Fantastic experience: Updated 11/2025: Dr. Yo and her team are consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely caring I walked in needing a bit of everything - root canal, deep cleaning, regular cleanings, fillings and Invisalign, every step of the way they made it comfortable and surprisingly easy Original 7/2024: I literally ended up giggling during a root canal.

Very friendly, on the phone and checked , to see if they had a opening to get Me in right away the one I called didnt but they found me a 3;00pm appt at the Shertz office , called me back at 1;30 and got me in early VERY Friendly staff and loved Dr R and all the staff, thanks for making My visit a calm and relaxing experience felt very at home and My tooth was saved, with a temp crown for now, Thanks again... Fantastic experience: Had a cleaning and found a cracked tooth and small cavity. The technology showed clear pictures of the problem. They fixed both of those (a crown and filling) that afternoon with very little pain (just the numbing shots) and did it very fast (less than an hour). Excellent experience all the way around.

Fantastic experience: I needed a small filling and the doctor was great as well as her assistant. Minimal discomfort and once completed and numbness wore off I didn’t need any further adjustments.

Negative experience: I've been coming here for several years now and never had any issues. I believe Dr. Garner Rudroff is relatively new as I just saw him for the first time a few months ago for a filling. The filling was done incorrectly and I had to go back in for him to fix it. I've never had to go back in to get a filling fixed. Red flag number 1. Shortly after I tried to get my 12 year old daughter seen and was told the office only see's patients 13 years old or older. She was just about to turn 13 so we waited. Finally got her seen and her x-rays showed possible cavities between the teeth. I'd mentioned to staff my daughter has anxiety when it comes to dental work. She has braces and does just fine although she is highly stressed. Dr. Rudroff advised he didn't want to do her fillings, because he is not comfortable with administering nitrous oxide to young teens, although we DID NOT even ask for nitrous oxide. I told him she would be fine without it although I found it strange he was intimidated by the idea of administering nitrous oxide which is a standard practice at ALL dentist offices. He refused to see or treat her again. I explained the importance of getting her treated as new patient appointments elsewhere are scheduled several months out (had tried other places before finally getting her scheduled at this location) and I did not want the cavities to worsen if we are forced to wait a long period of time before getting her seen somewhere else. Dr. Rudroff insisted he was not comfortable treating her and would not do her fillings. I got the impression he just didn't want to bother with her case and found it incredibly unprofessional for him to turn her away due to her age when the office offers treatment from 13 years and up. He said he would call his wife who works at a pediatric dentist office in New Braunfels to see if her office could get her seen ASAP. Never heard back from him of course. Found another dentist office for her and I will no longer be going here for my own treatment.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience and they always fully inform me on my dental options when it comes to getting work done. I appreciate the staff a lot and if any staff are rude to clients this location gets rid of them. Love them. Ask for Jennifer, she’s incredible.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience here. I got there a little earlier than my appointment and they were able to see me right away. The front desk was very kind and the dental assistant was so patient and thoughtful. Going to the dentist causes me some anxiety and this was nothing but a positive experience. I ended up having to be referred out for my extraction but they went above and beyond to find me somewhere I could get same day service. Will definitely be back for checkups and regular cleanings.

Negative experience: Every time I have been, or my children they try to sell me something that is not necessary. I feel pressured to purchase another service that is not necessary, but they say (PREVENTING) other issues. It makes me feel uncomfortable, and they are not friendly when I say no. And my insurance doesn’t cover it, so it would come out of my pocket.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with this dental clinic. Haven’t had to have any work done beyond regular cleanings thankfully, but for the few cleanings I’ve had, they’ve been efficient and run like clockwork, and I am in and out of there with cleaning done, x-rays done, seen the dentist for review, booked next appointment, checked out and everything in well under an hour, which I really appreciate! The dentist, staff and hygienists are lovely, too.

Fantastic experience: No one likes going to the dentist and I am no exception. But I can honestly say I found finally a place where I feel comfortable going for dental care. Everyone in the staff is great and the level of care provided is amazing. I am no longer stressed about going to the dentist thanks to the staff here.

