Positive experience: They have the latest techniques, however they are very quick to draw up loans and do payment plans,. Its a good place but don't like when I go to a dentist and they think you are constrained to do what they say and don't know how your financial status is?? This is the only fault I find with them. I had to take out a loan for over 9,000 dollars in 2022 and still paying for it. Then now they want to take out another loan to do a cosmetic tooth at the front of my mouth which will cost over 2,000 dollars. They and this cosmetic tooth and dentures.

Negative experience: I got a filled in couple months ago and it came out. Yup, you read that right but I was cool with it because I was like let me just go get it done again. I tried to make another appointment to get it redone and the said the next available appointment is in April. The hole is literally getting bigger and bigger to the point I brush my teeth 4 times daily to avoid food getting stuck in there.

Negative experience: Worst dentist I’ve ever been to. I sat in the room for an hour before someone came to clean my teeth and she cleaned my teeth in under Two minutes and left. The x-rays took longer than the cleaning. Horrible Customer service. And to top it all off, they didn’t even fix my cavity she just offered me fluoride, but told me my insurance didn’t cover it and that I would have to pay $100 for it. They seem to only care about money than your actual teeth.

Negative experience: Here’s a shorter, sharper version that still sounds professional: They had no idea how to submit my root canal request to insurance and kept giving me the runaround. Every time I called, they either disconnected me or avoided calling back. They insisted I “wait for a letter,” even though they already saw it wasn’t approved. It felt like they were wasting my time until I gave up!

Positive experience: aside from the slightly long waits (my appointment was at 6, wasnt seen till 6:30-7ish) this dental place is alright, ive been a patient here since i was born, staff is friendly, dentists are friendly, they explain in detail what i need done and if its covered by insurance or not they let me know before they do the work, and if you have a dental emergency such as tooth pain they see you quickly and urgently, and will give you a referral the same day. you guys rock!

Negative experience: I see someone else had the similar experience as me. I just didn't accept to pay. It was my 1st visit 2 the office 4 toothache. They took a lot of X-rays. The Dr entered room, no greeting or intro(still don't know his name, he was young &Spanish) he told me my insurance wouldn't pay. The cost was $2,500 & they have payment plan. I stated I'll have to contact my insurance for clarity & to just give me rx. My instinct was . Per insurance, they needed to submit prior authorization which they never did.This was a WOW! Need less to say I will NEVER return.These ppl are trying to exploit poor ppl, just disgusting, unprofessional & $ grab moment. ⚠️ ppl

Negative experience: This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a dentistry office ever. I was scheduled for an appointment where I then had to sit and wait for 3 hours. The office staff were highly un knowledgeable and were gossiping about the care of patients. Save yourself the time and find a dentist that actual cares about the service of care they’re providing from the office start to the dentist. The only pleasant person in this whole facility was the male dentist.

Negative experience: I used to go to this dentist many years ago. I stopped going after I explained to the man that I always have a bad experience with dentist and the last one put a hole in between my two front teeth, and before even checking my teeth he immediately responded. “you people don’t understand…“ that plus the fact that I just didn’t like his overall demeanor deterred me from going back. I’m writing this review today because my mother went today and they tried to con her out of $6000 telling her that her insurance didn’t cover her dental bridge, but after speaking to her insurance company, she found rhat dental office in network and the procedure is completely covered. When she called and explained this the receptionist hung the phone up in her face. These people are nasty and rude, do not go!

