Negative experience: I’m disappointed with my experience trying to reach Naperville Dental Specialists. I spent five days calling the office repeatedly and went to voicemail. I left multiple messages and even submitted an online request, but I never received any reply. It’s very frustrating when you’re trying to make an appointment or get information and there’s absolutely no response. Unfortunately, based on this experience alone, I can’t recommend this office for quality of service.

Fantastic experience: I had several scheduling conflicts with work, that made me have to reschedule my original appointment 4 times! Originally the “next available” appointment wasn’t for several months, however, I asked to be put on a cancellation list and texted back and forth with the admin until I could finally make something work with my work schedule. They were very helpful! I appreciated their flexibility, and communication. In the end, they were able to get me in a week after my original appointment.

Negative experience: Used to be a great place to go. Lately has gone way down hill. They are impossible to get ahold of and impossible to make appointments with I think they got to big and forgot where they came from. The cleaning I just got last week seemed like a half ass effort.

Fantastic experience: Always super professional and gentle. As a person who has spent most of her life terrified of dentists, I can honestly say I can walk in with confidence knowing I will be well taken care of. I am so grateful we found this practice - I true game changer for me and my whole family!

In this crazy world that we live in today it's a breath of fresh air to be in contact with a genuinely warm-hearted individual. Negative experience: The hygienist scraped my lip! Sge told me my tongue was in the way! Then I had to wait more than 10 min for the dentist to come when the cleaning was complete. She kept calling a dentist but they were all with “Other patients…” as if I wasn't one. I finally raised up and grabbed my phone. A dentist came 5 min later and I think she spent two minutes in my mouth. I’m not adding a pic of my lip but I took one and don't want to see that hygienist again!

Fantastic experience: Warm, friendly staff at every level! Doctor was also knowledgeable and relatable.

Positive experience: My only complaint is I was asked if I wanted the extra cancer screening done but I was not told that there would be a 60 Charge for it if I did receive it.

In addition everyone at Naperville Dental Specialists, from the front desk to the treatment rooms, is warm, welcoming, and genuinely personable. It’s clear they truly care about their patients. I couldn’t recommend Naperville Dental Specialists more highly!

Positive experience: The doctor wanted me to have a follow up appointment in 6 weeks, but the next available appointment was 4 months out. This over scheduling that y’all do just keeps getting worse every time. It’s out of hand. Maybe stop taking on new patients if you can’t provide care for the ones that have been with you over a decade

Fantastic experience: Paisley’s visit with Dr. Irene was very professional and went very smooth despite her being concerned about getting the shot for numbing. She liked Dr. Irene and her assistant and how they explained everything.

Negative experience: I had been going to Naperville Dental for about 2 years. Recently I have called to try to schedule dental appointments for myself and my kids. I am never able to talk to anyone as it always goes to voice mail. I have left at least 4 messages and I have yet to get a call back. And, I had been sent a bill that was sent in error. I am very dissappointed in Naperville Dental Specialists in trying to talk to someone and schedule appointments. Until recently I had been happy with the patient care and hadn't had problems making routine dental checkup appointments.

Negative experience: The hygienist was very courteous, professional and skilled. I could not say the same to the dentist who examined me. She came into the cubicle, talked directly to the hygienist, looked at some X-rays, then, grabbed a dental tool and poked at my gums without telling me what she’s going to do and what to expect. I retracted my head in pain as she aggressively maneuvered that sharp tool and told me that I need to have my crowns replaced. She threw me a slew of referrals that I need to do to have it taken cared of. I also have an issue with their billing process/procedure. Since March of this year, I had a series of dental services done for myself and 2 dependents. I had been cross checking my copays vis-à-vis the Explanation of benefits provided me by Delta Dental. So far, based on this, I overpaid them $189. I tried to call the account manager to discuss this matter but was unable to for the past months. I called and left messages for 2 straight weeks in July and early part of August but have not gotten any response. I personally followed it up again when I had my perio maintenance visit last 9/17/25 but unfortunately, the receptionist said she was on break for one hour. Together with my hygienist (who even wrote a sticky note as reminder for her), both of them promised that they will tell her to contact me about this matter immediately. The day passed. No call. Thursday 9/18 and Friday 9/19 came and passed, again no call. And by the way, when I was there sometime in May, this same account manager promised a full audit of my account because of my questions regarding bills that would suddenly come out and when asked what those are for, she could not explain them factually and convincingly.

