not what I am use to but hey the master retired and can't be replaced.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my experience with Westlakes Family Dental. While I had little to no time to do my research before being placed by the VA, I can say this is a great facility. Everyone from the front desk to the assistants were great! Dr. Mach was especially great taking care of my needs. Can’t wait to finish my treatment here.

Negative experience: I have dental insurance. But they said I am on some periodontal plan they have that insurance doesn't cover and I would need to sign paperwork to get off a plan I never signed up for. Then the dentist would decide if they want to continue seeing me. Well that's easy I won't go back. Like ur the only dentist in town. Nothing ruins a business faster than the people they hire.

Fantastic experience: Love the staff and doctors here at Westlakes Family Dental. The hygienists are amazing, they walk you through everything in what they’re doing and very informative on how to clean your teeth better at home. The dentists are very understanding of your needs and help you the best way they can. The office is really good about going over costs with you for any of fillings or procedures. They’re good about not doing certain things and making sure if your insurance will cover certain things or not. No surprise charges at the end when checking out. They make sure you understand everything before they do anything to you. I really loved this office!

My orthodontist Dr. Ashley Smith, was top notch, friendly, and did wonderful work. Marvin always makes my visit enjoyable. Dr. Royal-Priest is kind and informative. I have had some ongoing issues with some dental work which can naturally breed lots of frustration/anxiety, but she has remained patient throughout the whole process with several unexpected return visits and has done her best to resolve any issues.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was in need of braces & through referrals from others, we settled for the orthodontic team at Westlakes Family Dental. They’ve all been so amazing. This is our first experience with braces & Dr. Shah has taken such good care of us. He & his team have guided us through the entire process - they are super knowledgeable, we never feel rushed or dismissed. He answers all my questions as a mom that has never dealt with braces before. Today was our first checkup after 3 months of use & we saw Dr. Shah & his assistant, Cassie. Both were wonderful & thorough & took amazing care of my girl. Nicole is the billing manager & she took care of all the billing on the ortho side. Literally, every detail. I waited with my daughter while she took care of everything & walked back & forth to give me all the details, a price breakdown, what to expect - the whole thing. Nicole was AMAZING. On the dental side, my husband ended up needing some dental work. We were given a treatment plan from another dentist & it didn’t quite feel right so we searched for a second opinion & I’m so glad we did. His appt was with Dr. Martinez & she is phenomenal. Sure enough, her diagnosis was different, she was thorough, she showed us with pictures, in detail, why she recommended what she did. Her assistant that helped her today was Tim & he was equally as phenomenal. Ana at the front desk is just about one of the kindest people - we were so pleased with the entire office, we ended up switching our entire family to Westlakes, so she helped us make all of our future appointments. Truth be told, our previous dentist is much closer to us, but after the bedside manner & care we received from Dr. Shah & his entire team & Dr. Martinez & her team, we felt like we were in much better hands. I don’t leave many reviews, but there are so many dentist & doctor’s offices nowadays, it’s overwhelming when you’re just searching for the best care for your family - especially dental….not exactly a kid’s favorite place & certainly not the cheapest. Thank you to everyone at WFD for your care.

Westlakes impressed me right away just by identifying 5 additional cavities the other clinic didn't see. Every time I've visited since, they provided me with prompt care in a very reasonable time frame. This is definitely a clinic I will continue to frequent for many years, thank you for your service!

Fantastic experience: First of all, let me say this is a fantastic facility. Probably one of the best experiences I've had for going to a dentist. I was out of town on business and broke a filling and they worked me in as a new patient within a day of this happening which is unheard of. I was in and out with a filling repair in an hour. The staff and providers were top notch and wish I had this facility back at home!

Negative experience: I strongly advise against choosing this dental office. Every time I visit my new dentist, I’m reminded of the mistakes I made by coming here. The staff was rude (besides the ladies in the front love yall) and the work felt rushed. I didn’t realize how bad my experience was until I switched. They gave me a retainer that never fit, causing my teeth to shift—making my braces a complete waste. Thankfully, my new dentist provided a properly fitting retainer, and I finally feel comfortable wearing it. Which I never really realized how bad it was before getting my new one. There is much more that I do not feel comfortable disclosing but to say I hate this office is an understatement. I was a loyal patient for year without knowing the harm. THERE IS a lot moreeee btw. If you come here and they are mean or do a bad job which is likely.. don’t say I didn’t warn you.