Negative experience: update - i really wish someone would hold offices like this accountable , and every day i understand why people do not like insurance or dealing with "car salesmen like dentist " "It sounds like there may have been a misunderstanding regarding your appointment and insurance processing"- there no misunderstanding - if you call me and say " you filed a grievance against the other office , so were going to cancel your upcoming app. which they knew i was already upset when they called , so either the people in the offices are scammers or incompetentence to the fullest After dealing with 1491 Flatbush junction family dental (0/5) and their shenanigans, I now have to put a review for the office manager who thought that she could scam me by creating a fake appointment, knowing that I filed a grievance against there other office . -she called me apologetic and even offering to put me in touch with a dentist that she uses only to call a week later to cancel it, but didn’t tell my insurance that she canceled it, be careful when using these people because they move funny, they are not to be trusted

Fantastic experience: *Edited Review* Due to an encounter with an employee refusing to provide the information for dental care provider. I was unsure about the legitimacy of this organization. A representative reached out to me via phone call clarified the misunderstanding provided me with the direct website to view all providers. She was able to schedule an appointment for me in a timely manner and kept in contact for my appointment with expectational customer service so I will change my review from 1 star to 5 stars. It is human to have misunderstandings but this business ensured it was resolved and that’s what any customer can expect.

Negative experience: I’ve never left a bad review in my life but this has to be said. I tried to get treatment here two years ago, and they completely ignored my complaint and did what they wanted, now two years later I’m having to pay so much to treat something that they could’ve prevented. Find dentists why actually care and listen to your concerns!

Negative experience: Super clean and they have modern technology. However front desk isn't attentive to details and I made a trip for no reason because I wasn't able to get the service I needed and was rescheduled for in 2 months. Seems a little organized.

Positive experience: This place really doesn’t care about the health of your teeth. I am currently doing a treatment plan for one problem but I have a slew of other problems that they don’t even address until I come back to them IN PAIN and they can’t even help me. I feel so stuck with them as I am paying A LOT for a treatment that doesn’t even guarantee anything . The appointments are so quick and quiet and very uninformative. I hate it here. I also strongly dislike the front desk service. I understand that this location means a certain demographic coming in but I am still spending THOUSANDS of dollars. A good morning and friendly demeanor would be nice. The receptionist is the first person you see before your appointment, why should I feel like I’m bothering her by coming in for my appointment? Feel very trapped and uncared for here should’ve just let all my teeth fall out anyways. My treatment doesn’t even prevent that and they don’t have a surgeon at this location to help me

Negative experience: Worst cleaning ever. This practice used to be run by a doctor that cared. It got taken over by these money hungry car salesmen and is terrible now. They didn't tell me my insurance was not taken by them (after I asked) and I a $500 bill for a cleaning (with no cavities). And charged me an additional $100 for "extra fluoride ". After trying to hard sell me on invisiline and braces. Don't go here. Don't trust them. Don't get robbed by them. Zero stars if I could.

Negative experience: Went to the dentist in mid March, was told everything was fine. Received a call in May leading with a sales pitch for Invisalign, which I had already stated in the office I didn’t want and then was told I had cavities that needed to be filled. Why am I being told about my cavities two months later instead of at my appointment when I asked? It seems as if their goal is to sell instead of taking care of the root issues. I will not be returning.

Negative experience: A little over a year ago I was transferred to this office from their sister office Canarsie Dental due to poor cleaning by their hygienist Yiyi. I was immediately content with this office as the new hygienist gave me a very thorough and appropriate cleaning after I complained to their office manager. With Avenue D being my new office, I scheduled a cleaning and to my surprise, the same hygienist from the other office Yiyi was there to do my cleaning. I regret not stopping her before she started but I thought I’d give her the opportunity to clean my teeth since over a year had passed. A few days after my cleaning, I noticed my permanent retainer was broken. I called the office (back office) and explained my situation. They scheduled me to come in right away to their orthodontist office as it was very uncomfortable for me to eat and speak. I explained that I did not receive orthodontic care with their practice but the back office rep said it was okay. For the record, my orthodontist was closed at the time. I had permanent retainers without any issues and cleanings done every 6 months since 2019. I went to their Avenue L office and the orthodontist there asked “why would I come to their office”? as if I had any control over which location I was scheduled to go. She sent me back to Avenue D, said that they would be waiting for me. I get to Avenue D and the dentist refused to see me or speak to me. I did get an apology for the inconvenience after making a complaint but was basically told that the hygienist did no wrong in my cleaning and that since I have calcium deposits that are tough to clean that the broken retainer is because of that. BS… calcium deposits are normal for people with permanent retainers. They require hygienist who know what they’re doing. My recommendation is that if you need a cleaning at any of their offices that you NOT get a cleaning by Yiyi, since she floats from location to location. She has zero bedside manner, she’s not friendly at all and is persistent about you spending $100 for a fluoride treatment. I suppose if the retainer wire would have caused me a severe injury that it would still be my fault as well. Rather than hiring and retaining well trained and professional hygienist. I genuinely hope this young woman doesn’t cause anyone else any inconvenience, pain, discomfort or worse a severe injury.

