Fantastic experience: I was wonderfully welcomed and taken care of at Family Dentistry on Manchaca. My previous experience with a different practice left me so frustrated. I cannot convey how healing it can be to come to a place that genuinely cares for your health and doesn’t use scare tactics to price gauge you into things your insurance doesn’t cover. Dr. Nguyen did my new patient cleaning and was very intentional to make me feel comfortable and address issues or concerns in a way that was encouraging and thoughtful towards my finances. I very much so appreciate the whole staff as they radiate something that feels lost in today’s service industries—warmth, empathy, compassion, and a determination to take the best care of you. Fantastic experience: I surprisingly had a very positive experience at this dental office today! I needed a crown replaced which broke off and from the moment I walked in I felt the staff was very professional and friendly. Maria helped me with my finances which wasn’t as painful as I’ve experienced with other dental offices in the past. Trisha was the MOST competent dental assistant I’ve ever had! She was caring, gentle, and extremely kind. The best part of my experience, however, was with Doctor Nguyen who demonstrated her great knowledge and expertise while caring for my teeth. She made sure I was comfortable every step of the way and communicated throughout the whole procedure making me feel most relaxed in the dentist chair where most of us hate being. I would recommend this dental practice should you need a dentist at any time. I’m happy I found them.

Negative experience: Came in for a teeth cleaning and to remove my perm retainer. Retainer was taken care of. Refused to give me a normal cleaning. Insisted on giving a deep cleaning instead. Sorry, had one of those in 2022! Not everyone has that kind of money.

I continue to receive fantastic care from all of her staff (from the front desk through the staff dentists). I have always received the best care and support from her staff! I have the best hygienist ever (Thanks JaQuaye)! They continue to provide the best care ever in a caring, and pain-free way! Fantastic experience: 2025 Update: it's been 10 years at this point and it's all still true! Before I stumbled on to Family Dentistry about 5 years ago it had been 18 years since I had visited a dentist. Several bad experiences when I was younger not only turned me off of going to the dentist but had left an actually fear in it's place. The staff at Family Dentistry completely turned that around. Everyone is incredibly nice and informative! I actually find myself looking forward to my next visit. If you had asked me, previously if I ever thought that would be the case, I would have laughed in your face. This is a GREAT dental practice!

She never lectures or shames anyone for inevitably not taking perfect care of their teeth and she’s really great at keeping it positive with an anxious patient. Negative experience: We are new to Austin, and looking for simple twice yearly cleanings and checkups. I made an appointment online for an exam AND cleaning for my son. My appointment (including my cleaning) was confirmed by phone. My son went to the appointment, was charged $250 for an exam and xrays and then told he would have to schedule a cleaning at another date. Whatever scam it has become to upsell services and 'deep cleanings' and not just take basic care of people's teeth is absurd. I will be in search of a proper, dentist owned, family dentist.

Fantastic experience: I've been using Family Dentistry in Manchaca,Tx for a few years and I can't imagine using anyone else. I've had other Dentists but none of them was as professional and at the same time as fun as Dr A and her staff. Their office is nice and it's easy to get to. If you're looking for a Dentist this group will make you happy. Made my 2021 check up visit with them again. As always they make you feel very welcome and they are super friendly. I am so happy I found them.

Dr. Bassi has great bedside manner\My parents spent considerable money on my teeth when I was growing up so am committed to taking care of them. I am fortunate to have dental insurance which affords me my cleanings and pays for half of any further work needed. I know treatments are expensive but the office will work with you regarding payment plans.

Negative experience: The staff is so kind but think there are decisions being made for money making purposes. Many people in neighborhoods around here went for convenience and have left for bad experiences. Everyone somehow needs crowns and Invisalign. I have had so much pain from the crown I apparently needed and the dentist I go to now showed me pictures of how they improperly placed it too far in my gum, causing all the pain and bleeding. He said I should try to get it replaced here but I don’t ever want them working on my mouth.

EDIT: got the plan to cover two cleanings per year and when I was rescheduled on my second appointment they informed me that my plan had expired and I would need to buy a new plan. it felt like a rip off. disappointes me that I will have to find a new clinic.

Fantastic experience: What a great experience! I have gone to many dentists and never had such friendly and thorough treatment. I recently received a bill I wasn't expecting... Turns out my insurance is awful and basically useless but Notie helped me sort it out. I really appreciate the dentist because it's not easy finding one that doesn't say you need unnecessary work done. I even noticed on my bill they gave my x-rays as a courtesy! Imagine that! I highly recommend this office.

