Positive experience: Had very good experience with Dr Amante. He is very good in explaining what he found from his examination. He is referring me to an implant specialist to address my problem and possibly replacing one of my implant that’s infected. I am also very pleased with the dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth today. I felt that she was the best I had in this practice. I wish I know her name. I have been going to this practice for years, one of my frustration is there is always different employees working with me every time I visit. I have always been seeing different dentist and hygienist. I had no complaints so far with any of them, however it would be nice to have a regular dentist that I can establish trust and relationship

They don’t over-prescribe cavity fillings! I often leave my bi-annual cleaning with great education and just another cleaning scheduled. Strongly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: When I first entered the place, I was a little hesitant because it was my first dentist that I chose by myself, however the front desk receptionist was very kind and explained me the process. After that, all the technicians and even the dentist themselves were nice! They finally explained all the different terms and was very transparent with me throughout the entire procedure. I'm glad I chose this dentist and I will keep returning! I have no complaints whatsoever

Fantastic experience: They do great work. I had been putting off dental care for far too long, afraid my two broken teeth would need to be extracted. They found that the teeth could be saved, and I got my permanent crown fitted today. Once I have the second root canal and crown I am going to continue getting the fillings I need after years without dental care, and I am confident that they will do an amazing job, and that it will be worth the price.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had a lot of dental work over the years, so I usually dread dentist appointments. But my visit here was genuinely great. The dentist and technician were super comprehensive and explained everything. They have very modern technology, and I learned about a couple new treatment options that will help me a lot. They also offer nitrous and have TVs in the exam room. The front desk staff were so helpful in navigating my insurance too. I left feeling so much better and very grateful. I highly recommend to anyone who has dental anxiety or has had not-so-fun dental experiences before.

The doctor was incredibly gentle and took the time to explain everything clearly, which I really appreciated. The assistant—he was so comforting. While I was getting numbing shots, he gently patted my shoulder, and honestly, that small gesture made all the difference. It was the most soothing experience and really helped calm my anxiety. Fantastic experience: Very pleased with Enamel Dentistry South Lamar! I was able to get a next day appointment to fix a crown even though I had never been a patient there. The staff were wonderful starting with the front desk. I was called back immediately to a clean treatment area. The hygienist and dentist were both friendly and calming. They checked on me frequently to ensure comfort. They were both detail oriented and thorough. Pricing was transparent and reasonable. I went in for a cleaning, a filling, and whitening services; the team listened to my concerns and gave me the best care I could ask for. Dr. Celia Rathmell is my doctor and she is so knowledgeable, thorough, great bedside manner, and eases the anxieties of a typical dentist visit- recommend her 1000%! Front desk staff is warm and very helpful as well! I had the option to watch Netflix while they worked and some coffee and bottled water up in the front lobby. There was lots of up-to-date technology that was used during my appointment which made plenty of my processes smoother! I’m looking forward to my next visit!

Fantastic experience: I've only ever been to one dentist in my life until now - I just moved to Austin from my hometown where I'd been seeing the same dentist since i was like 4. Ohhhh my gosh this place blew me away it's so nice!! The staff is all so friendly and and really made me feel comfortable. The tech is also so cool, they had so much stuff that I'd never seen before that made things so much easier and more comfortable! The dentist was even able to tell I was cold without me saying anything and offered me a blanket when I couldn't talk because they were filling my cavity. The prices were extremely reasonable and they didn't even charge me anything extra to fix part of an old filling that needed to be shaved down because it was sharp. They were also super fast, almost no wait time & got 3 fillings done in an hour and a half door to door. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a new dentist!