Negative experience: Yiyi, my hygienist, was fairly friendly. However, I felt that my cleaning was not as thorough as expected, given that I had not been to a dentist in six years and considering the condition of my teeth and gums. The cleaning itself lasted less than 15 minutes. She mentioned that my gums were inflamed and attempted to upsell a $100 fluoride treatment at the end, which I declined. When I inquired about the need for a deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), she advised against it, which I found surprising given the condition of my oral health. When it was time to leave, she directed my attention to a QR code on the wall and asked if I could leave a review. Making this request inside the patient room, especially while observing the process, may create a sense of obligation to leave a perfect five-star review. This could explain the high volume of top-rated reviews for this business. A more appropriate approach would be to request reviews upon exiting the building through the waiting room or via email, allowing for a more genuine and unbiased response. Overall, I probably won't be coming back to this business. However, for individuals with no significant oral health concerns, this practice offers a quick and efficient cleaning process that may be convenient for those with limited time. For those with more complex dental needs, like myself, it may be beneficial to seek care elsewhere. This practice seems to have a culture that prioritizes patient turn over time and money rather than your oral health and hygiene.

Negative experience: I came here with a toothache. The doctor told me that I need to extract my wisdom tooth but they did nothing except X-ray, scanning and check up. They gave me a paper to go and extract my tooth somewhere else and better to call my insurance company to find a hospital that accepts my insurance. - I know very well where I should call. I came to YOUR CLINIC BECAUSE YOU SAID YOU ACCEPTED MY INSURANCE and made apointment. The result of my visit is wasting time, no removed painful tooth. Thank you! I will never come back to your clinic!

Negative experience: People with Metro Plus or any kind of medical plan please don't go here, they're receptionist will tell you over the phone that they accept your medical plans and will schedule your appointment to come in. The receptionist has left a huge information out on purpose, they charge only on your medical plan for check-ups nothing else. They will charge you for the full price which cost you $6,000 out of pocket to be done with your teeth. When I arrived she told me to fill out a form and I waited in the waiting room area she was behind the desk the whole time I was waiting. As soon as my name was called to go inside the office I Oddly enough saw her frequently walking up and down the hallway with a fake smile Making full conversation with everybody she see in the office area. The dentist was very unprofessional he said " I'm going to treat your teeth I will be right back. The dentist had me waiting for a long time. At that point I believe the receptionist told him in a low tone voice that I have a medical plan and then he ended up sending a dentist assistant to tell me about how they only do check-ups only with medical plans. What a Shameful and wicked act a full frown on the receptionist she knew from the start, that's why she made the appointment and left out the information so she could get money from the medical plan. Please Please Please everyone who a has a medical plan don't go here I'm telling you this so you don't miss a day of work or precious time wasted and Not to be fooled by an unprofessional place like this.

