Fantastic experience: I have stayed away from dentists for years because of multiple bad experiences. For me, it was an anxious decision to choose a dentist and I truly feel so so lucky and blessed to have picked Dr. Monica Urda!! She and her team, from the hygienists, assistants, and front office are amazing. I needed some substantial procedures and Dr Urda and her staff made sure the experience was comfortable and literally pain free. Most of all, she and her staff are understanding, kind, and trustworthy. I look forward to my visits. If you are nervous about the dentist for any reason, this is truly the place for you.

Fantastic experience: I try not to do reviews after visiting a place for the first time, because many people present their best selves, you write a review, and the service you receive thereafter is not like the first visit. However, Smile Science has shredded all skepticism on my end! All the people I have encountered have been exceptionally amazing! From the warm welcome, to the extra care, and the attention to details, to the best dentist Dr. Ladley…it all comes in the package at Smile Science. Dr. Ladly called to check on me after getting a filling and it shocked the heck out of me. I have spent years looking for a dental home and I believe finally found it. They are legit, genuine, and simple phenomenal people. I would recommend them 100 times over.

Fantastic experience: First visit at Smile Science in the books. 9 am appointment and the office was alive and full steam. I was checked in promptly at the front reception area and called back within a couple minutes. The facility is clean and modern. It feels a lot larger on the inside that it looks from the outside. They seem to take pride in the appearance of their office, which I value. My teeth cleaning was thorough and the dental assistant explained each step in detail (not overkill though). Highly recommend. Super convenient location just a couple blocks down from the Western (O’Hare stop).

Fantastic experience: I had my first visit today after years of procrastinating and all I can say is that I HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! From the moment I stepped foot into the office I was greeted and felt welcomed. My hygienist Mari was FIRE!!! She explained everything step by step and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I am looking forward to by regular visits. UPDATE: I have now been a patient for a year and I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience.

Positive experience: Very Nice office, very nice and friendly staff. The only thing that bothered me was the high pressure to submit to expensive deep cleaning. I opted for a "regular cleaning and they had to check with the dentist, if they would do it. Then acted as if it was a favor for that they would do it, but next time I would have to spend $$$ to do a deep cleaning, which even with insurance was over $1200. Crazy, I thought I could choose what services I wanted in MY mouth. If I am "forced" to do a deep cleaning on my next visit, I will unfortunately have to look for another dental office.

Fantastic experience: can’t say enough good things about this dental office! From the moment I walk in, I am greeted with genuine smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The entire team is incredibly friendly, professional, and truly cares about your comfort and well-being. Major shout out to Maria, who was so incredibly kind. One of the things I appreciate most is their understanding and compassion for patients without dental insurance. They offer very affordable payment plans, which made it possible for me to get the care I needed without the stress of a huge bill. It's clear they believe everyone deserves access to quality dental care, and they go above and beyond to make that happen.

Negative experience: I went in with a problem and was quoted an amount that was twice what another dentist estimated. When I declined their plan, they still charged me for the check-up they had originally said would be free—draining my insurance for no reason.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Urda, Dr. Joe and staff were extremely professional and have a very streamlined, stress-free process of providing high quality care. Also, very impressed with the facility and equipment – high end… high tech! Makes anyone who visits feel very comfortable from the get-go. I highly recommend this dental spa that features a clean and friendly environment.

Fantastic experience: The friendliest, most comfortable, and timeliest dentist's office I've ever experienced. I've learned so much about my teeth and how to better care for them. (I'd been doing my best based on dentists I'd seen before but turns out there was a lot more to know!) As a 45-year-old I have a kind of hope for my future dental health that I never had before. Dr. Urda all the dental assistants, front desk staff, and scheduling staff have been remarkably kind, personable, patient and informative. I couldn't ask for a better experience.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience from top to bottom. I had an urgent need to fix a broken tooth and was able to get in same day. The office is beautiful, modern and seems to have the latest and greatest of everything. The receptionist was lovely, the assistant was kind and Dr. Urda was thorough and efficient. Fantastic experience: This dentist saved my daughter’s teeth. She had sensitivity and pain and I had taken her to two other dentists several times trying to identify the source. Smile Science found EIGHT missed cavities and has readjusted the bite any time she complains of pain since. Her teeth now feel great and she has comfort from pain for the first time in years. I can not express how appreciative I am to Smile Science.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff was incredibly professional and thorough. My entire first visit lasted one hour and 45 minutes. I never had so many X-rays taken before. And although, I had sent in updated X-rays, I was informed that they preferred to take their own and I would not be charged if my insurance did not cover that cost. I was also fitted for a mouth guard, after learning that I showed signs of grinding my teeth in my sleep. The practice employed the most up-to-date technology I had ever experienced. I was able to view images of my teeth as they were projected on the ceiling while I was comfortably reclined. In addition to the dentist, I was also taken care of by two other staff members, one who took The X-rays, and one who used some futuristic device to measure me for a bite guard. The office seemed brand new, and each exam space was private and roomy.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is always friendly, the dental office is always clean., and it feels like family because everyone is always so accommodating..

