Fantastic experience: I learned about Hanbury Dental, in ,2024, after not being able to get an appointment with my dentist. I had a TERRIBLE toothache! My dentist told I had to wait 3 months for an appointment. I was also unable to be seen, as a walk in, @ 2 Aspen Dental Clinics. I found Hanbury Dental, on Google, and they welcomed me, as a walk in. Staff were & continue to be nice, understanding, patient & informative. I was and still am very pleased with their service. I also appreciate how they explain your next appointment, including any & all costs, prior to booking.

Fantastic experience: I was in between dentists due to a move. Unfortunately, I broke a tooth and Hanbury Dental got me in same day to assess. Unfortunately, I needed a crown, but they were able to schedule me for the very next morning. I couldn't be more pleased with the front office staff and the dental care team. Everyone one super helpful, their processes were efficient (online patient setup, emails, text reminders), the team worked together to make the entire process seamless. Dental care team listened to my concerns, explained all my options and got me fixed up with next to no discomfort. I couldn't be more pleased with their professionalism and the quality of their work. Negative experience: UPDATED:::: We love USED to love Hanbury dental! Been have been going here for 6 years now! While they have always respected our choices when it comes to dental care and our feelings about fluoride vs no fluoride. Their office admin staff has just gotten so horrible. If you notice their location they were situated where a great deal of construction off and on has occurred. We have left as early as 45 min prior to our appointment and still managed to be late because of road closures bridges being up and construction… let alone the school zones. We were late about 3-4 times and that’s with 6 family members going from get 4–13. When we even had a death in the family, and missed the appointment in the morning after she passed, I called to apologize and they said well you can no longer come here now! Don’t get me wrong Dr. Cozy and Michelle are two of my favorite humans! They are the heart of Hanbury. Unfortunately, their support staff and policies in the front combined with their attitudes and condescending ways they talk to you is just not worth it! Anyone can clean teeth and help you with your hygiene! But having an arrogant front office that can turn in your in an instant if you are even 5 min late!!! Omg!!! The lectures they give and the smug way they talk down to you is just nauseating. I remember one time I was literally 3 min late and stood in line behind someone for 6 minutes and then I was lectured so bad about how much of an inconvenience I was… I was in tears apologizing saying no no, it’s ok I don’t want to mess up Michelle’s schedule. I can come back another time. If you live a stones throw away… and you don’t have any family members on deaths door you should be perfectly fine! But have a more the 20 min drive… don’t even bother!!!!

Fantastic experience: Very experienced staff and friendly. I enjoyed the experience and knowledge of the dentist very helpful and knowledgeable.
Negative experience: I wound up here when I and an advancing gum infection and my regular dentist couldn’t see me. I have had this before so I knew what to expect - local cleaning of the infected gum tissue and oral antibiotic treatment. (Condition is pericoronitis, you can look it up and find that out as well). Instead they went straight to trying to force me into a panoramic xray (before I even saw the provider) at my own expense (because insurance won’t cover it, because it’s not indicated). Turned into a standoff with Dr. Cozy and I was told she wouldn’t treat me at all unless I did the panoramic because she would be vulnerable to losing her license for not doing one. Completely denied the concepts of informed refusal, patient autonomy, and reasonable treatment options. Did not even do the first line therapy of evaluating and cleaning the affected area. This was a horribly stressful and confrontational experience when I was in severe pain, desperate, and vulnerable. It seems that this practice (or this provider) is only worried about the money grab from a panoramic xray and not actually properly treating issues or providing kind and ethical care to patients. It is very sad and disturbing. I should have just gone to the ER but I wanted to see a dentist so they could actually address the area locally, which she didn’t even do.

Fantastic experience: I had a crown that came off and as a new resident in VA from another State didn't have a Dentist yet. I called and they were able to see me the next morning. From the moment I walked in til I left the staff was professional - friendly. I was provided with step-by-step details of what was going to be done. I was very impressed with state of art equipment. Negative experience: I was a long term patient but after how I was treated today I will not be returning. The Drs are great but the staff is rude. It has gotten worse over the past few years. I was hung up on and had to call corporate to file a complaint against the staff.