Negative experience: I have been a patient at this location for many years and recently become extremely disappointed. My insurance changed but I had cavities that needed fillings. I was given a quote and scheduled the appointment. At NO point did they inform me that I was now out-of-network. I went in for the procedure and received a bill for an addition $400!!!! This is outrageous! My co-worker called in-advance to make sure her cleanings were covered and they said YES. She had the procedure done and was billed $200!! This once friendly and caring office now seems money hungry and very shady. :(

Starting from their flexibility with our crazy moving schedule, text communication, super friendly front desk staff, kind and gentle hygienists (X-rays can hurt), personable and thorough dentists, to the super efficient checkout and insurance staff. I don't think I could have asked for a better experience, from start to finish with me and two of my children, and my daughter got a beautiful and brand new smile with a little bonding on her teeth that made her SO happy and smiling so big!

Negative experience: Needed to come in for a teeth cleaning. JUST a teeth cleaning. I do travel work and everywhere I go everybody wants to get a x ray of my teeth. I can’t do that every 6 months it’s expensive and unhealthy. I tried to convey this over the phone, before I came in. I just need a teeth cleaning. Made an appointment for 9am today about a week ago, they bumped me up to 8am without my knowledge. Which puts me in the heart of early morning traffic. Which means I had to wake up at 6 am to be ready to drive by 7am, to be there at 8am. Once I get there they tell me they will need the X ray, I try to tell them that I was told this wouldn't be an issue over the phone. I need JUST a teeth cleaning that’s it. I get the topical corporate NPC robotic “ this is just our policy” rhetoric . No human compassion, no integrity, no care, just a robot following its programming. Waste of my time money and life.

Fantastic experience: If you need a dentist, I highly recommend this place. My husband and I started going here a few years ago and have now have transitioned our family of eight over. The staff is amazing from hygienist to dentist to receptionist love love love this place. I’ve had traumatic dental experiences in the past with one of my children, and this place puts her at ease With their communication and care. I also have been an orthodontic guinea pig and I can’t say enough about their bedside manner. Don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself.

Fantastic experience: I visited Family Dentistry on 9/23/2024 to have my first of two visits for a deep cleaning. When I arrived I was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist and waited a few minutes before being taken into my room with my dental hygienist. The dental hygienist introduced herself as Brandi and is the absolute sweetest person that I have ever met. She made the process easy and painless all while being very meticulous and thorough with the cleaning. Brandi also explained everything to me making sure I felt comfortable during the entire process. 5 Gold Star Experience and I would highly recommend this dentistry.

Fantastic experience: I actually enjoy going to the dentist! Let that sink in, if my insurance would cover 4 cleanings per year, I'd be here 4 times...From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted by friendly faces. Brandi has been my hygienist for years and it's always a pleasure to catch up and I leave with my teeth feeling amazingly clean. I feel like I can trust the opinions of everyone here- not pressured for services I don't need, but also feeling like my teeth are getting the attention they deserve. Can't recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: Posting under a pseudonym: I’ve gone here for several years at this point and have nothing but good things to say. I actually moved and still go out of my way to specifically come to this location. The folks I’ve worked with the most are Brandi, and Cy, they are both very competent, kind, and inviting. Consistent personable staff like them and the rest of the folks make returning to this location a no-brainer Also, they are very understanding and welcoming of me and my strange personality and over the top fashion sense!

Negative experience: The worst experience I have ever had with a dentist. I went for a dental check-up and cleaning and the first thing they do is expose the patient to unnecessary x-rays before the dentist's visual examination. Then the only thing they did was, and halfway, polish the enamel and make an estimate for the comprehensive cleaning. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLINIC EVEN IF THEY PAID ME

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with Menchaca Family Dentistry. They lure you in with promises of affordable care but end up scamming you with unnecessary treatments and extensive dental plans that are unneeded and expensive. They’re more interested in pushing their financial plans (watch out for them recommending lasers, fluoride, and night guards) than providing genuine dental care. Avoid this place if you value transparency and honest service. My husband and I both went to a new dentist, who confirmed the extended plans MFD put us on were unnecessary and fraudulent.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a client at Family dentistry for several years and it speaks to the quality of service and care I receive during every visit. The hygienist that has taken care of me the last few visits is outstanding. I always request that she goes old school and use the hand tools instead of the mechanical dremmel. She does this without hesitation and with utmost care. I highly recommend Family Dentistry to anyone in the South Austin area.
