Fantastic experience: October28.2025 UPDATE I was seen for a cavity filling procedure ave prep for a broken bridge by Dr. Tapangan and assistant Melisa. Dr. Tapangan made sure I felt safe and zero pain tolerance all throughout the session. I’m so blessed to have Dr. Tapangan care for me. Melissa was a previous front receptionist and now has grown to a dental assistant and very proud of her. ****************************** May16.2025 UPDATE today I was seen by a new dentist partner Dr. Ruiz who replaced Dr. Duque when she retired. I also had a new hygienist for today since Sydney nor Ms. Hahn were available. So I met this very young and sweet hygienist Myra. Today’s visit I felt I’m in very good hands. I truly felt respected and cared for by Myra and Dr. Ruiz. ******************* As always Dr. Duque has been very kind and attentive to me for the past 5 years. I’ve been through different dental assistants through the years due to the transition of Dr. Duque to work only on Fridays. So far all dental assistants have been fairly well and professional. The front office team also seem to have underwent a turnover this year and I’ve been missing the old timers who truly have given me importance all the time.

Fantastic experience: I have never experienced a visit to the dentist like this. Sonterra Dental really goes out of their way to ensure you are comfortable during your appointment and explains, in great detail, what they are going to do for you. The office itself doesn't feel like a dental office, either. From the waiting room to dental chairs to the equipment... everything is new and comfortable. They have state-of-the-art stuff and I saw my teeth in a way I never have - the coolest was the 3D image of my jaw. Yeah... 3D. Everyone was so friendly and speaking with the staff was like talking to old friends. Allison was my hygienist and she was literally a wealth of knowledge. She was also extremely upbeat and so friendly. She answered all of my questions and explained everything to me so there was no room for misinterpretation. When it came time for the cleaning, I was blown away. I can't remember ever coming out of an appointment and thinking "i didnt feel a damned thing" until today. Allison was very gentle and explained what she was doing throughout the entire cleaning. Dr. T was my dentist and although she was only in there to do the exam, she was delightful and also very friendly. Instead of pushing to get me back in the chair for future (expensive) dental work, I really got the feeling that Dr. T and Allison were mostly concerned with preserving what's in my mouth. Even Audrey, the lady who rung me up after the appt., was pleasant and happy to know my appointment went so well. Overall, I was blown away. Best dental experience ever. I won't go anywhere else ever again. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to Sonterra Dental, and I could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment I sat in the chair, Casey made me feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for- not just as a patient, but as a person. I came in after more than a year without a cleaning, feeling nervous and embarrassed, yet she never once made me feel judged. Instead, she talked to me with warmth and kindness, easing every bit of anxiety I had. What really stood out was how present she was. She didn’t just go through the motions of a routine cleaning- she got to know me. She asked thoughtful questions, remembered little details, and made real conversation that flowed so naturally I almost forgot I was at the dentist. When she asked my favorite color just to match my toothbrush, that small gesture said everything: she pays attention, and she cares about the person in her chair. The cleaning itself was incredible!!! She explained each step in a calm, friendly way, constantly checked in on my comfort, and worked with a gentle touch that still delivered amazing results. I walked out shocked at how clean and bright my teeth looked. I am definitely a huge coffee drinker, so was incredibly paranoid about staining and at previous dentists - I've had extreme harshness with stain removal. However, Sonterra Dental did an amazing job at removing them. But more importantly, I walked out happy- which is not a word I’ve ever used about a dental appointment before. Casey has a gift. She made an experience I was dreading feel easy, positive, and even enjoyable. If you struggle with dental anxiety or just want someone who will treat you with genuine compassion, I cannot recommend her enough. Sonterra Dental is lucky to have her, and I’m truly grateful I was placed in her care. I’m actually looking forward to my next appointment! Casey, alongside all the other welcoming staff, made my dental experience a 100/10, couldn't recommend more! :)

Fantastic experience: Amazing team, great with accommodations, gentle hands. Great tech and they make you feel so comfortable before reclining in the chair. My RDH was Lauren and DDS was Dr. Tapangan. The sweetest and most professional group of women. Definitely recommend. The xrays with my tori, Lauren went above and beyond to make things comfortable as possible for me. Super grateful.

Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked in Sonterra Dental it was great! First I was greeted by the receptionist and offered a coffee, juice, and water bar along with snacks. Then while I waited the whole two minutes my hygienist Casey came to get me and took me on a mini tour of the dental facilities. When I sat down the huge tv on the wall in front said welcome Jason to your dental family (or something along those lines). Casey was super nice she took pictures with a 3D imager, then X-rays, and finally beginning my cleaning. Before she did my cleaning she did an exam all while explaining what she was doing and what everything meant. Everything was top of the line equipment and I was very pleasantly surprised. Casey was absolutely amazing throughout the cleaning. After Dr. Tapanga came in and went over everything with me and was super nice as well. She went over the 3D images even so far to explain everything in detail. She even explained my sinuses. She took a look in my mouth to make sure everything was good. She was amazing as well and very helpful! Casey then proceeded to take me to check out where I met Miranda and she was amazing as well. I felt like I could have talked to her forever. Overall Sonterra Dental is the place you want to be if you want truly amazing service and have friendly amazing people that care! It was like a spa dentist, it made me want to be there.

Who knew a couple of root canals could actually make someone feel so good about themselves again, and it feels so great to know how the whole team listens and does their best to make you feel like your the only one there despite such a busy a bustling practice ( and rightfully so they've earned such a wonderful abundance of Clientele). Fantastic experience: As someone who typically dreads the regular dentist visits, I think I may have found a new home. The facility is very clean with loads of newer technology that you don’t see in most dentist offices. My hygienist, Pam, was very thorough and gave me some great recommendations. The doctor (Dr. T.) is extremely relatable and takes the time to explain everything to you. The attention to details and the friendliness of the staff is something I’ve been searching for, and if my last visit could be what’s expected, I am happy to go back.

Fantastic experience: The experience with Sonterra Dental was amazing. All paperwork, documets and everything else needed was done online and super easy. When our family arrived at the office, they had a cute sign on the reception vounter with all the new patient names on it... that was a nice little detail... and they also had a snack bar full of goodies!!! Very friendly staff, knowledgeable and very helpfull. They really strive to make you feel at home. The technolgy being used all around the office is the latest... amazing equipment. Once we got to our hygienist, the huge monitor in the room showed a personalized welcoming message... it really made us feel welcomed and at ease. Our hygienists were the best and treated us sooooooo... oooo nice and displayed so much patience, it was unbelievable. Very pleasant experience, will reccomend 100%!!!

Fantastic experience: My first visit to this dental office was a very satisfying experience. I had a poorly fitted crown that caused many issues and came off twice. I came to this office not knowing what to expect. The staff was very comationate and professional to begin with. Dr. Tapangan was very skillful, patient, with good thinking. She was able to make a few adjustments to fit the crown back perfectly. What a fantastic job! Absolutely exeeded my expectation! Thumbs up for you all!