Dr.Vu’s assistant was very caring and also helpful. I felt no pain while being taken care of and was given head phones and 2 screens to watch whatever I want. A good place to be taken care of.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment today at enamel and the entire staff were great! I have extreme dental anxiety due to previous experiences and had seen on Reddit that they came highly recommended for the anxious ridden dental patients. Their paperwork is thorough and I was able to tell them everything I would want or need to feel completely comfortable. They were kind, informative, and made sure I was good. I felt like my experience was night and day compared to my last dentist which is such a relief! There is the added bonus of streaming options including a TV on the ceiling which I did not utilize today but I will during my more extensive dental work next week.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been really worried about going to the dentist because my last one made me really uncomfortable and wasn’t personable, but I just moved to S Lamar and needed to go to a new one. That said, the staff at Enamel are so kind and warm. The receptionist Denise was super helpful with explaining payment options to me. Dr. R wasn’t condescending when explaining what she was doing, why it’s important, and was patient while I asked questions. Alex, the assistant, was also very professional while taking my X-rays and later got me some sunnies, a weighted blanket and turned on Netflix for me. I’m super happy with my experience and will be coming back :-)

Fantastic experience: Dr. Devish Patel was very kind to me when I was younger and needed dental help and he was just opening Enamel Dentistry. A few years later and a new insurance I came back to enamel dentistry on Lamar even if I have one closer to my home. All because of how kind he was to an 23 year old me and how well he treated me with no judgement. Glad to be back and being one of his pts. The rest of his staff were nice, warm and welcoming. Negative experience: I have been a loyal customer for about 4 years to this practice. At my last cleaning I was quoted for Invisilign with a 40% off discount through Enamel and my provider. Two weeks later I spoke to the front desk girl and she confirmed that is the discount and price. Since it was confirmed I went in for my free Invisilign consult today, and a different front desk person, Miranda, refused to honor the two quotes I had been given on November 13, and on December 17th. She shrugged this off with attitude and zero effort towards trying to honor the quotes or figure out what might have gone wrong. I hope Enamel comes through and helps a loyal customer work through this issue.

Fantastic experience: Love Enamel - they have really cool teeth tech, awesome staff, and I always feel welcome. Before this I have only had 3 dentists (I grew up seeing the dentist and am well into my adulthood lol), and I tend to stick with my care provider. The dentists and assistants are all super knowledgeable and actually excited to answer questions and explain the problems they're seeing with your teeth. They also all seem extremely up-to-date on the latest dental technology & techniques. The staff is also super helpful when explaining payment plans, and they have a phone number that will receive texts, if you're not a fan of phone calls. They're also highly responsive to emails!

Negative experience: They wow you with all the fancy tech and TVs on the ceiling, but don't trust them when they tell you how much it will cost. They told me my insurance would cover my procedure but then they tried to make it my problem after the insurance didn't pay what they told me was covered. Seems to me, if they make a mistake with billing to the insurance, that is not my problem. Also, my insurance provides a free cleaning once a year, which is what I thought I signed up for, but instead I got some sort of fancy consultation, no cleaning, and they told me the cleaning was going to some kind of fancy deep cleaning this, that wasn't covered by my insurance. I am now looking for another place that will just provide the service I am covered for and not upsell me to pay for all their fancy tech.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time at enamel dentistry and I had a good experience. I normally get very anxious going to the dentist but the staff made me feel very confortable. Everyone was very nice and took the time to explain and answer my questions. The dentist was very gentle. He wasn’t rough at all like other places I’d been. Fantastic experience: I was recommended Enamel Dentistry by a family member who raved about her experience. I’ve had bad experiences with dentists in Austin and have been commuting to my old dentist in San Antonio. Tired of the commute I gave Enamel Dentistry a shot and I’m so glad I did! Dr. Rathmell and assistant Abbi have been marvelous to work with. I love how communicative they are with everything they’re doing so it doesn’t feel like someone is poking around my mouth and I have no idea what’s going on. They have been attentive to my concerns and make sure that I’m satisfied—I definitely don’t feel rushed. It doesn’t feel like a money grab— I have multiple fillings and Dr. Rathmell recommended I only update a couple when she could have easily recommend more. I have also been impressed with the modern technology that they use. It makes the appointment easier, more comfortable and I have a better understanding of my dental health. I’m looking forward to starting Invisalign with them. They made sure I knew the benefits and I wish my previous dentist pointed it out to me before. I never felt pressured to do it and am now well informed enough that it feels like the right decision. Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to the South Lamar location for a couple years now and am quite satisfied. And recently had the best experience getting a filling with Dr. Rathmell and her assistant Raquel. Truly a great team, I’ll be going back to them for as long as I live in Austin!

