Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Tender Smiles 4 Kids in Freehold since I was a kid, and now even as an adult I still trust them with my dental care. The entire team has always been incredibly patient, gentle, and great at making you feel comfortable, no matter your age. They explain everything clearly, they’re great with kids, and they truly take their time with every appointment. The office is clean, welcoming, and runs on time, something I’ve always appreciated growing up and even more now. It’s rare to find a place where you feel at ease every visit, but they’ve been that for me my whole life. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a pediatric or adult dentist who genuinely cares.

Fantastic experience: Staff is super friendly. The tvs for the kids a plus to distract them. Dentist Max is super friendly and kind. He is great with kids of all ages. My kids are never scared to go to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely great experience, my 7 yr old daughter has autism and has a hard time with these visits but everyone was so friendly the dentist was so kind, patient and quick. It’s nice to finally find a dentist who understands.

Fantastic experience: Today was my daughter first day with them and they did great was able to get X-rays that her previous dentist couldn’t get from her they did it without a problem walked her thru what they was doing to her put her favorite show on the tv for her very nice.

Negative experience: Honestly I have very mixed feelings while leaving this review, I’m normally not the type of person to leave reviews but i think it’s necessary. My daughters first visit I had gotten her excited to come for her cleaning and I was not very fond of the way the hygienist went about taking her radiographs, she had no compassion when placing the sensor for her bitewings and I found it to be very forceful and more uncomfortable that it need to be for my daughter. I chose to look passed it and keep positive vibes for my kid… although I wasn’t very pleased I chose to give it a second try and I scheduled an appointment for the treatment… my daughter was seen by Dr.John and an awesome assistant who unfortunately I did not catch her name but she was very soothing and caring with my baby. Dr.John was gentle and took the time necessary to make sure she was comfortable on the nitrous, he also let the topical take effect before injecting which as a result my daughter did not even feel the injection.. she had an amazing visit not one single tear and all smiles after completing two fillings. Her second visit she was seen by a different doctor who I will not mention names, the assistant did not interact with my daughter, she was on her phone texting while the doctor was out of the room and had no compassion with my daughter while she was being treated, she did not attempt to sooth her at all, the doctor placed the topical for less than 20 seconds and immediately injected her, so she felt a great deal of pain compared to her first visit, he then used a mouth prop which my daughter was very uncomfortable with after getting worked up from the injection and when I asked for the isolite suction instead which my daughter was more comfortable with in her last visit, he and the assistant seemed bothered as if it was an inconvenience.The treatment continued and when I went to check out I encountered yet another issue. Due to a prior conversation I had with another receptionist they had accommodated this time for her appointments because of my work schedule and because she had done so great with her behavior in her previous visit, but when I went to the receptionist she refused to give me another appointment at the same time and said she did not know who gave me an appointment at that time but that she couldn’t schedule me that way for her next appointment along with the annoyed expressions on her face. I am highly disappointed and I will now have to deal with the trauma my daughter felt from today, also from the rudeness and complete lack of empathy. Dr.John and his assistant were AMAZING but after this visit I will not be returning to this office again. Working at a pedo office isn’t just a job, you have to have empathy and know how to make a child feel like their in a safe place.. that’s not something that can be taught it’s something that has to grow from inside yourself. Negative experience: This afternoon I had my 6yr old daughter’s first dental visit at Tender Smiles for Kidz in Freehold NJ. And beyond my wildest dreams, I was humiliated and my HIPPA RIGHTS were violated by the staff at this office. Mind you this is a children’s dental practice. I was brought in a room and was told I was “DISMISSED “from their office from years prior. I was in shock. I explained that they must have the wrong person, but about 6/7yrs ago I explained My son was a patient for a short period of time, the last of his visits the dentist gave me options to distract his baby teeth or just leave them be. So I chose to leave them be. The office assistant at the front desk brought me in a dark room n insisted I cancelled various appointments. I still have no idea what she was talking about. Then the she took my drivers license & daughters health insurance card and proceeded to discuss this all of the other employees and dentists, to where other people and their children heard all of my private health business and my daughters. I was in total disgust and shock of what was going on. I’m Hiram attorney. .