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Dr. Woolwine and I was a bit nervous but Marilyn called me back and she was just so nice and down to earth and explained everything to me in such a professional yet friendly way. Then in walks Dr. Woolwine i had to get a tooth pulled, this is the best dentist i have ever been to. Fantastic experience: First time patient this morning. Went in for pain from wisdom teeth coming in. I was called right back. X-rays done immediately. Xray tech was super compassionate and comforting. No one made me feel bad for not having been to the dentist in over 8 years. Dentist Alexis Ruiz was also amazing. Made me feel very comfortable. Explained my options. Referred me to a surgeon for surgery. Both of these ladies met my fiancee and made us (as an LGBTQ couple) feel welcomed and comfortable. Front office staff was also super helpful and accommodating even giving my fiancé a work excuse who accompanied me due to my ‘dentist phobia.’ While we were checking out a man with a beautiful smile exclaimed “Thank you guys so much for my beautiful smile, y'all have changed my life!” Super heartwarming to hear as a new patient leaving the office. Fantastic experience: Dr. Tapangan and her Dental Assistants and office Staff are all EXCELLENT in their fields, and I can't thank them enough for being so lucky enough to have had the BEST DENTAL EXPERIENCE of my life! I have been traumatized by past dentists resulting in severe dental ptsd making me neglect my teeth for decades, resulting in several broken teeth due to way too many unchecked cavities destroying them and negatively affecting my gums . After 6-1/2 hours in her dental chair yesterday undergoing many major fillings and one difficult broken tooth extraction, today I have had ZERO PAIN - and I mean ZERO, save for just a slight soreness inside my right cheek/gum where the extraction took place, which was expected and my Tylenol Arthritis eased immediately. My gums and teeth feel AMAZINGLY WELL and the extraction site is healing perfectly without any overt swelling. DR. TAPANGAN IS A TRUE MIRACLE WORKER & WAS INCREDIBLY PATIENT with me, despite my increased anxiety from past dental nightmares since childhood. She has single-handedly restored my faith in Dentistry and saved me and my mouth from further self-neglect and harm due to past extreme pain, fright and anxiety. I will happily return to her office for all my regular oral maintenance and any future tooth/gum care needs now WITHOUT ANY FEAR, long before things get so painfully out of hand again. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, DR. TAPANGAN! Your utmost kindness, compassion and highest degree of Doctor/Client professionalism shone through to put me completely at ease without judgment, and you have 100% changed my view of Dentists and Dentistry for life!! Fantastic experience: Everything is "EXCELLENT." The whole staff from the time you walk in until the time the surgery is performed. EVERYONE was "GREAT"!!! You have to have someone drive you because of the sedation after the surgery (anesthesia), you can't Uber it's not allowed. Well I'm a loner, I told them that I didn't have ANYONE to drive me. That was a problem, it was a 2 day procedure. You get the surgery the first day you come back the next day to get your temporary Implants So the solution that they came up with was, I would drive myself there, get the surgery, THEY paid for a room at the nearby Drury Hotel for me to stay the night to return the next day. We'll I was out of it when the surgery was done. Do you know the actual dental surgeon who had just did my surgery actually physically himself wheelchaired me out to the parking lot and I don't know who was with me while he went and got his personal vehicle, put me in and personally drove me to the hotel, wheelchaired me in and stayed with me for about what turned out to be about 45 minutes until he felt that I would be alright. I fell asleep and he left. Now that is what I call going above and beyond. I knew someone was going to transport me but not the actual surgeon. I had lost my teeth due to diabetic complications of my gums. Never saw this coming, I knew I could never afford the procedure. I am eternally grateful. Thank you Coca-Cola, thank you BluecrossBlueshield, and last but not least, thank you Sonterra Dental.This is real.

Fantastic experience: Ya'll !! Let me tell you!! Dr Kara Tapangan and Kayla dental hygienist are truly the best!! I haven't been to a dentist in over 20 years due to an utter fear of dentists, but not anymore!! They both made me feel comfortable and informative. I went in for molar pain and came out pain free!! Dr Tapangan said my teeth were amazing since I brush twice a day and floss daily (your daily reminder). I will definitely make my dental care more often with both of them. Give them a call ya'll and make an appt with Dr Tapangan. You are definitely in good hands!

Fantastic experience: I am so pleased to have found Sonterra Dental! I recently moved from NY to TX and having a dentist set up was important to me. The dentist is not something I usually look forward to, but I think that’s changed since discovering Sonterra Dental. Working with Lana was so easy! She talked me through the process, provided me headphones to hook up my own music with to wear during the cleaning (I’m not a big fan of the dental noises), and ensured I knew the workings of the whole cleaning process for my own peace of mind. She was understanding of my choice in having a fluoride-free experience and even gave me suggestions in other dental products I could use that fit my needs. I cannot recommend this office enough!

Fantastic experience: I just had my first visit with this office today. Truly this was the best experience I have ever had at a dentist. I went in for a bad root canal and they made me feel so comfortable. When I had first tried to make an appointment, they told me there was no availability till August but they continually watched for appointments on my available days and called me every time they had an opening to make sure that I could get in sooner it was truly the best customer service I have ever received from any sort of medical practice. The appointment took two hours and it never felt like I was rushed or that they were trying to just get extra patients in and make more money. This staff is AMAZING.

Ashley, Miranda, and Suzette at the front desk were incredibly warm and welcoming. I had an outstanding experience with Lauren, the dental hygienist, who provided one of the best cleanings I’ve ever had and took the time to answer all of my questions. Dr. Tapangan is hands down the best dentist in San Antonio! She explained everything in detail and is helping me achieve the smile I’ve always wanted. She also has the best assistant, Jess! I highly recommend coming to Sonterra Dental!