Fantastic experience: Dr. John Char is very kind and made sure I understood everything about my surgery. The staff at the clinic were also wonderful—friendly, helpful, and attentive. I especially appreciate the lady who kindly went back to the room to grab my purse and return it to me. Thank you all for making my experience so much easier.

Negative experience: During a deep cleaning in March 2024, one of my molars fractured. In September 2024, Dr. LaVacca placed a temporary crown on it. He recommended removing the tooth and replacing it with an implant because he wasn’t sure how far the fracture extended. I told him I did not want the tooth removed and reminded him that he had promised to provide a crown for free. At my request, he agreed and scheduled an appointment for the crown. Before moving forward, I wanted a second opinion. I visited Dr. K, an out-of-town dentist, who confirmed that placing a crown would be fine for the molar. I explained to Dr. K that since Dr. LaVacca had agreed to do the crown for free, I would return to him, but I valued his professional opinion. On November 5th, I went back to Dr. LaVacca’s office for the crown. He completed the procedure. However, within two days, the crown became loose, and I could no longer use the tooth. I went back to Dr. K. who told me that before the crown the root was fine, but afterward, the fracture had worsened. He showed me an X-ray confirming that the root was now damaged, leaving me no choice but to have the tooth removed. I cannot say for sure if the crown caused the fracture to worsen, but because of this experience, I decided not to return to Dr. LaVacca’s office. If you are considering this place, I really want to share my advice: don’t simply follow what one doctor recommends. For example, if they suggest an implant, take time to think it over and strongly consider getting a second opinion.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ibrahim and her team were top notch! I was really nervous about my new crown and her team talked me through it. They were so patient and kind.

Fantastic experience: Helena my hygienist is great! She really takes her time and explains everything to you! She is very knowledgeable and cares about her patients.

Negative experience: AVOID THIS PRACTICE!!!!! I went in for a cracked crown. This practice installed a temporary filling and sent me to another practice for a root cancel. I had another dentist give me a second opinion and had toe second dentist make and insert a new crown. Naperville Dental Specialists charged my insurance for a new crown and the prep and replacement of my cracked crown when all they did was provide a temporary filling When confronted by my insurance the refused to return the money leaving me to pay the dentist who actually performed the work. This is a direct violation of numerous Illinois and federal medical billing laws. Needless to say I will be pursuing criminal and civil penalties against them. If the same fraud was purported on you by this practice please respond to this review and I will assist you and getting the justice you deserve.

Positive experience: First time patient. Office was big and clean and organized. Hygienist was wonderful. She explained everything that she’d was doing and made me feel comfortable during my cleaning. The Dentist was also equally as nice and gave me options for further treatment.

Negative experience: The dentist Dr. Chae, was great, but the staff is terrible. They sent in a pretx estimate and the insurance wants additional information. I have called and texted multiple times to find out what they can do to finalize the estimate. For 2 MONTHS and NO response. They will not call me back. I would never recommend this dental office.

Negative experience: I have dental implants, that I continuously have issues with. Getting a call back for a repair is so hard. However: if you are a new patient, Dr. Lavaca, will be spot on to sell you what he'll call a permanent $60,000.00 set of implants. but after all is done, this is not what you get, they could care less if they actually function and stay implanted in my mouth. This was sold to me as a permanent dental fix. but it is nowhere close, I have spent toooooo much time with these implants not attached, this morning once again the lower implant is in my hand not attached to my lower jaw. Starting to feel like this implant is nothing but an extremely overpriced denture, what a scam. Please I encourage you to reconsider this option of dental work, just get dentures, you'll end up feeling like that's what you ended up with anyway. 100% disappointed with my implants/ oh! sorry they are now dentures. I should correct that!!!!

I’m so grateful to the entire team and such a wonderful business in our community! 6/26/25 Just had two older former fillings from my youth replaced by Dr. Spencer. Dr. Spencer is an off the charts, absolutely amazing, caring, professional, detail, oriented, and off the charts pleasant Doctor who did the most amazing job. She is humble and kind, an amazing communicator, and is a joyful ray of sunshine. She is a beautiful soul inside and out, and I would recommend anyone to get their dental work done by Dr. Spencer. She knows what it’s like to be a patient and her former experiences as a dental patient elsewhere in the past helped inform her refined care and regimen for her patients that she cares the world about. Five stars! Dr. Spencer‘s hygienist was equally caring andamazing and was right on point assisting Dr. Spencer every step of the way.

Positive experience: This used to be the best dentist in Naperville. Unfortunately, the current hours just aren’t convenient anymore—especially for working adults and families with school-aged kids.