Fantastic experience: Today was our first visit receptionist was helpful, dental assistant was amazing (don't know how to spell her name) and Dr. John was great! My daughter was diagnosed with autism 1 3 months ago and everyone made her feel so comfortable.

Fantastic experience: I brought my daughter with a possible tongue tie to see Dr. Max and let me tell you, what an awesome person. Very personable, quick but not shoving you out the door, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable to be there. He listened to all my concerns and answered them professionally. Our wait time in the waiting room was not long at all, the whole staff was welcoming, cheerful, GREAT work ethic and so on. I even called back the same day with questions I forgot to ask and they were answered the same day. It’s hard to find a doctors office with good work ethic “now a days” but we were lucky to find the whole office was filled with such a lovely staff. We will definitely be going back. 10 stars!!!

Negative experience: called to try and schedule an appointment for my daughter. i asked the receptionist if the do laser for filings and she rudely said sometimes. when i asked what she meant she said it depends on the doctor. Your receptionist has a nasty attitude, and is going to cost your businesses.

Fantastic experience: Worked with dr john he was great but Julie at the front really worked with me with scheduling, I was very annoying with getting my kids on the same day and she was extremely patient and worked amazing to help me get everything set up. If every front desk associate was like her my life would be so much easier. Would highly recommend this office we were in and out in an hr

Fantastic experience: Always a great experience with Dr. Max and Dr. Heller! Dr. Max takes care of my son and Dr. Heller sees me, and they’re both super efficient. I really like that the doctor does the cleaning themselves and makes sure to check everything carefully—it feels so much more thorough.

Fantastic experience: The whole team is amazing! From making our first two appointments, and preparing for my 3 year old's first dental procedure, every single staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate. I was so scared my child would hate the dentist after a big procedure so young, but she is still happy to go back because the Tender Smiles staff made the experience the best it could be.

Fantastic experience: Very clean, bright office & waiting area with a beautiful fish tank. Tv on the ceiling so the kids can watch while being examined. All the staff very nice. I wish I had a dentist like this when I was a kid. my kids are coming here since they were three. They are now 13 and 15. The only problem is I think they are taking on too many patients appointments are becoming ridiculous to get my kids have been having appointments here every six months since they are three without fail, the past two times they can't give us an appointment six months away they're telling us we have to wait eight months and that they will put us on Cancellation list and if anyone cancels, we can get the six month appointment. That's just ridiculous! And God forbid you miss your appointment which happens only once in all the years my kids are going to this dentist. They missed their appointment once and they were telling me, I couldn't get an appointment until the year out! I used to love this. DENTIST tender smiles for kids. But I feel like they're becoming greedy and taking on way too many patients.

Fantastic experience: During my son's first visit, he, being on the autism spectrum, experienced some difficulty due to his fear of the vibrating toothbrush. However, the staff members displayed exceptional patience and gentleness towards him. Additionally, the dentist who attended to us after the cleaning was also very courteous.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Leia was amazing... fixed 2 cavities in 6 minutes for my 7 year old who was NOT as easy patient! Highly recommend!!! Front desk staff was NOT 5 stars, more like 2.... especially the lady with a tattoo on her neck for check in... But, our dentist was angel as well as her assistant.

Fantastic experience: My daughter needed some dental work and needed to have her procedure done at Monmouth Medical and I was hesitant at first because my daughter suffers from anxiety. But Dr Liya assured me all was going to be ok. On the day of procedure the hospital staff was great with my daughter and Dr Liya came and explained what was going to happen. My daughter went in and it felt like immediately the staff told me the procedure was done and my daughter was in recovery. I couldn't believe how fast it was. Then as I waited for my daughter to return, Dr Liya came out and explained everything she did. I was very pleased with the hospital, Dr Liya and the whole procedure went smoothly. I would recommend Dr Liya and staff to all my friends and family.

