Negative experience: The receptionist was very rude. I called because my son was referred here due to problems with his braces, and she told me they didn’t accept our insurance. So I was about to suggest an alternative option but she just hung up on me without saying anything. Very rude and unprofessional of that person.

Negative experience: The dentist and hygienists are highly professional BUT the front office staff is just the opposite. After insisting that I pay in advance for service, they charged me again at the end, doubling the charge. They said the computer wasn't updated at the beginning of the appointment. When I questioned the way it was done, I was told to pay in full or "it would be sent to collections."

Fantastic experience: Excellent start to, hopefully is, a long-term relationship. This was my initial visit to Dental One and it was a great experience. Ma Smalls greeted me when I arrived for my appointment and made me feel welcomed. I went back and Ms. Maria did my X-rays and we had a engaging conversation about me becoming a part of the Dental One "family." I finally got to meet Dr. Wilson and it was "just what the doctor ordered." He took the time to get to know my Dental history and allow me to explain what I was looking for in a Dental provider. At the end I met Shelia and she was able to review my Dental plan benefits and help me address my next steps. Dental One is a 1st Class 5-star operation. If this 1st impression is anything like normal, I looked forward to a long relationship.

Negative experience: Terrible experience! Hygienist was not there and I was not notified beforehand. I wasted my leave as I took a whole day off of work and then had to come back another day just to finish the cleaning. I wasted, time, money, gas etc and there was no communication. Additionally, a dentist was available that could have easily cleaned my teeth smh bad experience

Fantastic experience: The experience on this visit was much better than the previous visit, the hygienist was polite, introduced herself, took time on my mouth, answered questions, provided recommendations for dental cleaning as well, also, the staff working at the front desk were quite helpful to the clients and handling business. My last visit, ( front desk staff were loud and playful, very unprofessional ) I would love to have that same hygienist on my next visit, in the past two years, there’s been a large turnover, hope the good ones will remain for a while. Hope my next visit will be the same, I was satisfied this time.

Fantastic experience: This location was busier than the closed Oxon Hill office, but the office was easy to find with ample parking. Takia (Dental Asst.) was great with performing my x-rays and the Dental Hygienist did a good job cleaning my teeth. Great customer service. Note: It was a bit awkward paying for my x-rays and cleaning before the services were rendered.

Fantastic experience: I have had 2 visits to Dental One in the last month. The staff is very professional and Dr O and her hygienist give me great service. Dr O explained the entire process of what needed to be done and this includes deep cleaning, prep for a crown and replacing my old unusable partial. I am a senior and they are gentle with me and make sure I am comfortable. I am so glad that I discovered Dental One Steeplechase. Thank you Dental One Diane

Negative experience: The women who answer the phone at the front desk are so rude and nasty! I hate going here. I go cause its closer to my home but I'm not gonna go back. Learn some manners and decorum.

I was not supposed to be charged for my visit and they charged me and I ended up having to pay back my own HSA company and Dental One was supposed to mail me a check back a month ago and they don’t call you back to update you or nothing!! I have been dealing with this issue since 8/12/25. I called the office this morning and Shamir picked up and was supposed to put the manager on the phone but somebody else so called picked up. That person comes to the phone and asks how can she help me, I say my name and when I’m about to explain, she cuts me off and says hold on one second and never comes back to the phone. This office and their attitudes are TRASH!! I want my reimbursement, I don’t care if the amount was $2.00 that yall owe me, which it is more than that, PAY ME MY MONEY BACK!! I will be reaching out to BBB about this awful business!! Tried to be nice and now yall done played with me and my money too much!! I put the wrong name on my review for the “Manager”, so Tiffany the Manager calls my phone to correct me on that and her attitude is HORRIBLE!! I work in the medical field and I would NEVER treat my patients the way these people have treated me!! They can call you back ASAP when you put a bad review but can’t call back to fix a money issue. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Don’t patronize Dental One at Steeplechase!!!

