Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE!!! They make you put a credit card on file and it allows them to charge you whatever they want. They NEVER answer their phone, especially with the new AI answering service and their bill lady only works evenings remotely. Even after providing them proof from my dental insurance that I didn’t owe them anything for a visit they still charged my card without ever contacting me to rectify the issue. Now I’ve had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Oh and to top it off, they make YOU pay to transfer YOUR X-rays to another dentist office. Please save yourself the headache of this place!

Negative experience: I received a massive infection from a filling on 7.28.25 from Wakefield and I paid 739.00 for this. The pain was EXCRUCIATING. When I went to the office for pain on 8.4.25 I was billed another 145.00 for the infection caused by improperly sealed filling failure. Additionally the filling is ON the nerve per the exray taken on 8.4.25; was told NO liner was used. Liners are industry standard when fillings are on the nerve. I want a refund so I can have this issue corrected by another dentist. I called 8.5.25 to request a review for refund and have yet to have a conversation with the decision making body. It is now the 12th of August and no one has bothered to address the matter. Office manager isn't responding; owner isn't responding. EXTREMELY unhappy with this company. Georgia Steward

Negative experience: After reading the reviews I am a disappointed the dental assistant and dentist were very professional. However I had a dental cleaning and paid my copay for that. I then paid over 300 to hold a spot for extra dental services and I still have not been refunded as I was unable to attend the appointment and called a day or two after I paid. They keep saying they are waiting for insurance to process my cleaning in which was my first cleaning this year and on my end has been processed and is a completely separate bill. The 300 paid did not go through insurance it was to hold a spot that and should have been refunded immediately. Sounds like from the reviews this happens a lot.

Negative experience: My daughter and I were new patients at Wakefield dental and I was told when they ran our insurance nothing came up. They worked on this for our entire appointment and told us we do not have dental coverage and had us self pay $500 before leaving. I demanded that they send a claim to our insurance and a week later i received the letter in the mail of what was covered by our dental insurance. When I called in to get my money refunded I was told they could see what insurance would be paying but could not refund my money because insurance hasn’t paid yet. This is the worst dental experience I have ever had in my life. If I did not demand they send a claim they never would have. The ladies here are nice but the customer service is deeply flawed.

Negative experience: Brought my 7 year old son in to get his tooth extracted. The first time we came in they said I wasn't allowed due to HIPPA. The second time I came in (due to them not being able to get it done the first time) they said I wasn't allowed to go back due to there not being enough room for me to be in the room. I asked to stand outside the door and they told me I could not. First to lie about HIPPA and then to make up a complete separate lie the next time. Atleast keep your story straight. Definitely do not recommend this dental office. They do not have the best interest in mind for the minors that go here.

Fantastic experience: my experience so far with the wakefield team has been great. i got my braces in march and i’ve had no issues with them at all and they’re always informative about what’s being done. they’re always friendly and have always made me feel comfortable coming back in for my appointments, i recommend going for whatever you may need :)

Negative experience: Was randomly charged $285.80 one day… about a month after I had been seen last. Called the office was told someone would contact me by the end of the business day and heard nothing. Called back the next day, once again told I’d be contacted before the end of the day and that the front office girl (super nice not her fault at all) had said she had talked to someone in accounting and believed the charge had something to do with payment not being received from my insurance company. We requested an itemized bill and noticed the only charge for $285.80 was listed as a “prepayment.” I contacted my insurance company who gladly sent record of all payments sent to Wakefield office and said that I had clearly been overcharged because I had paid Wakefield $692.20 up to this point and my insurance showed my out of pocket portion to be $140.At 4pm we still had heard nothing so we called back finally got transferred to the office manager Becky who went off on a rant about how insurance companies are understaffed and payments take time so they charged us because insurance hadn’t paid yet. I explained that I had already contacted my insurance company and they were happy to provide record of the payments being sent along with dates. She told Me that I clearly didn’t understand the policies I had signed when I started with them and that they had to right to charge me any amount at any time for any reason without notifying me. I’ve contacted better business bureau. Waiting to hear back. We lovvved Dr Sparks and I’m so sorry it’s ended like this but I absolutely can not believe what we’ve just been put through with this office.