Negative experience: Please save your time, money, and sanity and do not go here. Dr. Monica takes an aggressive approach to treatment - I overheard one of the hygienist say to another patient that within the first year of care, she treats everything she sees. This landed me with a multitude of fillings and crowns - far more work than I’ve required in my lifetime, let alone in just one visit. I was 6 months pregnant when I first went in for a cleaning and exam and Dr. Monica took advantage of my impending delivery to create a false sense of urgency, pressuring me into getting all the work done immediately. In retrospect, I don’t think I ever even got a cleaning despite being there for 1.5+ hours. Whenever I expressed concerns about the work they were either brushed off or she gaslighted me into thinking I was crazy. In the end I was left with a lot of bad work (excessively large fillings left with ledges, a crown that is far too dark and lacks any anatomy, etc), a hefty bill, and deep deep regret for falling for the good Google ratings. Don’t make my same mistake!!!!

Brianna, my hygienist, taught me so much and was also very understanding of receptive to some of my needs and requests, and Dr. Urda was INCREDIBLE. Both of them had such good bedside manner and Smile Science is the only place I will be trusting. 10/10 best all around!

Negative experience: they used a device that keeps your mouth open so you cannot relax your jaws. 3/4 of a year later my jaws are still clicking. It sounds like I'm chewing potato chips every time I open my mouth. I will NEVER go back to them. They did not follow the work plan they setup and I agreed to by combining 2 visits into one long session that lasted about 2 hr. Of torture and the cause of my jaw clicking problem. BEWARE

Fantastic experience: First time here and Dr.Urda was great. I did a few x-rays and then she sent me over to a dentist down the street to get my procedure done. She knew exactly what tooth was causing my CHRONIC pain. I was able to get a same day appointment at 9am, and was done with everything before 12:00 pm.

Fantastic experience: As someone who always hated going to the dentist; Dr. Urda and Dr. Ro are excellent, along with all their hygienists and support staff. I actually *enjoy* going to the dentist now. They are super patient and always ensure I’m completely numb, doing whatever it takes to make sure my gums are ready before the numbing injections to minimize pain. No one shames you for neglecting your dental care, only gentle reminders and explanations. Great appointment availability as well; I recently had a painful toothache pop up on a Saturday night and they had me in on Monday. Turns out the toothache was directly the result of something they warned me about and referred me to an oral surgeon for. I neglected to make that appointment for close to a year, and none of the staff gave me the slightest bit of a guilt trip or hard time about it. They just wanted to see me feeling better! Being able to text the front desk with schedule questions is huge for me as well. They’re also proactive about reaching out if they have earlier appointments- much appreciated when I was in pain! The front desk is so friendly and welcoming as well. Overall I can’t think of a way to have a better dental experience!

Fantastic experience: Such a professional Team, with the most up to date practices. Dental work is already intimidating, but this “tooth spa” takes the anxiety away from going to the dentist. They are honest, accommodating, and empathetic. Can’t recommend enough!

Positive experience: Had a solid experience at Smile Science Chicago. The staff was friendly and made me feel comfortable. I went in for a routine cleaning and a couple fillings, and the whole process was smooth. The office is modern and clean, with TVs on the ceiling to keep you entertained during procedures. I spent around $300, and it was worth every penny. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the wait time was a bit longer than I expected, but overall, great place. Will definitely be back for my next appointment.

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful dental office. The staff are extremely friendly and communicative, hygienists are lovely, and Dr. Urda is a total boss. Check-ups are a pleasure with TV's in every room, comfortable chairs, and skilled staff. Yesterday I watched a gecko eat an entire colony of ants while I had my teeth cleaned. Is this real life? Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Monica Urda and her entire team are so very personable and accommodating. They make a dental visit, which can be scary, painful, and intimidating so very stress free. During my visit they took the time to explain what was going on with my teeth and why I needed a crown treatment and what I could do to better my oral health. You can tell she aims to create an office that is educational, community-serving, and kind.

Fantastic experience: Nice clean place with friendly staff. Dr. Urda is a great dentist. My only issue is there is limited street parking - My comments from 2020. I gave 4 stars. This is an update in 2024. Dr. Urda changed locations and raised prices. Additionally, she has hired new staff, who have given me poor care. I still like Dr. Urda, but they kept assigning me other practitioners who I didn't like. I just reduced my review from 4 to 3 stars. So March 2025: Well, Dr. Urda just reached out to me and will strictly be my dentist from now on. So I am appreciative and raised my review up to 5 stars.

