Pleasant Plains Dental: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Best dental experience I’ve ever had! I was referred by a few friends I work with, and it did not disappoint. I went in for a cleaning, and they found a small cavity. The dentist asked if I had time to have it filled that same day and was able to take care of it quickly and painlessly. Everyone was friendly and efficient—I highly recommend this office!
Fantastic experience: The Pleasant Plains Team has taken such wonderful care of my wife's dental needs. The entire team has been very professional, courteous, and have given her excellent care. Recently, Kayla, the hygienist, cleaned my wife's teeth. She gave my wife special care and made the visit very pleasant.
Negative experience: I was a patient at Pleasant Plains Dental for several years and until this past year, I would have given them a five star review. Something has changed with the billing/insurance department and it is a joke. After going in for two different appointments and paying what they said my out of pocket would be, they continue billing me for more money without an explanation. One of those appointments was for a 6 month cleaning. I was told I needed to pay $107 before the cleaning which I did and they billed for an additional $250+. There have also been HIPPA violations as they are sending bills to me for my adult daughter which contains detailed information about her procedures. I sent a certified letter to Dr. Ernst to try to resolve this matter and did not receive a response. I have tried to get answers from the office staff about the additional billing and they have been very rude and unprofessional. Be very wary with this practice!
Fantastic experience: Never thought I would be leaving a five star review for a dentist office but here we are. I’d give them 6 stars if I could. I’ve never had a tolerable experience with this type of appointment. Honestly hadn’t been into a dentist office in MUCH too long because of it. Saely and Dr. Henry one of the most kind people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They made sure I was comfortable every step of the way & assured me I wasn’t a bother. It’s nice that I’m excited to continue with this office in the future. Amazing care. Thank you!
Negative experience: Was charged for a partial never received ,they have it still .called ever month, 5 mths, to talk to billing manager, was told she would call, never received a call , got notice going to collections, then get letter from collections .I'd be very careful on how your billed they will do you dirty
Fantastic experience: My family and I have been going to Pleasant Plain Dental for a few years and have had great experiences. Very kind people and great care.
Negative experience: I had about 15,000 worth of work done to my teeth 6 years ago 2019. When I went there I was in bad shape and I was very nervous about dentist in general because I had come across more than one bad one. They made me feel very comfortable and at ease and helped me more than I could have ever asked for. I went there today for an emergency, my tooth started hurting in the early morning hours and by the time I got to them I was in complete agony. From the first person I talked to on the phone I could tell that things have changed a lot. I got the sense and the short time that I talked to the receptionist that money is now their main concern, I felt very uncomfortable even setting up an appointment but I had no choice and when I got there I was completely beside myself with confusion and anger not to mention the terrible pain that I was in. They basically made me feel like I had no options and let me know real quick that they would not even touch me unless I paid top dollar. They have lost sight of what they started and now they are just like every other money grubbing dentist, unless you have every penny they will tell you sorry for your luck they'll even say that they feel bad but you can tell that they don't give a crap. When you were in this kind of pain all you can think is if someone else could know how bad it hurts they would definitely be jumping to help but you would think a dentist office would be that very place but I think I will be better off going somewhere else because I am tired of being abused and used. Save yourself some time and heartache and find a different dentist because this office is not worth going to and the people do not care...
Negative experience: I made a new patient appointment, waited for over a month and because I work so couldn’t respond to their confirmation call the day before they just cancelled it. I work full time and don’t always have access to answer my phone calls during working hours. Took the afternoon off for my appt to show and be told the cancelled it. Never in my life have I had any drs off cancel an appt because you don’t respond to their confirmation call. Most will advise you there is a fee if you don’t cancel on time to prevent no shows but they don’t just cancel.
Fantastic experience: Kayla is a wonderful hygenist. This office never gets behind so there I s littl r wait time
Fantastic experience: The staff was friendly and professional from reception to check out. The hygienist was thorough but gentle and I was in and out quickly. I highly recommended Pleasant Plans Dental.
Fantastic experience: From my initial panicked phone call about a broken front tooth, until my final appointment, I was treated with the utmost care. They were able to see me on a Saturday which saved me from having to cancel my weekend plans. All aspects of the process have been great and I am so pleased with new smile! Thank you Dr. Ernst and staff!
Fantastic experience: I used to be scared of the dentist, til my wife told me about pleasant plains. They made me feel comfortable with a dental establishment. My teeth were a mess, they gave me my smile back. They made me feel good about going to the dentist again.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff! I’ve used Pleasant Plains for Invisalign and cleanings - no complaints!
Fantastic experience: Super customer service. Dental care has been excellent. Could not be more pleased for about 2 years now
Fantastic experience: Had one visit here Saturday for a consultation and cleaning. That single visit was more informative than probably 20 other visits I’ve had at other dentists over the years. Pricing here is better than other places I’ve been as well.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Nik and the entire staff is amazing and welcoming. Coming from someone who had anxiety at the dentist, this is the first place that has always put me at ease and relaxed. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Great people! Came up with an affordable plan. I felt so assured that they will take care of my dental needs. Highly recommend them!