Negative experience: I have been a patient here for two years and have decided to leave. There were two main things that frustrated me. 1. They do the bare minimum during visits. My insurance covers three visits per year and that helps me stay healthy. On the last two visits, I have had to ask to see the dentist. Both times, the office has made this seem like a huge inconvenience…even though I’m paying for a visit. 2. They are quick to sell you on Invisalign and other services, even if it’s not truly needed. I regret not getting a second opinion before they did my cavity fillings (I have never had a cavity before and should have gone with another practice).

Negative experience: I've been coming to Enamel Dentistry on South Lamar for about 6 years now, and always had a great experience, but they now have this new doctor, Dr. Celia Rathmell, who messed up a simple filling for me so bad that I am going to leave the practice to avoid risk of being scheduled with her again. It wasn't even the filling itself (which by her own words she wasn't able to put in well and said it will likely need to be re-done in 2-3 months) but the damage she did to my gums while doing the filling. She literally had to stop and have me sign another consent form for laser treatment to be able to stop the amounts of blood gushing from my gums. She did not explain what was happening, what the laser treatment entails, she just acted as if it’s no big deal. After she was done, she said my gums must have bled so much because I just had a cleaning last week and my gums must have been still irritated. This doesn’t even make sense to me, my gums were not irritated that morning to explain such amount of bleeding, and I have never had such gum bleeding issue in the past, and I’ve done many many fillings in my life, so I feel like I know what to expect. After I left the clinic, I was shocked to see my face in the mirror. The entire side of my face was swollen twice the size, I looked like a hamster with a walnut behind my cheek! I have never in my life had such a reaction to a simple filling, and even this particular filling I’ve already done twice before with zero issues! For the next 4 days I could not eat, smile, talk, open my mouth wide, it even hurt to apply lotion to my face because the area was so tender. My face was swollen for days! Honestly, I felt assaulted by this doctor, especially after she acted so nonchalant, as if it’s normal procedure, and did not even acknowledge the swelling, abnormal amounts of blood and the pain! It is 2 weeks later now, and I feel like I have scar tissue on my gums that may be permanent, and I still can’t brush my teeth on that side very well, because the gums are so tender. It kind of feels like she just cut off a piece of my gum at the base of my tooth and slapped a filling on top of it. I don’t feel like she acted within best practices of competent care, or even just as a normal human, who acknowledges and apologizes for her mistakes, and I will certainly be finding myself another dentist. All the great reviews you see are for previous dentists who worked there, but now it’s Dr. Celia Rathmell, so decide for yourself if you want to risk it with her, as most reviews do not reflect her particular work. P.S.: After I called the practice to complain, the manager (who was very nice and empathetic) got me a free appointment with one of the clinic’s owners, Dr. Patel. However, it was a further disappointment. Dr. Patel listened to my complaint and I quote, said “the REAL problem here is your bite, which is why you needed the filling in the first place. Have you considered Invisalign?” Seriously?? You are going to blame me and use this as an opportunity to try to sell me Invisalign? I am not buying anything this clinic is selling. He completely missed the point and lost himself a loyal customer.

Fantastic experience: Dr vu and Raquel are absolutely amazing! Nothing scares me more than a dentist and dr vu made me feel so safe and comfortable from the first appointment I had a major extraction and he made it seem simple and done in a great timely manner with zero pain and Raquel made sure I was okay during the entire thing. I will be coming here for life now!

Fantastic experience: Can’t say I enjoyed my visit to the dentist (that’d be a little nuts) but I applaud the staff at Enamel dentistry on S Lamar for endeavoring to make my visit as painless and tolerable as possible. I went for their yearly membership that includes 2 cleanings, 2 exams and a sizeable discount on other procedures. I comfortable with that decision for now.

