Smiles 4 Kids: Dentistry for Children

Fantastic experience: Most awesome dentist. I took my grandchildren. They were all so nice, knowledgable and efficient.

Positive experience: The dentist is great - friendly, fast and efficient. Most of the staff is friendly. My only complaint is the cleanings on my kid's teeth seem too rushed. And today the person who cleaned two of my kids teeth was not friendly at all with any of us and she just looked mad. And maybe she was just having a bad day.. But t was uncomfortable and both my kids complained to me that she was too rough and that it hurt while she cleaned their teeth. I think staff should have a gentle and welcoming demeanor when working with children to make them comfortable and put them at ease. For this reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

The best Dentist’s making kids feel comfortable going to get their teeth checked for the first time. Cant recommend them enough! They care for their patient’s like they would their own family. Negative experience: Just called to see if they could fit my 2 year old in for an emergency visit due to a chipped tooth and swelling gums. The receptionist was SO RUDE! Before I could even finish talking she cut me off saying “Well he’s not even in our system” mind you this is AFTER I said it’d be his first appointment. And I repeated once again that he’d be a new patient. And she goes “Oh well we can’t do that today” ARE YOU SERIOUS?!! This is why you guys are the least recommended dentistry to go to.

Fantastic experience: Smile for kids is always a great place to bring your kids. The Dentist and the Assistant's are very professional. Very informative. And they make you feel welcomed. They have a small play room in the waiting room. And a train the circles the office.

The Dentists are compassionate and take their time if something needs to be discussed. I can’t recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: My son had broken his two front teeth from the scooter handle bars hitting his mouth and Dr. Johnson was amazing with him! He made sure his mouth was numb, asked if he was okay throughout fixing his two teeth and by the end, I couldn't even tell he had broken his teeth! He did such an amazing job! We'll be going back to him in the future. Also, the lady who did the numbing in his mouth was so gentle and kind. I'm super thankful for people who go out of their way to make sure your kiddo is comfortable ad much as possible!

It’s been a great experience every time! The staff is so friendly, approachable, and helpful. All the doctors have been great with my kids. They take the time to relate to them and connect with them. It feels like everyone who works there genuinely cares about each of my children’s individual needs, and they give them the best care. With being a past dental assistant myself, the care of my children’s teeth is very important to me. I know they’re in good hands at Smiles 4 Kids!

Fantastic experience: My little guy fell and hit his teeth on our coffee table. They were so kind and got us in to get X-rays the next morning. The staff was very friendly and my son wasn’t scared at all! Thankfully no broken teeth!! Dr. Upton and Dr. Berg did a great job calming my nerves and explained everything! Great job!!

Fantastic experience: Brought my 8 year old in for a chipped tooth that had a cavity. It was a baby tooth and we decided to just pull the tooth to let the adult tooth come in, the crew here was very polite, friendly and were very professional. Thought she was gonna need some kids Tylenol after the numbness wore off, but she didn't need it at all. Been 3 days since she had her tooth pulled and it's not bothering her at all. They did a good clean job. No issues. Would recommend.

The ladies that run the front are also very patient and provide wonderful customer service for all your scheduling and insurance questions.

Negative experience: My daughter had an appointment, her last one before she turned 18 and left for college. We wanted to get a current cleaning and checkup that she could take with her. They called 2 hours before her appointment and said they refused to see her due to her last appointment needing work and she needed to go to a general dentist. I told them why she was coming, just as I did when I made the appointment and she said it didn’t matter they won’t see her. She is still a minor, and needs a cleaning which is what they are supposed to do. They called yesterday to confirm the appointment so what changed? This place is a joke! The response provided by the company is not acceptable as they provide cleaning and x-rays which is what we were requesting so that she could get established at a new dentist where she will be going to college. This was all explained to them when the appointment was made and again today when they canceled the appointment. It is going to take time to get a new dentist once she is settled and she is due for a cleaning. The person that called was rude and said “it doesn’t matter, we refuse to see her.” Well now they can lose all 6 of my kids. We don’t need people who treat people this way.

The kids love the train that runs round the facility. My son had two baby teeth pulled to allow the adult teeth to drop. We couldn’t have picked a better place to have this procedure done. The dentist even checked on us later that night, I thought that was kind.

