Negative experience: I had a filling done. The billed amount to me was $229, yet they turned around and billed the insurance company $339. This caused me to pay a higher copay amount. Slimy, disgusting and dishonest billing practices. Watch your checkbook.!

Negative experience: SO GLAD I GOT A SECOND OPINION! Every time I visited this establishment they made it seem like my teeth were about to fall out of my mouth and disease was going to spread to my brain. I just visited a different office and they did not share the same concerns as this office did. Places like this one are the reason why so many people are anti dentist. This establishment is not built on customer satisfaction, but how much they can get out of you. Shameful. Please get a second opinion!

Fantastic experience: All services from the beginning to end of today's appt were done with professionalism. The office staff and the technical staff were all friendly and expeditiously handled my visit. All of my inquiries were answered - one concerning 'pocket health' was supplemented with a print out graphic with pocket data defined for each and every tooth. (I have now no excuse to forget where the problems are as I do my daily maintenance.) Upon returning home after the appt, a confirmation call was made to me that my Rx for antibiotic was already being prepared at the pharmacy. Great visit, thorough & comfortable dentistry (by Amy) as usual.

Fantastic experience: If you're like me, you've never enjoyed going to the dentist. Smiles on East Bay just might change that for you. The first thing you notice is building inside and out is immaculate. The staff are bright, energetic, and genuinely seem happy to be there. Everyone knew who each patient was and what they were there for giving the impression that they must meet in the morning to go over each day's roster and procedures. You just got the vibe that whether you were speaking with an assistant or doctor, everyone could handle everything and would be happy to do so. The equipment is stare of the art. A fast panoramic x-ray and digital detailed x-ray are great, but they even have a mapping tool that creates a 3D model of your mouth with stitched together imaging and telemetry. It isn't just a gimmick either, aside from the medical benefits it provides, they use it to help explain exactly what they see and their plan of action. This meant less time with my mouth agape and more time face to face with specialists that made sure I had every question answered. Then there is what is often considered the most daunting part of any dentist visit, the bill. However I was quite surprised to see just how much was covered by my insurance and how affordable procedures were even without coverage. The breakdown was easy to understand and completely flexible both in scheduling and even financing, if necessary, all professionally presented in a folder with a hand signed letter from Dr. Griffin herself, thanking me for choosing their team. The staff just could not do enough for me and each other. From the smooth communication over their wireless headsets, the team lunch I got to witness, to the office manager speaking to everyone as if they were family and genuinely brightening each person's day, there are definitely nothing but Smiles coming and going on East Bay.

Negative experience: Be careful they told me my insurance will be good for cleaning but I would haft to pay $180 for antibiotics, few weeks later they want me to pay $378 for cleaning because insurance will not pay for scaling or deep cleaning and I realized when you have deep cleaning it takes 2 appointments or visits because there supposed to num upper and lower gums that would be 2 office visits they basically just did regular cleaning now they want me to pay the difference I wouldn't recommend these guys.

Fantastic experience: I unfortunately fell which resulted in a large chip in one of my front teeth - not a pretty sight. I contacted Dr Griffin who has been my dentist for some time and she fit me into her schedule immediately for bonding of the front teeth. I can't thank her enough for the work she did so quickly, as it looks as if there was no damage to those teeth! Dr Griffin is a perfectionist and made sure the result of the repair looked perfect which is so important to me. I can attest to the concern she and her staff show for their patients, as well as the quality of their care - highly recommend!

Negative experience: Do NOT go here. This place is a complete scam. I was quoted almost $300 for a "deep cleaning" they use scare tactics to make you feel what they tell you is necessary. My hygienist was rude and flat out refused to clean my teeth even though that is what I had scheduled. A complete waste of my time and PTO. I chose to go to another dentist that came highly recommended for a second opinion. They cleaned my teeth and I was charged nothing out of pocket, imagine that! I also had a chipped tooth repaired that chipped again only after a few months. That shouldn't be happening! They fixed it the second time free of charge because they know it was originally done incorrectly. Thank God or I would have thrown a fit! The only good thing I have to say is that Dr. Griffin is a nice lady. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Negative experience: Used to be a great place. Now they're getting lazy and not billing Delta Dental. Making us pay full price up front and wait for insurance to reimburse us. Never seen this in my lifetime. Time for a new dentist.

Negative experience: Visits started out fine but when I needed to reschedule a cleaning there was no availability until a month and a half out. Whoever I spoke with on the phone informed me that they book very quickly for cleanings and gave me the option to be put on a cancellation list to hopefully be seen sooner. I declined and said I would figure something out. I never said the words “cancel my appointment”. And yet I got texts telling me to schedule my overdue cleaning. They canceled my appointment and never told me or confirmed that I actually wanted to cancel. I made arrangements to take time off of work for my cleaning. I call today, 2/27/25, and spoke with a Michelle who informed me that yes, my appointment was cancelled. There is no manager in their office until Monday 3/3/25, the date of my appointment. I am so disappointed in this office and how they have handled this. I will no longer recommend this office to friends, family or coworkers.

Negative experience: I paid with my FSA card for my procedure in October and they over charge my card. I call them in November and explain it.to them and they state that it will take up to 6 weeks for it to be refunded. Well it's February 15th and not only have they not refunded my card, but the company my card is thru has froze it.

