Negative experience: Our entire family of 5 has been going to Oakwood/Jones Family Dentistry for about 20 years. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I got a text today requesting for a review. I had called ahead letting them know we no longer have corporate dental insurance. We were quoted $248 for cleaning, x-rays, digital scan and exam for each of our family member. We also needed to purchase their discount program for $189. I paid the $189 and then went back for x-rays. After the scans they let me know they would not do a regular cleaning because a deep cleaning was required, which was going to be a lot more than the $248. I felt scammed, and I did talk to Brittany letting her know. If this had been explained ahead of time that this was possible then I would have had no issues and waited until we had the money in our budget. We’ve never been told previously in all these 20’yeaea that deep cleanings were required or needed. I understand now why a deep cleaning may be needed but sharing it after and saying “too bad, it’s that or nothing” is unethical.

Fantastic experience: Rayln (hygienist), Dr. Scholes (dentist), and the reception staff were superb: knowledgeable, perceptive, efficient, thorough, and cordial. Their facility is clean and otherwise pleasing as well. This is an exceptional office in my view, an office worthy of patronage and acclaim.

Fantastic experience: I have gone to several appointments and have always been given great treatment from walking in and notifying them that I am here, through the appointment, and in paying and setting up the next appointment. I don’t feel like I am being pushed through, but have time to ask questions and discuss concerns throughout my visit. Each visit has been thorough and professional. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Doctor McCartin is absolutely incredible. Honestly the whole team is. Dr. McCartin always takes the time to handle every question or concern you might have, he’s phenomenal at his job and you can tell he truly cares about his patients. What more could you ask for

Negative experience: Came in to get an analysis on my mouth after years was told I needed a deep cleaning, Paid $1600 for a deep cleaning Go back three months later for a regular cleaning they told me it would be 125 ended up being 180, Also referred me to a Gum specialist to have more cleaning done. Why wouldn’t the first $1600 cover all of my cleaning if they knew I needed more???

Fantastic experience: I had a procedure 7/21/25 @ SEVG which was successful. An RX was ordered for 21 days. I had taken 5 pills by 7/23/25 when a reaction occurred. Consulted SEVG & was advised my experience was a side effect of the RX seldom experienced. The one thing I thought could be an issue was my dental. Contacted Oakwood 7/24/25, scheduled for an exam that afternoon; determined it was an infected tooth; extracted tooth immediately; a 7 day RX was ordered to clear the infection after extraction of the tooth. Oakwood staff were exceptional, knowledgeable & offered reasonable payment options. Both health organizations were professional & efficient.

Positive experience: Stop taking people’s blood pressure. You don’t know their medical history. A teeth cleaning or filling does not require it. Unless your charging the insurance for extra money.

Fantastic experience: I was eating dinner when suddenly there was a pebble in my mouth. A quarter of my crown had broken off, leaving sharp edges against my cheek! At 8 the next morning I called Oakwood Family Dental Care. They changed their schedule to fit me in at 9, even though I was a new patient. They were kind, attentive, careful, explained each step, and were done by 11:30. They were great! I've found my new dentist.

Fantastic experience: Oakwood Family Dentistry is among the nicest facilities I have ever walked into. State of the art equipment, as well as a clean and welcoming environment. Not to mention the dentist, dental hygienist, dental assistants, and staff in the front provide excellent customer service. This is without a doubt in my mind, the best dentistry around. If you need your teeth cleaned or are having any problems with your chompers, I highly recommend checking it out!

Positive experience: Never had a faster, more rushed dental cleaning. It was like the hygienist had to get out of the office in 30 minutes. I think it was fine for me: I am fairly easy and come 3x/year but it was obvious and therefore uncomfortable.

Customer service could be benchmarked at Oakwood IE: Elderly, wheel chaired woman was dropped off, 1/2 hr early for her appointment. One if the gals came out to offer positioning her chair, even to pick out a magazine. First name basis to all, "sincere" !! My mom, 91, doesn't hesitate to go to them. Except for her "stupid teeth" ☺️ Highly recommend..... ☺️

Fantastic experience: Oakwood Dental is great place tor your dental work. Everyone is very nice and my hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth. The dentist was great too. The office has newer technology for taking photos instead of using plaster for dental appliances. How great is that! No more plaster appliances at this office. High technology only! The office is a nice comfortable clean environment and waiting area.

Negative experience: I made an appointment for 9:00 am, was finally seen by the dentist at 10:15 am. A 75-minute wait?!? Is the front office is not good at scheduling? Could they not have told me to come in at 10:00 am instead?! So inconsiderate.

Fantastic experience: This is a new 5 star rating from me. Got some work done by a different provider in another town, came back to Chandler AZ for a few weeks when a tooth worked on by the other dentist began hurting badly. DR McCartin and the rest of the staff made the repairs easy and painless. Shout out to Hayz the dental she was incredible! The team at Oakwood Dental is friendly and profesional. They have the latest dental technology, made my perfectly fitted crown in 45 minutes! I recommend them to all my friends and family.