The cleaning was comfortable and she took her time checking in with me and relaying to Dr. Ro specific areas she noted as concerns. Dr.Ro is great, personable and realistic with current or future concerns. Highly recommend !

Fantastic experience: Doctor Urda is the best dentist I have ever had. Friendly staff overall! They helped me reverse my gum disease and never made me feel bad about it. They are also super accommodating when schedule conflicts happen!

Positive experience: Dr. Monica has been great over the years and the staff in the office have been very friendly and helpful. Scheduling is very easy and the availability of early morning and evening appointments, in addition to Saturdays, is a real life saver for those with busy work schedules. This would be a 5 star review if the quality of their billing department matched the rest of the practice. There is no easy way to reach someone to discuss any billing/invoice matters as the sole provided number routes directly to a voicemail inbox. If they decide to actually call you back and you miss the call, get ready to leave another message. Rinse. Repeat. Honestly, this is not the worst shortcoming for a dentist to have, but it is just frustrating enough to consider moving to a new practice.

Fantastic experience: I will never stop recommending Smile Science. I used to be debilitatingly afraid to go to the dentist. I have been seeing the team here for a couple of years and am so happy to say I no longer fear my appointments! Fantastic experience: I’ve had a few dental providers in the last 5-10 years due to moving but I plan to stay with Smile Science Chicago as long as possible. The front-of-house staff, the assistants, and Dr. Urda are all great. Very friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable. They also use some impressive technology and methods I haven’t seen before to be as thorough as possible. Easily the best experiences I’ve had at a dentist.

Fantastic experience: Lovely experience. You're able to book online as well as complete all your forms online, cutting down the time you have to wait when you arrive. The office is very clean and beautiful. The front desk greeted me quickly and helped me check in, explaining everything nicely and I was seen 5 min early. The hygenist was so nice, got my x-rays done quickly and I usually hate getting x-rays because theyre uncomfortable. However they did them here was fast and did not make my mouth hurt! They were done and the dentist saw me quickly. She was so kind and explained everything so well, and made sure I was okay during my exam/cleaning. I do have some dental anxiety which they both helped by telling me what each step was and letting me know what to expect! I loved that. They also had the great british baking show on which calmed my nerves as well as the fun music they had playing. Overall a lovely dentist visit and I look forward to returning for my upcoming treatment. Thank you, Smile Science.

Negative experience: The worst. Dr Urda put deep scratches in my front top teeth while removing the buttons from invisalign. It’s been years and looks awful makes me sick. The whole office was a joke. Messed up literally everything. They even billed me wrong at first until I question things. Strange how this place got good reviews.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to smile science for a couple of years now and I can’t say enough good things about the whole team there. Their new location is amazing, everything is new and decorated 10/10. Alison took care of me yesterday. She was my dental hygienist and was so sweet so funny we talked about everything and anything, she made me feel really comfortable. Dr. Olivia and Dr. Monica are the best always; saying hi, asking how you are and making you feel like you’re an actual person, not just a number.

Fantastic experience: DR URDA IS A QUEEN!!!!! No notes. She rocks - have been going to Smile Science for a few years and have had the best experience. She's clearly a super talented dentist but is also very chill, nice, not judgmental. Today I ate a Swedish fish and it popped an old crown off (cursed) and I had an appointment within 1.5 hours and she glued it back in. Best practice in the world!!! Run don't walk!! Negative experience: I’ve been a client since 2022 in the old office and today was the first time I was disappointed with my experience here. I went in for a general cleaning and checkup and was in the office from 11:30-1:10 extremely slow service I think I watched close to 3 full episodes on Netflix. Seemed like a lot of new people the last few times I’ve been, which is fine it’s just not the same services and level I remember which is unfortunate because I used to highly highly recommend this office to my friends. Really bummed out after my experience today.

But everyone there was very comforting and made sure I got a plan to get me back on a healthy dental lab . I’m so glad I found them it’s costing me but I feel is worth every penny to know I’m getting the latest and best care .

Fantastic experience: They're everything I look for in a dentist. Glad I found the doctor. They could have theor I'm posting this after a year of working with this dentist in at the end I did not like the service. Long waiting time, inconsistency in billing and communication with a financial office and an inability to listen to what the customer wanted forced me to move. Seems as though they are building a new practice there and our only concern with jamming as much business into the day is possible.