Negative experience: Naperville Dental Specialists had been recommended to me by several friends over the past 2 years. I finally got it together enough to make an appointment and go in. I was taken within 5 minutes of my appointed time. I spent some two hours in the chair receiving an array of diagnostics that I had never experienced in my very frequent previous trips to multiple dentists. In fact, the tools used were more advanced than any I have seen before. All of the results were immediately entered into their computer system. Despite being surrounded by the latest in dental technology, the people who operated it were extremely personable and open to explaining what they were doing. When my diagnostics were completed and the course of treatment was determined, I was sat down with one of their office staff who discussed the costs of the treatment and nature of my insurance coverage therefor. The lady I dealt with was very patient and precise in her explanations of what I was to expect. All in all, it could easily be described as the most impressive dental outing I have ever experienced.

Fantastic experience: I spent 40+ years in HR. I met and worked with many professionals who were very competent and many who had a very high level of interpersonal skills but relatively few with both. Dr. Irene- you're in that elite group with both. That said- whole experience as a first-time patient top notch- I don't think anyone missed much! A special thanks to Nancy for probably letting me ramble on with past dental and family stories too much and a shout-out to the receptionists for steering me to the right offices. All in all- 5 stars!

She informed me of how the recommendations would improve my dental care and of next steps for upcoming visit. Dentist Nicolette Spencer was very pleasant and helped me think out a future routine and listened intently to my concerns and suggested resolutions to my issues. The front desk explained the estimate of future visits. The place was very clean and esthetically pleasing. I am happy I found this office.

Negative experience: If I could I would give them 0 stars. I’m honestly not even sure if I’m in a situation where you should sue. If you want to go to a practice where they don’t pick up the phone, they make false promises while NOT listening to patients WHATSOEVER, come here. My doc did an implant- it failed. Then I learn he has a rotator cuff issue - did that contribute to the failure? Anyway I decide to give grace. He says he’ll try to set me up with a temp since I’ll have to wait for him to recover from his surgery before I can be taken care of. He makes a big deal out of texting the scheduler to get me set up and says to follow up the next day. I come and guess what, the scheduler knows nothing (she says “what message, I didn’t get anything” only to later realize he messaged her on teams) but promises they’ll figure it out on the back end. No one picks up the phone for WEEKS. Then I come in for a consult and the scheduler says the dentist will call me Monday. Surprise surprise, he forgets and she admits that when I show up in person on Wednesday. I let her know I’m disappointed and 10 min later, the Dr says come back in a hr so he can do it. I cancel my plans and come back only to wait 20min and then have him tell me he can’t do it in time. Why call me back? Why waste more of my time? Is it my fault that he has surgery. I paid him for services and he promised to help with a temporary tooth before the event. Is it my fault for not being ok with being ignored and falling through the cracks. I’m so sad that I’m stuck here. I have already invested so much that I can’t go anywhere else. This is how they get you.

Negative experience: DON'T GO TO THIS DENTIST!! BUYER BEWARE!! they don't care about u, they only care about $$$. Probably y the office is so nice, that's what ur paying for. I went here to get a second opinion and was given a treatment plan costing over 20k!! ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!! I only needed 2 crowns and a couple of fillings but they tried to convince me I need a total overhaul!! And i have very good insurance and they wanted every penny and even wanted me to pay for all treatment UP FRONT REGUARDLESS OF INSURANCE!! THIS IS PERFECT EXAMPLE OF FRAUD AND GREED!! I will no doubt be reporting this office to every regulatory agency in Illinois!! BUYER BEWARE

Negative experience: The staff was fabulous but they didn’t check my records before scheduling my appointment. They were Able to do X-rays but they couldn’t do any cleaning because I require nitrogen. So I have to wait until April 1 to get my teeth cleaned

Fantastic experience: Embarrassingly enough, I haven’t been to the dentist in 15 years and had some anxiety about going. Mary was my assigned dentist and she made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. She was very knowledgeable and informative in a good way. When she wanted to do something that would cost extra she would share the price with me before moving forward to avoid any surprises. Mary is truly an asset to Naperville Dental Specialists and I highly recommend going to see her.

Fantastic experience: I always feel comfortable and well taken care of at NDS. My hygienist Becky is friendly, thorough, and efficient. Dr. Irene is very good at what she does and I love that I'm never pushed to do questionably "necessary" procedures. I trust her to lead me in the right direction in terms of my oral health.