Negative experience: Update 9/30: I reported this office for insurance fraud, they were placed under investigation by my insurance. All of a sudden the bill dropped tremendously. They were initially charging $1,737.18, when, legally, based on the contract they have with my insurance, they should only charge $519.09, to which my insurance paid the majority of it. I only had a co-pay of $55 left; they were trying to get me to pay $137. PLEASE be careful when visiting this office. They are so money hungry it's ridiculous. The only way they admitted to overcharging was when my insurance company informed them that if they didn't correct the bill, they would terminate the contract they had together. ---- Update 9/15: I received a bill stating I owed $137, which did not align with what was previously communicated. I called my insurance company again, and they confirmed that the amount I was being billed was incorrect and significantly higher than my actual patient responsibility. We coordinated a three-way call with the dental office to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the experience was chaotic and unprofessional. We were transferred three times, and it quickly became apparent that staff were not on the same page about billing or insurance procedures. During the final transfer, the staff member we spoke to offered no explanation for the charges and simply stated I “just owed it.” When my insurance representative attempted to walk her through the explanation and coverage, she became frustrated, raised her voice, and then hung up the call. If this is how they speak to professionals from an insurance company, I can only imagine how they handle everyday patients especially those without the knowledge or resources to challenge them. It’s deeply concerning and unethical. How many people have they overcharged and gotten away with it? This will not be the last time they hear from me. My insurance provider will continue communication, and I intend to escalate this matter further. If you utilize Tricare or United Concordia please avoid this place as much as possible. ----- Original Post: This place is nothing but money hungry and will try to charge you extra whenever they can. When you call to question charges, instead of helping, they argue with you and make it seem like it’s your problem. After looping in my insurance, they suddenly changed their tune, claiming “it was a misunderstanding” and that “the lady who called was not sure,” saying they would have to wait until insurance processed everything fully. When I first went, I waited two hours just to get X-rays done. Then I was told I’d need to come back for a cleaning and some surface fillings on old fillings. I went back for the cleaning, paid $132 that day, and the hygienist was actually kind and helpful. However, when I went over to get the fillings, I had never experienced such intense anxiety and pain at a dentist before. I was literally shaking from the fear and discomfort. A week later, I got a call saying I owed another $130 because “insurance doesn’t cover it.” I explained that my insurance does cover it — I’ve had the same insurance since I was 10 years old, and I know what’s included. That’s when their attitude turned ugly. I asked to schedule an in-person meeting to go over everything with my insurance (since I’m a visual learner), but they refused and insisted on a phone call. I set up the call, and the moment insurance got on the line, they magically “apologized” for the incorrect numbers and admitted that once insurance paid their portion, I should actually have a credit. But then, they changed their mind again, claiming I now owed $71 for “additional work” because my filling was supposedly “so deep, basically almost a root canal.” This was a complete contradiction to what the dentist personally told me during the visit — that it was just surface-level work. Save yourself the headache — there are plenty of dental offices that are honest, professional, and don’t treat their patients like walking dollar signs.

Negative experience: Very rude call center. Tried booking an appointment but crude clerk said the insurance wasn’t covered, very quick to hang up on me before I could get a further explanation. When I went on their official website, the insurance I asked about WAS in their covered list. Terrible communication and obviously didn’t want to do her job.

Negative experience: If I can give 0 stars I would. I paid for my braces in full and I was told ot would be done in 2 years and here we are.... 3 years later! The are unable to keep an orthodontist and due to me not seeing one for so long I have periodontal disease (beginning stage) I had to go and pay all over again at another dental clinic for my braces so my mouth wouldn't be messed up. I plan on filing a complaint with the dental board as well as suing because I now have to pay thousands at a periodontist. The only good thing about this place is Renee other than that they don't care about theor patients because I'd they did they wouldn't have people going 3 months or more without fixing brackets, etc or the teeth will start reverting back.

Negative experience: Caution! Caution! This office staff, including the Office Manager, Assistant Manager Renee S, will infer bogus and inconsistent information . Their less than professional demeanor and character, is a complete embarrassment to this longstanding corporation . This Dental One has policies in place, in which I believe concerning pricing, that is based upon the area and obviously discriminatory for a predominantly black community and county. For example, this Dental One will make you advanced pay for your appointment even with a zero balance, whereas other Dental One Practices do not. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend any new patients at this Dental One office. I quickly transferred to the Dental One Crosskeys. It is worth the drive . I was so blessed on the first visit. The staff is extremely professional and exemplary. Now of course, the response to review is going to be is: I am sorry or this is not the experience we want. Trust me: Schedule and receive care at your own risk.

Negative experience: Do not I repeat do not come here. Staff here is very unprofessional, and rude. The assistant manager Renee S, was very unprofessional, when trying to ask her a question pertaining to my visit she laughed and thought it was funny. I have been a patient at this location for 2 years and every visit it seems to be something wrong. Either with them charging more than what my dental insurance only requires me to pay or down to making up bogus past due fees. They are the worst Dental One, I would advise nobody even waste your time coming here to receive such treatment as what I’ve experienced.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Taira is simply the best. Explains everything so well and makes sure you’re comfortable throughout your whole process. Front desk and dental assistants were a pleasure to talk to. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a new dentist.