Fantastic experience: Amazing care! I get extreme anxiety going to the dentist, even getting my teeth cleaned. I had Kayla today the hygienist and she is very patient and amazing at her job at her job.
Fantastic experience: My husband and I had an excellent experience at this dental clinic. The staff were friendly and made us feel comfortable right away. The clinic itself is spotless and modern. Our hygienist, Tatiana, was incredibly gentle yet thorough and the dentist followed up afterward to ensure everything looked great and answered all our questions patiently. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and the genuine care shown by everyone on the team. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: The Dr. Henry J. Ernst was an AMAZING dentist. He understood my anxiety and understood my Autism. He made me feel really relaxed and better about my visit. He did not rush into pulling my 2 upper wisdom teeth. The extractions went very calmly and smoothly. Definitely recommend seeing him for your dental work!!!!
Fantastic experience: From the front desk to the dental assistants to Dr. Zach my visit today was a perfect 10. Each gave me incredible customer service and Dr.Zach talked me through the best dental plan for me. Very personable, and a light in my day.
Fantastic experience: I've been going here for 10 years. Staff, services and atmosphere couldn't be better anywhere. Kayla is an excellent hygienist...the best!
Fantastic experience: Kayla is a Rockstar. Best hygienist you can get. I would recommend going here just because of her! The dentists are great too.
Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Pleasant plain dental as I have been going for 6+ years. Before I found Pleasant Plain Dental, I didn’t like going to the dentist at all but now I look forward to my 6 month cleaning and check up because they are so kind, gentle, and caring.
Fantastic experience: I have been using Pleasant Plains for years. Wonderful team!
Fantastic experience: Let’s be honest… no one likes going to the dentist. Pleasant Plains has been a positive experience each time. The wait time was very short. My hygienist was great! Very gentle. Everyone was kind.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Nik was really great. He was very informative and went over my treatment plan with great detail. I informed him of my anxiety, and I was ashamed that it has caused me to avoid the dentist for a few years. He was very gentle when examining my mouth and went over sedation options for a wisdom tooth extraction. I am on the calendar to go back for the procedure, and I am at ease knowing he will take care of me. Thanks Dr. Nik!
Negative experience: Don’t get a crown or root canal here. I had a consult to replace a filling and they recommended a crown instead. They never discussed the risks and ended up damaging the tooth’s nerve. When I had excruciating pain they said it was normal. When I came back they said, they had already explained the risks which wasn’t true. They never took responsibility for the harm they caused. The infection was so bad, I lost my molar. I had it taken out today at a different dental office. I paid 1400 dollars to lose a tooth because of their dishonesty.
Fantastic experience: I see alotta reviews regarding office staff. But that’s not why we’re here. We’re here to have our teeth examined and taken care of. The office staff doesn’t do that. So let’s talk about the actual chair and beyond. I have seen Dr Ernst for over 10 years now. My teeth were in horrible shape before he took over my care. I can tell you with all honesty that I didn’t do so well with my own oral health due to some other things going on in my life. Dr Ernst and his staff helped me more than I can ever put into words here. He gave me a plan and we got my oral health back on track. He’s very knowledgeable. He’s very understanding. And he’s very quick and reliable. I’m not the easiest patient. I know that but along the way he’s given me really great advice and skills to help get me through the difficult procedures. I’m so grateful for him. If you’re looking for someone who can do the work and who studies the latest in his field then I’d say you’ve found him.
Fantastic experience: I had a tooth extraction here today and it went so smoothly. It was a great experience! I highly recommend this place!
Fantastic experience: I HATE the dentist office because of my crippling anxiety. I’ve had two wisdom teeth removed from the office and the procedure was quick, easy, and pain free. I’ve had several cleanings completed and X-rays are usually dreadful because of the gagging, but I’ve had several ladies give me tips and they WORKED! I’ve had one bad experience, but the hygienist was removed from my chart and removed from my service, I could no longer feel comfortable using her. When I cried before my procedure, I felt like a burden. They understood. They’re expensive, but all dentist offices are expensive, I’ve called. Not sure why they have bad reviews.
Fantastic experience: Great professional team! Dr. Ernst is fantastic! I love how convenient the hours/availability are!
Negative experience: Was a good dentist at first. A deep cleaning was recommended at prior visit, which I declined and explained my discomfort and concerns. My last visit, I had an appt for a regular cleaning, but when I arrived I was told it was a deep cleaning. The higentist was absolutely horrible and she became very pushy and tried to persuade me for the deep clean procedure. I kept declining, explained my concerns, and requested the regular cleaning. The stories kept changing, too. One said there were no immediate need for the deep clean and no cavities seen, then the dentist lightly mentioned cavities. They kept pushing more and more for their rediculous deep cleaning, then I was told that if I don't agree to it, they will no longer treat me as a patient. Fine by me, I no longer recommend this place. They should be shut down! They also are incompetent for crown procedure. My sister in law had a horrible experience with them, too. 6 visits later, she still had awful pain, a temp crown replaced multiple times, and a permanent crown that caused more pain and infection. Your practice is plain awful!