Negative experience: Staff is nice and friendly. However I am a tmj sufferer. I occasionally have flares. I just treat it with a cheap pain med PRN. I cannot afford the other stuff they tried recommending. I was denied treatment and I suffered another attack a few weeks later were my jaw was locked up and could not eat or chew and severe pain. This is not ok to leave patients like this please respect and understand not every patient can afford crazy expensive experimental stuff over a simple 5 dollar fill at the pharmacy that lasts half the year. Not acceptable.

Fantastic experience: Dr. John gave me a no-nonsense estimate (unlike another dentist for whom I will also be leaving a review). The procedure was quick and painless and it was clear he had performed it several times. There were zero surprises throughout the process.

Negative experience: Used to be a good practice, but lately getting an appointment is a pain and they have become so unresponsive. 3 messages (in 3 weeks) and a text and no response from their end.

She presented a realistic treatment plan and when it came to getting the work done it was a seamless experience. Sylvia was really great and they are a Rockstar team.

Fantastic experience: Dental hygienist Nour was great! Very attentive to patient comfort. Cleaning and x-rays trouble free. Dr. Irene Jovicic did amazing job with fillings etc (you can’t even tell I had a chip in my front tooth). I originally came here several years ago to see Dr. LaVacca for a bridge, onlay, crowns, and dental implant and I’ve been coming here ever since! Even had my teeth straightened by Dr. Ibrahim! WHAT A DIFFERENCE ~ now I smile a lot with a new sense of confidence ❤️

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with my annual checkup, xrays and dental cleaning and would highly recommend! I could complete all paperwork online ahead, zero wait time, Marla my dental hygienist did a great job ( no pain or discomfort).

Negative experience: So I go in for my 6 month cleaning and while I'm waiting the , I guess the office manager asks me into this room with all glass windows. She said did anyone go over your treatment plan? I said well I'm here for a cleaning isn't that covered under insurance? She sorta looked at me, it was hard because she's cross eyed. So, I'm trying not to stare. She says, it's been hard since covid and we've had to raise our prices. So, you'll be covering most of your cleaning. I'm seriously shocked how that's my problem. I have bills too. She explained insurances haven't given anyone the difference to cover our cost increase. So, now that's your problem. Or go somewhere else. I said, is this a joke? She said, look at my face do I look like I'm joking? I was honest and said , yes because your eye's are crossed and I can't take you seriously. She said, I hope you teeth fall out and canceled my appointment. This is extremely disturbing for a practice to treat patients like this. I'll never return after this sorta treatment. You should seriously look at getting a new office manager. I do not think she is a people person.

Fantastic experience: Nour, my dental hygienist, was absolutely fantastic! She was so patient while we waited for my records to be transferred from another dentist. I really appreciated how gentle she was while cleaning my teeth and explaining everything to me.Thank you!

Fantastic experience: - Phenomenal Staff - Phenomenal Service - Phenomenal Ambiance - Phenomenal EVERYTHING!! My GOTO Dentist for life.. Don't sell yourself short and burn your time somewhere else and stop by and see what they have to offer! Let's just say they can meet and exceed ALL of your needs!!! They don't disappoint!

Negative experience: This dental group has gotten so large. They over charge customers for their treatments. And employees at front desk do not make the cut. They are very rude. My family have been coming here for years. They totally only care about making a big profit. Doctors that started this dental outfit are not even here taking care of customers. They actually bring dentist from South America to make their profits even larger! Not what used to be. For those customers that have been here, I advise them to check their insurance to see what you are responsible for, then you can see how much you have been overcharged out of pocket. They will not call/cut/send a check for the overcharge.

Negative experience: Despite good collaborations for other family members, when I went, as a new patient, for an evaluation and a regular cleaning, my experience was extremely disappointing. I felt bullied into a procedure that I had done before with limited benefit. The doctor was not interested in my dental history, nor in explaining why I should try again the same procedure. So, yes, the clinic is modern, but the bedside manners, of one doctor at least, not so much.

Fantastic experience: I had a crown with Dr I. It was a good experience. I didn’t have any problems, any pain. I appreciate the professionalism and the way they communicate through the process. I would highly recommend this practice and this DR.

Fantastic experience: Beyond happy with my experience! Dr. Spencer quickly diagnosed the pain in my tooth as stress related clenching. I have been overly stressed and had no idea I was clenching. She identified, from the x-rays alone, that I have been clenching. I am ecstatic to learn that my tooth is without decay and that I just need to manage my stress level. I truly thought I would have to have this tooth extracted, or, at the least a root canal and crown. Thank you Dr. Spencer!!