Negative experience: Had to write a review because there is no direct corporate number to contact. I’m writing to express serious concerns regarding the front desk staff at your location, as well as to acknowledge the exceptional care I’ve received from your clinical team. To be direct, the level of unprofessionalism displayed by some of your front office staff is unacceptable. On multiple occasions, I have encountered rude attitudes and been given incorrect information over the phone regarding medication something that should never be communicated without consulting a doctor or assistant. Renee, in particular, has been consistently dismissive and unprofessional no matter what patient you may encounter. I’ve witnessed her engage in inappropriate behavior such as picking her teeth while checking in patients, which is not only unsanitary but extremely unprofessional. Additionally, Tiffany, who I understand is the manager, often shouts across the office instead of handling matters privately and respectfully. This creates a chaotic and unpleasant atmosphere. Frankly, if my first experience with this office had been with the front desk staff, I would never have returned. Thankfully, my initial visits were with your clinical team and that’s the only reason I continue to come back. Dr. O and her assistant Ms. Kim were the first to treat me when I came in a year ago with severe dental anxiety and PTSD. They made me feel genuinely seen, heard, and cared for. Their patience and empathy were evident in every interaction. More recently, I was referred to Dr. A. Wilson and his assistant Daria for a procedure, and I cannot say enough good things about their professionalism and bedside manner. They were calm, supportive, and incredibly reassuring exactly what any patient should expect when facing a stressful procedure. Their teamwork is exemplary. I also want to recognize Ms. Tawanna and Ms. Sheila, who consistently carry themselves with kindness and professionalism. These women are assets to your practice and contribute significantly to a positive patient experience. Let me be clear the quality of care from your clinical team is the only reason I will continue to receive treatment at this location. However, the front desk experience needs immediate attention and improvement. I strongly urge management to evaluate the behavior, training, and professionalism of your front office staff and take corrective action as needed.

Negative experience: I didn’t even get to see the dentist for my appointment. I waited almost an hour past my appointment time before checking back in with the receptionist to see what was taking so long. When I was finally called back, I was told the receptionist didn’t tell the staff that I had arrived. I was also told I can only have x rays done today. I’ve never visited a dentist that you have to schedule another appointment after the X-rays for a basic cleaning. I don’t have the time for such a long wait only to be told I must schedule another appointment. Ultimately, I left without seeing the dentist because the place didn’t seem very clean, the long wait, and the staff I encountered wasn’t warm and inviting.

Negative experience: The customer service at this office is appalling. If you dare to inquire about a bill, they’ll accuse you of being disrespectful. My spouse was billed, and when we called our insurance company, they advised us to speak to the office because we shouldn’t have been billed. However, the office wouldn’t answer our questions about the bill. They wouldn’t even give their names or contact information to speak to someone above the front desk associate or the office manager. As a result, we filed a complaint with the board of medicine for their poor services and fraudulent activity. The office manager and the front desk person need to be fired immediately. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE FOR ANYTHING.

Positive experience: Experience was great with the hygienist who (Michelle) isn’t always there. Had slight issue with the office (billing). - If there was an issue with “your” system last time (payments weren’t being processed), I should have been informed. - If a service was rejected by insurance, I should have been informed. NOT - 6 months later I’m prepared to pay for today’s service (less than $100) & given a bill more than double of today’s service (over $400). I’ve been at this office since it opened & was a patient at the previous location (20+ years). I’ve always had good service & everyone has been professional. The new staff & increase in services performed at this location - I believe has caused some follow-up service to falloff. Just a little disappointed.

Doctor Okoro was very professional and made recommendations having my best interest in mind and not necessarily trying to make a sale, like I've had at other offices. Dr. John solid dude, seemingly thorough answered my questions and was pretty helpful. The cleaning was basic, possibly because I didn’t need a whole lot done, which im thankful for. Love the living single/Jamie Foxx re-runs playing in the lobby as well!

Negative experience: Very unprofessional I’ve been doing ortho with this company for 1 year and only been seen 3 times they went 7 months without seeing me I’ve paid for braces they gave me a 30 month plan now we 14 months and I’m not halfway where my progress should be I personally would t recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to have my teeth cleaned by the hygienist. The music is soothing and the ladies are always kind. I skipped a year of cleaning trying to find a dentist when I first moved to the area but now I’m back on track and Dental One’s treatment plan is doing just that. Great location and adequate parking. Negative experience: Horrible horrible horrible experience with the ortho. The Oxon Hill location closed so I was sent to Cap Heights and they still don’t have an ortho to see patients. I was supposed to have my braces removed MONTHS ago. I feel like my teeth are being held hostage at this point. I would not recommend this place to anyone and they also cancel appointments without notifying the patients. My treatment was paid in full and now I have to go somewhere else and pay $800 to get my braces removed!! Very dissatisfied.