Fantastic experience: Staff is very polite, professional and very knowledgeable. Dr. G is the best - always available to address any of my concerns and resolves all my issues on the first try, whether it’s a cavity or any other work. Highly recommend this dentistry, and Dr.G ! Top services
Fantastic experience: Miranda and Rebecca took very good care of me. I had not been in a while and thier number 1 concern was making me comfortable. I had Xrays and a Deep Cleaning. Everything went like clockwork and I cannot say enough. DR. G was very nice and knowledgeable. Just overall a fantastic experience.
Fantastic experience: I’m so grateful for the kind and patient staff at Pleasant Plains Dental! I was welcomed warmly by the front desk staff and felt comfortable from the first moment. I have a bit of anxiety related to my teeth and dental hygienist Becca was knowledgeable, reassuring, and patient. Dr. Kim was personable and walked me through my options with helpful, but not overwhelming, detail. I don’t look forward to further treatment because I’m a baby, but I am grateful that the staff at Pleasant Plains Dental will be taking care of my treatment! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this dental practice. They do everything to make you comfortable. They don’t scold you. The office is nice and clean. There are televisions on the ceiling that you can see when you are laid back in the dentist’s chair. They really care about you at Pleasant Plains. They also offer an in-house insurance plan to save money if you don’t have dental insurance.
Fantastic experience: I see Kayla she is a Hygienist at Pleasant Plains Dental. She is amazing and very efficient. I look forward to my visit with her as she always ask how my family and me are doing. She is just the sweetest. She answers and and all questions and concerns that I have. She really takes the time to not only clean my teeth but to get to know me as well.
Fantastic experience: I had the most wonderful experience with my dental hygienist, Kayla! She was kind, honest, patient, and made my visit very easy. She explained everything in detail to me and I so appreciate her patience with me. I felt extremely lucky to be in her hands and I look forward to seeing her again at Pleasant Plains Dental!
Negative experience: Whoever the “insurance coordinator” is lied and said she texts my phone multiple times to verify insurance. I never received sush messages other than confirming my appointment and even showed the front desk staff my text thread. I had my insurance card with me and was told I’d have to pay to be seen because the “insurance coordinator” left for the day and they couldn’t verify my insurance. Seems like the professional thing to do would’ve been to call me ahead of time to update insurance if you see it’s not active. Stupid.
Negative experience: Disappointing Experience with In-Network Insurance Confusion I scheduled a cleaning at Pleasant Plains Dental based on the Liberty Dental provider list, confirming they were in-network. However, upon arrival, I was unexpectedly presented with a balance due before any treatment. Confused, I contacted my insurance provider, and during the call, I overheard the front desk staff informing Liberty Dental that their practice was not in-network. Liberty then directly confirmed that Pleasant Plains Dental is in-network and has a contracted fee schedule. Wanting clarification, I asked to speak with the office manager since I had just driven 30 minutes expecting covered care. I was told the manager was at lunch, there was no second-in-command available, and the owner was on vacation. With no one able to address the discrepancy, I had no choice but to leave without receiving care. This experience was frustrating and unprofessional. If a practice appears on an insurance provider's in-network list, patients should be able to trust that information and receive care accordingly. Better communication between the practice and Liberty Dental could have prevented this unnecessary confusion and wasted time.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank Ms. Chan'nel Walker for helping me with a matter. Everyone at Pleasant Plains Dental is super friendly, warm, and professional. If you are looking for a dental practice in Union County, I highly recommend Pleasant Plains for the topnotch and customer service. Thank you, Chan'nel!!
Fantastic experience: Great & friendly staff, clean office. They truly care for their patients and it shows. Dr. Kim and his assistant Amber were phenomenal and comforting the entire time I was in the chair. Best dental experience I've ever had.
Fantastic experience: I don't do well with the dentist and was in extreme pain. Got the tooth out that day and everyone was so nice and understanding. They even offer financing which is Amazing for a dental office. Makes the stress of the visit so much easier. I will definitely be back and recommend them to everyone!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience today ! Everyone was very nice and friendly i would highly recommend anyone going and getting any dental work done. Special shout out to Kayla the best Hygienist around.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing reception and support from everyone at pleasant plains. They’ve completely revived my self confidence with the work they’ve done to my teeth. The hygienists are incredibly friendly and do great work. The insurance coordinator has incredible communication and is very transparent. Dr.G does his absolute best to relay options that would work best for you.Wouldn’t want to be a patient elsewhere!
Negative experience: Rude front office that couldn’t do a good job of working with patient to ensure insurance verified before hand. Leave patient a text for name sake abt missing insurance info and no contact after that to just turn the patient away on the day of appointment after arrival to reschedule for a charge or pay out of pocket. Horrible process I have ever heard anywhere. Stay away!