Negative experience: I called to schedule an appointment for tooth gem removal which was set and scheduled at 3pm only to receive a text message the day of my appointment to inform me that my appointment was cancelled due to me not confirming my appointment. I called them to let them know that I still needed my appointment so they informed me that I could now come at 2pm in which I did arrive a few minutes prior to 2pm. I wasn’t seen until 3:35 which was UNSATISFACTORY. To add insult to injury, the dental technician sprayed water all of my face and down my jacket and I had to ask for something to wipe it up. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone…there’s no structure and it’s very chaotic and unorganized. As far as my procedure, I’m satisfied as I only wanted the gems removed and he did exactly what I had asked.

Positive experience: The hygienist that did my cleaning was very condescending. She was talking to me as if I had no idea on how to take care of my teeth. After 60 years with minimal issue I think I am doing good. I do not want her to do my cleaning ever again.

Negative experience: The office staff sold me sealants for my child less than two years ago, and now they have a cavity. When I questioned this, I was condescendingly informed that sealants only protect the top surfaces and that me binging “uneducated” was the issue. This explanation was offered while they were actively trying to schedule my other child for the same potentially misleading treatment. Adding to this, I'm still dealing with pain from a separate procedure I was sold. Time for a new dentist! Unacceptable.

Negative experience: I wouldnt give them any stars if I could! They pretend to care about your oral health when all they care about is the money. They also lie straight to your face. Don't get invisaline there either. I was promised a full refund if it didn't work. I financed 5,000.00 through Hanbury dental, and found out my dentist Dr. Grace Choe had left the practice, but already got paid in full, and suddenly Dr Cozy and the new dentist Dr Fahad Ismail couldn't proceed with my invisaline treatment. Nobody was concerned about how my teeth are more crooked, gums now receding, and also I had the buttons still on my teeth. I had to call several times to unfortunately go back and have them removed along with trying to proceed with a bridge that I was getting after the invisaline was done. Clearly I had to get the temporary bridge first and it looked nothing like it was supposed to or what I was originally told it was going to look like. I left crying because I had a short tiny stubby tooth inbetween 2 short stubby temp crowns as the temporary bridge. Dr Fahad was so uncaring and said that's how it's going to look when the permanent comes in and it's not his problem that Dr Grace left and it's just fine. Well, no its not fine. He could have looked at the previous notes and pics and X-rays. He didn't because he told me I'm a new patient. I'm not a new patient to the practice, and just because he is new there, he had my records in front of him. He said he didn't care to look because he does things differently and his way! He was so rude and inconsiderate along with the dental assistant Missy, that in previous visits, was also rude, by always mumbling under her mask that she hates this or that, and she's over it, and ready to clock out, as she always rolls her eyes. The office manager Savannah is so very rude! Treated me like I'm a child, telling me, 'are you gonna let me talk". I was the patient , and I should talk first. So unprofessional! She lied to me about my invisaline refund and used excuses that are pure lies! I'm not done there yet! I will get my money back! To anyone who needs a good dentist, DO NOT GO TO HANBURY DENTAL OR TO CHESAPEAKE BAY DENTAL WHERE DR GRACE CHOE NOW OWNS HER OWN PRACTICE IN NORFOLK!

Negative experience: I have been a long-time patient at this practice, but after my experience today, I will not be returning. I drove an hour to my scheduled appointment for two crowns—an expensive and significant procedure—only to find out upon arrival that my dentist no longer practices here. Neither my previous dentist nor the office bothered to notify me of this major change. This lack of communication is completely unacceptable. Choosing a dentist is a personal decision, and I should have been given the opportunity to research and decide whether I felt comfortable with a new provider. Instead, the office expected me to simply proceed with a major procedure without any prior notice or consultation. This disregard for transparency and patient choice reflects poorly on their overall approach to care. A dental practice should prioritize patient trust and communication. Failing to inform patients of a provider change—especially when significant treatment is involved—shows a lack of respect for both their time and their right to make informed healthcare decisions. I cannot recommend a practice that operates this way.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care! They were able to get my son (10y) in the next day, admitted that what he needed done they had never done before but would try if he wanted or refer him to someone who could (it was a special tooth spacer), and when he chose to let them try they even offered to refund us if they failed. They were successful! The staff was kind to my son and very courteous. Will be taking my whole family there!