Fantastic experience: Smile Science has been my dental provider since I moved to Chicago nine years ago. I've had an incredibly positive experience there for the following reasons: - First-class facility: I am no dental expert but it's clear they consistently invest in their offices to maximize patient comfort and quality of care. - Friendly and Approachable Staff and Practitioners: communication is a strength, and I have always had positive interactions with the front desk and hygienists. Dr. Urda is energetic and passionate about her work, and my experiences with other dentists have been positive as well. - Flexible Hours/Ease of Scheduling - Quality of Care/Trust: happily, the majority of my appointments here have only been for preventative care. While I've not been a terribly profitable patient for their practice, I feel their team strikes the right balance of effectively monitoring potential dental issues to be able to address proactively, but not being overly aggressive by recommending treatment that isn't really needed. Smile Science is a large, efficiently run practice. Some patients seeking a "smaller practice" feel may wish to express a preference to meet with the same individuals for their appointments to help the experience feel more personal. That said, I have always felt cared for regardless of which staff member is providing my care, and I appreciate the scheduling flexibility that having a larger staff on hand enables. Overall, I am glad to have chosen Smile Science as my neighborhood provider when I moved to Chicago and will continue to return there for my future dental needs.

Fantastic experience: I’ve known Dr. Urda personally for just over a decade and she’s been my dentist since she established Smile Science in 2016. Her dental work for me has included removing two of my wisdom teeth (a painless procedure that thankfully took less than 15 minutes), and fixing a chipped bottom tooth. I can say honestly that I’ve never met a harder working or more professional dentist and staff than Dr. Urda and her crew. They really know their stuff, they care, and they follow through. As a friend, I’m not surprised in the least that she and Smile Science have the impressively high Google rating they do. And as a patient, I’m proud to be under the care of the best dentist in Wicker Park (if not Chicago, in my opinion). Thanks as always to Dr. Urda and the Smile Science team!!

Fantastic experience: Phenomenal service. Since I was a kid, I have ALWAYS hated the dentist. I feel like I always leave feeling worse than I did before, or always have crippling anxiety sitting in that chair. I don't have terrible teeth, but they've always been extremely sensitive. The hygienists were incredible, and always told me what was happening, and what was going on with me teeth, showed me visual results, and gave feedback about my gums and teeth. Fantastic experience: Dr Urda is so wonderful! When I apologized for keeping her late on her birthday, she simply responded, “no! I love doing dentistry!”, and it really shows. From mindfully designing a beautiful and welcoming space, to carefully explaining each step of the treatment plan with patience , I felt cared for and never rushed. The front desk and treatment staff are incredible, as well, and were all so warm and patient. They all made 4 hours of emergency care bearable! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Very grateful for how amazing this place was. I called in one morning after an accident and they were able to fit me in that same morning. I was impressed by how kind everyone was and how seamless the process was for me. Caitlin was helpful with getting all of my new patient forms together and then going over billing after the doctors assessment. Dr. Ladley was SO gentle and great at explaining things as she went. Ultimately they fixed my teeth and I’m super pleased with the results. I highly recommend this place!!

Fantastic experience: One of the most informative and fun dentist visits I've ever had. I was greeted by two energetic, fun front desk associates that make you feel calm and relaxed. I was then taken back to the chair where they let you pick what show to watch and the X-rays were fast and painless. Mari was not only the most professional and knowledgeable dental hygienist I've ever had but she was a very funny and personable. The dentist came in and was fast in his assessment but I never felt rushed. He gave great attention to my teeth and needs. I've already recommended this office to multiple folks. Who knew going to the dentist could be fun?

Everyone at Smile science seemed glad to be there, and the service was prompt and professional and kind. They play whatever you’d like on the screens to chill you out. I strongly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful dental office. Dr. Monica is wonderful and all staff are super sweet. I was visiting in town and had a dental emergency and they were able to take me in right away. I didn’t need to wait at all and they explained my treatment to me super well. Now I am finally pain free! Would definitely recommend. I wish Google would let me give 10 starts.

I'm not kidding when I say I jump at the chance to recommend Dr. Urda as soon as someone mentions they need a dentist or are unhappy with their current one. I've only had one appointment with Dr. Ro, but he was great as well. It's clear that the entire Smile Science team enjoy their jobs and really care for their patients. Plus they have some dope wallpaper in the bathroom (pun intended).

Fantastic experience: The staff is very straightforward and helpful incase of emergencies! I went in because some cavities were rotting away my upper back teeth. They helped communicate with me the procedure and didn't beat around the bush! Now I'm going to be coming here as a regular! Fantastic experience: Everyone in this office was friendly and took the time to show and explain what they were doing. I’ve been avoiding dental care for a while and no one shamed me. I feel motivated to take care of my teeth now after their extensive analysis of what they see in my mouth, which they show you on the tv screen conveniently placed on the ceiling :). Positive experience: Have been going to this clinic for 3 years and love it. Love Dr. Monica! However didn’t love the doctor and attendant that cleaned my teeth this time around. Still in pain after 1 week of getting an anesthesia injection and cannot move my jaw.