Negative experience: For years we used this doctor for my kids and were satisfied with their service until now,unfortunately last years my kids (3)did not have insurance and we couldn’t afford to take them for the checks or anything,now they have insurance again and we called them to get appointments for my 3 kids and the front desk receptionist told us that the doctor decided not to take my kids because we didn’t bring them last year!! That’s ridiculous and unfair,the receptionist told us is nothing we can do and that we have to look for another doctor for my kids,I hope this doctor never finds out what it feels to live on a budget and not to have insurance.

Our 7 year old daughter had quite a bit of work done, including 1 extraction, 4 fillings, and 3 crowns, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free. From the moment we walked in, the receptionists were so friendly and made us feel right at home. They’re always easy to talk to and are very accommodating, which made scheduling appointments a breeze. Dr. Kim is absolutely fantastic! He is incredibly knowledgeable and has such a warm, reassuring bedside manner. He took the time to explain everything to us in detail, from the procedure to the aftercare, and made sure we felt confident about the care plan. Fantastic experience: Here’s a review from my son about our most recent visit to the Tender Smiles of Freehold dental office. OMG, I just got back from my visit to Tender Smiles of Freehold Dental Office, and it was so amazing! Seriously, this place is like the coolest dental office ever! The staff and doctors are super friendly and make you feel like you're hanging out with friends rather than at the dentist. They even have these huge TVs in the treatment rooms where you can watch your favorite shows while you’re getting your teeth cleaned. It totally helps to distract you, and I got to watch cartoons, which made the whole thing way less scary! The equipment they have is also really high-tech and looks super neat. I felt like I was in a futuristic movie or something! The only thing that's a little tricky is booking an appointment. Sometimes you have to wait a while, like a few months if it’s not an emergency. But honestly, I think that just means they’re super popular because everyone trusts them to take care of their teeth! So, if you can get in, it’s totally worth it. In conclusion, Tender Smiles of Freehold is definitely a great place to go for dental care, and I can't wait to go back!

Fantastic experience: I had an urgent request to see Dr. Heller as I was having severe pain. She agreed to see me and was so compassionate. On previous visits, Dr. Heller has been very thorough and compassionate, as I am someone who gets very afraid with dental work. If you have sensitive teeth or even if you are just looking for a top quality dentist, I would highly recommend Dr. Heller.

Fantastic experience: Tender Smiles is THE place to go for dental & Orthodontics. I've been bringing my children there since they were very little, and they are now 17 & 19 and both got braces here as well. EVERYONE is so sweet & friendly, you can just tell that they take pride in their work. VERY CLEAN, and it's a happy atmosphere for children who may be scared before they go for the first time. I drive 35 minutes to bring my daughter to tender smiles in Freehold to see the orthodontist that's how good he is, and Tender smiles is! Prices are reasonable and they work with you on a payment plan if needed. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Today was our first time at Tender Smiles. My 4 year old has terrible anxiety and the hygienist was so good with her. She was told the fluoride was teeth glitter and the entire day she told everyone she had sparkly teeth. The extra step to even “brush” her stuffed dogs teeth was so appreciated.

Fantastic experience: This is a great place to have your dental needs. Dr. Heller is the best and the hygienists are very careful and gentle with your teeth. Admin staff is also very friendly.

Positive experience: We met with Dr. John -- the newest member of the staff. While at first displeased that we were not informed that we would not see Dr. Scot, I relaxed. Dr. John was very personable. It was a great visit with him. Switching gears a bit, I echo similar comments made here about Dr. Liya (no bedside manners whatsoever!); billing can be a nightmare; and the quality of the management has deteriorated during the 6 years I've been bringing my son there. Dr. Max -- please read and heed our comments and implement changes. TSK is a 45-minute drive. We could obviously switch dentists, but we have stayed.

Fantastic experience: My son had a very bad experience at a DIFFERENT DENTIST. But at tender smiles for kids the doctor wanted to make sure that my son 8 yrs old with ADHD understood everything that was going to happen. The hygienist was very calm and explained everything in detail to my son before doing anything. This made him very calm and he came home saying that Tender Smile for kids - this dentist is the new dentist for me. The dentist has to do a whole bunch of dental work and he is not scared to come back.And get it done. Thank you!