Negative experience: This place is horrible! Here’s my experience at this dentist's office. I went in for a root canal, and it felt like I was on the show "PUNK'D"! It all started when I first walked through the door. The receptionist sat me down and tried to charge me the full amount, even though I had insurance. When I questioned why the total was so high and asked if my insurance didn't cover this procedure, she responded, "Oh, I am sorry." I let that go, as it could have been an honest mistake. Next, I was called back from the waiting room by one of the assistants. While we were walking, she asked, “So, you're here for a root canal today?” I replied that I was in a lot of pain because it was infected. Her response was, “You need to take better care of your teeth!” I found that to be incredibly rude! During the root canal, the other assistant kept pressing the suction tube hard against my lip. I had to ask her three times to ease up on it. After that, the girl who went to the back to make the crown couldn’t fit it on when she returned! She called another girl over, but she couldn't do it either. Finally, a third assistant came in and managed to get it on. Less than seven months later, the crown popped off, so I had to go back to get them to reattach it. This place is a joke. Please find yourself a reputable dentist!
Negative experience: My Original Experience at Pleasant Plains was a good one. My Hygienist, Kyala, was ALWAYS GREAT and always made me feel comfortable. However Today, April 15, 2025. I had one of the worst Experiences. I had a new Hygienist, Becka, who I didnt mind at first, as I always give everyone an opportunity. However, I explained to her my anxiety about going to the dentist. She was cordial and asked if she could take my lip gloss off to prevent us from going to the ER. First of all, if someone has anxiety, playing or not, you don't ease their fears with that comment. She then explained that she had to complete a gum examination and begin services. She was extremely rough with the tool and was stabbing me in my gums. I explained to her that it really hurt and asked her if this was a new procedure, as I never experienced that kind of pain before. She advised me that I had that same examination last year. I told her I promised it didn't hurt this bad. That isn't something I would forget (especially from someone who only goes to the dentist for cleanings). I relaxed and did all she asked as she performed her procedures. She again began to stick me to the point it hurt so bad. I made hand gestures like time out to have her stop, and when she continued, I waived my arm to remove her hand. She never once apologized or explained what the procedure would entail. I understand everyone does things differently. However, my gums still hurt, and she only did the top of my mouth. I decided to leave as I no longer felt comfortable in a place I'd been going for 8 years. Oh, and I forgot to mention that she tried to tell the front desk that the doctor had administered an examination. He did NOT! He just came to talk to me, and I told him I no longer felt comfortable. I better check to ensure they don't submit a false claim.
Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Pleasant Plains Dental for 8 years now. I highly recommend them. They have done an excellent job keeping my teeth clean and healthy.
Fantastic experience: Awesome service. Convenient appointment times. I received very good service from Bridget. 4/11/25 I am leaving a second review because this practice is awesome. Nik and Sapan worked on a filling and tooth extraction. They made me feel comfortable and took care of my needs with professionalism. My family and I have been coming to this practice since 2014. We have had lots of work done because their payment plans work with our budget. My son is currently doing invisalign, and we are seeing good results. I would recommend this place 100 percent.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Kim the best dentist, so knowledgeable, kind, respectful. I visit him as a 2nd opinion and he was able to resolve my issues. I'm going back to him for the rest of my process. Love his work and dedication. God bless you Mr. Kim
Fantastic experience: The entire staff is great and you always feel welcome. Kayla always gets me back before I even get seated in the waiting room. She does an awesome job and handles all issues. She is great at her profession and I am always comfortable and relaxed. BEST GROUP in the dental care field. If you want the perfect care of your mouth choose Pleasant Plains.
Fantastic experience: I haven't been to a dentist in years. I was super nervous because of the amount of work I need. And embarrassed. I always make sure my kids and good and have everything they need before I worry about myself. My dentist was the most friendly dentist I have ever met. He kept reassuring me and making sure I was ok. I would definitely recommend this place. I haven't smiled in years and I feel beautiful now! Thank you for your help!
Fantastic experience: Best dental practice! Excellent customer service! The hours of service are very accommodating. Kayla is awesome, friendly, gentle and personable!
Fantastic experience: When you first walk into the office, you are greeted with smiles and friendliness. The office is amazing and nicely decorated, you can tell that they want patients to feel cared for and comfortable. All of the staff is amazing and gives you one on one personalized care. You feel right at home. I knew that I had finally found the perfect place for all of my dental care.
Fantastic experience: When I tell you I love the way Dr Nick and his staff takes care care of me when Im there, I mean from the moment I walk through the door to the time I walk out. I will admit not the most bravest nor am I the easiest patient when it comes to getting anything concerning dentistry. My anxiety goes through the roof!! But each time Ive been here they have made me feel as if Im their ONLY patient. Dr Nick (whom is absolutely CANDY to my eyes) he gives his honest opinion and his bedside manner along with his beautiful, smart, and knowledgeable staff and their professionalism is TOP TIER! They answer every one of my million questions, addressed every concern and I can tell the staff LOVES THEIR JOB bc they do it with a smile! I can tell they get along with one another as well. I love the fun environment and they make u just feel special! Keep up the good work guys!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient of Dr. Ernst since he opened Pleasant Plains Dental, and I can honestly say he’s the best dentist I’ve ever had. From the very beginning, Dr. Ernst has always made sure I fully understand what’s going to happen during each visit. He takes the time to explain everything and answer any questions I might have, which really puts me at ease. He is incredibly gentle and caring, always making sure I’m comfortable throughout the entire procedure. The office staff is also friendly and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere every time I come in. I truly appreciate the level of professionalism and kindness shown by Dr. Ernst and his team. Highly recommend Pleasant Plains Dental for anyone looking for top-notch dental care!
