Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying: I hate going to the dentist. I'm a terrible patient with a lot of dental trauma. And that's exactly why I'm so grateful that I found Renken Dentistry on Crystal Falls. I sincerely look forward to seeing the awesome staff because they really get to know you and care about you. Special kudos to Bailey for her ability to always make you feel at ease. Nancy is the sweetest soul who somehow makes me look forward to my cleanings. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which comes with a bunch of dental complications. Dr. Hanson is an absolute gem. He's a great listener and always goes above and beyond to make me comfortable. I've never had a dentist as supportive, responsive, and encouraging. I'm never going to love going to the dentist, but I know I will always get fantastic care and support at Renken to make it as positive as possible.

The entire staff was so kind, patient, and gentle with my two kiddos — they made what could’ve been a stressful visit such a positive experience. Fantastic experience: I went to Casrle Dentist 5.5 years ago and never went back. They told me I needed to have an implant where I already had a root canal and crown done previously at another dentist . I never went back to any dentist until today and I chose Renken Dentistry of Crystal Falls. They are fantastic. I am so glad that I chose Renken The dentist said I do not need an implant at all. Castle Dental was wrong. Brenda was so gentle while cleaning my teeth. Everyone was amazing . I also wanna give Sonia a shoutout. She made me feel more at ease. The dentist was fabulous. Fantastic experience: Very kind staff & very caring …understood all my needs…..Nancy is such a great hygienist. She takes my needs into consideration…like letting me use a mouth guard to keep my mouth open since Inahve had a past mandible fracture.

Negative experience: This is the worst dentist experience of my life. It's extremely impersonal. They don't even have front office staff. My initial cleaning was in early July after having to wait 5 months. When I arrived, I was put in a chair in a room to wait 45 minutes. I was then told this was just the exam. The cleaning would be another hour for a 2 hour appointment. Even though they're want really any exam. The dentist saw me for about 2 minutes. I was late to work. They notified me I needed 8 teeth worked on even though I had been going regularly to a dentist. They did not offer any reasons why it helpful solutions. I had to ask for fluoride toothpaste. I came in for 3 crowns. It took 4 hours. I wasn't bombed correctly and it was intensive nerve pain the whole time. When I asked them to stop at one point, they would not. Eventually, they dismissed me with a temp crown over 2 teeth and one normal one. I found out later that is not best practice. It hurt me t constantly for 3 weeks. When I can back to try to get it adjusted, I asked Dr. Tran questions. While I should, he got up and left. When I came back for Mr permanent crowns, I was informed at that time that they didn't have an of them because they hadn't checked until that moment despite them telling me otherwise. 2 permanent ones were put in last week. This week, the final one was put in. When I rinsed my mouth last night, one of the ones from last week fell out. I nearly choked on it. That tooth has a very sensitive exposed nerve. They write that they offer emergency services, but they have no after hours number. I'm stuck trying to Google and can other doctors to fix this mess. Rude, inadequate, and impersonal best describe Dr. Tran and the Crystal Falls location.

Fantastic experience: I have had a previous bad experience with a dental office in town (LD). I was SO relieved to have such courteous and expert care! My teeth have never EVER been so clean! The dentist also informed me that I didn’t need two crowns that my old dentist said I did. Wow!!

Fantastic experience: Receptionist was very welcoming; signed me in and showed me to the waiting area. Nancy, was right on time and as usual showed me nothing but her wonderful personality and exceptional skill. Probably the best hygienist I’ve ever had.

Fantastic experience: From the minute I stepped in the door to the time I stepped out of the door, I had the most pleasant experience of going into a Dentist office. I met Bailey who was a wonderful, personable technician and hates sweets! Then I met my Dentist, Calvin Tran. He was a true professional and explained everything to me in a understandable way. He is very easy on the eyes. Just saying. At my age I could easily be his grandmother! Then I met my with why God had me choose this Dentistry over all others. Patty who was my dental hygienist! She is so wonderful at what she does. I didnt know she was doing anything to my teeth but when she was done and asked me to see if she missed anything, all I felt were smooth teeth. We found out we are the same age. Im older of course! We shared some personal things and bonded. She gave me something of hers and it brought me to tears and several hugs. I left that office with the best feeling thinking their are some good people left on this earth. They were all professionals at their jobs, but with a big amount of friendliness, compassion, and sharing of their lives. It was a great experience for me and I knew everything they did to me by their explaining to me and asking if I had any questions, with their gentle handling of me. They have very coole equipment! I knew I was there to get my teeth cleaned but also found some new friends that genuinely care.

Negative experience: On 2/27 I took my son to get his cavities filled. I paid the amount they told me and after checking was more than the agreed upon amount. They told me in office they would honor the original quote and I should hear from accounting within a week. Two weeks later we call to follow up and were told that they are short staffed and someone would contact us. Today we call again and spoke to Cindy. Who was very rude and unprofessional. Referred to my wife as stepmom in a rude tone and said it can take 60-90 days to issue a refund. She was pretending to be nice. But she has no business speaking to customers. This is unacceptable. Why is it you can overcharge me and take hundreds of dollars from me immediately but then I have to wait 2-3 months to get my money back? I own a business. My wife is an accountant. She can issue a customer a refund immediately aside from the 2-3 days the banks may delay to process. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB.

Negative experience: I was overcharged on my last appointment. I’ve called 4 times & cannot get this corrected. I suggest everyone to avoid this practice. There are better options. You will not get personalized service.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a crown replacement and the experience was great. The staff was friendly and professional, making me feel comfortable.