Negative experience: Had to change my rating here unfortunately. I have Delta Dental. Note to all, if the office tells you that you need to pay in advance, it’s because Wakefields office has fallen out of network. My recent visit was disappointing. Had to pay up front. I am glad I didn’t take their advice on more services because they knew they had fallen out of network but didn’t let me know. So they KNEW that I would not get reimbursed at the same level as two years ago. Yet they pushed me to get x-rays and other services while FULLY KNOWING that it would cost me a lot more and that they would ask me to pay in advance. Further, they asked if I wanted to schedule a filling. I was then informed that i am expected to pay a "fee" to schedule the appointment. At this point they then asked me to do a Google rating, WHILE I AM STILL IN THE CHAIR. Said "we are having a contest in the office". Finally, they pursued me for thr appointment by telemarketing my cell phone many times. ALL THE WHILE knowing they had fallen out of network. Good people work there but its a poorly run operation and I wont get burned again.

Negative experience: I have tried to give my self a little time to not be so upset with this dental practice. I can't wait any longer. I first went to this office because of pain in a back molar. I grind/clench my jaw and they tried to say the pain was from that. I went back after a week and the pain was so intense and they said they still did not see any crack in my tooth so I ended up going to oral surgeon and he removed tooth because it was cracked. I gave benefit of doubt after being misdiagnosed for the pain and had my teeth cleaned at this dental practice and also a night guard made. One of my back molars was chipped from grinding and felt sharp on the tongue. I asked if it could be filed just to take off the sharpness and it was recommend to have a crown made and file tooth down for that. I had that done and it lasted about a year and half and came off while eating. I had it put back on and it came off the same day while eating. I went back again and they put it back on as temporary and made another cap. I did not realize I was going to be charged the full price because my insurance only covers same tooth every 5 years. That's also when I discovered that just because they accept my insurance does not mean they were in network, so I was billed just over 1200.00. So the 2nd cap that was made was fitted but turned out to have a crack in it. They left on as a temporary and had another made. That temporary lasted about 3 hours and crumbled to pieces. I went back for the 3rd cap and it made it 2 days. I think they filed my tooth too much and the caps will not stay on. They tried to blame it on grinding/clenching but when it comes off the same day just from eating that is just not the true. I decided before that last crown attempt I was no longer going to go there. If my grinding/clenching was a problem for a crown not to work they should have told me and not done it. Otherwise I am disappointed that no responsibility was taken and blamed my teeth grinding/clenching.

Negative experience: Although I can say the staff that actually work on my husband and daughter’s teeth have been very friendly and they do get you into appointments fairly quickly . I have now changed my review to one star. The reason being that they billed both of my insurance twice and tried to bill my secondary the full amount first instead of waiting for the first payment from my husbands insurance. Doing this delayed the payment . In return they without telling me charged my card over $800 and when I called in about it I was told I can only talk to someone on Thursdays which is a joke because when you call in on these said Thursdays they done answer or say their in a meeting . It took me to have to get upset to even get a call back . I told them not to charge my credit card again without me knowing and they again did it without me know ! So all in all they should have waited bc my insurances paid everything in full. But they are not refunding me back and giving me the run around when I check in . No call no email just told she’s in a meeting and that she will call me back . So your quick to take peoples money but definitely not in a hurry to give back over 2 thousand dollars you took from me !!!! Then they also blamed my insurance saying that it was their fault when NO your u see staffed , and your sending out double bills and over charging people ! I’m beyond furious !!! This is now effecting his credit and they don’t care!!! No office should only be available on one day a week . They also hardly ever answer the phone! Besides my daughters braces I’m done with this place! I can’t trust anyone who tries to rip me off don’t go there!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Wakefield and staff are without a doubt the best in town. I have lived in Cleveland and Columbus Ohio and she is the best of all I have tried. I say tried because I have awful anxiety about going to the Dentist. I decided to see Dr. Wakefield years ago and I now go every four months for cleaning and all else. I have zero anxiety and sort of like going now. If you are a female with dentist anxiety and have not tried a female dentist try Dr. Wakefield. I found that I was less anxious with a female dentist. That was a surprise to me. The staff are amazing. They check for oral cancer, your happiness level, your bone loss too that can occur with lax dental care. They are patient. They provide pillows and adjust the chair to make you comfy. They have a T. V. Too. But you will not need it to reduce anxiety. They do not try to sell you on orthotics or tell you what is wrong when it is not. She cares and her staff cares about your smile. I am grateful for the entire staff. I highly advise everyone to go there!