Fantastic experience: The Best Experience that I have ever had at the Dentist! My fist visit to a dentist in NC since moving here from Maine. Dr. Lee was so personable, Alexis was a Great Hygienest and all of the Staff was Wonderful! I would Highly Recommend Pllesant Plains Dental!
Fantastic experience: Very professional staff they made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. They explained everything so that I would understand what was going on I recommend them if you’re looking for a dentist home.
Negative experience: Rip off! I was given a written estimate for dental work, around $1000 including what insurance would pay. Got that estimate in writing. About a month after the work was done I get a bill for over $2000! Had I known this would have been the cost I would have shopped another dentist or if the aforementioned estimate was a couple hundred dollars more, that would have been reasonable. After reading the similar reviews of other patients experiences, it's obvious Pleasant Plains Dental is shady. Ought be named Unpleasant Pains Shake Down. Pound sand, PPD. You'll not get one dime more from me. Sue me! You'll still get nothing.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Pleasant Plains. Each member of the staff was consistently courteous, personable and professional. I look forward to seeing them again at my next visit!
Negative experience: I do not usually write reviews but given my experience with this practice, I felt compelled to do so. I say this because I went there on the strength of the reviews here. I recently had a very trying experience with Pleasant Plains Dental, and I feel it's important to share my story to forewarn potential patients. While I was initially happy with the dentist and the partial denture I received, the office's unprofessional and, frankly, shady business practices left me deeply concerned. My initial consultation and fitting went smoothly, with a quoted price of $700 for the denture. However, upon pickup, the price had doubled to $1400 due to an "out-of-network" billing error on their end. I was told that I would have to pay that if I wanted to take the denture with me. Feeling pressured to obtain employment, I paid the exorbitant amount with the promise of a refund once the issue was resolved. This was just the beginning of a months-long ordeal. Despite assurances, the refund was not forthcoming. Repeated calls were met with excuses and dodged, with the office manager consistently unavailable. When I finally managed to speak with her, the conversation devolved into a rude and unprofessional argument. While I admit to losing my temper, I apologized for my part in the exchange, an apology that was not reciprocated. It took a formal complaint with my insurance company and the initiation of a fraud investigation for Pleasant Plains Dental to finally issue my refund. The lack of communication, accountability, and the overall underhanded handling of the situation is unacceptable. While the dentist and the dental work were satisfactory, the abysmal customer service and unethical business practices of the office, particularly the office manager, overshadow any positives. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this practice to anyone.
Fantastic experience: I had an exam with X-rays followed with a root canal and crown … the procedure was the most painless to date. The staff were very hospitable/friendly and efficient. I highly recommend them based on my experience with them so far.
Negative experience: Worst Scam Dental Office in IT Area. - Always takes forever to schedule a cleaning, last time was 8 months.... - Staff hangs up the phone when you ask simple questions trying to understand a bill you randomly received from TWO YEARS previously. - Staff is extremely rude, puts you on hold with no warning, loudly discusses you and other clients in front of others, speaks to you like you're an idiot. - Schedules work that they know they do not have the ability or machinery to complete and send you home in agony to make your own emergency follow-up appts. Went in for a $250 procedure, walked out with $800 in bills, only to receive a mystery bill five months later for more money? - I've had work done here multiple times, I'm not sure why because service has truly done down every single time - guess I didn't want to go through the effort of finding another dentist - FOOL ON ME because now I have crazy bills and pain from them. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Feel free to contact me if you had similar issues or want to hear more.
Fantastic experience: This review is specifically in regards to Kayla, the hygienist I see. I would not give 5 stars to the business as a whole, probably a 3, mostly due to the fact that they seem disorganized on the business end of things. However, the people there are amazing. As a person with an actual phobia, Kayla is the only hygienist I've ever had that doesn't make my anxiety worse. She is so good and so understanding and to be fair, everyone there has seemed to be that way. That is the reason I go there. I do not recommend sedation there, that was a real nightmare and it failed completely, but because of Kayla, I am able to do simple procedures without sedation and I'm really grateful for that. Dr. Grobbelaar is also very gentle and understanding. These two are a great team.
Negative experience: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. I waited for over an hour in the waiting room today to be seen by the dentist for an Invisalign consultation. I was told I would have a quote within 30 minutes in my email and I never received it. I called and had them send it. I was confused so called and asked to speak to a manager. She was rude, did not listen and told me “she would not like a patient like me”. I would stay far away from this place!
Fantastic experience: Kayla and the team at Pleasant Plains have always been wonderful and I have always had a positive, simple, and straightforward experience. Plus, the office has a very pleasant environment and there are tv’s on the ceiling so you can have a nice distraction while you are in the chair! That’s a cool perk.