Negative experience: I called and made a request their assistance with an insurance matter. The business office customer service representative refused to get the doctor to sign my form. That’s all I asked for to have the dentist signed by. It was a form that asked for the dentist signature— And yet she refused. When I called back and asked to speak to the dentist, Dr. Choe, the same woman refused to pass on my message to the dentist. I also left a message for the office manager, whose name is Samantha. The woman I spoke with and probably needs to be terminated or at least put on a probation name is Tatiana. Terrible, terrible customer service. They have lost me as a client.

Fantastic experience: Firstly, I was experiencing an awful toothache the previous night. I called Hanbury Dental & they gave me a same-day appointment. (I was not a current patient.). My dental hygienist was lovely. She has a southern drawl that is musical. She took xrays of my affected tooth, personally holding the disc because I have a terrible gag reflex. Then Dr Cuan examined me & gave me a concise diagnosis. She provided me with s referral to a Endodonist. I was very pleased with Hanbury Dental!!

Fantastic experience: Good job, front desk is pleasant. The people in the back perform their tasks. My teeth are better when I leave than before I arrived. My insurance doesn't cover that employees will be in a joyful mood everytime I have an appointment. My teeth aren't any more important than anyone else's, so if an appointment is a bit farther out than normal due to their number of patients, oh well, that's life. If I'm asked to update some paperwork, I update it, I will be ok for five minutes with out a cell phone. If I have a question, I ask. If I don't understand, I ask for a more in depth answer. They are very well run and organized.

They were very thorough and made sure I didn’t have any issues before submitting the final set. 9/2I/24, I received my finished set and they are PERFECT absolutely perfect!!! This place gets a 10/10 for me. They asked me if I had a picture of how I wanted my teeth to look and they mimic it just like I asked. Negative experience: They have too many patients. My child has recently gone off to college and the day I found out what days she would be home for winter break, I attempted to make an appointment. I called the phone number listed in their reminder texts and on the Google search page. This was 4.5 months ahead of time. I called the number advertised, I specifically said she would only be home for 4 weeks and gave the dates. I was told nothing was available. Today, I cancelled my appointment with the office with the reason that I believe they have too many patients to provide appropriate care. The following excuses were what I received: Due to COVID there is a backlog for scheduling; They would have made arrangements to fit my child in when cancellations occurred (but was not offered at the time I called); I spoke with an answering service that doesn't have flexibility with scheduling (but I was never told this was an answering service until today); I should have reached out to them directly (again, unaware their phone number leads to an answering service); they are short staffed (reinforces my original statement that they have too many patients). I was then told that I shouldn't have waited so long to make my daughter's appointment. And finally, I was told there was no communication regarding my frustration (apparently, you are supposed to immediately ask to speak to a manager when a business tells you they have no availability). I pointed out that every response from the business placed blame squarely on myself with them taking no responsibility for their part. Not sure how I'm supposed to know I'm not speaking to an actual employee of the office when I call the very phone number from which they are texting personal replies. Needless to say, my original assertion that they have too many patients to provide effective, timely care was proven true to me.

Negative experience: On Thursday 8/22 I had the Zoom whitening done. I was happy with the results when I left the office. As you can see from the picture on the left, taken right after treatment, my teeth where very white and bright. Less than 2 weeks later my teeth were no longer bright or white, as you can see by the picture on the right. It literally looked like I had never been treated. When I reached out to the office with my concern, 10 days after treatment, I was told "whitening results vary from patient to patient" and it's important to utilize the take home gel to upkeep the whitening. My expectation after spending $500 and doing an in office professional treatment is that my whitening would last more than 10 days. I understand the use of the take home gel for maintenance but there is nothing to maintain and I shouldn't have to re-whiten my teeth at home 2 weeks after professional treatment. I don't drink coffee or red wine. And I haven't eaten anything that might stain my teeth since the treatment (strawberries, blueberries, dark foods, etc). My results were great...for like 5 days. This place wasn't my first choice, but was the only one that had an appointment that wasn't months out. Now I know why. I shouldn't have been so impatient to get this done (I was trying to do it before going on a trip), so it's my own fault I'm out $500 with absolutely nothing to show for it. Based on my personal experience, would definitely not recommend. You'd be better off spending $50 on some Crest whitening strips or calling someone else. I'll now have to book the place I didn't want to wait for before to get this redone. In the meantime, I might contact my credit card company.