Negative experience: I have been a loyal patient at this facility for years and was once happy with their services. However, I have now decided to go elsewhere due to the business practices of the new care coordinator, whom I believe is named Hector. While the rest of the staff is fine, the care coordinator seems to be more focused on money than patient care. He made no effort to help me reduce my costs. A few months ago, I had to pay $3,500 for a procedure, and just yesterday, he asked me to pay $2,500 for another one. Although I should have done more research, I trusted them due to our long-standing relationship. The coordinator failed to inform me that, due to recent changes in coverage, this dentist is now out of my network, meaning the procedure would cost a third of the price at an in-network provider. Proper patient care and customer service should include sharing such information, at least if you genuinely care about your patients and customers. Unfortunately, this office may lose patients because of Hector.. Be cautious of his business practices—he seems to care more about money than your well-being.

Every visit I attend I am always fully taken care of and put to ease , they are exceptional Including Dr Lam I needed a filling fixed in October and he provided amazing care and reassurance I haven’t had any issues since , All the doctors at this location took their time to make sure I knew exactly what they were doing and any after care needed to take place . Negative experience: Everything about this place is such a let down. 1. I’ve been waiting to get fillings since June 2024 it is now December and they have rescheduled me three times now. Today they send a text one day before my appointment (after I already confirmed) telling me they had to cancel and won’t be able to reschedule me at all. No explanation as to why I specifically was cut over anyone else. 2. I was told I’d be called back about the issue & they never did. Just said that to get me off the phone. 3. Upon my first visit I came in to request a filling and they tell me before anything else I need Invisalign because my teeth aren’t straight so it’s all a money grab they don’t care about their patients. Maybe a blessing because I was told my insurance (Healthfirst) covers this dentist but according to another review listed here it doesn’t and they were slapped with a $2k bill. I found a new dentist because nothing about this business is ethical.

The team is professional, kind, and efficient, with very short wait times. Dr. Lam is an outstanding dentist—interactive, friendly, and engaging. He is incredibly knowledgeable yet down-to-earth, taking the time to ensure you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure. He constantly checks in to make sure you’re not experiencing any pain and talks you through each step, which makes the experience much less stressful. What impressed me most is how he educates his patients about their dental hygiene and provides practical tips for improving oral health. Despite being young, Dr. Lam is highly skilled and enlightened, with a pleasant demeanor that puts you at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Lam and Ave D Dental for anyone looking for excellent dental care in Brooklyn. You won’t be disappointed!

Negative experience: I was very shocked by the treatment I received yesterday during my visit. Hector, the patient care coordinator, (hispanic light brown skin and a bit husky) he comes into the room to see you first off. I want you to know who he is because he lacks professionalism and patient care skills. Hence, the reason for a detailed description. He also has a spanish accent. Hector was very rude and short with me regarding my pain and situation of a fractured tooth. I was having pain in the lower right molar for the past week. I came into this office back in August to have a tooth pulled in which I agreed to a $2500 payment plan to extract the tooth and insert a bone graph. When I was in the chair yesterday, I expressed to him how much pain I was in and the fact that I didn't sleep the night before. Hector also saw the pain in my face by the way he was looking at me. I kept expressing my level of discomfort. I saw an endontist who said that he wouldn't suggest retreating the tooth but suggested I should return to my dental office for treatment. Hector said "well there is nothing we can do it's $2500 dollars to pull the tooth and do bone graph". I said well I am currently paying out of pocket for the tooth that was extracted back in August, he said yes you have $1500 left. I then said I cannot give you another $2500 today, is there anything you can do to at least help me out of this pain today, because I called my insurance prior to coming in an they said you should be able to do something temporary and they will cover this visit today. He said no that's the only thing I can do, and I cannot do anything unless you give the payment today. I got up out of the chair very disappointed because he was so dismissive and mean. It was very saddening to me as a black woman. The reason I say this is because I was wondering if I were white or spanish would I have received the same treatment? I spoke to the front desk and Virginia said wow that was fast, I said well he wouldnt do anything, he didn't even look in my mouth. I said my union expressed for me to use their supplemental dental plan as well which will help with some of the cost. I was told they do not take healthplex through carerington. I left the office and was then referred to another dentist by a friend and he saw me immediately after I left Avenue Dental, he treated the tooth to get me out of pain and put me on an antibiotic to manage the infection. I would rather drive 25 minutes to this dentist rather than go to the dental office two minutes away from my home. The dentists level of care was amazing, he was respectful, he saw I was in pain and he helped me. My insurance paid for the visit. This level of care is what was lacking from Avenue D dental. I no longer have trust in them. I am a city employee with insurance there was no need to be treated like I did not matter. I will not return to this office and I want future patients to be cognizant of the fact this is not the same Dental Office that was run by Dr Rosen back in the day. Dr Held would have never treated me the way I was treated on that day. They do not appear to take pride in the patients anymore. Appears to be money motivated. "caveat emptor" Let the buyer beware!