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with care my daughter received in this office recently. We came for teeth cleaning. During this procedure. multiple staff member were in and out of the room for just talking to the person who did cleaning. On next day, my daughter complained on discomfort in her mouth, and I noticed she got a gum abscess. I called to the office and asked for emergency appointment. But doctor refused to see my daughter. I asked for an antibiotic prescription. Later , I received phone call from pharmacy informing me that the prescription they received was uncleared and doctor is not responding to their call for correction. More than that Dr made a claim to the state of NJ on me as a mother to protect herself and her unprofessional response to the issue we had faced after visiting her office. I’m highly recommending to stay away from this office.

Fantastic experience: Doctor was the best explained EVERY step while filling my son’s cavity. Staff was great too especially the man at the front desk who set up my emergency appointment and was able to get my son in a few hours after the call. Everyone is nice and greats you with a smile. Negative experience: Just had unbelievably Bad experience here. Denied my child care for not getting a Panoramic x-ray. I will talk to lawyer especially if my son has any cavities as we waited 6 months for the appointment and now will likely have to wait another 6 months to be seen elsewhere. This completely traumatized my child and he is crying in the lobby. This traumatized my children. Unacceptable and unprofessional. We were here for routine follow up.

Positive experience: Overall we had a great experience for my 11 month old’s first visit to the dentist. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. They were very quick cleaning her tiny teeth which was great because she’s a baby and did not like it at all (not their fault). My only issue with this office is their policy that they will only see babies in the morning because “babies do better in the morning”. My baby is a night owl (her choice, definitely not mine) and sometimes doesn’t wake up until 11, which is their latest appointment time for babies. Please don’t try to tell me the best time of day for my baby? I’ve been with her everyday for 11 months and when I say she does better in the afternoon, BELIEVE ME. Only seeing babies in the morning because MOST do better at that time is like not believing in wheelchair ramps because MOST people can walk.

Fantastic experience: Tender Smiles 4 Kids is literally the best of the best. My daughter was terrified while getting a procedure, and everyone went above and beyond to make her feel safe and comfortable. They were so calm and incredibly patient to ensure the best experience possible.

Negative experience: I wanted to give 0 stars but had to click at least 1. I brought my kids in February 2023 for the first (and only) time and the dentist was SO rude to me, I almost cried. When I made the appt for my 6 and almost 3 year old, they said they see younger ones in the morning. I explained that I worked and asked nicely if I could bring them together in the afternoon. She said "sure, we'll see how she does." It was only my 3 year old's second time at a dentist, first time there and for a cleaning, and I could see she was a little overwhelmed. She's shy around strangers, so she cried. The hygienist said it's normal for her age and wasn't bothered. The dentist, Dr. Max Sulla, came over after the cleaning and said, "I see you somehow got past the front desk with my rules about scheduling." I asked what he was talking about and he reprimanded me, insinuating that I somehow bullied them into letting me bring my daughter to an afternoon appt when they aren't allowed and that "statistically they're better behaved in the morning". I told him that I asked if I could bring her bc I work and they said yes. He angrily ripped off his mask and said, "if you work, you're busy in the afternoon too." I told him I work part time so I'm off in the afternoons. He told me she can't come in the afternoons anymore bc they reserve it for kids in school, or I can bring my son and her "before school" at 9 am (my son gets the bus at 7:30 for an 8 am start...I don't know any schools that start after 9 am). I was so shocked and upset at being reprimanded like a child who did something wrong, when I asked nicely while making the appt and they said it was fine. After a stressful day at work, I almost cried but held it in until I got home. It is now August 2024 (18 months after our appointment) and I was told today that I have an outstanding bill for both kids and will be sent to collections. I have called them repeatedly about these bills because we have 100% dental coverage and was told to ignore them and that they would submit the claim to our insurance company properly. On the phone today, the woman argued with me about how our insurance covers dental. It first has to be sent to our health insurance and then our dental. She told me they never send to health and will only send it to dental. Because they are incompetent and unwilling to submit our claim properly, we are now being punished. I have spoken to many people who were also very unhappy with this practice, which seemed like a factory. Stay FAR FAR away!