Negative experience: Terrible. The assistant was rude, never smiled and didn’t even introduce herself when bringing me back. I was in pain. Zero compassion or warmth in this place ( aside from the front desk). The dentist was insisting my pain was coming from a different area and tooth which is fine, I guess. I was looking more for treatment options and resolution. I was just referred out for a root canal somewhere else. Felt like I was an inconvenience to both the assistant and dentist. I am a surgery/ophthalmic tech so I understand well how to treat patients and people in general. Will never be back.

Fantastic experience: Dr Grace is so nice, very knowledgeable and so Professional. Her friendly disposition puts you right at ease. Negative experience: DDS Choe installed a crown on my wife's front tooth that is too short. During this appointment to install the crown, they had to stop the installation procedure and send my wife home for 2 hours while they sent someone to another dentist office to get a tool that they required to complete the installation. Then the doctor seemed not to notice that the crown was too short. My wife came home after the procedure and told me what happened. We immediately returned to the office to complain about how it looked. DDS Choe offered to correct her mistake by SHAVING DOWN THE HEALTHY TOOTH next to the CROWN THAT IS TOO SHORT THAT SHE JUST INSTALLED. I will never trust this dentist with my wife's dental care again!
Negative experience: New client: I booked dental appointments for myself and my daughter a few months back. My daughters in the morning and mine in the afternoon. Two days before my appointment I got a message asking if I can move my appointment up. I couldn’t due to me having to get care for my daughter for my appointment. When I notified the group of this they let me know that I was scheduled for a comprehensive exam and x-ray and due to the nature of the appointment slot they weren’t sure if they could do a cleaning for me. When I asked why I was booked for the wrong slot and wasn’t notified until 2 days out from my appointment, they said they use an appointment booking firm that doesn’t work in the office so they didn’t know the appointments. Thought it was weird, but okay. I ended up working out my daughter schedule so I could bump my appointment up by an hour. Cut to day of appointment. Go in for my daughter’s appointment at 8am and her appointment went okay. The doctor did a really great job at getting my daughter comfortable even including Minnie to help. However, the doctor was very quiet during the exam and kept making odd comments that made me concerned there was something wrong with her teeth. She didn’t ask me how we brush her teeth, she just started showing me how to do it. So I asked , is there something we should be working on with her teeth? And the doctor said oh no her teeth look great. So that was really confusing. Because when she was so quiet and making comments I thought she was trying to figure out how to tell me something was wrong. I just chalked it up to that’s how she exams and carried on. Cut to later that day about an hour before my appointment I got an unexpected call and I had to rush to my vet to put my dog down. I called the office to inform them, knowing it would be a minute before they could reschedule me. When I let them know I had an emergency come up and asked if they could reschedule me they just started telling me they had booked a 90 minute slot for me and they “tried” to move my appointment earlier (which they did ask if I could bump mine up when I was there with my daughter but obviously I couldn’t since I had my daughter). I let them know my dog is at the vet and I am rushing to be with her since she has to be put down. The person on the other end of the phone didn’t even show empathy just said they are fully booked til October. I get it I canceled but jeez no empathy at all. So I just let them know to don’t worry about it and I’ll find another dentist office. I’ll never return here due to the lack of bed side manner and how I was treated and I’m a brand new client (not saying they should treat anyone like this).

Fantastic experience: A back tooth broke and left the tooth with very sharp edges cutting the side of my tongue. I was miserable. Had not been to a dentist in years. So, I found Hanbury Dental to be covered by my insurance. Called and they extracted the tooth I was on antibiotics and now they are my go to dentist. I highly recommend. Professional, kind. .

Negative experience: This dental office staff and office manager doesn't have good customer service ! I wouldn't recommend no one to go there. They need to define customer service and mangments skills and better trainings. They really don't even deserve a star .If I had my way it would be a ZERO !