Fantastic experience: My daughter Gisela can be very anxious about the dentist and asks a lot of questions—she wants to know the “why” and “how” behind everything being done. At her recent visit, she had a cleaning with Hygienist Sydney, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about the experience. Sydney was so patient, kind, and incredibly attentive to every one of Gisela’s questions. She explained things in a way that made my daughter feel safe and understood, and helped her feel totally at ease. Sydney’s fun and loving personality made the entire appointment feel like a positive experience instead of something scary. By the end, Gisela is excited to come back to the dentist—which says a lot! I would wholeheartedly recommend Sydney and Dr. Tapangan and Dr. Ruiz to any parent with a child who’s a little apprehensive about dental visits. They truly make it a great time and know exactly how to connect with kids.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Sonterra Dental for about 3 years now. I moved from Corpus Christi and needed to find a new dentist. I have been seeing Dr. T, and both my son and husband are also seen in the office. The staff and Dentists have been very friendly and take their time to explain things. The office is equipped with state of the art technology, which makes everything visually better to see what is going on/ concerns. I look forward to my visits every 6 months and will always refer friends and family to their office.

Fantastic experience: Love the staff and the dentists at Sonterra Dental. Hanh, my hygienist, is very gentle and thorough when cleaning my teeth. We have become friends over the years so we enjoy sharing family info. Have to let Hanh do most of the talking while she cleans as my mouth has to remain wide open. Hanh puts everyone at ease and has never been critical of how I care for my teeth. She is an encourager. Dr T is much like Hanh as she puts her patients at ease and is gentle in her examination. Dr T is also the first dentist I have had that actively looked in my mouth for oral cancers. Thank you, Dr T!

Fantastic experience: Warby Parker at la Cantera is easily the best place to get an eye exam, glasses and contacts. Dr. Patel, an optometrist actually listens to perceived complications and responds with options based on her professional experience. She doesn't just do the obvious. She does the exceptional, all while engaging with her client . The staff is also great; making sure that we bring samples of contacts for the followup and keeping our appointment slot close to the original time, as well as helping us order perscription sunglasses with the correct features at a discount. I have found my eye place!

She’s always so sweet and kind and fun to have life conversations with! Dr. T is also the best! Always makes us feel so comfortable and listens to suggestions we may have. Fantastic experience: Complete confidence in Dr. T @ Sonterra Dental. Unlike my last dentist, they have all the latest toys for diagnosis & treatment. This last visit for cleaning came with the yearly X-ray scans and the new AI program reading those scans. Nifty, then the doctor gives a second check. Can’t say I ever like a dentist visit, but these guys get closer than I’ve ever had.

Fantastic experience: Today was my initial visit. I was met with smiles and a very friendly environment. Lana was my Dental Hygienist. She greeted me at check in and accompanied me throughout my visit. She is VERY thorough and very gentle with the cleaning process and explaining everything every step of the way. Dr T is very kool and VERY knowledgeable! She presented a plan for continued care that made sense and doesn't break the budget...and will make my smile brighter. Fantastic experience: Previously went to 2 other Dental offices and this is by far the visiting experience I had. Dr. Tapangan’s team was very professional. You feel that your concerns are heard and the procedures are done with emphasis on patient care and comfortability. Fantastic experience: Sonterra Dental office is excellent 5 star rate My teeth was so bad I was hurting for 9 years that I couldn't take it anymore I had 3 infection upper teeth effect my eye and Dr. WoolWine inplants doctor help me so much I can't believe it i am 63 and No one ever help me like Dr. WoolWine he show me all the infection and need total upper inplants my teeth was really bad that other dentist mess up i spend so much money else wear that I wish I found Dr. WoolWine fist I would of save lots of money lesson learn let Dr. WoolWine do your complete inplants he will do it right the first time around it will be your last teeth you buy. Fantastic experience: If I could give Lauren more than five stars, I would! She’s not just an incredible hygienist—she’s a toddler whisperer and a superhero in scrubs. I brought my two high-energy toddlers in (with their equally high-energy mom—you’ve been warned!), and somehow Lauren managed to keep all of us calm, smiling, and even excited to be at the dentist. She’s incredibly patient, gentle, and somehow makes flossing look like a fun activity (still not sure how she pulled that off). My girls adore her so much that they literally don’t want to leave when we’re done. I’m convinced we need to ask her to dial back the coolness—just a little—so I don’t have to bribe my kids out of the dental chair every time.