Negative experience: Email sent on 7-11-24. Office confirmed email. Dr. Ernst managd to respond on 9-24-24 This review is about their supposed reputation for patient care. Highly recommend you read the bad reviews most of the good reviews are first impressions. After YEARS, suddenly they started charging for what was a reasonable accommodation for my disability. My complaint made the price go up even further and Dr. Ernst made zero effort to acknowledge the abusive behavior by his office manager. My new dentist doesn't charge. Neither would any of the other 3 I called before choosing one. Dear Dr. Ernst, I hope this email finds you well. Following is a short summary from my point of view of my last experience at Pleasant Plains, prompting this email and the attached Dr.s note. Upon my last dental cleaning I was informed by the office manager (standing over me while I was strapped to the oxygen and unable to move about freely) that I would have to pay $98 for oxygen. I indicated it had been provided to me for several years as a reasonable accommodation to my medical condition. The office manager proceeded to demand a letter from my dr, which I indicated I was happy to provide. She then stated if my Dr. could write a note for oxygen then he could also write a prescription for my own oxygen tank and I could bring my own tank with me or I could pay $98 to use Pleasant Plains. I cried through the rest of my teeth cleaning. I was suddenly left feeling unimportant as a patient with my medical condition being addressed in a mocking and condescending manner. I'm used to people not understanding why scents and chemicals trigger me but to be treated in this manner was beyond the pale. She didn't sit down and talk to me like a human being but stood over me and made demands. I don't know how an office manager can tell me what my Dr. can and can't prescribe. This is the short version of what occurred. It was one of the most unprofessional traumatic experiences I have had in a professional setting. I came to Pleasant Plains many years ago BECAUSE of the reputation of being accommodating to anxieties, not creating them. Please see attached the Dr.s note that was demanded of me. I did ask and my Pulmonologist will not prescribe me an oxygen tank for many reasons. Should Pleasant Plains need my Pulmonologist to justify his decision to not prescribe an oxygen tank, I welcome you to reach out to him, his contact information is on the letter. I will be happy to sign any waiver needed. He was aghast that this was even an issue. If Pleasant Plains still feels a need to charge me for a necessary and reasonable accommodation due to my disability, one that has long been established with Pleasant Plains and provided for, I would appreciate understanding the reasons in writing so I can determine my next steps. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. The response I received on Sept 24th Good Morning Deanna, Let me first apologize for responding to your message so late, my front desk staff did forward this message over to me and I dropped the ball on responding so I apologize. I apologize about the experience you had at your last visit at our office. I've spoken with my office manager and she did mention to me that she asked you to get that letter I've read over the letter that you have attached to your original email, unfortunately even with the letter our office will still have to charge you for using our oxygen, due to us still providing you with a service. Our pricing for oxygen did increase to $109 moving forward if you would still like to have that added to your appointment we can add it for you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Dr. Ernst To add insult to injury I then received an emailed bill for services I didn't receive. 3 weeks after email confirmation I owed nothing, I got a bill in the mail. ________________________________________
Fantastic experience: Love the fact the office has hours outside of normal office hours. Make scheduling convenient. Staff has been great! Personable, friendly, talk to you not at you, and they explain everything they are doing as they do it. Prices are fair and they have many payment options. I like the upfront plans they give you on expenses and they stick to them, no hidden fees or unexpected expenses for additional “necessary “ procedures.
Fantastic experience: Kayla and all the staff at Pleasant Plains Dental do a wonderful job. They are all professional but also kind and caring and treat everyone like family. In general, I don't like going to the dentist, but I am always at ease at Pleasant Plains.
Fantastic experience: Been a patient of Pleasant Plains for several years. Have had a couple of procedures completed during this period along with my cleanings. I am a big baby about my dental needs because of childhood experiences. I can honestly say that each and every visit I have been treated with the most gentle and kind professionals. I had Linda on 10/14 and she was very thorough and knowledgeable. She even screened me for oral cancer. She felt like an old friend when she finished my cleaning. What a beautiful office and wonderful staff! It is conveniently located and extended hours available!
Fantastic experience: Kayla was so gentle while cleaning my teeth! She rinsed and suctioned my mouth so often, without me asking her to, I never had too much saliva that I felt like I was holding in my mouth. She was great!
Fantastic experience: Kayla was super kind! This place is beautiful and as comforting as a dental office can be! Won't be going anywhere else, and I highly recommend for anxious people. Thanks for making my teeth look amazing!
Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough great things about Pleasant Plains! I went in for an emergent situation with my wisdom teeth and was in and out in less than 2 hours, pain free! Dr. Kim extracted two of my wisdom teeth and I did not feel a single bit of pain. Both the doctor and his assistants made me feel at ease, which is something I have never felt at a dental office. The price is affordable compared to other local practices as well. Even the front office staff were amazing and friendly. I will never go to another dental office after my visit here on Thursday!
Fantastic experience: I’ve had several bad dental experiences due too that I haven’t went back to a dental office. My anxiety levels are bad. I recently went to Pleasant Plains and from the instant you walk in the door they are so friendly! I had Dr. G and Kayla as my hygienist they are both amazing! They truly care for your well being and they are perficient. I highly recommend them!