Negative experience: I was excited to find a local dentist to assist me. However, I received a text the day before requesting my insurance information. So, I screenshot my ID and then forwarded my information. Then I received a second text requesting my ss. I told them I didn't feel comfortable doing that. I received a call from whomever I was speaking to, said all the previous info matched. Why did they need my ss#?! I arrived at my appointment and then filled out their intake forms. Why wasn't this emailed to me as promised?! I discovered that I had been talking to someone at the call center the entire time. They could not assist me due to their limited resources—a complete waste of my time.

Fantastic experience: I had my first visit at Hanbury dental and it went way better than I expected. I haven't been to the dentist in 10 years and my dental anxiety has kept me from making an appointment. I was extremely nervous but the front desk staff was very welcoming. On top of the great front desk staff, my dental hygienist Megan was amazing. Megan took her time to ensure I was comfortable and she answered every one of my questions with care. She even offered me multiple options with my care and ways to ease my nerves. I was so pleasantly surprised to be offered water, a stress ball, and the opportunity to pick the tv channel. I truly appreciate Megan and the rest of the Hanbury team I feel like apart of their family.

Negative experience: My wife made a appointment last Thursday for Friday. The secretary she Stated no problem you will be the last appointment they can take there time and do a deep cleaning. We get there right in time they had called me back . I have terrible anxiety at the dentist. The dental hygienist was measuring my gums where she poke so hard on my left lower back gums that it has bruised and is swollen I said that hurts. The.hygienist was giggle with another women she poke my gums again I said to her again that hurts they giggle gave me a toy plastic football to hold . She went to get my wife. She came in where my wife stated he was suppose to have laughing gas. It's in his chart. The hygienist left to get the secretary why she was gone I had told my wife what happened. Clearly we are very upset we have been with Hanbury Dental for years. The hygienist came back stated she will reschedule for a Monday and only can do one side do to insurance . Lie 1. Called insurance they said not true . we had a whole mouth done in 2021. She keep telling us this will bemore time and she was going to come on her day.off. My wife stated. I need to get my husband in the car. He is upset . Hygienist says sir you go to the car while we speak to your wife for the appointment. That didn't set will with my wife . My wife said look this is the 3 time coming here and this is not right. Hygienist was saying will Dr. Cozy doesn't work on Fri. It wasn't about Dr. Cozy at all. It was the care that I had with the hygienist and the other women in the room giggle and blew my pain off the kept giggle. I told them that hurts . After she got done measuring my mouth is when she give me a toy football. Very disappointing with the care I got with these women and its embarrassing. It takes me sometime to work my self up to come to a dental appointment. This was the first time I felt disrespected . Again no bad feeling with Dr Cozy she caring and awesome. Its the hygienist and the other women in the room. Dr.Cozy was off this day and they tried to say it was answering service that made the appointment which was not true either. I say again it wasn't about what dentist was working it was about the treatment I received and the disrespect that was giving. There are people who have fear of going to the dentist and have anxiety.

Negative experience: My husband and I are new to the area and scheduled new patient exams and cleanings. Booking was very easy and pleasant. I was clear I have dental anxiety and they scheduled extra time for my cleanings. I ended up leaving without being seen and my husband was treated poorly by Megan the dental hygienist. She spoke disparagingly to him, didn’t explain the plan she wanted him to be on, he was left alone in the room for fifteen minutes and then a receptionist came in telling him to sign a bill he didn’t know what it was for, and then he received a deep cleaning. My appointment started nearly thirty minutes late and as I was going to get started with X-rays I hear my husband checking out. I turn around and he is asking why his appointment is in three months and not six as there hasn’t been any plan explained to him. There was a lack of transparency. Then I see Megan telling my husband he can get a second opinion throw her hand up to dismiss him and storm off. My jaw literally dropped and the receptionist was clearly embarrassed. She was apologetic and says this never happens. They still offered to do my X-rays and at this point there’s no way they’re coming near my mouth. I will drive back four hours to my old dentist again and try somewhere else. I’ve never seen a medical professional behave so unprofessionally and I come from a medical family. If my dad treated patients like that he surely would be been fired or a complaint made to the medical board. It’s been a week and I’m surprised but not surprised the office manager hasn’t reached out to us. Yet we got text messages to schedule our next appointment and leave a review.