Negative experience: At first I liked this place but this past year has made me rethink my feelings. First my husband and I went in for cleanings, BASIC CLEANINGS, that are suppose to be free through our insurance 2 times a year. We were both told that we had 1 place that needed a small filling. We came in to have the filling done and both of us had a needle pushed in our gums down to the jawbone which was very painful. They did the fillings and after 1 hour we were done. I paid 53.00 dollars at the front desk and when I asked do I owe anymore I was told no that everything was good. I recieved statements in the mail from my insurance showing that this office tried to bill them 3 different times for my husband's cleaning. We also have statements saying for the fillings that for me I owed 110.00 and for my husband 175.00. I found out on December 22nd that this office deducted 480.00 out of my checking account and the insurance company said they were getting another bill for services. insurance also said that I only owed 66.00. I feel I am getting ripped off by this dentist and I definitely wont be going there again.

Negative experience: It would be a zero stars if it allowed me. At the beginning of our time with Wakefield - we thought they were great. This was just the extent of cleanings. We then found our 4 year old (at the time) needing a filling because a part of his tooth broke. We had no issue with that. Then, more than half of the tooth broke off and we needed it extracted. It should have been an obvious reason to leave when we learned that for these types of situations, they don't allow us parents - our children's only advocates - to be back there to support our children. It should have been another reason to look for a new dentist when they claimed conversations with my husband were had when they weren't. I know you can't always trust the words of a child, but now for two different appointments, they have made statements that my child says are not true. I don't believe this practice has the best interest of their patients at heart. I know they claim they "stop treatment as not to cause a traumatic visit for the child" but I think it's completely unpractical and unethical to not allow a 5 year old little boy to have to sit through a tooth extraction without a trusted adult as an advocate and supporter throughout the treatment.

Negative experience: Incredibly disheartened by this office — my husband recently visited them to establish care because we were told they accept Delta Dental. They told us “Delta changed the way they bill you,” so we paid up front and then were reimbursed *some* of the costs from Delta. When in actuality they accept Delta but are NOT in network with them, that is why they require payment up front. They essentially lied to us in a highly unprofessional manner. I am actually floored how dishonest that is to do and that they’re telling people that. They should be up front in telling all patients when they accept an insurance but are NOT in network, because by accepting the insurance it insinuates that they’re also in network. Shady practice, make sure to ask questions! I wouldn’t trust their billing process at all after this experience. Hoping their billing department rectifies the situation so we do not have to go to the BBB.

Fantastic experience: I’ve always been apprehensive about seeing the dentist; I’ve seen many. But I will be a return patient to Dr. Wakefield’s office. Fantastic experience: I just had my first visit with Dr.Wakefield. The staff there are wonderful! The facility was neat and clean while the technology was modern. I did have questions about a bite guard (I grind my teeth in my sleep) as well as some other cosmetic dental questions. All of which I received answers and information and appreciate that everything I inquired about could be taken care of in their office. I love going to the dentist and they met all my expectations! Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the thorough exam and cleaning I received! Dr Wakefield and her staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. I was kept informed of what they would be looking for/doing throughout. They used a special light to detect any fractures/cracks in my teeth to correct before there was a broken tooth situation. Very thankful to have this service provided!

Fantastic experience: Dr Wakefield and staff have been absolutely incredible from our initial consultation to getting both kids' braces on! My daughter had a wire mishap, and within minutes, the office called me back to bring her in, and we were on our way in no time! I'm very happy we chose this office for their orthodontics!