Negative experience: First thing - do yourself a favor and read multiple negative reviews. They have a pattern, and I wish I had paid closer attention. My first and only visit was in July 2024. The experience at the office was great, friendly hygienist and dentist, warm and inviting atmosphere. I confirmed they are in-network with my insurance prior to making an appointment. I went in for a standard cleaning, and since I was a new patient they did x-rays and a tooth cast (mold). Traditionally, a standard cleaning is $0 out of pocket on my insurance, even with x-rays. My husband had his appointment for the same service a few days later, on the same insurance. Six months went by and all of a sudden I get an email and text message saying I owe this office $902. I just about had a heart attack. I wasn’t expecting to owe anything, let alone six months later. I reviewed the bill and noted they were charging me for a sealant service I didn’t receive and didn’t agree to (they had only given me the estimate at my appointment). They also hadn’t run my claim or my husband’s claim through insurance. I called the office, explained this, and asked them to revise my bill. A day later, I receive another email with the same bill and a note saying that Delta Dental of OH has been terminated. First, I don’t have Delta Dental of OH, it’s IA. Second, they are supposed to be in network. This time, I call my insurance and have them confirm that all providers in this office are in-network to which they say yes. They even went so far as to confirm there was no pending termination of their status. I called the office back and asked them again to revise the bill. Over several weeks, they kept asking me to check back in a few days as they had someone working on my case. After all is said and done and almost a full year later, I’m still stuck with a bill, albeit it’s a lower amount now. They never informed me that my insurance may not cover the tooth cast (mold) that is part of the new patient exam. I found this out when speaking with my insurance later. I understand that I have a reasonable responsibility to confirm my insurance coverage, I’ll admit that mistake; however, no one suggested this to me and silently implied that this would be part of the covered standard cleaning exam, as are x-rays. I still don’t understand how it has taken this long to process such a simple claim.

Fantastic experience: Great dentists and staff! They are very honest and practical on what you need/don’t need. Dr. Hansen is great and helped me get a better smile without suggesting crown all your teeth or veneers!

Negative experience: As a patient for 7 years of Dr Renken and his office, it is extremely disappointing to see the quality of care decline substantially due to inexperienced, immature hygenists and doctors. They berated me for wanting to delay some x-rays until I was able to verify insurance, and then terminated my appointment when I expressed concern about being coerced into services I wasn't sure were covered. This all happened because of an immature, inexperienced hygenist who started an argument, couldn't explain how the x-rays were different from ones I'd already been having, and was unclear about insurance. Proper hiring and training could have avoided the whole situation. Do not recommend.

Dr. Tran is an ace, always on or actually ahead of what may be needed later with respect to good teeth management. You can't go wrong with Dr. Tran and his excellent hygienists.

Fantastic experience: I had to get to work by 9:30 AM. The kind and friendly hygienist, Nancy made sure to get me in and out quickly so I could make it to work on time.

Negative experience: I love going to the dentist but this was the worst experience. Walked in to a sign-in tablet on a counter. Then, followed a sign to a waiting room. Sit, wait. No staff to greet me. A dental hygienist walks in. Be with you soon. Another person comes and takes me down a long corridor of rooms and ushers me in. Asks if I’m having any problems. No, just here for a cleaning. We’ll take x-rays first. No. I’ve recently had many tests and been advised no more exposure to radiation. Back in a minute with another staff person. We won’t clean unless you have x-rays. No, I say again. That’s that. I leave. There is NO law that requires you to have X-rays. I was not experiencing any problems and have my teeth cleaned every 4-6 months. Had to change dentists for insurance. Impersonal, unprofessional, weird office set-up.

Positive experience: The dental assistant was very good, explained everything as she was doing it, and was extremely professional. Doctor H is great, and there is absolutely no issue with him what so ever, he is very understanding and compassionate. As visits to the dentist are not what people look forward to, this visit was favorable.

Negative experience: Personally, I believe this office has potential, but I didn’t have the opportunity to avail any services other than an exam. However, I detest being deceived into unnecessary procedures, especially without being informed about the billing. Moreover, the four-month wait for cleaning services is excessively long; you can schedule a dentist appointment within a week, but not even a cleaning within a month.

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience during my visit. I chose this place based on the reviews, but my experience didn’t match my expectations. The cost estimates provided did not align with my insurance coverage, leading to higher out-of-pocket expenses than anticipated. I recommend double-checking all estimates with your insurance provider beforehand. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I wouldn’t personally recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Edit: they contacted me and we worked it out. I recommend this dentist to everyone. Tbh service is great, people are great. However I was misled about the cost of a treatment and now they've been chasing me down for a laughably small bill for 6+ months. I get weekly emails and monthly calls and they've been unyielding in their pursuit of the bill which is barely large enough to buy chipotle with. I'm not going to pay it because we discussed the price at the time of service and I paid then. Please contact me to resolve this and I'll remove this review.

Positive experience: I struggled with getting a hygienist and then I got Brenda. She is awesome. What I miss ? I miss the little goodie bag with toothbrush, floss and small toothpaste that I used to get from my earlier dentistry. Else, Renken would have been a 5.

I'm at that stage of working out the sore spots with new dentures. Last Friday and today, Amelia worked patiently with me, being skillfully cautious, if too much gets removed, that's difficult to correct. Yet she pleasantly worked the tedious little bit at a time and still had me in and out and happy in short time! Great job Amelia!

Fantastic experience: It was my first time taking my son to the dentist (he’s 4) and I could not have asked for a better experience. The check in process was so easy and we waited in the waiting room for maybe 2 minutes. All the staff were friendly and smiling but I need to shout out Ms Miranda! She was exceptional with my son. She had the patience you hope someone can have with a scary experience for your little one and she was so kind. We did not feel rushed at any moment and my son felt so safe and did a great job through his cleaning because she explained it to him every step of the way. 1000% recommend these guys to anyone!