Fantastic experience: I have had bad experiences whenever I used to go to dentist. But had someone recommend Hanbury Dental Care to me when I broke a crown off my front tooth a couple of weeks ago. So I called them and I went there the next day. I have never had anyone as nice and gave me detailed information about what she was going to do and just what I needed to know when I came back the next day. The tech was awesome and she also told me what she was doing and what I needed to be doing when I got the temporary crowns. But I will tell you it was the best experience I have ever had since I have been going to dentist. Dr Cozy is outstanding and very nice and pleasant as well as the tech.i apologize for not remembering her name but they both are awesome. I highly recommend making an appointment with them if you have had any bad experiences in the past I know you will be very comfortable with her taking care of you. And believe me as I told them when I first went there I was scared to death of going to a dentist. I know that no one did anything to me on purpose but I always had something happen when I went to them. Anyway I definitely recommend her and her to anyone that had ever had a bad experience or is just looking for a new dentist . I know you will be glad you went to her.this is one dentist that I definitely give a 5 star rating too.hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.

Fantastic experience: I am very happy and highly recommend. I was extremely impressed with Hanbury Dental. Every aspect of process seems well thought out and customer centric, from the point of making an appointment, the website, check in process to the staff and especially the technology they use. It was a very impressive process and very modern. The 3D modeling they produce to show you your teeth was amazing tool in speaking to your situation. A long way from a grainy two dimensional black and white X-ray. I especially like the attentiveness of the staff and time spent with me to discuss all my options. quite frankly, it was one of the least intrusive and easiest appointments I have experienced when compare to the same check ups that are done by others. We moved our whole family to the site.

Negative experience: Called this place over a month ago asking if they took my dental insurance to have a painful tooth removed. The lady I spoke with told me yes and scheduled an appointment with a dentist for today at 10. They called me yesterday for confirmation on my appointment and I was ready to get some help on the issue today. The receptionist called me ONE HOUR before my appointment today and told me they don’t take my insurance. She told me they’d have to bill me as self pay. I waited a month to be told something different 60 minutes before my appointment. I canceled. Completely unprofessional and inconsiderate of the patient.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff is very kind, friendly and professional. Dr Grace is wonderful. She was extracting a back tooth for me and it did not want to come out easily due to the root tips being curved inward. This essentially locked the tooth in. It took a couple hours to get this thing out. She never gave up on it, all the while making sure I was comfortable. I definitely recommend Dr Grace at Hanbury Dental Care.

Fantastic experience: First visit to Hanbury Dental was great. I switched dentists because the hygienists at my previous dentist inflicted a lot of pain just for cleanings. This hygienist was gentle, professional and very nice. Dr. Cozy Ruan was excellent. Explained things very well and gave me a thorough exam. I’m used to the dentist looking for 2 seconds and saying everything looks great. She took her time examining my teeth, tm joint, bite, etc and even felt under my jaw which I’d never had a dentist do before. What I was most impressed with however was their 3D scanner. They scanned my top teeth, bottom and bite together. They could zoom in and move around to show every angle and detail. They were able to show all my teeth in ridiculous detail in a photo view, grayed to see detail on the surfaces and then a color coded view to see high impact areas. From that they showed me my front teeth had red areas of high impact when front teeth shouldn’t have any. This explained the wear I had on them and hairline fractures in my top front teeth I never knew about until they zoomed in. They strongly recommended a night guard to prevent further damage and since they already did the 3D scan, I didn’t have to do a mold or anything. It’s one thing being told you have some wear on your teeth and should wear a guard. It’s a whole other to show you in precise detail. Dr. Ruan explained the negatives of ordering guards online to mold at home and the pros of getting it through the office. However, I didn’t feel pressured to purchase the guard through them. It was actually reasonably priced. The office was clean and modern. Everyone I encountered was great. The front desk staff were patient and helpful after I had accidentally given the wrong dental insurance. I highly recommend Dr. Ruan and Hanbury Dental!