Fantastic experience: The staff is so welcoming and all around great! My daughter has lacked self confidence /low self esteem for a very long time due to being embarrassed of her smile. Negative experience: They have a sign in their window asking for a review. Here is my review of a set of policies they just have, despite their own instructions stating otherwise: Went for a routine cleaning and when I entered was asked to fill out standard new patient paperwork. Paperwork CLEARLY states that ‘if you are having any emergency work completed; you must have a credit card number on file.’ As I am having routine dental work completed, I elected not to write my credit card number, 3 digit code, zip code, and expiration date onto a form and left in the front office. When I advised them their own instructions didn’t say anything about routine work, ‘I’m not going to argue with you that this is our policy’. Another form asks you to initial off on a list of emergency type procedures. I again am not having any procedures other than a routine cleaning and exam. Why would I agree to procedures up front? The front office assistant states that I can rescind these initials at any time, however I rescind them now. There is no reason for me agreeing and signing off on forms that simply do not apply. In an environment where anxiety runs high for patients who don’t like dentists offices, their own policies are at their whim to change FROM their own instructions.

Negative experience: I had an appt scheduled for 11am on Tuesday and called to reschedule at 9am on Monday because I am sick (and contagious). When I was told the non refundable cancellation deposit I paid for the appt tomorrow they will keep and I will need to pay another deposit for the new appt. A cancellation and rescheduling with over 25 hour notice isn’t the same thing. I guess it would be better for me to show up sick. What an awful business practice - I will find a new dentist. This isn’t my first issue with them - I would also like to add that it was just fine for Dr Wakefield to cancel my appt on December 22nd and reschedule it in the new year with 0 regard that it would cost me money due to my deductible restarting on 1/1. She didn’t send me $100 for rescheduling my appointment.

Fantastic experience: We are a family of 5 and started seeing Dr. Wakefield two years ago. Her office has a relaxing atmosphere with a comforting level of privacy. As parents of an autistic 5-year-old, energetic 3-year-old, and unpredictable infant we feel anxious going out in public. Negative experience: Our first impression of here was ok the kids got cleanings and people were friendly. I went back with the boys. But then came back for my son to get some small work done and was told very adamantly I could not go back with my young child ? I have 2 kids and they have been to plenty of dentists and never have I not been allowed back? This was not acceptable and we left .. would never recommend:( maybe for older kids but not if you have young children. If I would have been told in advance never would have been an issue just would have found another dentist .

Positive experience: My husband and I went for the first time for check up and cleaning. Everyone was very pleasant and accommodating. The hygienist, Jessica, was very thorough with her job which made me satisfied with the service. Dr. Darcy was also very nice and engaging which we appreciated. However, I'm giving them 3 starts because they need to improve their back office service. One time I got an urgent email from them that my insurance was not accepted and they wanted me to contact their office. I called several times but their business person was either not available or they were not picking up. I found out eventually that they contacted a wrong insurance company but I don't know how when I provided them with my current insurance. After a few weeks, I got an email from my insurance about this claim yet I didn't get any communication nor an apology from Dr. Wakefield's office. Then last month, I went for an appointment. As usual, the hygienist and Dr. Wakefield were professional and nice. However, I was surprised when they told me I would need to put a deposit for an appointment in December even though I didn't have any overdue accounts nor I missed any payments. This was the first time we encountered this since we started going to their office in the last two years. Unfortunately, this was also right away charged to my account. I requested for documents explaining this new policy and about their cancellation but it's been two weeks and I haven't heard from them. Due to this, I gave them 3 stars which I'm willing to update once I hear from them.

Fantastic experience: My 1st time at Darcy Wakefield for a cleaning and it was the best I have ever had. Jessica and Priscilla were very professional, kind and caring. Was very easy to get them 5 stars because they are the best! We are new in the Cambridge area. My husband's tooth cracked and we were accepted as new patients. We were on a waiting list for an appointment ASAP. They were so efficient in calling us back with an appointment. A good welcome to the Cambridge area! Thank you.