Negative experience: Bad experience ! They didn't tell me how much it will be ( even if I asked a couple of times) they just wanted to do this and that then charged me a horrible price ! A months later or so one of my teeth broke, I figured she drilled and sanded too much... ☹️

Fantastic experience: I only had a consult with them regarding an oral appliance that I had had made somewhere else that wasn't working. Dr Griffin was so helpful and generous with her time and offered a very clear options. She seemed very knowledgeable. The office itself is very nice as well, clean and modern and friendly. Negative experience: I went for a routine cleaning as a new patient, I do not understand all this high tech crap they feed you of needing fancy expensive deep cleanings. I went for a cleaning just a basic cleaning. I understand completely that I may need a few things addressed like a filling for a small cavity but what happened to a cleaning, it never happened 2 hours of my morning and missed work for a bunch of x rays and a 2 minute session with a dentist to tell me I need to schedule 2 more appointments and pay out of pocket $800 for a deep cleaning when I have good dental insurance. I’m not understanding how they think those of us who work for a living have time to take hours off work to have fancy cleanings done but I used to go to the dentist get a cleaning and go to work, not sure what happened to those days but I’d NEVER go back here!!!

Negative experience: Having been going to this office since we moved here in 2019 at the suggestion of a family member who also is a patient. In the new year, they will no longer participate with my insurance and we will have to go elsewhere. Brought my daughter in NYE, was rushed to sign a treatment plan after repeatedly informing them we will have to find a new dentist. Then asked if they can take care of the cavity at that appointment and was told no. Understandable with the full book and a holiday but have never been to a dentist office who can not take care of a simple filing on the same visit. Very disappointing!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lane and his team saved me. I was in severe pain after getting a filling from different dentist and unrelated office. That other dentist sent me home after I voiced concerns of the pain and he told me he didn't see anything abnormal and brushed off my pain and told me to just see if it stops. The next day I was in severe pain and that same office did not return my calls. But Smiles on East Bay saved me! I called them, they not only took me in as a new patient but helped me get on the right track addressing my tooth pain and referring me to the specialist I needed for my specific condition. Dr. Lane listened to me, heard my needs, and took action. His team made me feel seen and taken care of. I can't thank them enough. From the front office to the dental nurses and of course Dr. Lane, THANK YOU.

Fantastic experience: Talk about Top Tier! Let's talk about 3 things I LOVE. Nice things nice people and LUXURY. This place gives all 3 and the office is well kept and very clean. Chefs kiss! It starts from the front and trickles right on into the back office. I will use a few names but EVERYONE is SPECIAL in this office. My first interaction was with Michelle who made sure I was properly and professionally welcomed and scheduled. Maddy is the first face you see when you enter and they have her in the right seat - she welcomes you in with a smile and that sets the tone for the entire facility. At least it does with me. I've been into the office on 4 occasions and waited for my review as I wanted to be completely honest. My first visit was to meet the doctor - Dr. Lane and I love him. Exceptional bedside manner very comforting! This means a lot! I also had an exam and xrays , Sherry was my assistant and she did an amazing job. We all know how those xrays can hurt, but she did a great job making sure the job was done with hardly any discomfort at all. I was very happy about that. Second visit was with my hygienist for a cleaning- Tay Tay! Yep - loveddd her too! Cleanings can be tough for me because I have sensitive gums. As soon as she noticed, she immediately switched her cleaning approach. She sent me home with a goody bag of products for my sensitivity! It was over too soon. Who ever says that about a dental appointment? lol - I mean the energy and vibes in this office are on point. My third visit was to take care of some problematic areas and to be fitted for my crowns. This was my longest visit but yet another seamless process with Doc and his assistant. Today I received my permanent crowns and my experience was as it has always been from day one...Exceptional! I was in and out in no time. I love this office and staff. I would and will highly recommend Smiles on East Bay to everyone.

Negative experience: I have been dealing with billing issue after billing issue. They would have me overpay saying the insurance hasn’t sent a check. This happened multiple times to the point it took over a year to get it sorted out. My mom had the same issue and was helping me sort out my bills so she ended up leaving a review and finding a new dentist. Well I set up an appointment for this week trying to give them another chance and I get a call. This guy asked me if I had set up an appointment and said I just want to make sure you feel comfortable coming to us considering the review your mom left. He said it’s not a problem if you keep your appointment if you’re willing to delete the review. I said so you don’t care at all about me being comfortable or avoiding problems you just want me to delete a review that I didn’t even leave. I will be finding a new dentist that is ridiculous.

Negative experience: Smiles on east bay messed up my cavity fillings. I had to go back once and get it fixed because they didn't fill it properly, and ever since, I have 2 teeth where it hurts to pull floss out and feels like it's pulling my filling out. The front desk receptionists are very nice though.

Fantastic experience: I have been to quite a few dentists in my time. I must say , this is the one. I’m already recommending it to my friends. The staff was amazing. Courteous and friendly. Very professional. I live my life by the golden rule. “ Treat others how you want to be treated”. And the staff treated me with the same respect I gave them. Thank you for all you did. I have more work to be done and am looking forward to getting my smile back.

Negative experience: I started going to Dr lane. He wanted to replace many of my crowns. Not because there was anything wrong with them but because they ‘were old’. The hygienist was very rough with me and my teeth hurt for days after I left. The final straw was dealing with the front desk over major billing/insurance issues. They overcharge and want to reimburse after the insurance claim comes back. I had hundreds of dollars tied up for months.