Negative experience: Once Dr. Tong left the practice the service he went down. Since he has left the practice June 2024 I’ve seen two orthodontist. Now awaiting the start of the third orthodontist to start. The gaps in between visit for braces is totally unexpected and unacceptable. I emailed the head office I believe her name was Jennifer or Jessica. She replied and said would be in touch. I’ve never heard from anyone. They have to do better. I’ve never experienced like this from medical office before. I had to give at least one star to post. I wanted to give no stars.

Negative experience: This Dental office management has went down. 10-12 yrs of being a patient no problem until last year and now they can't keep an Orthodontist at the location I have braces can get regular care to maintain my braces. Worse experience Ever! My appointments are always canceled and it is unfair. Taking off work loss wages to be canceled. Something needs to change. Once my braces are off I will be finding a new dentist off.

Fantastic experience: First time there, I was, I was Nervous but Once I met the staff and Doctor and she explained the procedure that has to be done i was No longer. nervouso So my interaction with the staff and doctors, I have to give it a excellent.

Fantastic experience: As a new patient I didn’t know if I would be seen and took my chances. I was called over was asked the normal questions. And she mentioned let me ask if they can help you today or not. Came back took all information needed and then ask to sit in lobby for a bit. Shortly afterwards I was called in to take X-ray and a full evaluation. Once that was completed by a student which by the way was awesome. I informed on the following process would take place. And I would have to return and surprisingly enough they were available on the following Thursday morning to remove this painful wisdom tooth out.

Fantastic experience: Great service! Front Desk person acknowledged me and check me in. I was in and out in 45 minutes or less. I just had a check up. Highly recommend Dr. Wilson and his staff. My appointment was after 4pm which is right before closing. No one rushed me and his assistant answered all my questions. Going to the dentist is not in my happy list but going here I must say I have not had a bad experience. Go and see for yourself!

Fantastic experience: First time going to Capitol Heights office after the one in Oxon Hill closed and had a great experience. My hygienist Tira explained all she was doing and cleaned my teeth very well. No complaints. From check in to check out staff was very professional!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Taira was very personable as well as the amazing staff. Everyone was wonderful and made my visit enjoyable. All people there were very kind and helpful.

Positive experience: Receptionist should greet people as soon as they walk in and not have them wait until she finishes her conversation. Dental hygienist should keep their conversations private when talking about other clients. Dental hygienist did a great job listening to my concerns and cleaning my teeth. I'll be back.

Negative experience: On my visit to the first receptionist I wasn't happy with her she was more worry about the 386.00 to pay for my procedure than me giving or finding my secondary insurance one of your offices say you take the.insurance and this office dont I am not at all feeling sure I chose the right place to take care of my procedures.But I came back in after leaving without copies of my procedures and the next receptionist had a calming effect and did what she could do to help me get something done today .

Fantastic experience: This week was the first time I visited. Everyone from the front desk, the dental assistants, to the dentist were excellent and very pleasant, making me feel at ease! I am excited to have Dr. Chinyere Okoro as my new dentist. The dentist office uses the latest AI technology so they can design a dental care plan for each patient! Fantastic experience: Dr Wilson did an excellent job on an emergency visit. My front tooth broke and it has to be replaced with an implant. He looks perfect and I'm very pleased with other work he did for me recently. Also, the Assistants and staff are very nice and efficient.

Negative experience: Dental on associates is good for cleaning only. The Ortho treatment is beyond atrocious they can't keep a orthodontist to save their lives. If you only need cleaning. good anything else find a different dentist

Negative experience: Review for Dr. Okoro’s Dental Office If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down the most unprofessional and unpleasant dental visit I’ve ever experienced. To start, the waiting area was extremely dirty, dusty chairs, grimy floors, and an overall sense of neglect. I must say that the front desk clerk was very pleasant and got me a same day appointment as a walk-in. When Dr. Okoro finally entered the room, she didn’t even introduce herself. Her first words to me were a curt, “Why are you here?” I explained that I was new to the area and looking for a new dentist. Rather than welcoming me or conducting a proper consultation, she began scolding me about how I should have answered, as if I were her child. When I respectfully asked her to stop speaking to me in such a condescending tone, she stood up and began loudly reiterating our entire conversation to her staff as if to justify her behavior. It was uncomfortable, uncalled for, and deeply unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, not even my dog to get his teeth cleaned. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.