Fantastic experience: Staff is always very friendly. Hygienists always explain exactly what they are doing and make me feel at ease throughout my appointments. Front office staff is great and thorough in making sure what you are having done is covered by insurance and what you will have to pay out of pocket if any. The dentist I saw made me feel very confident in the plan for my teeth and really put me at ease.

Positive experience: Berkeley did a good job. Very courteous and attentive. Made sure I was comfortable and she is communicates very well.

Negative experience: This is the WORST dental office I've ever been to. The staff doesn't know anything. Every question I ask they either say "I don't know". I left 4 messages and NEVER got a call back. I had to return 2 times and have 2 different crowns fixed and redone. No one knows what they are doing at this office. DO NOT go to these doctors. They truly deserve negative stars.

Positive experience: It was ok. I thought the suction hose in my mouth did not work probably & junk was in my throat etc & I felt sick when I left. Hygienist very nice but inexperienced. Some confusion about my billing which was already emailed to me but it all worked out. I also feel the dentist acted a little rushed. Previous appts have been much better. Thanks

I was so happy with the professionalism and knowledge of them, that I’m look forward to seeing them again in three months. i’m just so appreciative that I finally found a reputable, professional, and caring associates at this Office. Also want to give a big shout out to Alicia for taking the time to show me on the computer at three different options I have on my next visit. Positive experience: I do like the fact that each time I go I have a different Higenist clean and exam my teeth. In the past you always had the same hygienist and it was reassuring that he/she got to know you and your situation. I believe we will now change to a different Dental Office

Positive experience: I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months so this time I was shocked to see that you raised your price for this service again. Not so long ago I was paying $91.00 for a simple cleaning. Now it's $125.00 That's quite a hike. I get it that prices have increased on everything but this % of an increase is way, way above the rate of inflation. While I just love Shelley for my cleanings it's probably time to start comparing prices that other dentists charge for this service.

Positive experience: Dental and back office care is phenomenal. I have reservations about the ever changing front office staff. My first appointment I was presented with a detailed bill for up coming services, with o balance due by me. I have good insurance. After all the work was completed and my new crown was seated. The from office staff said she was not sure if I would owe something. My insurance would need to pay by the end of the year or my amount would come out of my 2024 allottment. I said no, it goes by date of service , but she insisted it was when the money was received from my insurance. She recommended that I call them to make sure they paid by the end of the year. Well that was on Thursday the 28th of December. I stated there is no way by calling them they would cut a check and get it to the office in 24 hrs. So I will be watching them like a hawk. My husband loves the Dentist and back staff. The front staff have tried to over charge him every time.

Fantastic experience: They got me in right away when I was experiencing tooth pain. The entire staff was courteous and kind. The dentist was extraordinary and evaluated my pain thoroughly and came up with a perfect treatment plan.

Fantastic experience: I was there last week and when I tell you professional, that place was it. It's tough to tell my business to everybody but I haven't been to the dentist is years due to very bad experience, Brittany and the staff was freaking awesome. So kind, made me feel so comfortable, I will.never go to another dentist office other than this one. I highly recommend it here especially if you have anxiety, which I do lol. PLEASE GO SEE BRITTANY. Positive experience: Overall the experience is tolerable. I have used this dental office for seven years, and have only encountered two *horrible* hygienists, but that happens…not everyone is good at their job. I’ve had no issues with the dentists. They’ve all been great.

I sincerely appreciated the absence of any sort of judgement pertaining to my needs and the kind manner demonstrated throughout my visit. The doctor came in and quickly fixed something on my teeth that every other dentist has ignored for 15+ years. Fantastic experience: I was on vacation and experienced some tooth pain. They were able to provide me with relief until I could get back home and schedule with my dentist. I am so grateful for all their help! I am in no pain and am able to enjoy the last few days of vacation.

Fantastic experience: From the minute you walk in, the staff is very professional AND friendly. I hate the dentist so when my regular dentist was unavailable I had panic attacks about going. I finally made myself go. The team took the utmost care to let me know what was going on and were sensitive to my worries. Dr. McCartin was a welcome substitute for my regular. Fantastic experience: I was in excruciating pain and picked Oakwood off the internet in desperation because my dentist would not even answer the phone. This was the best dental experience I have ever had by far. I am kind of dental phobic and was hurting so bad... and they took me in within an hour. Everyone was as nice and pleasant as could be. They made certain I was comfortable and we're very accommodating. They were very helpful on follow-up calls as well. They even helped me with the finances! Now have a new dentist office! I am referring all my friends as well! Thank you so much, Dr. Scholes and your entire staff.

Negative experience: Overall the care was ok the issue I have is that it’s a conveyor belt where patient requests are dismissed. If you don’t want x-rays they refuse to serve you so me and my entire family left the practice. It’s a shame bc it’s a lose lose for both parties. Patient care is no longer a personal experience but rather a check list :(

Fantastic experience: No long waits which is great. Everyone is very friendly — from the receptionist to my dental hygienist then to my dentist for his final check. I have been going to a combination of this dental group since the late 1970’s when they were located in Tempe and have never thought about changing.