Negative experience: I don’t know what happened to this place but the service and the people working there are completely different than the ones who have treated me in the past. From the moment I walked in the door I was up sold on my treatments. They tried to get me to pay out of pocket for X-rays and when I refused they told me the charge was not optional and I would have to pay for X-rays even if I refused. I’ve had gingivitis my entire adult life it is in their record. They shamed and humiliated me for my existing condition and then demanded I pay double them what I agreed upon when booking while laying in their chair. I was refused my regular cleaning. They claimed they had no record of my gingivitis which is bizarre as I had been treated for it by them previously. I left without treatment and am being charged for a Xray never received. I believe they were being discriminatory towards me when I asked to skip the xray due to pregnancy and then started treating me like I was being difficult for simply seeking the regular cleaning I came there for.

Fantastic experience: I went in for an emergency visit and everybody was so kind. Miranda was very helpful with the entire process of scheduling, making sure I understood everything and helped me to best accommodate my needs. I was nervous about the whole thing but I let the dentist know that and he was very gentle through the entire process. Will be recommending to friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I am the kind of person that dreads/avoids the dentist and finally decided it was time to go and knew I would need some significant work done. I found Enamel on a reddit post specifically asking for recommendations for people that dread the dentist and can say I 100% recommend them. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable during all my dental work (even offering me a weighted blanket and stress ball). They provided clear pricing and explanations of any services recommended and didn't pressure me to partake in any services. I will definitely be going back and recommending them to anyone in the area!

Fantastic experience: They walked me through the entire visit and explained everything that they were doing. The whole visit was easy and actually very informative. I also appreciate that they present options for your concerns like Invisalign and whitening services but don’t try to “sell you” on it. Chick-fil-A level customer service and my teeth are clean. 10/10!

Positive experience: EDIT: The manager at Enamel did call me yesterday and I am very appreciative of her call. I do hope that this policy is changed in the future. Based on the positive call, I have edited my rating. ORIGINAL: I have been using Enamel Dentistry since 2021, and have not had any issues with cleanings, etc. Unfortunately, I learned that the office staff will cancel your appointment if you do not text to confirm. The staff did not contact me in any other way but text, and did not indicate my appointment would be canceled without my confirmation until 2 hours prior to them canceling (I was on a plane at the time). I travel for work, and receive a LOT of spam texts, so they are easy to overlook. The office canceled my appointment with less than 24 hours notice, for an appointment I booked 6 months ago, and that I made sure to fly home from work travel to attend. I would like to clarify, that I work with many medical clinics and fully understand the expense of no-shows. However, a lack of confirmation from a patient should not result in their cancellation. Upon cancellation, I expressed that I would find a new dentist based on this policy, and the office response was that they sent texts to confirm and they did not charge ME a cancellation fee.

Fantastic experience: 12/10 recommend. Everyone here was so nice and accommodating. The dentist and tech walked me through each step, checked in on me and were very gentle. They are upfront with you about price and next steps are really are there to care for you. Id recommend this dentist to my grandmother if that tells you anything about how satisfied I am with this dentist office!

Fantastic experience: Had a full checkup and cleaning today, and boy did I leave happy! After a full range of xrays by Sarah, I was given a very thorough examination by Doctor Vu, followed by an amazing cleaning by his hygienist Jenny. I was completely comfortable the whole time, and was treated with respect and care by every staff member. I highly recommend this dental practice!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to the South Lamar Enamel location four times so far (three routine cleanings and one cavity filling). The hygienists, administrators, and dentists are kind in a casual, genuine way. They’re transparent with pricing, so there haven’t been any billing surprises at the end of a visit. I also appreciated that their new patient form has an accessibility section to request accommodations for anxious patients. My first visit with them was my first dental cleaning in a couple years, and I didn’t feel shamed or belittled about my oral health status. If they’re in network and in your area, would recommend checking them out!

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency dental issue and Enamel Dentistry got me an appointment quickly. It was my first visit to this office and I was genuinely pleased with the care from everyone in the office. A follow up call to check on me was very much appreciated. Overall a good experience.

Fantastic experience: Needed to find a dentist quickly and took a recommendation from a co-worker to check out this spot. I’m glad I did because they were able to see me within the week not months out like other places and on top of that the experience was excellent! Very professional but chill at the same time which I appreciate. Being able to watch tv while you are in the chair made the whole process go by fast and they also did it without any unnecessary chatting while the dentist does their work, which I can’t stand.