Positive experience: I have five children ranging from 4-13 years old. I arrived and filled out paperwork via a tablet. The environment was clean and child-friendly. My kids liked the train that moves throughout the facility, and the holiday movie in the waiting area. We were taken back to do x-rays and cleanings. After the cleanings were complete, they told me a hygienist would come work more on some staining my son had. I wondered what the title of the nice ladies were who had cleaned my kids' teeth if they weren't hygienists. They told me they were dental assistants, which was a new experience having anyone but hygienists cleaning my kids' teeth, but it worked out great :) They also asked about flouride which I gladly agreed to. After the hygienist came and worked on my middle son's teeth for a bit, the dentist came to our station. I want to point out that throughout our visit we never had a lengthy wait, which was very appreciated. The dentist looked over my kids' x-rays and teeth and was great at addressing my concerns and talking through options with me. He also did some additional cleaning as he looked through their teeth. He and the dental assistant were quick to get me referrals to multiple orthodontist offices and I requested quotes on a filling and a tooth extraction that we had discussed. He told us they could get me an estimate cost after insurance. I was brought to a room with a woman behind the desk. She handed me an estimate. I confirmed that this estimate was for the baby tooth cavity only and asked if she could also give me an estimate for a tooth pull. She didn't even look at the computer and told me I would also need a spacer for that particular tooth, which ran 300.00. At that point I assumed she would get me a printout for a tooth extraction and a tooth extraction with a spacer. I am familiar with spacers because my oldest daughter had one for a tooth pull she needed after an abscess on a baby tooth where the cavity failed. However, I needed an estimate to pull a tooth for 2 separate reasons. There was a different baby tooth molar which the dentist said we could pull at any time because there was another tooth pushing through. However, he wanted me to speak with the orthodontist before the extraction because the orthodontist may need us to pull 2 teeth around the one coming in, saving us an additional extraction appointment(which was great insight). She said something about the Orthodontist, to which I was confused and needed to clarify if she was quoting on work from the orthodontist or the dentist. She replied that I would need to go to the orthodontist if I chose to get the tooth pulled without a spacer. I was so confused at why she wouldn't get me a quote for a tooth pull. I attempted to justify why I was wanting the quote. Looking back, I shouldn't have felt the need to justify anything to her. After attempting to explain myself on the spot she said to me, "We don't pull a tooth just because it has a cavity." Up until this point I had been very professional, but now I was done and ready to leave. I told her straight out that I wasn't dumb, and I would never pull my daughter's tooth just because it had a small cavity. Her reply was, "I never said you were dumb." I still have no idea what was going on inside her head. At one point she asked if I wanted the dentist to come in and explain what I didn't need explained. I considered it, because maybe he could clear up whatever concerns she had about getting me a quote. I already knew which services my daughter needed and which ones she could potentially need because I had already spoken with him. In the end I thanked her and said we would do nothing right now and I made no further appointments. 5 kids equals a lot of teeth, and that creates many possibilities of needing quotes after insurance and payments. I refuse to try and communicate with someone of that nature on a regular basis. Thank you to the fantastic front office ladies, dental assistants, dental hygienist, and dentist! You were very professional to work with and my kids had a good experience.

Fantastic experience: They are always so sweet to my daughter! They walk her through everything they plan on doing in words that she can understand and they never push her to do anything she isn’t comfortable with. I’m always welcome back with her and it helps with my anxiety as a mother. They let me hold her hand or even hold her on my lap. She gets to pick out a prize before we leave which gives her something to look for and encourages her to be brave! Receptionists are always so kind as well! I will always recommend this place to everybody!

Fantastic experience: My 6 year old son had to get a filling replaced that he got at a dentist in the Midwest last year. Smile4kids did an amazing job of making him feel comfortable, explaining everything to him, and making sure they redid it in a way that it wouldn’t fall out again. Fantastic experience: My kids have been going to Smiles 4 kids for their whole dental experience. The staff and dentists have been nothing but great! I tell all my friends and family with their kiddos if they don't have a dentist to go to to go there for their dental needs.

Negative experience: We can in for an emergency abscessed tooth for my small child. They gave antibiotics but are booked out for 3 months to actually treat the tooth. Said in the meantime to give Tylenol to control the pain. Very sad to me that they don't reserve a few appointment spots for emergency treatment.

Positive experience: I really appreciated the dental tech that was helping us. My son has an insane amount of anxiety. She barely got four teeth brushed, and one picture taken before he lost it. Thank you Tayla for your immense patient. I did not appreciate the dentist. We waited a long time for him to come in, and see us, and he was there for about two minutes. I tried to express a concern of mine, and he just nodded and left. Not happy about the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Kaelli, our hygienist, took time to explain each tool she was going to use to my daughter and each procedure that she going to perform. My daughter felt comfortable and wasn’t scared at all through the entire process. Our dentist took the time to answer all my questions.

Positive experience: They are great and my daughter loves going there. My problem is with the billing. I was told one price for teeth removal made sure that would be what it was, because didn't want to owe anything after was done. Was promised with insurance my charge would be x amount. So I scheduled appointment to have teeth removed and paid said amount. 3 months later they sent me a bill for the exact same amount. When I called was told that what it shows as owed and they weren't very nice and could give me an explanation as to why I was charged the same amount again. I am not pleased.