Negative experience: I would give “0” stars. This location is unprofessional and based off several conversations with multiple people on staff, they don’t care. They have harassed me to confirm appointments for my family only to be called moments later that the Dr has to leave so they rescheduled. I had to reschedule an appt due to a sick kiddo for two months out. When I called that I would be 8 mins late… I was told that I need to reschedule. When I clarified that 8 mins was late, the lady spoke to me with major attitude and claimed I couldn’t be more than 10 mins late. I have sat and waited 30 mins for an appt so obviously the timely standard is only upheld on their end. The ladies at the front desk always seem to talk down to me. They treated me with disrespect and I gave Grace thinking it would get better. It never did and location convenience is not an option anymore. When I called to cancel all of my families future appointments (4) the receptionist said “ok I’ll get those cancelled” as if relieved. I hope this review helps at least one person escape the same mistreatment. But with a waitlist 3 months long, I’m sure this review doesn’t matter.

I am already apprehensive of dental offices, But at Schertz Dental they make you feel comfortable right away and the ensure you do not have a painful experience. I was very pleased with how the business side is ran and they are very efficient. Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. Awful experience, and I would not recommend. I had a dental emergency and was told I had to wait until the following day to be seen. They told me to go buy temporary cement, and put the crown back on myself.

I have been to a number of dentists in the Schertz and New Braunfels area, but none have been as dedicated to 'quality dental work' and patient relations. I have found my regular dentist and hope you find them as encouragingly relatable and professional as I did. Thank you Schertz Family Dental team!

Negative experience: I am giving 2 stars because the dentist herself was so amazing with my kids. However, the front office needs work. We recently moved here and picked Schertz Family Dental on recommendation from a friend. At our first visit at the end of January, I explained that I had signed the release forms at our previous dentist for them to be able to send my kids' x-rays so Schertz Family Dental could have them on file. I also offered to give them the contact info for our previous dentist for them to request those x-rays. One of the front office ladies explained that that wouldn't be necessary because, "When x-rays get emailed they aren't diagnostic quality." Fast forward to the end of the appointment, I'm checking out at the front desk for the cleaning that should've been covered by our insurance. The lady tells me I owe something like $60-$70. Not expecting this, I asked for an explanation. She said they used the x-ray machine that rotates all around the head to get a better view of my kids' teeth. The never asked me to do this, let alone explain that I would have an out-of-pocket cost. My insurance only covers this type of x-ray once every 2-3 years, according to Schertz Family Dental. I explained to the lady that I had offered to have all of their records, including x-rays, sent to Schertz Family Dental and was told that it wasn't necessary. She apologized and "waived" the cost for 1 of the x-rays, leaving me to pay half of what was stated. At that appointment, we received a referral for one of my kids to be seen by a pediatric dentist. So yesterday, at the request of the pediatric dentist, I called Schertz Family Dental to ask them to forward the x-rays to the pediatric dentist that they "refer patients to all the time." Amazingly, whoever I spoke to emailed me the x-rays so that I could have them and personally provide them to the pediatric dentist. So I guess emailed x-rays are fine after all? Be careful of shady business practices at this office. Not only am I frustrated because of not being made aware of treatments they decided to do without my knowledge or consent, I'm also frustrated that they did exactly the thing that they said wasn't necessary because it wasn't good enough.

Negative experience: We haven’t been to this dentist in almost a year. I took my child for her simi-annual cleaning. They told us that she had some gingivitis and wanted to do a laser treatment not covered by my insurance. I looked the procedure up on NIH and reached out to a couple of my friends who are dentists. NIH has good literature, and it’s definitely evidence based practice. However, after speaking with my dentist friends they assured me that unless her teeth were really bad, laser treatment was definitely not indicated. My daughter takes very good care of her teeth, and afterwards, when I looked at her gums, there was no inflammation at all. Further, my dentist friends assured me that a simple cleaning would easily resolve any gingivitis in a teenager that may or may not actually be there. I didn’t think I would have to worry about unnecessary add-ons from establishment like this, I was definitely wrong. Last remark, my daughter said that they were extremely rough during her cleaning, and she almost stopped the cleaning midway. I’m not a helicopter parent, so I didn’t go into the room with her, I will definitely not make that mistake again.