Fantastic experience: My visit went very well today. Rita, the person who cleaned my teeth, was so much fun to talk to and always checked to see if I was ok. Amazing person!

Negative experience: As a new patient, two major problems. 1. In the middle of my cleaning they shove a cleaning/treatment plan in my face with all kinds of "added" services. Is that really the right time to allow someone to agree or disagree on those proposed services? (it's not) 2. My 2nd appt was supposed to be within 10 days of the 1st treatment plan, I ended up getting scheduled a month later, really!? No one is overseeing this particular when there's a specific treatment plan in place? (there's not). -To the future patients, know this!- Money is to be made in the Cosmetic space of dental, not just the "bill the insurance" so they'll throw at you all kinds of "options" that your insurance doesn't cover. Beware, go slow & allow yourself the time to understand those costs. Preferably those decisions won't be made in the middle of your treatment.

Fantastic experience: I was simply amazed. Everyone I encountered was so pleasant and welcoming. The hygienist Becky was very gentle with me and I appreciate that being that I’m always a bit nervous when I visit a dentist. I am very pleased with my dentist she made me feel at ease upon meeting her.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been with Dr La Vacca for 30 years, and followed him from Chicago to Naperville. Wouldn’t trust any one else with my teeth and all its issues. His assistant Davina is a sweetheart❤️

Negative experience: I was scheduled for a 5 minute appointment at 11:30 and didn’t get seen until 12:10. The office texts countless times for an appointment reminder, shouldn’t we be given the same consideration? I also don’t feel my issue was addressed. However, the 11:30 appointment stemmed from my 8 am appointment for a six month check up and I truly enjoyed the dental hygienist. She was thorough and very attentive. One of the best experiences I’ve had there in years!

Fantastic experience: Dr. LaVacca and his staff are truly amazing. I went and saw Dr. Ibrahim his wife for my orthodontic work. What a great team they are. I got my implants today and I’m so so so happy they came out beautiful. I couldn’t be happier I recommend their office for any dental work, orthodontist work and cosmetic work. Thank you both so much for making my smile beautiful again

Fantastic experience: Wow, where do I even begin. It’s been so long since I smiled I’d almost forgot what it felt like. Combatting vitamin deficiencies and rotting front teeth at 38, I never imagined would be my reality. In just one visit Dr. Spencer has changed my life in a way I can’t even articulate. I was provided with an effective yet cost conscious course of treatment that leaves me with a SMILE after years of not. She treated my front three teeth and I can’t stop looking in the mirror. She and her staff were courteous and kind. They communicated with me every step of the way and you can tell they care about the quality of their work. I cannot thank you enough! I can’t wait to finish all of the treatment but wow. What an amazing experience I’ve had thus far.

Fantastic experience: Not a review for this dentist but, I have had an "Eye tooth" fall out of my denture up top. Just took some crazy glue and placed it back in. So far, I can still eat everything. It came out eating a piece of beef jerky. Another set, they broke eating a piece of steak ! Take care of your teeth. I was a boxer and my teeth were loose so I said "Forget about it", Just get them all pulled. Much easier to manage !

Positive experience: The hygienist I had today did a good job cleaning my teeth but she seemed like a rather mousy person and was way too quiet. Sometimes I didn’t know if she was taking to me or talking to herself. She was just too quiet.

Fantastic experience: Nancy was great with her treatment/cleaning. She explained everything thoroughly. NDS has been taking care of my teeth for many years. I appreciate all they do for me. Doctor Lavacca is the best.

Fantastic experience: An incredibly thorough, careful, and pleasant exam from Hygienist Nancy and Dr. Jenny. All explained and was asked if I wanted to see the X-rays and areas of concern. Will definitely be back for my 6 month cleaning!

Negative experience: I went here because it was close and had an ok first visit. My husband also went here for his cleaning and liked the provider. It is really hard to make an appointment to be honest as a lot of the time the call goes to voice mail. This is frustrating and I wish that I took this as my first warning but the convenience of the location lead me to make another appointment . I have a crown and had a root canal at a practice in Wisconsin. I needed a permanent filling. The dentist I saw didn’t even recognize it as a permanent filling and said that it was filled. I said to please look at my records . I am not sure if he had and he continued to drill through my crown and while he did fill it , that area of my mouth hurts now when it hadn’t before and there was dental filling stuck between my teeth and I am worried now it hurt my crowns as it is impossible to floss between two of them. Overall the work felt rushed . I felt anxious as well during the procedure and no one really explained what was going on. I am very disappointed and will not be returning.