Fantastic experience: THE BEST DENTISTRY I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! I was supper traumatized from prior dentist and this office and the staff have made sure I always feel comfortable, that I don’t feel any pain and very responsive to any questions / concerns . I will continue to drive an hour just to keep them !

Fantastic experience: Absolutely, I'd be happy to help! I've been a loyal patient of Dr. Heller for a few years now, and I can confidently say that their dental care is unparalleled. Dr. Heller's expertise is evident in every aspect of their practice. They take the time to thoroughly explain procedures and answer any questions I have, putting any anxiety I might have had at ease. Their attention to detail is remarkable, ensuring that each visit is comfortable and painless. What truly sets this dental practice apart is the genuine care they show for their patients. Dr. Heller remembers personal details about my life and always takes a moment to catch up, making each visit feel like catching up with a friend rather than a clinical appointment. Over the years, I've had various treatments, from routine cleanings to more complex procedures, and I've always been impressed by the skill and professionalism exhibited by the entire team. The office is equipped with the latest technology, which gives me confidence in the accuracy of diagnoses and the effectiveness of treatments. I can't recommend Dr. Heller and TenderSmiles of Freehold highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Everything about this place is wonderful. My two children need extensive dental work and they made us feel totally comfortable. The place itself is perfect for families with multiple children as it is an open space and you can keep an eye on all your kiddos at the same time.

Negative experience: Parents BEWARE of Tender Smiles in Freehold. This place has been a problem for years. This business is understaffed and managed by some truly incompetent individuals. Quite often the staff screws up billing, scheduling and then attempts to point the finger at someone else for their incompetence. It is so hard to get an appoint for my kids due to the fact that they’re so understaffed, but then management attempted to blame me for not making appointments. There are so many other dental places in the area that offer better service and are more cost effective than Tender Smiles. As soon as my son’s braces come off, i will be taking my two kids to Eastern Dental where the fluoride doesn’t cost $60 but instead $15.

Fantastic experience: Dr Liya is by far the best doctor that has ever treated my children. My middle daughter has extreme fear of going to the Dentist and Dr Liya has not only seen her from her first dentist appointment, but has always been patient and understanding in helping to manage her anxiety. I am so grateful she has stuck with my kids because I can’t imagine bringing them to anyone else. She is the best and I can never thank her enough. The assistants and front desk staff are also extraordinary and are always accommodating, patient and friendly. I couldn’t believe that Nate got my 4 year old son to sit through X-rays for the first time this week ! I cannot say enough about how great this office is.

Fantastic experience: The receptionist, the hygienist and the doctors are warm and knowledgeable. The offices are clean and have the newest equipment. I enjoy going to the dentist with my son's at tender smiles.

Fantastic experience: My children love going to Tender Smiles !! They have been life long patients and they are now 10 and 13. They’be both had braces put on today by the ortho dept ..I am so happy to be part of the Tender Smiles family .. Thank you for making my children a priority. God bless.

Fantastic experience: My son needed a consultation for an upcoming procedure. The dentist’s office has never been his favorite place. Ever. Although he’d still rather not be there, he did confirm that everyone was nice and that he had fun. The environment is great for kids. This includes the staff; who are engaging, patient, and concise. My baby boy told all of his classmates about the dentist and that he has to go back. The most important part? His willingness to share his experience (without tears). Thank you!

Fantastic experience: My three kids had an appointment today (yes they do three at once!) It was such a wonderful experience the hygienists were amazing with my littles. Highly recommend them to anyone. They are amazing. Update Still amazing Dr. Scott is so thorough and great with my kids!! Staff is also so nice and efficient with getting my 3 in and out. Update!! 3 years later and all of this still holds true! My kids actually get excited to go to the dentist... I know weird but they make it such an inviting and non scary place it is a pleasure to go. Never thought I'd say that about a dentist like EVER but here we are.

Fantastic experience: We love this office so much ! My son had his cleaning with Olivia today and she is so sweet and patient , and amazing ! I take both of my young children here and have a very great experience every time ! The dentist and entire staff are very sweet ,welcoming and a joy to be around ! I highly recommend taking your kids here