Negative experience: Worst dental experience in 50 years. I had a tooth pulled in early November 2023 and temporary crown placed on another tooth. 1. The dentist cracked the crown on the next tooth. 2. I was in severe pain and digging bone fragments out from the gum line for two weeks. I went back for the pain and they didn't really seem to care. The temporary crown was too high and cause me pain every time I bit down on it. 3. I developed an abscess in a nearby tooth and was in excruciating pain for two months. That tooth that had to be pulled (by a new dentist) in February. I need an implant that is costing me $6,000 in 2024. 4. Not only did I have to prepay for it in September, they overcharged me by $437 and they would not credit my credit card. I had to wait for a refund by check for over six weeks after the EOB was final. I received the refund on 12/26/23. 5. I called multiple times to address the situation and no one answered and no one EVER returned my calls. Do yourself a favor: DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL PRACTICE!!! If you decide to go to this practice, go at your own peril. Jim Beglin, CPA
Fantastic experience: Went in as a new patient. I was hesitant to go in because I had had bad experiences in the past. For starters I was going in for a filling that fell off a few months after it was put in and of course I was not trying to go in so eventually it got bad and I had no choice but to go in. I went in for my 1st appt Dr. Ernst stated I’d need a root canal sounded horrible. The day of I was extremely nervous my anxiety was really bad felt like my heart was gna jump out of my chest and I was so close to just saying you know what I will just live w the pain but his assistant Sapan as he was putting the nitrous on me was super kind and kept talking to me as a distraction my anxiety went down when Dr Ernst came in he walked me through everything and both were super caring and kept checking up on me during the procedure. That meant a lot to me because my anxiety was so bad and I felt they genuinely cared about me. I hated going in to the dentist but after this experience I was much more comfortable. My mouth is still sore but lol I can now use my left side lol Ty Dr. Ernst and Sapan!!
Fantastic experience: Kayla consistently exceeds expectations when it comes to caring for both my husband's and my dental health. Her attentive approach ensures she listens to our specific needs and takes the time to explain every procedure thoroughly. What truly sets her apart is her compassionate demeanor, especially towards my husband, who has a fear of dental visits. Kayla doesn't just address concerns; she meticulously lays out actionable plans to alleviate them, making each appointment with her a reassuring and positive experience.
Fantastic experience: This was the best dental office I have ever been to in my life. The office is beautiful an has a nice calming atmosphere and the TV on the wall that you could watch while they're cleaning your teeth is a bonus!!!! The staff was courteous and sweet and honestly cared about their patients. Dr Ernst generally cares about your well being and clearly is not in it for the money. My hygienist was so gentle and really took the time to explain to me what she was doing the entire time. her name was Kayla and I would like to give a huge should out to her for keeping me calm and checking to see if I was okay the entire time. (Dentists normally give me high anxiety). I really can not express how happy I am with this office! As long as I remain in the area I will be a customer for life! You guys rock!!!
Fantastic experience: I have horrible teeth thanks to genetics and have had multiple root canals in my life. I have had dentists who ignored when I said I felt it, saying they were almost done, torturing me. To say I was extremely anxious about someone new to me doing a root canal is an understatement. Add to it that it is a lower molar and difficult to numb completely, I didn't get much sleep last night. Dr Kim was amazing! He was so patient with me. Explained what he would do when and counted down before injections so I could breathe through it. Utilized multiple techniques to get me as numb as possible and worked with me when I still felt a little bit. There was decay just below the gum line so that made it hard to do and save the tooth. But he did it. He saved my tooth and removed the decay. He will be my dentist from now on! His assistant, Candy, was soothing, calm and understanding. They worked well together. Also, last week, I had my first dental cleaning there (where they found the decay) and Linda took great care of me! I have had some horrible dental experiences in my 50+ years but the staff at Pleasant Plains Dental has won my trust!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love Pleasant Plains Dental! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. We always have the best experience there. Kayla is the best hygienist, we all love her. And my kids never mind going for dentist appointments because of the way they’re treated.
Fantastic experience: Kayla is the freaking best hygienist I’ve ever had!! As long as I’m able to, I’ll keep going to her. Pleasant Plains made my cavities experience so smooth; I am scared of the dentist and they’ve squashed all my fears. They made sure I was comfortable, got me what I needed, and explained the process as they did it. 10/10, I WILL go back again!
Fantastic experience: I love, love Pleasant Plains Dental. I have been coming to Dr. Ernest for 9 years. The office is so attentive, making sure that all your dental needs are met. The front desk ladies are so lovely and professional especially Bridgette. Bridgette always greets me with a smile. If you are looking for a great professional Dentist office for all your dental needs. You will definitely be satisfied with Pleasant Plains Dental.
Fantastic experience: Every time we have an appointment I receive a timely reminder which I like. Everyone is always friendly and all smiles, and the environment is always welcoming. Our last few visits Bridgette has been very nice a friendly.
Fantastic experience: I have had THE best experience with Pleasant Plains from the get go! The staff is always incredibly helpful, and the dental team is amazing and caring. Dentist visits aren’t on many peoples’ favorite things lists, but Pleasant Plains definitely makes everything much easier from start to finish. Special thanks to Bridgette for helping me get my husband in as a new patient!!
Fantastic experience: This office was wonderful with the dentist and dental assistants for the 2 years I was here before the pandemic. My new visit today to restart my cleanings and exam was beautifully handled by the front staff person, Bridgette. It's great to be back with the completed renovated facility.