Negative experience: Would definitely recommend this dental clinic. I had a 11:30 appointment & I was finish by 12pm. My dental hygienist Lana was amazing. One of the best cleaning I hd since having my braces….She took her time & & didn’t rush through my teeth which I’ve experienced before….hope to see her again when I go back for my visit.. —fast forward to October 2024:if you need cleaning done I recommend, but if you are looking for dental work/ treatments I recommend you go somewhere else. Extremely expensive & I’m starting to think they are just taking advantage of pts & will sale you unnecessary treatments. Last year in January I did a consultation to get metal braces.. I was told by the specialist it would cost me $7000 for metal braces and that’s only because there’s a discount, which means the initial cost was more.. I laughed & said okay. Then he continues to say there’s a payment plan if I need to proceed. I went to diamond braces which cost me way less than what I was asked for & my insurance covered partial payment . Fast forward to October 2024 , I’m getting ready to remove my braces & will need to get dental bonding because I will have some spacing after my braces treatment. My orthopedic recommend I go back to my dentist for a consultation & see if needed to have her try to make the space smaller. I spoke to the doctor & was told I would have to get the space smaller before I can get dental fillings and if not possible to get the space smaller thn I will need to get crowns/bridges in 6 front teeth…. He called back the same specialist & I was told it could cost me $10000 & once’s again there a payment place. So I said to the specialty I’ll speak to my orthodontist & I’ll ask her to close the space more , and his response was even if I get the space smaller, they will not do dental bonding for me because it’s not like I have a cavity & it’s only done in pt who have cavities… that was complete bullshit because dental bonding isn’t just for pts with cavities…. Fantastic experience: Just had a filling with Dr.Held and Beverly, let me say they are AMAZING. Appointment went by super fast. Didn’t have to wait a long time. From the moment I sat down on the chair, I felt comfortable. Dr.Held and Beverly did an superb job. Best dentists office I have ever been to hands down. I would definitely be recommending Avenue D Dental to my family and friends, especially Dr.Held and Beverly. Not a big fan of dentists but I must say I am definitely looking forward to my next appointment after my wonderful appointment today. Fantastic experience: I am terrified of the dentist but my son referred me to Ave D Dental & Dr Lam & his assistant Beverly was truly amazing.They really made me feel as relaxed as possible & Dr Lam explained every procedure step by step before doing so.He also said if l felt uncomfortable l could raise my hand & he would stop.Well there was no need because my procedure was PAIN FREE & VERY COMFORTABLE....Please if your as nervous as l was Ave D Dental is definitely the place for you.

Negative experience: The worst place i ever visited. I wait more than 1.30 hours for my appointment and when i go inside they just talk about the money directly. They didnt do anything they told me your insurance dont cover this issue and they just skip my other problems. They are money hunger. Dont ever go this place !!!!!!

Fantastic experience: The few times I've gone everyone was friendly and professional. Always with a smile and an acknowledging you. I've see new faces as I unfortunately don't go as regularly as I should and even the new people seem cool. I've only had regular check ups and cleaning so far. And the work is usually good as far as I know or can tell. The only slight issue that I imagine some people may have is there can sometimes be a language "barrier" or gap. However, it is not difficult to understand each other.