Fantastic experience: Kayla was wonderful. She really took time to be sure that I was comfortable through my entire procedure. She kept me informed of what to expect before beginning each step. She was very thorough with my deep cleaning and polishing. Her disposition was nice and her chair side manor was pleasant and friendly. Would recommend, 10 out of 10.
Fantastic experience: ☹️ In spite of having a miserable experience, they still deserve an allotment of stars. I’m disappointed with their process, not the people. I had a 2:30 appointment scheduled for today. It’s been on my calendar since the last visit. I walked in @ 2:20 to learn that my appointment was cancelled since I failed to confirm on the latest attempts. I told them, my phone has blocked all contacts I don’t know. But, I still personally made this appointment. I don’t blame the receptionist (lovely by the way). I blame their business mode. If I don’t show up, bill me or cancel me as a client. Now, I have to cancel you.
Fantastic experience: This has been my best dental experience! I have been searching for a new dentist since my previous dentist sold his practice. I finally feel that I have found a new dental home. I didn’t feel like just another patient. Dr. Ernst and his staff were phenomenal! I really felt that they cared about my dental health. Dr. Ernst and his staff made conversation with me and actually got to know me which made me feel very comfortable. Dr.Ernst talked me through the whole process as he fixed my cavity. He also discussed with me oral hygiene techniques that could help me avoid getting future cavities on my back teeth. I’m glad I took a chance on this practice. It was truly a great experience!
Fantastic experience: Regarding Pleasant Plains Dental in Indian Trail.... I have been going to the dentist for over 70 years; one of those was a friend of mine, but -- in all my dental experiences -- there is none better than Pleasant Plains. The facility is very well decorated and spacious; the staff is welcoming and helpful; my dental hygienist, Tatianna, is the best I've ever had, hands down; my dentist, "Dr. G" is professional and friendly. Superlative experience.
Negative experience: Updated review: Over the last year my family has not had good experiences with the office. After a 6 month wait my husband’s appointment was cancelled the day of without the option of being rescheduled. For basic cleanings the wait is just too long. The appointment staff has been a bit rude. We’ve decided to change dentists to another office. I’m so glad I found this office! To say their customer service is amazing is an understatement. Their schedule is very flexible and they provide many appointment reminders. I enjoy every single visit, and I feel like my entire dentist experience has changed. I’ve been to several offices through Charlotte, and this one is by far the best. My hygienist Kayla and dentist Dr Ernst are both amazing and kind. I recommend Pleasant Plains to any and everyone.
Fantastic experience: This is absolutely the best dentist I been to in NC. The place is clean the dentist is awesome. The staff so professional. Regarding my work they explained broke it down very affordable or should I say the correct prices no over charging or double billing. I actually can get all work done as well not go to multiple dentist to actually work on teeth I do recommend this place if you haven't chose a dentist it was worth the hour and 35 min drive.
Fantastic experience: This was my first time at this practice and I was immediately impressed by how well-decorated and clean it was. It was very spacious and they were very quick and efficient. My hygienist, Kayla, was very gentle and nice. I was placed on a waiting list after scheduling a new patient appointment for June, and they were able to bump up my appointment to December! I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a new dentist office.
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience!! I went in to get several teeth extracted and Dr.Ernst provided a comforting experience. His assistant was caring and informed me to relax and breathe when the dentist was extracting the teeth. I was dreading getting this done due to needles and pain but they made it an amazing experience. I highly recommend Pleasant Plains Dental and Dr. Ernst’s team!!!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love everyone at Pleasant Plains! The staff is super friendly, personable, and accommodating. I got my wisdom teeth removed and Dr. Henry did a great job of making sure that I was fully aware of every step of the process and did it with sincerity and compassion. 100% recommend them for any and all procedures!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Ernst is AMAZING & has made my fear of the dentist alittle bit better at each visit. He & his assistant Amber was great with putting me & my nerves at ease as I had my very 1st root canal done. He explained every step he was doing & made sure I was comfortable during the whole process. Definitely looking forward to coming back for future visits & would recommend this dentist to others if your looking for one that cares for their patients.
Fantastic experience: I have been a very happy patient at Pleasant Plains for nearly a decade now. My children and I have always received excellent care by the dentists and staff throughout the years. We enjoy coming to this office and look forward to our appointments. Oftentimes we’re lucky enough to have the best hygienist, Kayla perform our cleanings. Thanks for taking great care of our teeth!
Fantastic experience: I have been going to Pleasant Plains Dental for a couple of years now and the team there is amazing. Kayla has been my Dental Hygienist since I’ve been going and I absolutely love her. I must say that a dentist visit is not in my top 5 things to do but Kayla makes it easy! She is professional, friendly and she helps me keep these teeth healthy! If you are looking for a dentist office, give them a call.
Fantastic experience: This practice offers weekly evening hours and Saturday hours…that is sooooo rare in the dental field. Those who work an 8-5 job can’t always just take off from work for a dental visit. But with Pleasant Plains Dental it is super nice to have the option for an evening appointment or a Saturday appt. The staff was incredibly nice, professional and knowledgeable. It was a win win!
